This is the location I go to most often. The reason why I give it four stars is because it has pretty much everything you'd expect at a large grocery store. Service is fine; it's not difficult to find workers there who can help you out if you're having a hard time finding certain items. The people manning the front doors are always super sweet. I docked off one star because of the express and self check out line. 90% of the time I am there, it seems like there are a couple of booths that aren't working. Especially the express self check out. There are three booths there, and most of the time, only one is working. And usually when I look over to that one booth, there is one person with a Meijer staff member trying to help fix issues with transactions! The grocery store is decently clean; I have been at Meijer that are much cleaner. But I can't complain too hard about it - it doesn't affect my shopping experience. This is one of the newer Meijer locations, but they have the same old attitude and issues of other stores. No departments are properly staffed. You literally have to walk around and hopefully find someone who will help. Most just say they will call someone over, and good luck getting a team member to show up. Their on-site Starbucks is a disaster. Serving stale and moldy banana bread. (It's not their fault, by the way. They claim they "just put it in the bag.") Managers just walk the traditional Meijer corporate line here. They want to keep their jobs and will admit no wrong doing whatsoever. So much for small town hospitality, right? Most times this place is crowded with the GVSU crowd. The idiot and the entitled masses seem to think that they own this place. They won't look up from their phones and be bothered to move out of the aisles. Again, the local store management allows all of this nonsense because they want the revenue. read more

Not our location but big office needs to hear. Why place a pickup order at 7 am to pickup between 12-1 pm and at 12:30 the order still hasn't been shopped yet. If no one is available to shop for the customer at earlier times, then don't list those. It's not rocket science. read more

I live across the street, so I come here out of convenience. Never heard of a Meijers (new to the area), so this was my first impression. They have a decent selection of products. My 5 star pertains more to pharmacy. Kayden helped me save $30 off my Rx when he realized it wasn't associated with any insurance and inquired about it; it was for my dog, so he did some magic that shaved off a good chunk of my bill. read more

I'm very impressed with how well this location handled move-in day at the nearby GVSU campus! There were signs outside the entrances welcoming back all the students (I bet they get a lot of business from us, but really, it's nice to see the extra effort.) This was second busiest I've ever seen a Meijer and the staff was handling it well. Checkout lanes were moving at a decent pace considering the general amount of items each customer was buying. As someone who previously worked at the Airport Road location in Jackson, I know how hard it is to find good employees. Especially with COVID-19 and the unemployment checks. I frequent this branch when visiting my daughter. Usually the cashiers and staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately not today at 1:00pm in the next aisle to the right of checkout 16. The cashiers and baggers were all very young college aged girls discussing their classes and majors, friends majors etc instead of addressing their customers. The young girl in the next aisle reacted like I was a criminal for taking one of the wands/sticks to place between orders on the conveyor belt. She definitely needs to consider other career options rather than customer service if this is the range of her over dramatic reaction to a plastic stick or wand. I shop at multiple Meijer locations in West Branch, Mount Pleasant and this location. I have to say this is not typical behavior, usually employees are helpful, courteous and polite. Perhaps this young lady needs more customer service training? And they all really need to pay attention to the task at hand and do their gossiping in the break room or outside work. I believe that this multi-dimensional store lacks a few things. 1. I truly believe that the prices are a bit higher than that of other Meijer locations. As a student I always try and keep a grocery bill low, but it seems hard here. My alternate is family fare but that is also higher priced. 2. It seems like the stock of certain products is lackluster and I wish this were not the case. I often find myself with a shopping list and leaving with alternates or a few items short of completion of that list. 3. I think that the organization of the store could be improved a bit as well. On a positive note: 1. The greeters are always happy to see everyone walk through the door and always make me smile. 2. This was the place to shop at back in the day. Times have changed... The store is unorganized, lack of employees and engagement with customers. I've had multiple issues trying to find ANYONE who can help me grab fish from the tank. One time the guy was like run in the back of the store and go ask someone. I used to really love this Meijer, heck I was here when they first built this one, however after years and years of sale items bringing me in only to find absolutely nothing on my list is available in store, I simply cannot recommend coming to this location anymore, I would honestly rather go to the alpine location most days and they have a whole different bad RAP. The shelves are always empty of the sale items and my budget is always broken shopping here as I always have to buy the more expensive name brand items. The only time you can actually get some help from someone is 6 am and that is it. I actually picked up one of their phones to get a service person to give me a hand and waited 10 minutes for someone to show up and then left, I never did see anyone come up to the area. And by the way even the normal shelved items, they are all so misplaced and un-neat looking, and they put pallets in the middle of the isles to try to get you to buy the non sale items. And one more thing, college kids come in packs! They don't give 2 trucks about you either, one of them ran into the side of my wife with a shopping cart like a savage and barely apologized. College kids reading this, could you guys try to walk in a single line fashion through the aisles? Instead of walking side by side all the fern time. Thanks. read more

