You will avoid having to pay for Uber/ Lyft/ Taxis etc and that can add up fast. This bus is free for Disneyland goers. Since I was in town for a conference, I had to pay for transportation to and from my hotel to that location. And then when I went to Disneyland, was able to use the Disney bus/ transportation. If you ever find yourself traveling to Orlando to visit Disney World, you should 1) stay at a Disney hotel and 2) take advantage of all their perks, such as the Magical Express which takes you from the airport directly to their hotel. We arrived in Orlando, grabbed our bags and followed the signs to the Magical Express. From there, we put on our magic bands which were provided to us before our trip. A magical express employee scanned our band and directed us to the right line. Before you knew it, we were in a bus headed to our first hotel! The bus itself has some Disney cartoons for you to enjoy while you embark on their bus. Getting on this bus really gives you the ultimate Disney experience and at no additional cost. First time boarding Disney's Magical Express bus. I like that the bus is up-to-date with comfortable seating, technologically updated with plugs for charging devices and tv screens showing cartoons and information about our specific resorts, theme parks and other disney properties. The reason for the 3 stars is because we waited over 20 minutes for more arrivals and the door of the bus was open, hence when we arrived it was in the high 80s and humid and the inside of the bus was reflecting that heat and humidity. The driver should have closed the doors and re-opened as people arrived. The driver was ok, wasn't as pleasant as our driver leaving the disney resort and not as informative either. I expect all "Cast Members" to have a pleasant demeanor, smile and be gracious to their customers (me) especially when it's your first time, first time impressions are lasting ones. Disney's Magical Express is awesome! I love free transportation from the airport to my Disney hotel and think it's one of the main benefits of staying on property. However the Welcome Center, is a slightly different story. It's still not a *bad* experience but man, the wait. They need to do something to speed it up a bit during peak times. I've been to Disney about 15x and usually don't have an issue checking in and getting to the hotel. But on this last trip we must have arrived at a busy time as lines were insane to check in for the bus. We ended up waiting 45 minutes just to get scanned in to wait for the bus. OY. We don't do Disney lines and didn't love starting off our trip with such a wait. It made my travel companion a bit crabby. Once we finally got to the front of the line though, staff was friendly and we got on the bus & going in less than 10 minutes after that. My best advice is to try to plan your arrival in a slightly more off peak time to avoid the lines. read more

This doesn't really exist anymore. At least not the way that it used to. I remember a time when you had to line up at the counter, and the line snaked around several times, and you had to register with the agent before you got in line for your bus. This was before Magic Bands, and was your first of many lines you'd stand in at Disney. Since Magic Bands, this process has gotten incredibly easy, and you just walk up and scan your Magic Band and they tell you what line to stand in. Line 10 is AKL for both villages and Coronado. A personal gripe of mine; I don't think Deluxe resorts should have to share busses. Before this trip, we'd always stayed at Polynesian and Grand Floridian. They are both Deluxe resorts, and they share with Contemporary, and all of those resorts are right next to each other, so it didn't really bother me. But this time we were at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and we stopped at Art of Animation and Pop Century before getting to AKL. I just think the Deluxe resorts are so much more expensive that they could get their own busses. In any case, I landed at the airport at 3:45, was on a bus by 4:15, and on resort at 5:07. I don't think it's worth the cost of an Uber to get there like a half hour faster, but that's up to you. One thing that's great about Disney is that you don't need to worry about transportation at all once you get there, and I really appreciate that. And if you check bags, you don't even need to get those, and they'll deliver them right to your room. I had a very early flight home though, and they picked me up excessively early. I got picked up at 5:30am for an 8:30am flight. I didn't have luggage, but if I did I could have checked it at the resort, so no one needs to be at the airport that early. I sat around for a good 2 hours before my flight. That might have been worth taking an Uber just so I could sleep another hour. We've used the Magical Express at least 7 times now, and never had any issues. I recommend it, and it's very easy to use. read more

