We needed an 85th Birthday cake at the last minute. I went to one grocery store; however, the writing wasn't clear and instead of having a typical rounded tube /spaghetti shape to the icing, it was flat and looked like the tip was too close to the top of cake. I asked for it to be redone and the second attempt was worse. I decided not to buy it because I didn't want the recipient to think we didn't take time to get a nice cake. I then decided to go to Meijer to see if we would have better results. I cannot emphasize enough how it was so much better than the other store. The writing was clear and decorative versus just a basic printed font from the other store. I was so relieved that the cake was beautifully done. The cake itself was delicious and very moist according to everyone who enjoyed a piece. The frosting was very good and didn't have an oily texture as a buttercream frosting. It's a standard Meijer located in a strip mall. There is no gas station. The food selections are standard Meijer as are the home goods and clothing. Each time I have been in there there has been a scammer approaching women in the store asking for money. The last time I reported the man to store employee who just shrugged. Worst Meijer ever. They wouldn't honor one of my Mperks coupons and kept telling me that the Mperks App coupons don't apply to in store use, which isn't true. The fine print on the coupon says nothing of the sort. I've been a Meijer customer for over 15 years and have never been treated so poorly. Instead of manually applying the coupon, they told me to go outside and place the order online if I wanted the savings. I won't be back to this location. We stopped here two days in a row. And this was only because the directions kept bringing us here after we tried to find another one. Guess we needed to ride out of town for a better experience. The bakery at Southfield Meijer is phenomenol. I highly recommend them. The decorator made a custom design for my Granddaughter's 5th birthday cake. I wanted Bluey on the Beach and she delivered! Our whole family was impressed. The kids all wanted to try the special icing that looked like ocean water. The attention to detail rivaled any fancy bakery. And the chocolate cake and buttercream icing was top notch. The decorator was helpful and skilled with all concepts of cake decorating. I will go there for all future cakes. This is not my regular Meijer location but I was heading home along Telegraph Road and needed a few grocery items. So I decided to stop here to save me a separate trip on another day. It was late, around 10pm, but the shared parking lot was rather full and I circled until I spotted someone backing out and I claimed the spot! Once I got inside it seemed moderately busy with shoppers. There was also a lot of restocking happening making it tight to get through some aisles. Mostly I was there to pick up some produce and was able to find what I wanted. I hadn't seen the current ads so I was pleasantly surprised when I found Grapefruit 5 lb bags on sale as BOGOF! I also picked up some vitamin supplements on sale as well. I stopped to take care of something at the Customer Service desk and the staff were friendly and helpful. I'd probably rate about 3.5 but I normally round up. read more

This place is hit or miss when it comes to inventory. There are plenty of times that they are out of stock of everything. Then there are times when they are fully stocked... Luckily today was the latter. The only drawback of coming here is that they are always short staffed and extremely busy! Sometimes it's hard to navigate through the store because it's so packed with customers. I normally park on the north end of the store because it's usually less crowded and easier to find parking spots. It really sucks that this store is not 24hrs since the covid pandemic started... because I used to do my shopping at 3am when it's less crowded and fully stocked. I like most of the hot food they sell, especially the sushi and chicken. The bathrooms are clean and the pharmacy techs are very nice. I used the self checkout line. while I was waiting there are some coolers near the check out. These coolers are FILTHY! I would think you would clean out the cooler before you reload it. Meijer is basically an upscale version of Super Walmart in the Midwest. They have everything that you could possibly want or need including a pharmacy, bakery, lawn and garden care items, and some car items. In addition, they sell clothing, small furniture, and food. This Meijer is very large and is located on Telegraph and 12 Mile in Southfield as part of a plaza that includes, Michael's, DSW, Best Buy, and several other stores and food stops. Meijer sells NCAA, NFL, NHL, and NBA licensed clothing, which is what I usually go there for. They have lots of sales, so it is a place that you will probably end up spending more than what you intended to. They just launched a home delivery program, but I think there is a membership required. It has crowds usually so if you want to get in and out, don't go on a weekend or during rush hour. read more

But they have groceries and clothing (mens, womens, kids, toddlers), electronics, sporting goods (a well stocked cabinet of ammunition) and toys. I think the store is in he midst of a remodel. Several shelving areas were completely empty right next to others that are fully stocked. Unusual. Food section included produce that looked a little minimal but the rest of the groceries were neatly shelved and clearly priced. Prices seemed to be in line with my expectations, i.e., a little higher than Walmart. Lots and lots of registers open. read more

If you call they will speak over you and before you have a chance to respond they will have transferred you to a part of the store that no one is in. This Meijer is by far the worst Meijer I have ever been to. It is the closest Meijer to my home and is across the street from my gym so I have shopped here many times due to convenience. However, I have had enough with this store. Not one time have I been to this Meijer and not had to search the parking lot for a cart, the employees at this location are rude, they are always low or completely out of fresh produce, their salad isle is never stocked and the meat department has not had any brand of ground turkey the last 4 times I have shopped here. I usually shop here after 8pm and don't think I have ever seen an actual person running a check out line, there seems to only ever be U-scan lines open. This has got to be the crappiest Meijer around!!! My second trip to this store and I know I will never come back. As I was standing in an aisle, this guy came up to me twice (within a five-minute period) and asked me if I could give him a dollar. The second time he came up to me I yelled "no" at him. No man, I can't give you a dollar...I'm in the grocery store trying to shop - not out walking down the street in some high traffic area - get out of my face!!! If you enjoy shopping where the clientele walk with no purpose then come here. My life is busy, fast-paced, and I'm usually in and out of wherever I go to shop. I don't have time for people who are so rude they casually stroll across the parking lot or down the middle of the aisles and have no regard for other people. Common courtesy is to walk on one side of the aisle or parking lot aisle, or to cross the parking lot aisles/walkway with a sense of purpose so you're not in the way. That mentality is completely absent here! The only perks of my visit? They had what I wanted and the Meijer employee standing at the entrance was pleasant and greeted me. They were perfect, very friendly, quick, and accurate--a job very well done! They even found perfect substitutions for a couple items that were sold out. People smiling, telling jokes, and randomly telling us special as i roam through the store. Several common fruits in stock were all ready for compost. 2/3 of 30+ normal check out lines on July 4 unattended, with lines of people to self-check backed up as machines continually had problems... and I mean every one. I remember when this Meijer was built. I don't think it was that long ago, and it's not a half bad place. It's not my usual one, but I stop in here on the way to work when I need something for work. I never usually have a problem here, but it's right off Telegraph. If you try to leave during rush hour, it's tough to get out onto Telegraph. The staff here is decent, and I never have a problem finding anything. I've had a few weird interactions here in my day, which isn't really Meijer's fault. I've gotten approached by Jehovah's witnesses handing out paperwork, and random other interactions like that. The deli here is okay, usually staffed when I'm there. Not the greatest selection of deli salads or anything, but enough that I take a look. The place is busy, and you get a nice mix of people when your here. Not my preffered shopping place, but it'll do. I feel like Meijer's has been off it's game recently, and I'm not as impressed as I used to be with all of their locations.