You know what they say... Meijer, for one stop shopping. I can't deny that, it's true. Although while it may be true there are certainly things that the Standale Meijer could improve upon. Chances are, if you're going to this Meijer later in the week, the shelves will be bare of most sale items. Now I understand that this Meijer is relatively close to a university campus but it has been for years and you would think that whoever is in charge of ordering would have the hang of this by now. And that brings me to a whole other issue- Sunday nights. Stay far, far away from this store during the college school year. The young adults while respectful, appear to come in packs, and you can pretty much forget about returning cans or bottles at that time. And again you will find the shelves bare of sale items! On the positive side, for as much action as this store sees, it usually looks quite clean (except for the bathrooms and bottle return area). Hint, there are additional bathrooms located at the back of the store that see little action. On this particular evening that we visited the checkouts were a nightmare! Self scanners were backed up about 15 deep and what do you know- they had only 4 cashier lanes open. They did finally open 2 more after the lines were backed into the clothing section. Again, I LOVE Meijer. Moving out to the Suburbs about two years ago in MI, I was very excited to be able to shop at the "higher end" Meijer. Growing up, we always went to the one located on 54th street (I believe that was the right street) and it was the first ones in the area that basically "housed" a community of people. Of course, like any other place, the more people come there and use there services, the more worn down it will become over time. IT's been a good decade before we moved and were able to experience this one in Grandville. Grandville is known to be of the "higher end" of living since it was more in the suburbs. This one Meijer has that "new" look to it as if you can still smell fresh paint on the walls. I truly loved this Meijer because it was located right NEXT to the GRANDVILLE MALL! What gal doesn't like that? I was always happy to get a call from my mom to ask me to stop by Meijer after the mall to pick up something. (i'm weird) but this made my trips more "reasonable". I would hate to just "run to the store for mom" as it would be out of my way most of the time. When I would come here, it was always a "quick" pit stop to the mall for something. The one thing that I didn't like was the fact that you would be stuck in the mall traffic. Yes, I've been put in both places so I can't be too mad. We moved to Walker so this location became our default unless we are else where where Meijer is available. Few things I noticed after first few visits is that their restocking sucks royally. Sometimes they might be out of item for weeks! Always irritating if you have a dinner list and cannot find key ingredient. Beer variety is tailored to students or those who have very little money (or simply prefer the cheapest resemblance of a beverage). Never a good stock on imports. NEVER! And lastly, I'd like to dedicate this last word to Produce manager. Do you know that asparagus must be kept in water? Probably not, as the only thing I always find when I want asparagus is a bunch of dehydrated plants that hard to look at, let alone eat. read more

I go to this meijer all the time because it is the closest one to my college campus. I have come here to buy alcohol on other occasions without there ever being any issue. Today I went & when using the self-checkout my ID wasn't scanning into the system. After going to costumer service they referred me to who I assume was a manager. He took my ID & gave it back & said if it doesn't scan we can't help you. I kept asking why it wouldn't scan because it isn't expired, suspended, or a fake. He just said we can't serve you, sorry. I called back later to see if there was anything I could do to fix the problem. I got sent back to the same guy I talked to at the store earlier who I was told was the store director (found out later by talking to someone at corporate that all of the store directors were not at the stores that day). Anyway, over the phone he began to accuse me of having a fake ID, he told me that the only way an ID can be declined at the register is if it is either fake or expired (again, it is neither). He told me that I look nothing like my picture & that the orientation is incorrect for my license (I turned 21 two months ago & haven't renewed my drivers license to the horizontal one you receive after turning 21. I still have one month until it expires). I can understand why he may suspect this because it is an out-of-state license, the photo is from when I got the ID at 16, & I had only just turned 21 a couple months ago. However, it is unacceptable of him to continue to accuse me of having a fake ID without ever questioning whether there is just an actual issue with the system. I continuously told him that I wouldn't go through the effort of fighting this if my ID weren't real & he just continued to tell me that he couldn't help me. I then called corporate who was helpful in connecting me to the real store director, I hope to hear from them soon to get the problem resolved. But I can't get over the fact that I'm being refused serviaccused of something without any real evidence behind it. read more

