Poor customer service. Rude customer service reps. No accountability. I missed the bus after arriving 2 minutes late (no grace period, but I understand). I spoke with Javon on June 11, 2017 to ask his supervisor for a credit to join another bus if seats are available. Javon couldn't give me his supervisor's name, employee ID, or any information to track his district to make a complaint to corporate. My boyfriend and I took the mega bus from Orlando to Tampa and back. Our trip there was very nice. The bus was almost empty so we had plenty of room to spread out and ended up taking the entire back row. They have plugs to charge your laptop/phone etc and free wifi. HOWEVER, you cannot stream videos (youtube, netflix, hbo go etc). Thankfully our ipad is hooked up to the sprint network so we watched Netflix the entire way to Tampa and it didn't feel like an hour and a half drive at all! You are able to bring food and drinks on the bus. The seats weren't Uncomfortable but weren't VERY comfortable either. Like Daya said, you get what you pay for. We paid $6 for both of us to go to Tampa and $11 for both of us to return. Our ride back to Orlando wasn't as nice as the one up. The bus still wasn't full but it was almost 2 hours late and when it arrived it was filthy!! The people who were riding in it before us were disgusting! It was very clear that the buses do not get cleaned between drop offs. There was trash all over the floors and seats, it smelled like old wet cigarettes and the bus driver was obviously upset. She went up and down the aisles mumbling about how 2 of the previous passengers actually started fighting on the bus. I did have one worry on the trip back. While we were waiting to be loaded on to the bus and the previous passengers were getting off, the bus driver was unloading their luggage and just left it on the sidewalk. One of the bags was unclaimed and just sat on the sidewalk as we drove off. So if I do end this review with one suggestion it would be "do not check baggage"! Make sure you have a small bag that can be taken on the bus and not checked underneath. There seems to be no system for checking/claiming baggage. Also, take an early departure if you want a clean bus..the later it gets, the dirtier the bus. Overall, it was worth the $17 to go to Tampa and not have to worry about driving or finding parking spots. read more

The office itself is kind of hidden so it may be hard to find. But there's seating inside and a restroom. Only rode it twice but seemed like each time there was an issue with the bus. First time, it was sold out and they decided to load everyone on a bus(that wasn't megabus, just a regular charter) with no air conditioning then for the driver to come and say that this isn't the bus we'll be riding and another one is coming. We stayed about twenty minutes on the bus until the actual megabus came and we loaded into that. I was able to get to my destination safely with very little delay so no big deal to me. Second time, I got an email saying that instead of megabus, I'd be riding another charter bus. Ok no big deal. But I did have reserved seating and will be calling them for my refund on that. In all, I can say megabus is good on arriving on time. Not much of a big delay. There's plenty of seats(obviously). read more

I just recently took the Megabus from downtown Orlando to New Orleans. I booked over 2 months in advanced and Managed to pay a total of $24 for 4 passengers. I was a little worried about parking however the bus stop was directly across from a parking garage. It was $15 per day to park overnight. The bus was clean to some degree but could have used a better wipe down. The bathroom was clean but no running water just sanitizer. The ride was smooth and quiet for the most part. Yeah, you can here music coming from your neighbors head phones and also pray you don't sit next to someone that wants to talk on the phone the whole trip. The bus drivers were friendly and stated if we had any problems on the bus with others just let them know and they will handle it. There also were cabs waiting in Orlando as well as New Orleans when we arrived. That would have come In handy since we arrived 1:00 am. Overall I would def take this ride again.... read more