It was my first time staying at Disney resort and since I was flying in from Atlanta, my sister recommended I take the complimentary Magical Express from MCO. I called ahead of my trip to make a reservation, although I ended up not checking my bags with them. I was having trouble locating where the bus station was, which is most definitely on the fault of MCO, not Disney. I finally found myself on the ground transportation level, then walked all the way to the end of the hall before I was almost waiting in line for the Cruise Line transportation. Thankfully, I glanced around, realized where I was, and rushed across toward where they were scanning Magic Bands to board the buses to the resorts. I would definitely recommend better signage but hey, I don't work here so, what do I know? Once you scan in at what looks like could be the entrance to Disney World, they will let you know your bus lane (I was 9) and I went straight to where they were counting the last few people onto the bus. They were at 50 people capacity, but the lady at the front asked if they could fit 51 (me) and let me on! Phew! They dropped off at a few resorts along the way before the Magical Express arrived at the Port Orleans - French Quarter. There was a Disney channel of cartoons and trivia playing on the charter bus TVs, which occupied not only the kids but even the grownup Disney buffs. Such a convenience to have as transportation when getting to your hotel in Disney world. Once arriving at Orlando airport, it took awhile to find where Disney Magical Express was located, but after walking back and forth and finally asking for directions we discovered it was located on the very lower level of the airport. Staff was very friendly and helpful please register ahead of time for this transportation service and make sure to have your confirmation number ready during checking in so that service can move smooth and fast. Disney Magical Express bus was large and clean, it also had a bathroom and tv's which of course played Disney movies. This is strange but it is one of the most memorable aspects of the WDW experience. It is well orchestrated (although other people sometimes turn it into an afternoon at the zoo). Otherwise plenty of staff guiding and looking for ways to streamline embarking the magical express. It is very Disney to provide a service where you don't even have to fetch your bags at baggage claim. I can imagine a bunch of behind the ears Disney people saying "won't baggage claim detract from the magic and facade of Disney" Lets take that out of the equation. If you are traveling to Orlando International and staying at a WDW resort, it only makes sense to use Disney's Magical Express. It's a free service where your check-in bags are delivered to your hotel room so you can bypass baggage claim. Additionally, you get motor coach transport to your WDW resort. I've used Magical Express many times and it never fails. You need to set it up in advance, so be sure to call Disney while you're still at home, since they will mail you special luggage tags to put onto your bags so they know to deliver them to your resort. Note that there are times where you would have to go to baggage claim yourself (e.g. if your flight is super early or super late) but for the most part they do a good job. When leaving WDW, the motor coach will pick you up around 3 hours before your flight. Utilize the airline check-in at your hotel so you don't have to check-in any bags when you get to Orlando International. Overall, this is an awesome service that Disney provides - I highly recommend! read more

Disney's Magical Express is a wonderful and efficient transportation perk when you stay at a Disney resort. Before you get to your departure airport, you have the option of placing yellow Disney bag tags on your checked baggage. What this allows is that when you arrive at MCO, your bags are automatically whisked to your Disney resort hotel and they will drop it off in your room. Sometimes your bags will be there before you get there but they say that your bags will be delivered to your room within 90 minutes of your arrival at the hotel. If you decide to not take advantage of this service (I chose not to), just grab your bags at baggage claim on the 2nd floor and then head down to the 1st floor where Disney's Magical Express Welcome Center is located. I was already wearing my Magic Band that was associated with my reservation and park tickets, so after scanning my Magic Band, I was directed to the bus queue for my Disney hotel. It's about a 45 minute ride to my hotel and after dropping me off with my bags, my vacation was ready to start. This is a great way to do a Disney vacation if you don't plan to go to other theme parks or want to drive around. I saved money on parking, rental car, and fuel and all the accompanied hassles with traffic and stress. I love this perk of staying at a Disney resort. read more

Disney really does try to make your trip as easy as possible (especially when you show up, not as much when you leave) and the Disney Magical Express is one way of doing so. If you are staying at a Disney Resort, this perk is included in your stay so take advantage if it suits your needs. Basically, Disney will send you luggage tags to put on your checked luggage indicating that it needs to go to your resort. So, instead of you having to go to baggage claim to get it, Disney staff will pull it from the carousel and bring it to your room within 3 hours (in theory - this did not happen for us and it took 6 hours and lots of phone calls for our bags to arrive at our room at 2am). Assuming all of that works, you head down from your plane to the DME Welcome Center where you scan your Magic Band (don't pack these in your checked bag!) and are sorted into a line depending on what resort you are staying at. If it is a busy time, you likely won't have to stay in line long. We arrived at MCO around 7:30pm and waited in line for 30min before we boarded the bus to head to our hotel. Lots of hotels will share a bus, so go in expecting the bus to be pretty full. The ride from the airport to the Disney resort area is around 40min with no traffic, but they play fun Disney trivia and cartoons on the TVs to make the ride go quicker. All in all, this is a great service, but we ended up pretty disappointed because no one could tell us what happened to our bags and why they arrived so late. We were not happy to wait up until 2am when we had to be at a park bright and early that same morning. read more

