Not totally sure where the lack of love is coming for this place. It was an interesting mix between Fred Meyer and Walmart... I'm from the West Coast, so we have Fred Meyer out there! Very much a one stop shop. Lots of good looking food items as well as just about anything else you'd want, including a TV, baseball cards, Halloween decorations or a grill! I didn't explore the entire place, but the only thing that it seemed to lack versus a Fred Meyer was a furniture section. To be fair though, it's rare that I need a lounge chair and pico de gallo in the same trip. The prices were fair and the people were nice. Worth the stop in! read more

I was at Meijer last night with my 2 grandchildren and at checkout I realized my Meijer card was at home. I had cash and other cards and live about a mile away from the store. I was so upset with myself. Your AWESOME and MAGICAL night shift swooped in and saved the day! I had a nightmare of a time with local Kroger in Avon, IN trying to order an Edible Image cake for my son's graduation party. This was my first time shopping at this meijer. We normally shop the one in Camby, but since we had our grocery list with us on our way home from running other errands, we passed this meijer and decided to stop in since we were already here. Plenty of parking, so we grabbed a space fairly close to one of the entrances and appreciated that the rows for parking had letters to help us remember which row we had chosen. One thing that is weird is that meijer stores are not set up identically, so from my perspective, we had to figure out where everything was. We would have probably shopped faster driving on to our local store and just picking up what we needed. I'm a bit of a speed shopper because I know my own store layout so well. Trying a new one is always a bit frustrating. I wonder why they don't lay out the stores which are usually built from the ground up the same? Not that this store is to blame, it is more of a complaint about meijer in general. The store is huge and they do have a lot of items to choose from. I also like that there seemed to generally be wide enough aisles for people to pass with carts. There were shortages on some holiday items and paper products probably due to the hoarding mentality that has taken hold of our nation. You can't even mention snowfall without stores noticeably being depleted. I was looking for a canned good for Thanksgiving and the store had it set up on the bottom row. Unfortunately, the rows are deep and from a standing postition, it was hard to read the label for the items which were shoved so deeply into the row that the labels on the cans were not readable. I literally had to get down on my knees to read the small print and then look through the row to see the canned goods lined up single file at the back of the shelf. Good thing I am still flexible and have long arms. I don't know how many people would go to my effort to get what they needed. So, someone on the staff should be bringing the items forward for the customers, especially in the areas where obvious attrition was occurring. Maybe they could check in the back to see if there were any more inventory in stock to help shoppers. I can't have been the only shopper frustrated that it was difficult to find common items in the store. I also noticed that the shelves seemed high and that made it difficult to read some of the aisle signs. My wife was looking to find the pharmacy and it took awhile to spot it. She didn't say whether she found the item she was looking for or not. I understand these aren't ideal times for first visits to stores, so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt with a 4 star rating. But customers will only put up with shelves that aren't maintained for so long, especially if they can find a better shopping experience elsewhere. We ended up using the self check out counters since the regular customer lines were all backed up. Fortunately, I've grown pretty good at scanning over my lifetime of grocery shopping. I prefer using the limitless lanes because they have more room than the limited number of item check outs. I came after work around 4:30 pm, big mistake the lines were so long. I used the self check out no item limit line and the register ran out of receipt paper with my order. There was only one person working this area and took awhile for him to get to me. I keep coming back because they have great sales. There was a 10 items fo $10 sale get the 11 free going on. They also have great produce and sale seafood with a seafood department unlike Walmart or Target. Always being open is another plus guess I need to pick an off time to shop to have a better experience when grabbing a few things. read more

This Meijer is literally the only place that I go to get groceries. It is the cleanest and newest Meijer around; I actually get grumpy if I am in a different location and have to go to another Meijer because they are never as good as this one! The prices are lower than any other store around, especially during the 10 for 10 sale (buy 10 $1 items, get the 11th for free). It especially is helpful if you download the mperks app, which is their rewards system. For a certain amount of $$ you spend, you get coupons for future purchases. Bonus cash if you refill your prescriptions at the pharmacy, which I also take advantage of! The only suggestion I have for this store is more cashiers working. I generally avoid going here on Saturdays or Sundays because it is so busy, it takes literally a half hour to cash out. I went last weekend, and all of the self service checkout lines were open, but only 2 "real employees" were cashing people out. This is especially inconvenient for people with more than 12 items, because 10 out of the 15 self checkout lanes are only for people with 12 items or less. So imagine a packed store with really only 7 lines to check out, with 5 of them being self service. Takes foreverrrrrr. Other than that, love this store! read more

If you're driving to the Avon store, and frustrated, come to the Plainfield store. Avon is much busier, often out of products, and the lines are long. I usually leave frustrated. The Plainfield store is clean and well organized within the departments you know. The produce section is fresh and amazing. The employee's are usually close by and willing to help when you have questions. They even walked me to the item I needed. Once you're familiar with the store layout you'll be in and out quickly. I have to admit I was frustrated searching when I first was here but now it's much easier. The employees are friendly, open to helping customers and the store has the products you're usually looking for. read more

I love the Plainfield Meijer. I can find everything there. Food, clothes, shoes, pharmacy, house and hardware. Their prices are better than Walmart and a much more comfortable place to shop. The staff is very friendly. Plus they send you coupons in the mail for the items you routinely purchase. Get the Meijer App and use it every time you shop. They take off $7 dollars on every $100 you spend. No other big store does that! Highly recommended as your go to store! read more

We are very close to the Meijer in Avon, but prefer this one since cleaner, not as busy,and usually better cashier interaction, which if store is stocked like it usually is is the important part. We like to use recycle bags that we bring since we like how they carry more and are good for the environment. My absolute favorite grocery store in the world. I'm usually in this store twice a week to get things for my family. The store is clean, well organized, and the staff is amazing. I always feel welcomed as soon as I walk in. There is always many employees working so it's rare that I ever have to wait in line to check out. Meijer is awesome, and this somewhat new location in Plainfield is a nice addition to the area. It has a Meijer gas station out front with sometimes lower gas prices, and a Great Clips inside. Equipped with all the departments in typical Meijers, friendly staff, clean, and a good amount of self-check outs, this is my go-to grocery store. I like the fresh produce section- I never have a problem finding what I want, good savings, and fresh looking food. I am giving this location five stars for the grocery section and its customer service. The produce department is amazing, yet it can be overwhelming. There is always someone nearby to help out. I have also asked for help in the bakery and the meat department, and they both have very courteous employees, too. They treat their customers well! I like being able to drop my husband off to get a haircut while I start on the shopping, too. read more

Having been a meijer shopper for many years, this was my first trip to this new location and I was disappointed and frustrated. The store is not visually appealing at all, they do not restock well on weekends, the staff is not helpful. Most concerning is the height at which basic items are kept and a mother 5ft tall. This will be my only visit to this meijer. We abandoned shopping less than half way through and finished at a different retailer who was fully stocked and always checking on customers. I recommend picking the Meijer in Avon over this location. read more

Store is okay, but not as much of a selection as other Meijer's. Also, do not under any circumstances order a cake from the bakery. They will scratch down your instructions on a scrap piece of paper, then when you go to pick up the cake it will look nothing like the example or the display. When you complain, they will point to the chicken scratches and say, "That's what it says on the order". We ordered a cake exactly like an example in the book. "What color do you want the writing?" Yellow, we say. We get the cake, nothing like the book, the sides of the cake are yellow. Nothing like the picture. "Well that's what it says on the order".
