After 5 minutes, lights in the display case I browsed through suddenly went off. I thought it was that area only, but turned around and systematically I witnessed other cold food displays were being turned off with exception to the meat area located in the middle of the floor. The store closes at 11:00pm so I thought it was a mistake with timers. But I was in for a rude awakening when over the PA system around 10:35pm I hear the first of the weirdest announcements... 'the store closes at 11:00pm, so if you are not at checkout by 10:55pm, you will not be able to buy your groceries.' I realized the workers were trying to force shoppers out of the store. This crude announcement was made several times in between a more civilized (what I believe) recorded announcement. I also realized I had been at that store before some time ago and heard the same style pushy message. I went to self checkout purposely after the threatening 10:55pm deadline as a test...paper tiger. By the way, I found that checkout lanes with a cashier are shut down at 10:00pm...go figure. Now, here is the coup de grâce. A young lady said while walking through shoppers commented to her peer 'they must have us confused with Southfield.' Of course meaning, we don't play that game of staying any later than we want. Not that I believe this a new breed of worker...there are simply more of them in these times...old and young. My Father always stated "you're only as good as your management team." Which points out, owners and leadership allow this behavior, if not aid and abet.

They have certainly kept up with the times and modernized the experience. I still enjoy coming here every single time with the wonderful selections of fruit vegetables, prepared foods and specialty items. I always pick up fresh herbs as well. They have brought back the salad bar and the soup bar and it is even better. I had the chicken noodle and it was scrumptious and so comforting. Of course, I also visit the Joes meat store as well. Great service wonderful quality meats, chicken, pork, seafood, and sausage sausages. Don't forget Joe's bakery as well. This has really become a one stop shop and I love it.

Most of the time, they are under stocked, refrigerated items have sat in the isle. Sale prices fail to show on receipt (not the ones you have to clip). The cashiers there have TERRIBLE attitudes. Will dismiss you if they don't feel like engaging even when you have a legitimate gripe. The store could use consistent cleaning and the entire store smelled of bad fish on one visit. This store could easily be confused with a generic neighborhood grocery store and not a well known chain brand.

I am writing to report a concerning incident that occurred at the Aldi location on Middlebelt Road…read morenear I-96 in Livonia earlier today. After completing my purchases through a cashier (not the self-checkout), I returned to my car in the parking lot. Shortly afterward, the store manager approached my vehicle and took a photograph of both me and my license plate without explanation or consent. This action was unexpected and made me feel uncomfortable and singled out. I then went back into the store to ask for an explanation. The manager informed me that I had been mistaken for someone else and that I was "the wrong person." While I understand that errors can happen, the way this situation was handled--particularly photographing me in the parking lot--was inappropriate and distressing. I would like clarification on Aldi's policies regarding photographing customers, as well as reassurance that this type of incident will be addressed to prevent it from happening to others.

I love Aldi. This Aldi located in Redford, MI, is horrible. Christmas Eve. Crowded store. Only 2…read morelines are open. Every time I go only lines 3 and 5 are open. Every Time. The line is always down the aisle. Aldi is supposed to open more lines if there are more than 2 people in line. Never happens. Manager was working the register and is a complete asshole. Very passive aggressive. Even when you nicely ask him questions. I asked why this location only has 2 lines open with the line all the way to the back of the store. All he says is " Why do think? It's Christmas. I informed him that every time I visit this store it's like this. I asked him why he don't hire more people and how much Aldi pays because my nephews are looking for jobs. He said they only hire via internships. I told him I wasn't shopping at this location again because you have to wait so long in line. His response was 'I'm sure we will survive'. And they will. But if enough people stop shopping there, he'll be out of a job. He was not nice in this conversation, very passive aggressive. I'm sure this is why this location don't have enough employees. Just this brief interaction with this manager (cashier) and I knew I would quit if he was my boss. A complete jerk. Go to any Aldi but this one. Worst experience every time.

I always considered Westborn a very expensive market because I live closer to the Westborn in…read moredowntown Plymouth. The neighborhood makes a difference in prices! This was my first time visiting Westborn Market in Livonia. The Livonia location has much better deals that I would never imagine finding at the Westborn in upscale Plymouth. There were good sales on cherries ($1.99/lb) and eggs (Dutch farm extra large eggs for $1.69/dozen). The vegetables look fresh and are reasonably priced. Some of the baked goods made at Westborn are still higher in price and on par with the location in Plymouth, but it's good to see some deals. This Westborn is also much larger than the one in Plymouth with lots of parking. I recommend coming to the Westborn when in Livonia!
