Had the worst checkout lady at St. Charles today. Her name was Beth M., older lady. Completely disrespectful and broke one of my water bottle packs and didn't even care to bag it when it broke. Kept interrupting me when i was talking. Did not bag half of the items i had so I grabbed extra bags because I needed them bagged. Heard many others complain about her before. I said thank you as she handed me my receipt and she didn't even look back or anything. Sure, they have good prices, and a good selection. But that's not why I gave them this high ranking. My mother and father are both 91 years old. Dad only stopped driving a couple months ago. I have since started to bring them here every Saturday morning for them to do their shopping. I watch things. I watch how all the employees go out of their way to be nice for mom and dad. I watch how they are careful to not make mom and dad's shopping bags too heavy. I watch them place groceries in the cart for mom and dad, so they don't have to carry them. I watch how patient they are, when mom or dad get confused at the checkout lane. Very nice people work here, and that makes all the difference in the world to me, mom and dad, and I'm sure many other people that they help. Thank you Meijer! read more

While on my last visit I don't think I saw one friendly worker other than the greeter. While there there was a sale on wipes, buy one get one free. At check out the discount wasn't applied so I figured I'd go over to customer service and they would sort it out. A man walked up and called me over to the desk (Jeffrey was on the receipt). I explained to him they were buy one get one FREE. He heard buy one get one 50% off and proceeded to hand me the difference. I said "and that's for buy one get one free right?" He looked at me and angrily threw the money down on the counter, started muttering under his breath and banging in the cash register. He then took the money for the free box of diapers that I was charged and threw that money down on the counter as well, told me to take the change from that, and stormed off. I was in absolute shock at what had just happened. There was another worker there and I informed him what had happened and he apologized and thanked me for being honest. Any other person would have taken the $20 that he had just thrown at me. As I was walking out of the store the man was standing outside the entrance smoking a cigarette. I made sure to call and speak to a supervisor, turns out it was the man I had informed already, and he informed me that he had spoken to the worker and and would be in touch with his supervisor. While I will continue to shop at Meijer I will never go there alone again and will never return to this location!! I understand if your having a bad day, but when you work in customer service you don't really have a choice. This experience saddened me.. read more

The outside of this place looks a little like what Adventureland looked like a couple decades ago (inside joke for you fellow suburban Chicagoans), but inside it's almost a dead ringer for the other meg-super-ultra-big box store. like Target and Wal-Mart. What sets this one apart is the quality of the grocery. Now, I'm not saying this is Fox & Obel or anything, but this is a pretty good meat counter, with good prices. The bakery is big, and the fruit/vegetable area is very good. All in all, this is like a Jewel on steroids. Watch the newspaper for their specials, too. Sometimes they literally give stuff away to get you in the door. If you're a discriminating shopper, like my better half, you can find both quality and bargains here. This store is just OK. The good: 1. The prices are competitive. 2. It is close to home. 3. The produce is usually decent. The bad: 1. The parking lot is always packed. 2. The layout of the store is kind of wacky, for example if you need food and shampoo you have to walk to the other side of the huge store to get personal items. 3. It seems like they are always stocking shelves at busy times, which makes it really hard to get through the isles. 4. I'm not sure if its just me, but I seem to always have to wait a very long time to check out. Bottom line is with all the headaches I have to go through, my stress level is usually pretty high by the time I leave this store. I'm not so sure the self-serve checkouts are such a great concept. I saw a couple steal about 350.00 dollars worth of assorted items at the self serve line. They just casually bagged up their stuff, then bolted out the door. The young girls that oversee the check stands were oblivious to the whole thing. I called their attention to it, but they just shrugged it off, to say they would call security. The unfortunate thing of this is, the shoplifters just drive up the prices for everyone. read more