The only problem is the wait times for the bus... you never know how long you will be waiting unless there's someone available and monitoring your line. I looked around to see if they had a Countdown timer somewhere, as it would be helpful. I've only gone during less crowded seasons, but even so, bus wait time could be around 30+ mins. While you're passing the time, you'll have videos showing Disney trivia and advertisements playing on a big screen. The reason we booked a Disney vacation is largely because they normally have thought through every aspect of the process to optimize for a phenomenal guest experience. That is not at all the experience we and many others are having this morning. To start, my wife was simply trying to find a location to have me reconnect with them after I dropped off the rental car. She asked the Disney Cruise Line (DCL) "Concierge" who was very rude and short with her explanation of which, did not at all answer her question. Also to note, there was no concierge for a good 15 minutes in the middle of the chaos. When asking "what tine do we board, the concierge rudely stated "between 9am-10am but if you miss it, you have to wait in line all over again and your luggage will go without you". The next natural question we'd ask would be, "if that happens, where do we pick up our luggage if we miss the shuttle?" she replied, "I don't know you'll have to figure that out when you get there". Unlike most Disney attractions and theme parks, there was no hanging signage to help people figure out what their next steps should be. There were other guests wandering everywhere with no direction, all of which were asking the same question, "where to go and what to do next?". Once we got our character based ticket for the shuttle, the only boarding announcements were from a guy named Joe who walked 10 steps in each direction using a small battery powered speaker on his hip and a headset microphone that was completely insufficient amongst the many families who had children crying as well as other upset dads yelling due to the confusion. Recommendations for improving everyone's experience... 1. Overhead signage in a step by step (Step 1, Step 2, Step 3, etc) sequence. 2. Television monitors that let people know which character group was boarding. 3. An overhead speaker system so everyone everywhere in the lounge area could hear which group was boarding. 4. Friendly Disney staff that followed the traditional "always approach guests with a smile" attitude and genuine heart to help people. Basically, anything a traditional airport gate would do to help guests get themselves where they need to be with friendly service and a smile. The only saving grace was the awesome and hilarious bus driver, Jerry, doing to announcements. He put smiles back on people's faces and reminded us of the Jungle Cruise cast members with his dad jokes! Disney really Goofed this up (pun intended) but could fix the problematic chaos with a few simple adjustments to the guest experience before getting on the buses. read more

A couple of weeks before you Disney vacation you'll receive a package from Disney's Magical Express that contains your itinerary and special Disney luggage tags. The day you depart for the airport attached the tags to your luggage and check it in at the airport When you arrive in Orlando proceed directly from the arrival gate to the Magical Express terminal, scan your Magic Band and board the bus destined for your on-property Disney Resort. No need to collect your luggage the Disney Team Members will do it for you and it will be left in your room sometime that evening. Better pack a day bag so you have some fresh cloths when you arrive. The Magical Express will deposit you are your resort where you can check-in and immediately being enjoying all that the Walt Disney World Resort has to offer. The day before your departure another package will be left in your room containing instructions on where and when to be to catch the Magical Express back to the airport, boarding passes and luggage tags to once again pre-check your bags. No need to schlep you bags back to the airport Disney does it for you and they will be checked-in with the airline before you flight. It couldn't be easier, more convenient or magical. read more

Check in was fast and easy - all we had to do was touch one of our magicbands to the scanner and we were good to go. The friendly employee at our check in point directed us to our numbered line, and all we had left to do was wait until the bus got there. We were staying at Art of Animation on our last visit, which shares a bus with Pop Century. Our line was pretty full that day but our wait didn't exceed 15 minutes. When it was our time at the front of the line I scanned my magicband a 2nd time and we were directed to a bus. Since we'd used the luggage tags we received in the mail, we were able to board the bus without worrying about loading luggage underneath it. As soon as our bus was full we were on our way to the resort. Our luggage arrived to our room about 3 hours later, just in time to wind down and get some sleep. We will definitely be using this FREE service again! My one complaint, and it's pretty minor, is that if you come in on Southwest you have a looooooooong walk down to the Magical Express check-in. They are on opposite ends of the airport. My husband said it was just getting us ready for walking in the parks lol. read more