I rode from Orlando to Atlanta on one of their double decker buses and that ride was a good ride. I had heard other reviewers talk about not being able to keep warm or adjust the temp but each seat has an adjustable air vent, like an airplane. I had no problems keeping warm at all. They stopped at a gas station with a hamburger place on the side for "lunch" and left in about 30 minutes. The driver seemed to speed up and slow down much of the trip. Regardless, we got to Atlanta on time. They have no facilities in Atlanta, and you wait on the sidewalk outside a MARTA station waiting for the next bus. Thankfully, it wasn't raining or other bad weather. The connecting bus was headed up the east coast and apparently this was the driver's first time on that route and she got lost several times. I eventually walked up front and told her the way to the bus stop. I am appalled that they don't use a garmin or even an iphone / iPad with the bus route. The driver was talking to her dispatcher, calling out cross streets to try to figure out where she was and where she needed to turn. The dispatcher didn't know the area either. We got to my destination with a little help, and a little late. The first bus had AC power at each seat so I could use my laptop or phone charger which was nice. Their wifi was also nice feature as well. The second bus didn't have working wifi or AC power ports. The bus was about the same time I could have driven it, but cost less than I would have spent on fuel. I'll do it again if needed but will be faster to offer guidance if I see the driver going the wrong way. Megabus, equip your drivers with a moving map, not a notebook. The bus costed a bunch of money, so the cost of a moving route map display would be minimal and would have cut about an hour off the second leg of my journey. read more

I was a little skeptical of Megabus after reading many good/bad reviews, but I was very IMPRESSED with my experience! From Tampa, FL to Fort Lauderdale, FL the bus was 30 minutes early to get everyone loaded on the bus on time and the bus driver, Clif, was very helpful in getting our luggage on board. Bus was very clean, outlets under every seat, and plenty of room. I am 6 foot tall and had plenty of leg room (hard to come by on buses). We had a 20 minute pit stop and he waited for all of us to get back on board. Food and drinks permitted on the bus. Very smooth and peaceful ride. Why Only 2 Stars?? Lesson Learned! Pay close attention to the Megabus Luggage/baggage policy or you may run into static as we did. Since the Megabus runs from Orlando to Downtown Miami for our 7 day cruise we thought, 'Why drive down to Miami & pay to park when the final stop of the Megabus is a 3 minute cab ride into the Port of Miami?' Wifey & I each packed a suitcase for the week Thankfully under the 50lb weight limit. My backpack was my carry-on and my wife's travel suitcase was hers. According to their policy we had excessive baggage and the travel suitcase was Not considered a carry-on. The clerk insisted that if my wife's carry-on was to come with we would have to purchase another fare. After a few minutes of failed negotiations we bought the stupid ticket since we didn't want to further ruin our trip. **What pissed me off was after our cruise and the journey back from Miami to Orlando... There was NO restrictions on size or # of bags. We felt so ripped off that I emailed corporate only to be blown off. Know before you go...get your tix early to save $$$ and pack 1 suitcase under 50lbs Max or you may get stuck having to purchase a ticket for your bag. (That is, unless one of the stops doesn't give a crap and looks the other way, but that's your gamble.) Now for the actual trip down & back we had no issues. Bus left Orlando.. On Time, Arrived to Downtown Miami...On Time. As far as the FREE WiFi...they need to rebrand that as 'FREE WiFi When It Works'. You CANNOT stream movies from NetFlix, Hulu+, or music. Free WiFi means you can scroll thru facebook & Instagram your entire trip. Ughhh. We may consider the Megabus again for future trips, but what stung the most was the poor customer service from corporate after we explained our situation. read more

Smooth ride, comfortable seats, and free (slow) WiFi! Mind the bag limit - one bag 50 lbs or less. Also, the MegaBus stop in Orlando has no parking and they don't give any recommendations. One post said there is $15 parking at a nearby lot. I took a cab to the closest airport parking, which is Park, Bark and Fly and they charge about $6/day. For longer stays, it's definitely worth the two $10 cab rides (I used Uber, but I'm not sure if those are technically legal in Florida) for cheaper parking. Given the low prices, MegaBus is a great way to travel! read more

