Meijer has become less consumer friendly than it was a couple decades ago. They had a policy of good prices only if you buy 2, 3 or more of an item, which they have eased off of lately. They often charge more for larger quantity items per ounce or pound, expecting that consumers will not look at the price per unit and another trick is to vary the price per unit by using different units of measure, making it more difficult to compute which is the better deal. If they mix liters, quarts, ccs and ounces in a liquid such as soft drinks, it is not customer friendly. My wife and I did our grocery shopping at Meijers on 4/11/25. We sawrao's meat lasagna family frozen dinner that had a sign on it on sale for $8.49 regular price $12.49 We went up to the register where they charged us $12.49. I went back to frozen foods and took a picture of the sale price. I took it to the service desk and showed her and she told me sorry that has expired five days ago. If you live in Michigan near a major city, Meijer is the original big box store. Their fruits & produce are pretty good, as is their selection of meats, cheeses & anything in a can. Here's a tip: join their loyalty program, and they will send you coupons you can actually use, based on what you have been buying. By scanning one QR code from the coupon mailing, I probably save 15-20 dollars each visit. Here's another tip: get there in the morning or around 1pm, no long lines read more

We found this Meijer in Birch Run on our way home with a planned stop at our local store so we decided to stop now and save the time to go to our regular store. The bonus here was that it had the exact same layout as our regular store so I knew where to find everything. We quickly maneuvered our way around the store grabbing items from our list and were ready for checkout before we knew it. Interactions we had with staff here were friendly and helpful but professional. Because the store layout matched our normal one near home, until we finished checking out and paying and left the store I forgot that we still had about a 45 minute drive home instead of the usual five minutes. But I think we did save a little time by stopping here because our usual Meijer is a few miles off the direct route. read more

I went to Meijer with my girl to buy her a fishing pole. We found one we liked but the reel handle wasn't put together fully. I went walking thru the store and approached the first worker I could find and asked him for tools to help put it together correctly and his reply was "I don't know man we are just a grocery store. So I then went back to to department and grabbed a Allan wrench set and took it to the front counter. I proceeded thru check out line and asked the cashier to open this so that I could see if it worked. He had to ask two different supervisors for help which they didn't give. I won't be going back to this store ever again. Not willing to do anything for their customers was so unprofessional. I guess manners and work courtesy just don't matter to them. All in one type of store. This store has everything from your grocery needs to cute clothing. And the best part about it is that it is at a decent price. Since moving away from Michigan I have not found a store like this near me. Due to this every time I come back to Michigan I stop by and check out Michigan. Tip: Highly recommend the workout clothes from Meijer. Usually the workout clothes are marked down or a buy one get one 50% deal. Additionally, Meijer has really started to stand out for clothing that is inclusive of all sizes and is actually cute. read more

This Meijer is always out of the things on sale. Never fails, they NEVER have the merchandise that I go there for! The lines are always a mile long, with 3 lanes open. Don't worry though, they always have a manager directing people what line to get into. As if we need someone telling me what line is shorter. I have given up on this store! Bought a prepay Visa card from Meijer in Birch Run. When I wanted to deposit more money onto to card, something went wrong so the transaction declined. The customer service clerk attempted again and was successful. Same thing happened the second time I wanted to apply money. The clerk REFUSED a second attempt. Needless to say, I'm disappointed in the customer service and will not return to this store. I had to go all the way into Clio's Walmart, which applied money to the card with no problem. read more

I like this store. Growing up in Michigan, Meijer's always had good prices. They are like a super store. They sell food, clothing etc. Similar to Fred Meyers (Freddie's) in Oregon where I live now. But this place has better prices than the Freddie's in Oregon and a much better selection. This store has been here about 6 years? It's the closest Meijer's to where my Dad lives. He lives in Vassar out in the boonies. I was so happy when I first discovered this store so near to my folks house because I could run here and get just about anything I needed while visiting instead of driving forever. (Think koegels viennas and pickled bologna since I can't get that in Oregon) I have been here late at night to get medicine, been in the middle of the day to pick up supplies and in the evening. The parking is always easy and the people that work here are always helpful. Store is clean and well maintained. read more

I usually like shopping at Meijer in Birch Run Mi. I hadn't been able to get there in quite a while. The front of the store had changed drastically. Once I found what I was looking for I headed to the check out lanes. I still prefer to go through a check out lane where some is there to scan and bag my items. When I made a comment on the changes in the store the check out guy rolled his eyes and said "what ever". He looked like it was killing him to be there. As he was scanning my items I could see the sale prices reflected. When I asked him he rolled his eyes and called someone. A manager of someone came and checked out my purchases and showed me that my items were ringing up correctly. The register doesn't show the original price minus the percentage off. When all was well again, Mr Grump Bucket took over and finished cashing me out. How bad can it really be to stand in a check out line and be unfriendly to customers. Guess that is a vote for self check out. read more

If I could give a store a negative star rating it would be this Meijer's. the checker was more worried about gossiping than checking people out. After 30 minutes I just pushed my cart out of line and left. I don't understand why the store had only 5 lanes open on a Saturday night. read more

This is the worst store I have ever shopped in.I do shopping for my elderly parents which are in there 80's and are on a fixed income .My father is a Veteran. I clip coupons for them so they can save money and eat better. Meijer in Birchrun Mi. will not take hardly any coupons . They say they will take competitors coupons and manufactures coupons. I had a cart full of food and other items totaling 306.87 . I had a stack of coupons totaling around 60.00 . The checkout woman almost immediately started to complain that she had to look back in the computer to see if I had all of the things I had coupons for. Then every coupon had some kind of trouble would not scan. Then she said they didn't take Target coupons I said your coupon policy says you take competitors coupons. She gets on the phone calls a manager I guess then tells me only if they will scan which they didn't .Finally I said to her just forget it give me my coupons back she said that she could not because they were in her drawer I said give them back She gave me some of them and kept the ones worth the most . I was not going to pay for the food I picked up my purse and my coupons and walked out of the store . I have spent thousands of dollars at Meijer but they will never get another cent from me.I hope others walk out when they won't honor there own policy. read more