Since I moved to Illinois almost 2 years ago I fell in love with Meijer. Meijer is like the Cadillac of Walmarts. I will admit that prior to discovering Meijer I was a total brand snob. I would only buy brand meat, snacks, etc, NOW I buy my produce from a fresh produce stand, my miscellaneous items from Aldi and I go to Meijer for items I cannot get at Aldi such as cage free eggs, fresh filled pasta, deli cheeses, etc. I love Meijer, but I have to give them 3 stars for a few reasons. 1. Price - I think their prices are high. Since I've been shopping at Aldi I've learned that Meijer's sale prices are just last weeks gouged prices minus thirty cents. I don't think Meijer is trying to save anyone money. I think they are just trying to show that they carry everything you need under one roof and there is no need to make multiple stops. Fine - if I didn't have the time to shop around I would go to Meijer for everything. But I make time and make sure I spend my hard earned dollars wisely. 2. Furniture - I fell in love with a table at Meijer. I contemplated buying it for months, finally it dropped in price so I knew I had to buy it. I could not find the table in the box in the furniture section. So I called their customer service from my cell phone and told them I was needed assistance. I was told that someone would meet me. No one ever showed up. I had to walk up to customer service and make them have someone follow me. Then a few weeks later the chairs I wanted were on sale... however they only had 2 in the store, I had to order the other 2 online and pick them up. Which is fine, but the 2 I bought at the store were also in the back and I had to fight just to get someone to get them for me. 3. The lines on the weekends. When I go to any retail store on a Saturday or Sunday I always expect to wait in line, I come prepared. But there are so many check out lanes that are empty with no cashier. Please hire or schedule more people for the weekend! It will make people happy when they leave Meijer! Other than this I will still shop at Meijer. My favorite food item are the Meijer brand garlic and herb pita chips. They are amazing and fairly priced. read more

This litlte superstore has it's ups and downs. It has almost everything you could want out of a superstore, but the lack of service is what hurts this place. We can start off in the food section. They have a fully stocked grocery store: bakery, deli, seafod, etc etc etc. They even have a Starbucks. Some of the produce you can find in bad shape, but I guess you could find that in any grocery. The retail section has a lot of everything and you will find mainly the things you could need. It is not a specialty store so you won't find something that is very particular, but if you ask you might just find what you are looking for. To go on with the service, the employees are not that bad. It just seems the way the store is run that it is bad. Maybe because it is so big that you hardly see employees to ask for help, but rarely do you see employees through the aisles of the retail section. The grocer section, the employees could probably help you if you ask, but if not they wouldn't care. The check out section is horrible with 30 lanes and only 5-10 open at a time. With a large amount of folks shopping there it is hard to get out in a quick enough time if you have more than 10 items. They do have a self-check out with about 4-6 lanes, but you still have human error depending how well people know how to use them and whether not the employee managing them gets to you quickly enough with help. Store management changes frequently and complaints rarely get checked upon. It is not the dirtiest store, but not every part of a huge megastore like this can be looked upon all the time. The florescent lighting can get daunting and burn your eyes if you stay in there long enough. But the lay out of the store is not too bad. read more

This is the organic blueberries I purchased YESTERDAY brand "Central West" how RIDICULOUS!! I actually sat in lettuce section looking for some romaine lettuce and had a conversation with another customer of how gross all the lettuce looked. Where is this stores standards?? Seriously folks, if you're still reading this, Meijer is truly one-stop shopping. The only thing that comes close is a Super Target, but that doesn't quite meet the greatness of a Meijer. Meijer also sells clothes, hardware, toys, automotive supplies, hardware supplies, drugstore-type items, jewelry, housewares, dvds, cds, books, flowers, gardening supplies, and small animals. OK well pet fish. Oh yeah and a full bakery. And there is a Starbucks attached. Liquor department, full service deli (yum). And more that I can't even remember cuz I've been gone so long. Oh yeah a gas station too. (Used to be the cheapest gas around, not sure if that is still the case.) For those trying to get in, out and on your way, there are self-serve checkout lanes. Landed in this place on a random day, doing an event with a co-worker. The people here are really sweet. I HEART THEIR soft, chewy M&M COOKIES. ate my dozen in 2 days. place was huge and full of samples...it lured me in. The bakery is del-ish...and they have good stuff for the house.....I'd rather do all my shopping here...rather than doing one separate grocery stop and then a stop at Walmart or Target for non-grocery items. My day started as any ordinary day; however, something was missing, and I couldn't quite figure out what it was. After a long day of school, I decided to head to Meijer to purchase a refreshing Starbucks drink. Boom, it hit me! My missing piece was a nectarine! I looked all throughout the produce section to find the perfect nectarine. To my surprise, I could not find any. "Hmmm, maybe I'm looking in the wrong place," I thought to myself. I decided to ask an employee where I may find a nectarine (which is difficult for me because i'm a teenager with anxiety, like every other teenage girl). The employee looks at me in disgust and says, "they are out of season." "Totally understandable," I thought to myself since it was the middle of October. However, I began to look around the store at the surrounding produce. Strawberries, bananas, melons... these are all fruits that are "out of season". I was lied to that day. I have shopped regularly here in the last three years. My experience has been that service at the St. Charles location is consistently sub-standard, particularly with supervisors and management. This morning the service was particularly rude and disrespectful. I once called Meijer my go-to store, but this morning after giving my feedback to an unconcerned manager, I left the store and took my $300 down the street to Target and Walmart where I received friendly, courteous, and respectful service and had a great shopping experience! Meijer... Customers are what makes you successful and never forget that people have great choices for big-box stores. Meijer has excellent prices and has come really far in the organic health food this year. I have found the same dairy free gluten free foods that I paid much more at Whole Foods for here for much less! Which is a huge time saver since Whole Foods is thirty min away! The only thing holding me back from five stars is the store and restroom cleanliness...that department is lacking. I loved meijer until today. I went to their pet section to get some filters for my beta fish tank and they have a lot of beta fish for purchase in those little containers that every other store keeps theirs in. I've never seen any store have such disgusting conditions in those containers though. They were filthy, you could not even see some of the betas due to how much grime and crap was in the tiny container. it was so inhumane and so disappointing. read more