On 9/18/16 I showed up at the Orlando Depiot. I gave the driver my reservation. He let me know it was for the Friday before from Miami. That was the first leg of my trip. I was on the bus that Friday. Somehow, the website sold me 2 tickets for the same date, time, and trip. I asked the driver what to do, rudely he said to call customer service but he was leaving at exactly 6 PM. It was 5:45. I called Cust Service, they told me it would be $ 50 for the one way ticket to Miami. I had to be at work the next morning. I told her fine, gave them my credit card number and thought I would leave it at that. I got on the bus, found a seat, and after leaving noticed the AC was not working. I called CS, they told me the busses were pre-set, there was nothing the driver could do. I was soaking in sweat. The lady in front of me was saying the same thing. There was no air blowing out of the vents. The 1st stop is Fort Lauderdale, I went downstairs to use the bathroom, a woman I ran into was complaining of how cold it was. She was sitting downstairs. I could not believe what I waas hearing. I was drenched in sweat. The power outlets don't seem to hold in the cords. I have not figured out how to get on the WIFI. Just a very bad experience. I make this trip every week. I live in Orlando but work in Miami. I am going to look into other ways to make the trip. Very dissatisfied with my first travel experience today Thursday July 28th 2016 using megabus. Today i was traveling from Orlando to Jacksonville on the 11am bus. To begin with, all staff were friendly and helpful. However... The bus station was not air conditioned. It was sweltering outside and even worse inside. I had to ask one of the employees how it all worked in terms of where to wait, where to board and when and whom to show my electronic confirmation to. If i hadn't asked i would have lost my place in line since there weren't visible instructions anywhere. While waiting to board for some strange reason the line formed outside in the blazing heat. There was plenty of space inside the bus station to form a line and there are doors that would have allowed us to exit right up to the bus door. Once inside the bus and seated we had to wait about 10 to 15 minutes in the bus with no air conditioning before departing while waiting for tardy passengers to board. It was a nightmare having to endure such heat with no ventilation even for that short amount of time. I started to feel sick and dizzy. Once the bus driver got in his seat he turned the ac on. It started to cool off immediately but unfortunately during the entire journey the temperature in the bus didn't cool enough to make a difference. It was definitely not cool enough in the bus (in the lower level) because i asked 3 other passengers if they felt the same as me and they did. They said it seemed as if the air conditioner wasn't even on. Above each seat next to the light buttons there are what appear to be 2 air vents but there was no air coming from them. I told some neighboring passengers i would go speak with the bus driver to try and remedy the problem. The bus driver politely said the air conditioner was running at its maximum level and there was not much else that could be done. I made sure to mention that other passengers agreed with me so it wasnt just me. He said there have been problems in the past with the ac not cooling the bus off. He said perhaps it would feel cooler if we passed through a rain shower or dark cloud. lol. I dont think i will ever use megabus services again. read more