What an awesome experience. Basically, when you pre-arrange your trip, you are all taken care of. I had planned my trip several months in advance and about a 6 weeks out, I contacted Disney to arrange my travel and relay my flight information. 2 weeks later I received my Disney band and my luggage tag and this is pretty much all you need for your trip to Disney. I utilized Disney's luggage service, so all you need to do is go to the Welcome Center to find your hotel stay and Disney will pick up your luggage and deliver your luggage straight to your hotel room. WHAT?! This was so convenient!!! From plane to shuttle, it took me 10 mins - super easy peasy!!! Follow the signs to the Welcome Center, which is located on the bottom floor of the airport. The shuttles are luxury buses with bathrooms and takes about 30+ minutes to get to your hotel depending on where you're staying. I was staying at the Boardwalk Inn so it was the 3rd stop in the service. FREE SERVICE! Wear your magic band everywhere since you'll be scanning to get on the shuttle. Comfy, convenient and totally worth it! read more

Don't attempt to get in line or check in for the DME buses until your entire party is present and ready to board a shuttle. On our first visit this was not explained to us, and we were snapped at (rather aggressively) by multiple cast members for trying to check in while one member of our party was still on their way to the DME lounge area. Most of the time when traveling, one of us grabs luggage and someone else secured transportation. This system works best for us and it was not explained that there was no real "line" for the DME bus. I found that just about every cast member I dealt with on the airport side of this transportation system was unfriendly or borderline hostile. On our way back to the airport, despite confirming our request for a bus with an ADA wheelchair lift, we were sent not one but TWO busses with broken wheelchair lifts and nearly missed our flight. The second bus driver was insistent on getting the wheelchair lift to work and forced me into the lift, which then broke down again mid-air. I'm sure he meant well, but you can imagine how terrifying this situation is for someone who can't just hop down. The bus drivers need better training and the busses need to be inspected regularly. Eventually, with the help of Jyoti from the front desk at Art of Animation and her manager we were given a waiver to take a Mears taxi van to the airport. I'll note that this taxi was still not ADA accessible and I had to literally drag myself into the van. I had enough upper body strength to do so, but not everyone does, and the lack of ADA access is a problem. We're very grateful to the hotel staff for making sure we didn't miss our flight, even under these circumstances. The DME transit system is a good value for large families and people who don't need special assistance, but I may skip it next time and pay for accessible transportation. read more

The Magical Express is great. With the most promising service from and to the airport... That's off peak season... On peak season that's another story of its own. They take your luggage and a put it in the bus for you. The Drivers are very nice. But sometimes it's the waiting to get on one of these buses. to head to your Resort. that can be somewhat frustrating at times.. so bring your patience with you.. you could wait at least up to 1 or 2 hours. just for a bus to get you to the resort. This was our worst experience with the Magical Express. We stood at the very end of Line 7 (out of 11). NBD...don't go to Disney if you can't handle lines. However, they apparently miscounted because four of us couldn't board. Okay, but when we do go, we'll be first and we can sit in the front. Nope. We got stuck at the end of another line (most of which just walked up and got on), so we stood and sweated for 20 minutes and still got stuck at the back. Next time we go to Universal. read more

Disney's Magical Express Welcome Center was not very welcoming at all. We vacationed during March 11-17, 2017....obviously arrival day was March 11th. Time was around 3:30 when we landed. This is a review of the Welcome Center....the Disney's Magical Express Bus itself was smooth and convenient. There's a separate review listing for those who want to specifically check out the bus itself. The guy sitting at the booth where you scan your Magic Bands for THE first time to verify your information + hotel/bus time was rude and grumpy. (no pun intended.) Boyfriend didn't know how to scan his Magic Band (he's like a muggle in the world of Disney but he's getting better) and the guy rudely kept telling him "scan your band! Right here!!!!!!! Scan it!!!!!" Some direction, demonstration or even POINTING to where he can scan his band would've been nice. Even telling us "put your wrist against this Mickey symbol right now" would've suffice. We're adults, we can take directions but you have to show us. I'm sure there are plenty of first timers here...some even from International countries. He cannot just assume everyone knows what to do or where to point your dang Magic Band. Didn't think to look at his name tag. I wasn't about to let that rude mofo damper the start of our magical vacation. read more