We have always been loyal Meijer customers, shopping at least 3 to 4 times a week. We live in Geneva 1 block from the store. lately your service has been horrible! Long lines, no lanes open, and always out of things. Seems like you are trying to push people into the self check out, which always has problems. Produce seems to run out of everything. We have choices, Woodmans is a bit further but service is EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!! Also Costco, and Sams members. Until things are resolved we are taking our business elsewhere. read more

I innocently went into meijer, expecting to buy my family a fish. When i got to the pet section i went straight to the fish and the sight still haunts me. All of the beta fish were dead! This is our main place we buy groceries. We've come here for over two years. We enjoy it because it is clean, close to home, and prices are low. We typically but Meijer brand items, they are as good as name brand and cheaper. The employees at the pharmacy have been quick and friendly. The deli always has an appropriate amount of staff during busy hours. Usually we spot at least 2 managers on the floor, in case you need them they wear blue shirts! Their electronic department has cheap photo printing and the equipment is new. They have 2 sets of bathrooms, deli area and bike area, both were clean when we used them. read more

Ok, when this location first opened it was great because it was open all night and if you needed something it was worth leaving the house at 2 am to get it. But now the place is...gross...I honestly wont buy anything from this store anymore due to the fact that going in there makes me cringe. I have bought cat food can packs only to open the packaging and find that is has maggots spewing from bent/broken cans (2 separate occasions) I have also seen maggots rolling off the shelves (seriously 2 other separate occasions) I even mentioned this to management and they didn't care or even apologize for the mess.The staff is rude and not helpful, they would rather stock the shelves listening to their iPods than give you the time of day. I'm pretty sure they need to either drink or shoot up to gather enough courage to go to work everyday. The aisles are cluttered with boxes and the shelves look like they haven't been faced in months. The only crappy thing about the situation is my bank is in the store and they have Sunday hours---this is the only reason for going in. The only plus to meijer is the gas station which offer pretty good prices on gas. read more

Meijer pharmacy St. Charles Illinois I recently changed to Meijer for several meds. They turned out to be more expensive, although they matched prices but took forever. Questions were not handled correctly the dirty blond haired woman was NOT knowledgeable, rude because she didn't know the answers. When I asked to speak to other pharmacist... She said she did not say what I repeated. Too much drama....not confident in letting them handle my prescriptions. Not very professional!!! read more

Pharmacy used to be great, but now the staff seems overworked and they outsource the filling of their prescriptions to an outside location in Indiana. Some medications aren't even stocked in-house anymore, so if you need it at the last minute are not able to get it from their pharmacy. After being a long-time customer, we have moved our prescriptions to a different pharmacy. One that stocks the meds we need and fills everything in-house. read more