Really awful. Earlier on these busses had different clientele, which if you hear anyone saying anything good it's from Thor ride a few years ago. Busses are dirty and the customer service is like a prison guard yelling at you. Bus stops are in the worst part of each town. That's there business model and how they save money. When the bus pulled up in Jacksonville I told my wife lets just take our car she said no... When we were on our way back from Orlando (to Jacksonville) the bus driver came on the intercom stating we were having to Atlanta. Naturally we asked if we were going to Jacksonville and the driver flipped out yelling "why you get on a bus and ain't know where it going!?" I mean loud and just mean. AVOID at all costs. My friend and I had a bus from Tampa to Miami scheduled for 9 am. After an hour wait we received an email saying the bus is not going to arrive for another 1.5 hours. We had a flight to catch in Miami and had to find another transportation, yet ended up missing the flight. Called customer service and explained how they caused us $350 in transportation and rescheduling fees. The least they could do is refund the minimum bus fare ($118) that we didn't even get to use due to their irresponsible drivers and scheduling errors. The agent laughed at me and said all they could offer is a 25% discount on future trips.. NO REFUNDS. Horrible customer service. This stupid company doesn't care if I'm calling more than 24 hours in advance, they just won't give you any other option than losing your money. I was told that I would be able to reschedule both of my reservations due to the fact I was unable to keep them because of hurricane Irma, but when I called to reschedule those reservations after going through three different customer service Representatives, I was told by the second I would be able to reschedule both reservations or get a full refund. When I asked how I would be able to reschedule these reservations, I was hung up on. When I called back and spoke to a third representative tonight, I asked for a supervisor because I had not gotten to one and I was told on my first call that I would be able to call back in 10 minutes and get a supervisor, but again was hung up on. Don't ever book with Megabus! They have terrible customer service (hung up on me and my mother when trying to voice our concerns) and unreasonable terms and conditions. My brother is stranded in the middle of an unknown city thanks to their incapable staff. Even though it was not his fault that the bus driver was 2 hours late he has missed his connecting bus and was required to purchase an additional ticket, however; the new ticket doesn't leave until 6 hours after his actual arrive time. If you don't mind purchasing a ticket and having to be stranded in an unfamiliar city then by all means this company is for you. I however will be taking my business elsewhere. Horrible customer service. Workers are very rude. While on my way to the bus stop, following my GPS to the address provided on the ticket, the GPS lead me to the same address but in a different area in Orlando because they irrationally did not include a zip code on the address. I missed my bus because of this and had to buy another one. They would not compensate me for my missed trip. I ended up paying $60 total for a bus ride where someone had urinated all over the floor in the bathroom. The bus was dirty and smelled badly. I would not recommend taking this bus. I honestly wish I didn't have to give them one star. They have been unapologetically late nearly every time I've used Megabus in the past and today the bus is over 1 hour and a half late (and counting) to pick up a family member in Florida. It is cold outside and late night/early morning so I called to get some more information on how long the customers would need to wait at the bus stop. The supervisors were unprofessional and wouldn't even answer on my second call (even though I had spoken to one supervisor 10 minutes earlier and he asked me to call back in 10 minutes time when they should have more information). The only explanation given during my first call to Megabus was that the bus to pick up at the Orlando stop and head to Atlanta, is still in MIAMI which is over 3 hours away. I rode the megabus from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale. I am writing this review to let you all know what a great experience I had. I know they've had some negative reviews, but honestly if you do your research and follow the rules, you shouldn't run into any problems. A lot of the problems customers are facing are fully or partially their own fault and could've been avoided. My advice is always arrive on time, follow the luggage allowance guidelines, come with your electronics fully charged and ride with low expectations. To me, the megabus was like any other bus ride I've ever taken. It's a vehicle getting you from point A to point B- Don't make it anything less or anything more than what it is. I arrived ahead of time & sat on the lower level by the emergency exit, as I heard this was safest. The bus was scheduled to leave at 6:30am. Loading began at 6am and we departed at exactly 6:32am, but I suggest ALWAYS arriving and being on the bus by the scheduled departure time. We were scheduled to arrive at 10:35am but we arrived ahead of time at 9:55am, so that was wonderful! I only brought only a backpack for my luggage but I was asked where my luggage was when I got there because my backpack was considered a carry on, so my assumption is you can bring a luggage to check in & a regular jansport-sized backpack as a carry on. I also carried a small wristlet. Ladies, if you bring a backpack, large/medium purse AND a luggage, they may consider that excess baggage, so beware. put your purse in your backpack or carry a small purse along with your carry-on, if possible. I didnt use the restroom or attempt to charge my phone, but to be safe, i brought everything fully charged. The wifi was spotty but I knew from research not to rely on it, so I brought my tablet filled with pre-loaded tv shows to watch. I brought snacks and water with me as our ride had no stops. I would definitely recommend the megabus to others and ride it again myself. The bus was clean and the driver was nice to all of us. They're not there to baby you, though, so dont expect them to be overly friendly. Theyre just there to drive you to your destination, so follow their rules and youll be okay :) Don't let the negative reviews scare you off, just try it for yourself. read more

