DEFIANTLY COVID NON-COMPLIANT and servicing rip-off. Despite Meineke's statement about being COVID compliant, this establishment is not. Perhaps they are now but they weren't yesterday 12/16/20. When booking I was quoted that an oil and filter change was $69.95, discounted $15 with the coupon I had. At the appointment, I first presented the coupon and mentioned the discount to the clerk, Rod, but he did not reach for the coupon or make any clarification that I needed to hand it to him in any particular way. He definitely heard me, so I took his response as meaning it was understood and that he knew what I expected of him. I was told to return in an hour. Upon my return, I handed Rod an unused paper mask and asked whether, as a personal favor to me during the transaction, he would wear it. Again refused to wear a mask and then went further mouthing off about Governor Mill's mask order, his "rights" not to wear a mask, and other unrelated political observations about COVID. This despite the rampant COVID outbreak in Kennebec County at the moment. As far as I could gather, Rod decided that despite his working before the public in a small office during the worst public health crisis in 100 years, his preference to not wear a mask outweighed those of the public and Meineke's customers in particular. I was appalled. When I presented my coupon, again asking about the $15 discount, Rod then stated that I was too late, alleging that I was, apparently, supposed to force it on him, not just show it to him and mention it. I reminded him that I had shown it to him and mentioned it but that he refused to take it. What a customer service champ. Examining the bill, amounting to an astounding $99.67, I found charges for labor, filter, oil disposal, and a charge for two additional quarts of oil for $13.98. Five quarts are included in the $69.95 quote. My car takes 6.3 quarts. Whatever. The subtotal was $95.44 + $4.23 tax = $99.67... plus a $3.93 fine print charge for using a credit card bringing the total to a whopping $103.60 for an oil change. Bait and switch, hidden charges, uncooperative staff, defiance of public health orders, overcharges, surly Rod, all needlessly complicating a simple oil change in Meineke's favor. To start, I want to say due to the many, many problems I had with the vehicle I bought at LinRic Auto Sales/Meineke, in Feb. 2019, I have reported this company to the Attorney General and completed a dispute with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Three months after I bought the car, major issues occurred. I brought it to Meineke to be fixed. It was not a good experience. The attitude of the man at the desk, I felt, was one of harsh carelessness. I became infuriated at one point, but this did not initiate the attitude of the man. He was as I've described, from the beginning. I had a 3rd party warranty which was offered when I bought the car. Dealing with the third party company and the man at the desk, I swore I would not do business with Meineke again. As the problems with the vehicle continued, I brought the vehicle to a trusted garage I have done business with in the past. One of these problems was the muffler, which I was told would not/should not have passed inspection. But Meineke had put a sticker on it with the muffler issue. How ironic is that? I won't go into everything that was wrong with the vehicle. My perception has been, throughout this ordeal, that I should have trusted my gut, which 'warned' me not to buy there. Also, I believe, as I stated in the BBB complaint, they sell cars here that need work, hoping for repeat business. I have traded the vehicle for a new vehicle. I did not feel safe in that vehicle. It never crossed my mind to complain to this company. I can only imagine how I may have been treated then. I had been treated badly enough already. I wont say its because I'm a woman. Somehow I dont think it matters here. I want to say, all this occured in only 9 months. I bought the car Feb,19, got rid of it Oct, 19. Their reply to my BBB complaint was quite eloquent. I have noticed the same in their reply to complaints on YELP. It was stated, (in BBB reply) I should have brought the vehicle back to them, they would have given me $5000.00 for it. I think I laughed out loud when I read that. I dont believe that for one moment. I am the loser in this deal. I wont fight. I did reject their reply. But nothing will be done. I'm leaving it up to karma, or to be more specific, my Higher Power. Dont buy a vehicle here. I've learned, through experience, the hard way. Be safe out there, people. And Peace. read more

Save your money and take all business far away from these people. I almost got screwed by Linric auto cocksuckers in Augusta, Maine on a gray 2008 Chevy Silverado for $12500 total. I noticed the inspection sticker was already passed until 2022 and had his name signed (Linwood Bibber) on it so I took it upon myself to do some investigating while I was out for a test ride. Good thing because it should have failed inspection due to rusting out in the rear frame rails. Both rear fenders were rusted out under the fender flares so bad that it was about to be revealed again on the outside. Lets not forget there was a loose inner tie rod, right mirror was cracked, tpms light was on, and upper rear shocks were very brittle and rusty. They tried to cover up the rust with a cheap black over spray but the rust was too much and even the overlay was peeling off showing the rust etc again. Oh but they said there was no known defects, haha. While I was out, Linwood called me asking where I was with the truck and I explained I was still out. It had been a half hr since I was gone. I told him I think I might not want the truck and he starts swearing at me and threatening me. I get back to the Linric/Meineke shitshow place to find that he parked another one of his trucks with a plow directly behind my vehicle and tells me to go try to call the cops and he'd say that its private property and that he lost the keys to it. Luckily he was stupid enough to leave me enough room to maneuver in a way he didn't expect. A BIG FUCK YOU LINWOOD and whoever else is associated with these cocksuckers. These people don't even deserve the one star I'm forced to have to put in order to post this. read more

