This is a review for the medsurg in wyomissing pa.beware if you are going for a DOT physical!!! I have a class A CDL for 40 years and always current on my Dot physical.i went here and left feeling so scammed. For the hearing part the Dr.whispered from across the room with no way to test the level of his whisper like other places use a beeper toned to the frequency level you need to pass. So I couldn't understand what he was whispering so he was going to fail me unless I paid $92 dollars for a hearing test so I did and it showed i was well in the range needed to pass the physical. So after I spent $92 he passed me.i fell so scammed!!!! read more

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Doctor sent billing to my insurance company that I had done all kinds of test that were NOT done. I called the doctor mentioned on the billing for the said "tests", it was a fertility clinic. Their billing company said it is my responsibility to pay for "said tests" that were not done. After months of calling to explain I did not have these tests done. They said they were removing the billing finally after 6 months of dealing with this. Today - 2 years later I just received a collections notice, and when I called billing, they basically called me a liar!!!! When i ask them to read me the notes in the system they said I have been receiving statements for 2 years and voice messages/ calls - not one thing is true. Talk about insurance fraud. 2 years later now I have to start all over again with this. This is horrible business practice. Take my advice, go to an urgent care. read more

I took my daughter in for a severe sore throat. A Dr eventually came out to our car and stood about 5 ft away. Then proceeded to tell my daughter that she had to speak louder because she couldn't hear her...with a sore throat! At no time did the dr get any closer, nor did she even examine my daughter. No temp check, didn't feel for swollen glands, didn't check ears or nose, and didn't even LOOK IN HER THROAT!!!...the reason we were there. She suggested otc meds and ordered strep and covid tests. Because I was in the middle of it, I didn't stop to think about the level of (non) care, that is until my daughter's pain worsened and nothing was alleviating the pain. I called them back the next morning to see if she could be re-checked...thoroughly this time. I was told no and that if she's in that much pain to go to the er. Went to er and the dr could not believe how bad her throat was. It was so bad that they even ordered a CT scan to make sure there were no deeper abscesses that they couldn't see. They wound up giving her iv fluids, steroids, and antibiotics. The steroids started to reduce the swelling and pain within a few hours. If the medsurg dr had bothered to look at her throat to see how bad it was, she could have prescribed steroids and saved my daughter 24 hrs of extreme pain and anxiety. I get that everyone is scared of covid, but that doesn't mean that medical care should be inadequate. This dr did NOT do her job. Not even a little bit. And on top of the lack of care...which is the most important issue...I had to pay a copay bor both medsurg AND the er. And, I'll probably get push-back from the insurance company for repeated testing. read more

I was very happy with the compassionate, friendly, and helpful staff at MedSurg. My mom has difficulty walking and the ladies at the front desk provided a wheelchair for her and even helped me get her into the building. Another staff member was able to access her pharmacy records and corrected inconsistencies on the form that she brought with her. They seem a little understaffed and the wait took longer than I had hoped, but the location was perfect for me and the care that my mother received was wonderful! They were able to call in the prescription to CVS, and it was ready in just a few minutes. read more

Staff was nice overall however my issue is with their billing. I had a pretty bad ear infection, and was in a lot of pain, so I went in to get some antibiotics. After the initial check up (blood pressure, heart and lungs etc) the doctor came in. We chatted for a few minutes about my symptoms. Then he took about 30 seconds to look in my ear and declared it was indeed an ear infection. The bill ended up being $165. I've gone to quite a few Urgent Cares cuz I'm prone to UTIs and ear infections, and I have NEVER gotten a bill that high for something so simple. It's ridiculous. Won't be coming back. read more

My husband had been sick for the last two weeks. He's had a fever, shortness of breath, hears crackling when he exhales, and overall fatigue and worn down. He had a covid test, which came back negative. He saw our family doctor early this week, but still has not felt any better. Thinking that he may have pneumonia, bronchitis, or another kind of infection we went to med surg. We called as instructed and my husband told Melissa Smith- the receptionist that day his symptoms. She said that because of the pandemic they would only be able to offer a televisit. My husband looked at me and asked if I thought it was worth it, and I said no since he already had a televisit with our pcp. At this point Melisa started to become very defensive, and tells him to go to the hospital and hangs up on us while he was mid sentence stating that he understand why they have the policy but it's frustrating when you've been sick for so long and no one will see you. We sat there in disbelief at the rudeness and disrespect for someone who claims to be a medical professional. As we sat in the parking lot discussing our next move, MELISSA RUNS OUT OF THE OFFICE AND STARTS SCREAMING AT US. We were both shocked and terrified that a medical professional would treat someone that's been sick with such callous and disregard. I am very disappointed and shocked at the level of disrespect and lack unprofessionalism we experienced today by Melissa Smith at Med Surg! She showed no compassion or understanding to a man that scared, frustrated and has been sick for the last two weeks. This is completely unacceptable behavior. I plan on calling and speaking to the office manager Monday, and if this behavior is tolerated I will most certainly never return. read more

This urgent care facility is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE. If I could give negative stars, I would have. I wish I had read some of the other bad reviews before going there. Originally went there for my daughter and myself for upper respiratory infections. Their policy is to set you up with a telehealth visit to determine whether or not a COVID test is needed, which we did. I then asked what happens if the test is negative. They said I could schedule another appointment to be seen. In other words, they wanted me to pay for 2 visits when its their policy to get a COVID test just to walk in the door. I protested that I would have to pay for two appointments and insisted on a preliminary course of action if the test was negative. They relented and said if it was negative they would prescribe antibiotics for my daughter and myself without being seen in the office. They prescribed amoxicillin for both of us. A week or so after taking the medication my daughter and I started to get the same symptoms again. This time I was able to get into my primary doctor, but my daughter pediatrician would not see her without a COVID test and suggested I go back to the urgent care again. So, I, kept her home from school and scheduled an online telehealth appointment. Explained the entire story to the nurse practitioner (NP) about how our symptoms came back and how my primary dr prescribed me a different, stronger antibiotic. I also requested that if the COVID test was negative that I would like for my daughter's ears/throat to be examined. The NP wanted my daughter to get a flu, COVID and strep throat test. We got the tests and test results later that same day. After we got the results, I called them back to find out what the plan of action was not that all other tests were negative. At that point, even with a negative COVID test, they refused to see my daughter. Apparently they had only given her the rapid test and not the PCR test, which they did not explain to me during the appointment. I asked them why they didn't do the PCR test because that was the point of me going there (so my daughter could be evaluated in person). Even after complying with all of their policies and requests, they denied care to my daughter. Luckily, I was able to get in at Tower Health Urgent Care down the road and they were fabulous. The staff at Tower Health Urgent Care was phenomenal. They listened, examined my daughter in person and gave her the medication she needed. read more