Always packed with college students during the semesters. Meijer prices are always much more reasonable than Family Fare, thus the hoards of people that show up at this Meijer on a daily basis. This Meijer is the closest grocery store that isn't Family Fare in correlation with the Grand Valley State University Campus in Allendale. Overall, a decent place to shop all around. Kind of a small building, but that doesn't really matter. You went there to do one thing, get groceries. Side Note: The parking lot is very icy in the winter season. Watch it! read more

I really like shopping at Meijer. This store is fairly new, bright, and clean. Prices are usually better than Family Fare. The big seller for me at Meijer is that they recently came out with "Meijer Organics". They have a whole line of reasonably priced organic foods ranging from pasta to ice cream to bread to frozen fruits and vegetables. I really appreciate this, because since learning about GMO's and the chemicals that get into conventional foods, I like to eat organic when I can. Meijer makes this affordable for me. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with Meijer, especially this location. Great prices and sales, horribly staffed and operated. I highly recommend using the new Shop and Scan feature on the Meijer app to avoid the ridiculously long lines that you are bound to encounter while shopping here. Scan/bag your groceries as you shop and then breeze through checkout. Every time I come here, there's ALWAYS something on my list that I cannot get because it's not stocked (despite the fact that there are stocking racks/carts blocking paths through aisles at all hours of the day). This company (or at least this location) does not value their employees and it shows through the lack of enthusiasm/helpfulness of the employees. My sister works here and I could tell you horror stories about the lack of professionalism the management displays, including not calling an employee's emergency contact when a medical emergency arises. I think if management/corporate showed more compassion towards their employees, the service you receive would be much different. read more

I was in this location recently to visit family and friends. I went inside to look for a couple snacks and the staff was very friendly. Because of some disabilities i was unable to reach things and a very friendly associate came to my rescue. He introduced himself and asked if i needed help. He reached the item and even offered to help me as i finish my shopping, as i was on my way out i did not need it but was very thrilled to see truly good people are still around. I recommend if your ever in this location ask for Darin Johnson hes one of the most helpful and respectful people i ever met. read more

315 Wilson Ave NW, Standale, MI there is NO mask enforcement at this location. When I spoke to employee Judy B. about multiple customers with no masks, she spoke of HIPPA laws that prohibit the enforcement. I asked an employee if I could speak to a manager about a particular customer with no mask, who stood leaning against a post in the store. When I asked this customer if I could get past her to get to the aisle she was in and maintain a 6 foot distance, she refused to move and was looking at her phone as she said "I'm not sick. You are fine to go around me." While waiting for the manager, the customer and I stood in a stand off. They then walked directly past me, coughed on me and said "there, now you have it". This store will no longer be getting my money. I challenge Meijer Corp to take this virus seriously by educating employees about the laws surrounding this pandemic as it pertains to mask wearing. This Meijer is a nightmare most of the time. It's full of college kids because of the campus being so close and they usually don't know what they're doing or don't care about anyone else and block aisles, etc. Sunday's are the worst at this store because not only are their college kids, but also tons of children running around. The store is stocked apparently Sunday night or when everyone is there. They block the aisles and 9/10 you wont get what you need because there will be nothing in stock. Worst shopping expierience ever! I went at 7:30 a.m. on a Sunday. The restrooms were very dirty! I decided not to even use them, didn't want to touch anything. I wanted deli sandwich meat, which I was told by the worker to come back in 15 minutes because they weren't open yet. Although there were three staff members standing around! I did not wait, as I was going to have to go to family fare anyway to get the 10 items on my list they were out of! Next time I will just go to family fare! read more
