DO NOT GO HERE!!! The owner tried to charge me $1000 for a part straight from the "factory" for my Hyundai Sonata. Something about it didn't feel right to me and I called another shop and they quoted me $860 for parts and labor, I asked the mechanic where the part was coming from, and he told me it was straight from Hyundai. The TRUE factory cost is $650. The owner of Meet Your Mechanic also quoted me 3 to 400 for labor on top of the $350 extra from the part. He said that my alternator was the problem but when I took the car to my normal shop Gunnell's in Mesa, they were able to find that the trunk light in my car was on and just unplugged it. My total cost $60. I saved myself $1400 because I trusted my gut and not the owner of the shop who treated me like I was stupid because I was a woman. When I went to pick up my car to take it to a different shop, the owner said something to me that seemed shady. He said that after running some more tests and replacing the battery my alternator doesn't actually seem to be the problem. What I took away from that was, he was trying to protect his own ass because he knew another shop was going to find out that the alternator was never the problem. I am disgusted that this place is even in business. Save yourself the time and money, and go to gunnels and Mesa. They are trustworthy, reliable and cost effective. read more

Did anyone else notice their car had been taken for a joyride or something? I left it with a newly filled tank, when I got it back there's half a tank of gas, an extra 100 miles on the odo, and my average is down to 17mpg. That's quite a bit more than a test drive. Lol Other than that, car's fixed 3 days later, definitely can't complain about the turnaround time, but price wise, I do wish I lived closer to my normal mechanic lol. They're nice enough, but I hate people that talk to you like you're stupid, I grew up in a tranny shop. Don't treat me like some suburban housewife who's never seen an undercarriage. Update: It's been about 4 months and still going strong without issues. If you're in the area and in a bind MYM is the place to go to get it done well and fast. read more

These guys are so awesome! I told Louie that my airpods had disappeared in my car after my two year old was climbing around in there. I have been trying for a month to schedule a service to replace my tire pressure sensor on my 2014 Hyundai Tuscon. Quote is great, but never a mechanic available. Have spoken with customer service several times and each new person I speak with has a different reason why there are no appointments available. Sadly, they all sound made up. So now there is becoming a trust issue along with less than satisfactory service to perform a simple repair...If discount tire and pepboy can do this service why does YourMechanic need a certified Hyundai mechanic to do it?... yes that was one of the explanations...another no appointments available for 6 weeks..but can't schedule an appointment 7 weeks out ....REALLY?? This is a long overdue review for Lewis and Meet Your Mechanic. In short, I highly recommend Lewis and his shop. He's friendly, fair and does an excellent job. In my case, I have a 1991 Volvo Wagon that's part project car/part daily driver. As the heat was being turned up this Arizona summer, I started to replace the AC Compressor on my own. I got all the "heavy lifting" done - but I could not get it to take a charge. So, I Googled "Auto AC Repair" in Gilbert and found Lewis. So, Note - No, he's moved to Tempe - but, he's worth the drive. Lewis, on the spot and with short notice, was nice enough to understand my need, ask questions, make and explain recommendations on what else we needed to do, and got it to take a charge. He charged a fair price and got me back into cool and calmness. I try to do most of my own work, or, go to a dealership as I've tried many independents over the years on many cars. They all seem (I know, somewhat a generalization, but, my experience) to want to say "no problem - this won't cost much" then suck you in for $$$$$$ on older cars. But, not Lewis. He is competent and fair. You will not go wrong going to him and his folks at his shop. :) read more

