I am thankful and grateful that we have Far East Market in our community. They have multiple varieties and selections of Asian food items especially Filipino food ingredients and sweet treats .Chao and her husband are very friendly and accommodating to all their customers. Wonderful market with a great selection of fresh produce, baked goods and an abundance of sauces, noodle dishes and frozen entrees and desserts - All very well-priced. You will likely find whatever it is that you are looking for; it's a small space that carries it all. The owners are always welcoming and truly happy to help with any questions I have. There have been a few times that they ran out of items I needed, and they were happy to have it waiting and set aside for me, the following week. Great hospitality - I love going to here. read more

Great little shop with everything I need, except fresh produce. They did have a few odds and ends like taro and some herbs in the fridge, but some of them were looking like they've had better days. Maybe I came by on an off day because on my first visit the Korean radish looked great and a few weeks later it looked like it could have been the same ones sitting there all that time.. Although the shop is small, the selection of pantry items is excellent. Just be sure to check the expiration date just in case; some of them were getting a little close. They have your typical Chinese dried ingredients like wood ear mushroom and Szechuan peppercorns, a big selection of noodles including instant noodles (Indomie and Nong Shim Black, check and check), and a nice assortment of sweets like the classic Choco Pie and green tea-flavoured Kit Kats. Don't forget to check the fridge and freezer because they have some good stuff there like Korean salted shrimp and green tea mochi ice cream. The prices are fair and the little lady working there is kind and very up front. We were about to buy a bag of broken rice and she stopped us, asking how we were going to use it. When our answer didn't satisfy her, she explained that broken rice would give a different texture and recommended regular short grain white rice instead. This delightful market changed ownership in 2017 so you would be well advised to consider reviews posted before that date as probably outdated. Don't let the unassuming exterior of this market deceive you. There are literally thousands of hard to find items lining the shelves, freezers and refrigerators of this well organized and thoughtfully arranged store. Two of my personal favorites are Pompano and Red Snapper. These popular and wonderfully flavored fish are extremely hard to find this far from the Gulf of Mexico. The Far East Market also carries an abundance of other seafoods including several varieties of shrimp, squid, shellfish and an amazing selection of fin fish. Fresh fruits and vegetables popular both in the far east and in America can be found here. Beef and pork items, some of them difficult to find elsewhere, are also available. And then there is the Rice! Dozens of specialty imported rice varieties, suitable for almost any use, can be found here. The huge number of imported sauces, canned goods, spices, teas, seaweeds, soft drinks, chips and candies help round out the list of products. I enjoy going here. I love the variety of noodles...I always stock up when I visit. The kim-chi they make is delicious! Once when my ex and I stopped in, we asked the little grandmotherly lady how to make kim-chi. Before we left, my ex asked one more time to make sure he remembered. She said, "Whaat?! You not know how make kim-chi?! Oh, so easy! You stupid or something??" It was hilarious! They even have aloe vera drinks here, coconut milk, some veggies and sauces. read more

A small asian grocery store owned by Vietnamese people (yes there's Chinese characters on the store sign, but they're Vietnamese. I could be wrong, but I guess they bought it from previous owners and kept the name?). Pretty good selection of items, particularly Chinese, although other countries such as Vietnam are represented. Mostly packaged, canned and frozen foods, including durian, dumplings, and grass jelly drinks. There's a small vegetable section with items such as napa and lemon grass but no fresh meat or vegetables. A small glass case included some phone cards and a few Vietnamese DVDs. Very helpful! I went straight to the counter and told the man that I wanted to make sushi for the first time, he took me around the store, showed me all the basic necessities, and explained why he thought certain brands were better than others. Will definitely be going back! read more