I have used Megabus 5 times and the ONLY negative I have is.. if you are traveling after 7pm / overnight.. wear WARM clothing.. I am talking mittens, ear muffs, sweats, hoodie, fuzzy socks and a blanket. The busses are COLD. The bus stops must make a mint on selling the blankets (9.99 at Pilot ) when the Megabus rolls in. Other than it being cold as .. COLD.. I have no issues with Megabus. They leave on time ( with one exception- traffic coming into Atlanta ) clean busses.. and cheap bus fares. As a few others have mentioned.. they get you f rom point A to point B. And be prepared to wait for your bus outside, on a street, or Metro transportation area. i.e Marta stations, Greyhound Station, or Mass Transit station. so long as everyone listens and adheres to the talk low, earbuds for your mobile phones and music devices and clean up after yourselves.. It is a bus , but I gotta tell you , I found it very clean , wifi was OK and maybe the seats were even a bit larger than the last time I flew on an airline and that cost hundreds! bus driver was polite & professional. Yes, make sure the bag isn't too big /heavy - just like the airlines- get there early - just like you'd do for a flight -and yes, bring your own food and drink. Mega bus was on time, clean, and cost a fraction of the price of an airline ticket and you don't have to get body frisked by some stranger ranger at the airport! LOL read more

I'm seriously disheartened by the actions of megabus' company after booking a ticket online. I have yet to be refunded the $25 taken from my bank account. After booking a ticket online which then gave me a reference number, Megabus never sent me a confirmation email. The confirmation email includes the ticket that is needed to board the bus. However, they quickly withdrew the funds from my account to cover the ticket. I am sure this happens time and time again with other customers. It simply cannot be accepted. I then contacted customer service who said that there is nothing I can do and that my reference number is irrelevant without the payment confirmation email. They also said that I would not receive a response from customer service email address until 2-5 business days. The problem was that the ticket was booked on a Friday for a bus leaving the following Monday. They could care less about this logic and proceeded to hanging up the phone. During the call, they also said that they were unable to find my ticket information number with the email address or other personal information provided. Mind you, it is impossible to book a ticket without inputting your personal information including email address which I had just done a couple hours earlier. The customer service line contacted via email on Sunday night informing me that they, too, were unable to pull up my information. I use the same email for every booking online. I responded by giving detailed information on my booking, including their "reference number" which is completely pointless, only to be greeted with radio silence from the e-mail service. At this point, I'm concerned about the integrity of Megabus and it's affiliates. I will never book with Megabus again. It's best to travel with Redcoach as it is a more luxurious bus line. read more

Where do i begin, I was supposed to take a trip from Tampa to Atlanta with a connection in Orlando. I book these tickets and later that night i go to the location here i Tampa to catch this bus that was supposed to leave at 10:15....Yea so the bus doesnt make it until 10:40 and leaves around 10:55 which then not only makes it impossible for me to catch the connection but if i got on this extremely late bus i would've been stranded for almost 12 hours until the next bus was leaving. I call to inform customer service of my issue and the lady tells me that the only way for me to be assisted with this matter is for me to get on the bus, ride to Orlando, then miss the bus. After which give Megabus a call so they can "see" if they can assist then. So me being the brilliant person I am...I call my ride and go back home expecting to be able to speak to a reasonable person in the morning. Now i must say my expectations with this fraction of a customer service department were way too high. I called, spoke to a person named Odane who proceeded to tell me that at 8 am there still was not an update in the system of when the bus to Tampa had arived so he couldn't validate my concerns but i would have to send an email to inquiries@megabus.com to have someone look into the matter. My bag was lost on a trip from Atlanta to Orlando. Customer service was horrible and only took my name and number and said they would contact me. So who's response for my things?