This is the worse place I've ever encountered in my life. The customer service is terrible and Louis talked to me as if I was alliterate and didn't understand how the warranty worked. On the other hand he left a tool under the hood that caused more damage. I have evidence proving what worked he did. They had my car for 3 days literally 3 days and didn't even have the diagnosis. Meanwhile I took my car to another place and I was able to get my car with the correct diagnosis in less than 24 hours. Meet Your Mechanic is the absolute worse and won't even answer my call. A mechanic you can trust to complete solid trustworthy work at an honest rate. Dead of summer the a/c in my truck goes out. After a $1500 quote from Firestone up the street I decided it better to get a second opinion. Thanks to yelp I found Louie. I made an appointment to take my truck in to have it checked out. Louie did a quick and thorough review and determined the issue. Actually walked me out to the truck, spent a few minutes showing me and explaining the issue. This was huge for me! Since it was late in the afternoon, I left the truck there to be worked on the following day. By the time I picked it up the next day my truck was ready and blowing ice cold. Almost a month and a half later it still is ice cold. And the best part... seriously a third of what was quoted by Firestone, not too mention, not feeling like I'm getting ripped off and oversold on extras that aren't needed! That's how I felt after leaving my car here for a pair of cv axles. Louie and Kyle are very friendly, knowledgeable and most of all Very Reliable. No pushy salesmanship here, (they don't do over the phone estimates), just an honest conversation about your car and it's needs. After speaking with him for a few minutes, you soon learn that Louie genuinely loves fixing cars and helping people. I took my 2007 Nissan Altima with a problem with my headlights flashing on and off after my car was turned off. Details of work done: The whatchamacallit was making a ring ding ding da ring ring sound Louie added some type of liquid to it and it started making a woot woot woot sound. All better now! Then he put that square thing that powers my jeep into the hood, (I forgot the name of that device), which allowed my Jeep to turn on when i turned the key. Then he poured some grayish black stuff in a tube down a pipe and screwed the cap back on. That made a huge difference! He tightened a lot of things in my Jeep, apparently things should be tightened. My car no longer sounded like it was playing jingle bells while driving it down the road. Nice thinking Louie! He added some stuff into my tires so they were more rounded than they were originally. No more sparks flew from my rims when I drove down the street. I need to find out where he gets that stuff so I can put it in my tires when needed. I will definitely be coming back to Meet Your Mechanic! On the honest side, Louie is a great mechanic and a super great guy. Everything came out perfect and he easily went an extra mile for me to get it done. I'm very impressed with him and his team and he has all the rest of my business going forward. Side note: Bring Louie one of his favorite Salisbury Steak sandwiches from the restaurant he likes before going over. :) Thanks buddy for the hard work! Just picked up my car this morning from Meet Your Mechanic and couldn't be happier. Nice people and clean place, but very over priced. Oil change cost $50 that's ridiculous, knowing this industry and how it works I know it shouldn't of been more than $30 max. My families shop runs at $24.99 for an oil change. That and it took an hour for my oil change to be complete being the only vehicle there, no way should of taken any longer than 30 min and had an appt. read more

The work performed seemed ok at the time, but an unrelated part did coincidentally break while in the shop, and we had to pay to replace a part broken by the mechanic while investigating the problem, never like to see that. Since the shop's run out of a hole in the wall, I expected to save money, but I called for comps at firestone and sun devil (who are not cheap), and this shop was every bit as expensive. If this shop is nearby, you might consider it, but there's no advantage over any other expensive shop. - Update: I had AC repair about a year ago, never got around to reviewing. The AC system failed again last week (not faulting MYM), which reminded me to post a review for MYM. The part that coincidentally failed was a starter; it happens, just mentioning here so others can be on the lookout for a pattern. read more

Louie has worked on a few of my cars over the last few years. The work was descent but expensive. Recently I brought in a car for an evaporator change which is under the dash board. It is somewhat difficult that's why I brought it to the "AC Expert". Unfortunately in the process of the repair the battery and alternator got fried. He took no responsibility for it even though his employee at the time admitted the mistake directly to me. Also they busted out the ashtray, broke the plastic and made no attempt to repair it. After installing the evaporator and reassembling the dash I was informed the actuators in the were not working correctly. I would have thought the AC expert would have checked all of these things considering I brought it in for AC repair. Louie told me the parts weren't available which I proceeded to find online in about 2 minutes. So I got the car back after 6 weeks in his shop. The AC / Heating system still does not work correctly and I was charged $1800 for the AC and over $500 for the battery and alternator that they damaged. So enter at your own risk this place has taken a turn for the worst. Peace read more

LOUIE BROUGHT MY CAR BACK FROM THE DEAD! My 1999 camaro had been sitting in the heat of AZ for at least 5 years without being driven and it eventually stopped turning on. I had meant to sell the car but couldn't let it go. So I brought it to Louie after my primary mode of transport, my Chevy cruze, was totalled in an accident. He gave me his honest straight-forward opinion from the get go about the camaro. He didn't give me false hope which I GREATLY appreciated! I didn't want to waste money or time on a lost cause. Still I wanted to give the camaro a shot. So he started with the most important issues, getting it started. He quickly narrowed down where the issues were and was very knowledgeable about how the car was affected and how to fix the problem. Once the car was started he was able to fully diagnose any other issues. He was always very quick to respond and extremely thorough in explaining what was going on with the car. He made sure I understood what was going on with my car. I felt absolutely 100% comfortable with Louie and his team, he never tried to up sell something or pressure me in any way unlike other places I've tried in the past. As long as I'm in the state of AZ I will ONLY go to Louie's Meet Your Mechanic shop. Also my car runs wonderfully! On top of fixing my car he cleaned it and took it to pass emissions! So above and beyond spectacular service! I definitely felt like a VIP. read more

Totally forgot that I didn't give Louie a Yelp review. So my a/c when out in my car in July 2015 and I definitely did not feel like getting it fixed, especially with the crazy quotes that I was getting from other auto mechanics. Somehow, I was able to make it through the rest of the summer last year w/o A/C. Don't ask me how b/c I surely don't know (I think the heat messed w/my memory lol). So I was debating about getting a new car this year, but then said forget it and in April, came across Louie's website by googling. Anyway I ended up taking my car to Louie and he fixed it right up and for a great price! He's definitely a nice guy. Sooo glad I got it done b/c it has been hot as heck outside ever since LOL.
