So glad we finally tried this place out, since we hadn't visited many Indian restaurants before, we weren't sure what to expect. The first time I came here was with my daughter, she'd been wanting some Butter Chicken. We also ordered Tandoori Chicken, as well as Masala Fries & Garlic Naan. When all the food arrived, the Tandoori chicken stood out, since it arrived still sizzling on its own cast iron fajita style pan. The aroma of the food was delightful and we were ready to eat. Everything was so delicious, we knew that we just added a this restaurant to our family's long list of Good Eats! As far as portion size, we were aware that a third dish would likely be necessary if mom was with us. Which is why on our second visit my wife joined us, we skipped the Masala Fries and had their Biryani Chicken instead. This was more than enough, even had to take some home. Did I mention you don't have to ask for water? A glass bottle of cold water is brought to your table and refilled as needed. We ordered fried appetizers, curries, dessert, and the mango drink through DoorDash. Everything arrived well-packaged, hot, and delicious. My favorite was the fried appetizer: paneer pakora! I had never tried it before and thought it was fried tofu at first, but then I realized it's breaded Indian cheese. It was perfectly crunchy on the outside and firm, savory, and flavorful on the inside. I loved the layer of sauce inside the cheese--it added so much flavor. So good! The beef and chicken curries we ordered were also excellent--rich, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the complimentary rice. I believe they changed management at this place. We ordered a delivery for chicken curry, rice and naan. Food arrived without the rice! we called them, they said we can go there and get the rice. We drove to the place and got the rice which was old and probably from left overs since it looked different colors. We got stomach discomfort from that old rice. Will never go there again. The spice level is real and you can make it mild or level 5 or Indian hot as the waiter said! The naan is fresh. The chicken tikka masala is so solid The desserts are all excellent as well. Better quality than any Indian buffet! Gulab jamun came out hot and fresh. The kheer was full of cardamom flavor. The real star is that they can customize their dishes to make them nut free and a lot of places don't do this. My husband loves chicken tikka masala but is allergic to cashews! We've ordered from Mehfil a handful of times for take out, and have dined in as well. We are so thankful to have such a wonderful local restaurant serving delicious Indian food. I love the chicken biriyani and chicken tikka masala. The chicken biriyani is packed with flavor, and it comes with a side salad (cucumber, lemon, jalapeños, onions) and a yogurt side dip/sauce. They have beer and wine for those who drink. I love that they have a large outdoor patio for guests! They have TVs, heaters/fans out there so people can host get-togethers/parties. My first time trying this place. I ordered Chicken 65 and I forgot to mark whether I wanted naan or rice on the order so they just gave me the chicken without any sides. I am disappointed about that. I picked up the order in person and they could have asked me to verify but sent me home with just the chicken and no sides. Their chicken was a little different than how I have tried it at other restaurants but it was good. I also ordered their vegetable samosas and they were good. They screwed up our order and the chicken curry is basically just water with a bunch of oil and a very small portion amount. I don't feel like I got $30 worth of food at all they give you big pieces of naan barely any curry with chicken. You can see all the oil floating on top of the curry chicken watered down curry chicken. Definitely will not come back again! The customer service is very nice and prompt but the food is just not there. Update I called and spoke to the manager when I got home. I explained the situation, and he refunded for the two items that we did not order, and he apologized. That is commendable and honorable of him to refund the money. I went safe and ordered veggie samosa and an order of the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan bread. The samosas were just that, a samosa but decent. Oh my goodness. It is rare that I have food so good that it flips on my "crave" switch. I had the Chicken Tikki Masala and it was so perfectly cooked and seasoned that I had to eat the entire dish. My wife got a chicken dish with rice that was also very good. Service was prompt and courteous, and the restaurant was clean and smelled good. There were only a few of us in the restaurant at lunch. I give that a 0/10 I even complained when I went to eat inside (first time) charged me $8 for 2 even though I complained and said it sucked. For this Ill never go back again. It is so satisfying to come to an Indian restaurant that has lots of vegan items on the menu, which also happen to be delicious. We usually order the samosas for appetizers, the potato curry and the channa masala. But we have branched out once or twice and ordered the lentil soup, mixed vegetable curry, aloo gobi, and vegetable biryani. Everything has been tasty. There are all of the customary non-vegan items on the menu as well, so non-vegans don't be shy! Our only complaint is the lack of a vegan bread on the menu. I visited the Dallas area this past weekend and was in the mood for some Indian food. A local friend recommended Mehfil which was in the area I was staying. He told us that they had their grand opening during peak Covid which had forced them to shut down but they had since reopened and offered some of the best authentic Indian food in the area. This peaked my interest. I went to the restaurant around 3:30 pm for a late lunch. The restaurant itself had a nice contemporary feel and didn't have the same boring themes that most other Indian restaurants have (Indian music blasting, tvs playing Bollywood music videos, and portraits across every inch of their wall). During my visit there were about four other families that were dining in but I was immediately greeted and seated upon my entrance. The waiter was extremely friendly and in a minutes notice brought water to my table. As I looked through the menu I was amazed to see the variety of dishes, it seemed almost like hundreds of options. But being the basic person that I am I kept my order simple...garlic naan, rice, butter chicken, and chicken curry. I didn't think that would be enough food considering my appetite but boy was I in for a surprise. The food was out of the kitchen in no more than 10 minutes. Upon receiving my food I started salivating from the aroma. As an Indian person myself I was blown away by the fresh fragrances. Secondly, the portion size was ridiculous. I got enough food to feed a family of six. And don't even get me started on the taste, every bite was an experience in itself. Just an explosive of unique flavors. I was unable to finish all the food but the waiter was kind enough to pack away the rest to go. I would highly recommend this place to any foodies. It is worth every penny. The staff is awesome, the atmosphere is inviting, and and the food is next level. I will definitely be visiting again the next time I'm in the Murphy area. read more
