Boy this store has really gone downhill. There are never enough cashiers working and the lines to checkout frequently back up into the clothing area- more than once i have abandoned a cart full of groceries after gasping at the unreasonably long lines. Self-checks are out-of-order. Aisles full of half-eaten food that some one left behind. The employees are constantly stocking shelves and acting like you are in their way just by shopping. Little kids running around screaming with their parents or guardians nowhere insight. Pathetic hustlers hassling you to buy candy for their school or church function or maybe to sign a ballot proposal. Several times I arrived to find that there no carts available in the store and i had to walk back outside to find one- and let me tell you that you can see how freaking disgusting the cart holding pen area is when its empty. The price-check scanners often are out of order. Sale items are quickly snapped up for resale by local party store owners. You can't buy a gift card at self check. My car got hit by some drunk-ass who tried to park in the 2 foot space between me and the cart corral. Bottle return machines are broken and the floor there is sticky and smells like vinegar. Is that it? I'm not even sure I got it all. Look I really want to support a Meijer as a Michigan company, especially when the competition (kroger) is an Ohio company. But these guys need to do much much better. read more

I can't understand why this Meijer is so well liked or if most of these reviews are of the company as a whole. This location is pretty awful. The recycling machines are almost always broken. Last time I was there, an employee blatantly told me that they've rarely worked in the 6 years she's been there. I've never gotten a properly working cart; they always have one wheel broken or wobble or make horrible noises. Even if the floor is cleaned, the place just has a general look of old dirt. The shelves are usually well-stocked but this often means maneuvering around employees who act like you're somehow always in their way. Of the 40-something checkout lanes, I've never seen more than 5 open at a time. Unless I want to pretend like I work there and check myself out, the wait can sometimes double the amount of time I'm in the store. Currently, I'm trying to call to see if the recycle center is working so I don't waste my time driving down there but since I've been listening to this awful wait music for over 20 minutes now, I'm probably just going to drive there anyway to see that it's broken in person. read more

I'm writing this review to tell you about Meijer's meat. First of all, let me tell you that this store makes me mad because I SPEND TOO MUCH MONEY THERE. I'm going to have to start putting limits on myself as to how much I can spend. Anyway - the meat. I bought center cut, loin pork chops and they were awesome. I then bought T-bones and they were awesome. I've been back for the same again and they're still awesome. Can't recommend their meat department highly enough. read more

Pros and Cons Pro: Open 24 hours, unlike the Detroit locations. Pro: Walk-in beer cooler area, great for cooling down when you overheat in August. Con: Poorly organized. For example, I (eventually) found Banquet pre-ccoked frozen breaks\fast sausages under the sign labelled "sandwiches". There doesn't even seem to be a "breakfast" sign in the frozen food section. Also, each Meijers is organized slightly differently, meaning knowing the layout in one doesn't help in another. And the signs above each aisle are too high with too small of writing to be able to read, especially the signs at the far end. So then you are left with scanning every shelf, which doesn't work if you can't see some because there are customers parked in front. Ideally they would have kiosks where you could type in the name of an item and it would do a Google search (near match) to find it and point to the exact aisle and shelf, although I would be skeptical that they could ever have all the products listed and keep the locations correct, even if they were relocated. (They would need some type of RFID chip technology that doesn't require employees to enter data to hope for that.) Con: There aren't enough self-serve checkout lanes, as is true in most Meijers. At busy times, there are long lines, especially when some are closed for maintenance. And going late at night may not help, because they put the self-serve lanes at both ends of the store, and only keep one set open after 10 PM, so you may still have to wait in line. The Detroit-Grand River store got smart and put them all together, so one employee can tend them all, but then they close at 10 PM, so you still can't avoid the long lines by going late at night. It's as if there's a conspiracy to always make people wait in line while their ice cream melts. They should mostly be self-checkout lanes, and always be open, with only a few old manual checkout lanes for those who hate new technology. read more

I absolutely love this Meijer location!!! It is a very, very clean store. Very nice selection of products. I am very impressed with the produce department. It is far superior to Kroger's. And they are very helpful - a gentleman named Moses works in that department and he is very friendly and helpful. The meat department is also fantastic! My only issue with this Meijer location is with the deli department. The wait is soooooooooooo long!! Otherwise, I highly recommend this Meijer location! read more

I can't tell you how often I shop at Meijer. Usually, I go to this store. The only time I don't is when I get bored with going to the same place over and over again. That being said, I prefer this Meijer to the majority of the Meijers I've been to (I've been to a lot). I enjoy the layout and they're always rich in stock when I'm there, no matter what time of day. The workers seem friendly and some of them are in just such great moods that I can't help but smile. The only reason it didn't receive a five-star rating is because some of their produce sits too long and doesn't look good to eat. read more

Angela is a front-end manager who is knowledgeable and does her job efficiently - BUT with zero people-skills. She's stressed out and snappy to employees, and unkind and judgemental to customers. For example, I brought back a bag of groceries to get some coupons applied that didn't go through the first time (along with my MPerks). Before understanding the situation fully she said, "I bet you chose the wrong salad blend and that's why the coupon didn't work. And for the canned fruit, I'm sure you just chose the wrong ounce size. Customers aren't reading the fine print. Yeah, I'm SURE that's what happened". I didn't want to embarrass her, so I let her read the coupons to see for herself. She quietly refunded and rerang my order - but was still very snappy about it. "Enter your PIN number". How about please? Or "go ahead and..."? I'm not an employee, but you're barking orders at me like I am. I'm so sorry for anyone that has to deal with her... I think her tag said "Angela S." but can't recall. She was also immediately defensive when I mentioned Sheryl (who was very nice and spoke with me on the phone) had my coupons held in the office. She said, "She's in the bathroom and I'm NOT going to go get her!" I just stared at her blankly. Um, I never demanded that you should and was actually fine waiting. I said OK, waited patiently, and was still pleasant with her. For how we interacted, you would think I was the employee (manager, mind you) and she was the demanding customer. Perhaps she has too much stress. Customer service isn't for everyone. She should really think before she speaks and try to treat others as she'd want to be treated. A smile and some kindness go a long way. read more