NEVER go here. Went to get an estimate for replacing my front breaks. Put it on a lift to check them out, quotes me $600. Says I need to replace all my breaks. Way to high, just wanted the front breaks. So I want my car back but this guy says he can't give me my car back. I said I'll go somewhere cheaper. So he then tries to sell me a credit card to pay for it! lol He calls the cops on me. Finally they give me my car back but I had to tow it away. I couldn't drive my own car home. I drove it there and all over town. By the way 5 cops came it was around 830am and they were in on the scam to. Almost arresting me for disorderly conduct. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! First time using Meineke and this happens...Took my car in for tire rotation and alignment, my boyfriend was told by Rod, they couldn't complete the alignment because I needed a wheel bearing replaced. (They wanted over 600 to replace it.) he said no to that, because the price was ridiculous . Rod at Meineke then stated, as soon as it's changed bring the vehicle back and we will finish the alignment. The next day, While doing the work we noticed a set of lug nut covers missing. A couple days later we took the vehicle back so they could finish the alignment and we could ask about the covers, at that time Rod Stated, because they were busy, they would need to schedule us for the next morning and claimed to him that the lug covers were never there. My boyfriend came home and told me this, so I called to speak with the shop to question about the covers, was hung up on/disconnected by Rod, had to call back and my call was given Linwood the owner..who also claimed that the covers weren't there when they got it and I was basically out of luck. He said the mechanic had hand written it on ThEIR notes?! Because of his attitude about it,I abruptly ended the call. Linwood then called my boyfriend and stated they would no longer be working on the vehicle because we didn't trust them?! And it was just a courtesy anyway. So, as customer you aren't allowed to question things that are missing?!..And if you do, the job you paid for, that wasn't completed, won't be done and it suddenly becomes a courtesy and not a service you paid for. Now we have paid for a service and it wasn't completed AND I have to pay for new lug covers. If you want quality, honest work and a job done to completion, with nothing missing, go somewhere else. read more

I came the Augusta Meineke in hopes for a simple fix for my car. The people were pleasant, though it felt like a business front. After having my car on the lift for what seemed like 5 minutes, they pulled me out back to tell me that, because of a small oil leak, I could "walk into Wal-Mart one day and come out with firefighters fight a blaze coming from my car". This was a direct quote from Linwood, one of Augusta's "fine" Meineke employees. He continued to ramble about how my car was a rolling death trap, blah blah blah, fixing the issues would cost more than my car is worth, and basically that I was an idiot for even driving it on the road. I knew that there was no way the issues with my vehicle could be this severe. None of it even compares to any of the "symptoms" my vehicle was having. To shorten up a long story, I decided to get a second opinion and went to get advice of 2 other mechanics. Guess what....they BOTH gave me quotes of under $200 to completely repair my ENTIRE exhaust system as well as repair my small oil leak. There were also no other issues that would anyway make my vehicle unsafe to have on the road. Moral of this review: The "employees" (?) at Meineke Car Care Center on State St. On Augusta, Maine are sexist pigs. I guarantee if my boyfriend or another male, who would be more inclined to understand garage lingo, were present- my experience with this "business" (?) would be much more satisfying. If you are female, avoid this place. Your visit will get you nowhere. read more

Never go there !! I went there to get my front brakes fixed. After waiting for ever Rob (heavy set man with glasses that do not fit ), tells me it is going to be six hundred dollars. I asked him to break that down, He was very bothered. He told me that was for a complete over haul of front brakes. I asked him if I could have a few minutes to think about it,because I thought that was high. His reply was hurry up your holding up a lift. I said forget it. He mumbled something like how am I going to put these back. I got my car back, and instead of grinding noise The pedal went to the floor. They had drained the brake fluid. Pathetic Service, Charged me twice for same problem & I had to pay. I went to their shop with the Engine light ON of my Camry, they told me its due to some bad sensor 2 out of 4 are bad & 2 are good. Charged me 600$ for it, and within 2 hours the light came back on again, this time they told me the other 2 sensors also needs to be changed, & charged me 500$ again for it. How come all 4 of the sensors got bad at once. I Don't recommend anybody to use them. Stay away from them, Save your money. read more

Meineke replaced the right rear wheel bearing on my Mountaineer in October of 2014. In August the vehicle felt unsafe so I dropped it off at a garage near work to get checked. They told me the right rear wheel bearing was totally gone and I shouldn't drive it because the wheel could fall off. I checked the paperwork and saw it was the same one that had been replaced so I called Meineke to see if it was covered because obviously a wheel bearing should last for many years unless it was defective or installed improperly. They couldn't tell me anything until I had it hauled to their location. I moved it there and they told me the part would be covered, but not the labor. The brakes on that wheel had also been damaged by the loose wheel. Those had lifetime guaranteed brakes that had been done at Meineke. The bottom line is it cost me $350 to have something repaired that should have been covered by warranty. They aren't interested in doing what is right for the customer, only the minimum they have to do based on their warranty. read more