This was the easiest way to get to and from the Walt Disneyland Resort from the airport. If you are staying at one of their hotels, you get free transport to your hotel which is super convenient. Just make sure you call ahead to make all arrangements. When you exit the plane, head down to the transportation center and check in. Because there are so many hotels, you need to make sure you get in the right line. If you have a ton of luggage, they'll even pick it up for you and drop it off at your room so you don't have to stand around at the baggage claim area. Just use the baggage tickets they provide you when you get your vacation confirmation details via snail mail. The ride itself is super quick and smooth. They play family friendly flicks to help pass the time or you can just take in the scenery if you've never visited the state. The seats themselves are comfy and it's just a great experience overall. As we got to the front of the line and after they scanned our magic bands to get on the bus they then told us to get back in line and wait about 30mins for a bus, because not enough people where here to take the bus, we have been on a plane for over 3hrs and it's is 11:30 at night we just wanted to get to our room. You have to love Disney's Magical Express!!! This is the best service you can get when arriving to your vacation destination. Especially if you've never been here before and wouldn't know where to go if you had a rental car, which you don't need if you're staying at a Disney Resort anyway. When you book your Disney vacation with enough advance they send you yellow luggage tags in the mail for you to put on your luggage when you are checking your baggage for your flight leaving home. Included with the yellow tags are your itinerary for your trip. The yellow tags helps Disney identify your luggage when it arrives in Orlando. The absolute best thing about this service is that when you arrive in Orlando you don't have to go to baggage claim and wait for your luggage. You can follow the signs that lead you to the Disney Magical Express and check in to one of the kiosks and the cast member will tell you which line to wait in. A bus will come and take you right to the front entrance of your resort and all you have to do is take yourself to check in. Once you've checked in you can go to your room if you want or you can go start your vacation. It may not be right when you check in to your room, but before the night is over, your luggage will personally be delivered to your room and you didn't have to do anything! #64/100 read more

I have never had a more pleasant transportation experience than riding with Disney's Magical Express. Sure leaving our luggage with strangers was intimidating, but boy was it nice not having to deal with baggage claim. And our bags did appear in our Disney resort room as if by magic. Plus were able to more peacefully check our luggage at our resort's desk for the return trip. Meanwhile the bus rides to and from the airport were timely, smooth with a clean coach, AC, and Disney Blog videos. But our favorite part was the driver reminding us we were still on vacation as he clearly and kindly provided airport layout instructions. This was my second time taking the Magical Express bus to our resort in Disney and I found during this trip, the folks over at the welcome center weren't as welcoming. The first time we went, they were extremely friendly, teaching us noobs how to use our magic bands and all. This time, even though we know, there was no typical Disney friendly type of greeting. You can feel an immediate tension between you and them as if they don't want you here. The geezers who worked during our arrival were certainly not the warmest Disney employees and we came across several more later during this trip. I noticed these type of employees were extra friendly to the hicks who visited. Smiles and all, asking where "y'all" from? When it was our turn, it was more like "get the the F out of my face, you're holding up my line" type of behavior... Nevertheless, I still find the magical Express service to be one of the most convenient amenities Disney resorts have to offer to their customers. Can they work and improve on customer relations? Easy check in for the Magical Express. Great way to start a weekend at Disney. The only complaint really is with the airport. The directions to the check-in were terrible. There were 8 of us traveling and none of us could figure out how to get there based in the signs, and at midnight the number of staff to ask directions were minimal. read more

Well I had a horrible experience. The lady that "helped" us by the name of Sadiaa, began the conversation not with a Hello, but asking for some band when we said we didn't have one but we had a reservation , she immediately asked if we were even from the US with a horrible attitude!! All we were trying to do is get in the shuttle to get to our resort. From beginning to end her check in experience was horrible and a horrible way to start our vacation. We sat there for over an hour before they'd launch the bus because they wanted it to be completely full. There were a good 35-40 people that sat there for over an hour because every seat had to be filled. The buses around us left and came back several times while we were waiting. They rotated through the different trivia they had playing on the bus 3x because we were on there so long. Poor quality and bus driver just seemed like he wanted to get rid of us. read more

First time at Disney so also my first time using the Magical Express. Even though I had a checked bag I decided to pick it up myself and bring it over with me. We were in Terminal A so we followed the signs to Terminal B and then followed the signs for the Magical Express. It probably took us about 10 - 15 minutes to get to the check in and we only stood in line for about 5 minutes before getting on the bus. Not sure how long it took before we actually left but it might have been about 20 minutes. We landed at about 8:15am and got to Coronado Springs at around 9am so it wasn't that bad. Staff was friendly and helpful. When we checked out of the hotel the bus arrived about 5 minutes after the time the paper said. We stopped at 2 other hotels before heading over to the airport. We arrived at the airport with still a bit over 2 hours until our flight so the timing was perfect. A great experience and well worth staying at a Disney resort for. read more

Great service to get to and from airport to and from your Disney resort. They play videos on the bus ride of all sorts of stuff and its not a long trip at all. Plus its complementary with the room you book on a Disney resort property. read more

First time ever using the Magic's Express! It was such an easy process for my husband and I. We had our magic bands ready and all our paper work in hand. We definitely made our cast members time easier scanning us in! Hopefully our next experience will be just as great as the first time. read more
