Meineke Car Care is truly outstanding. I have always relied on them for oil changes, brakes, and routine maintenance. Every time I visit, they perform a thorough inspection and clearly explain what may need attention in the near future, including the remaining life on brakes, tires, and other components. I have complete trust in their team and have never felt pressured to purchase services I didn't need. Today, on my way to a meeting, my tire pressure light came on. Since I work in sales, I didn't want to risk stopping at a gas station just before an appointment. I was close to the west side Meineke, so I stopped in to see what it would cost to check my tire pressure. EJ was incredibly professional, friendly, and genuinely happy to help--which you don't find everywhere these days. The team checked all my tires at no charge, added air to the one that was slightly low, and sent me on my way. Exceptional customer service and a great company overall. I go to Meineke on Industrial Blvd and they never disappoint me. Their facility is gleaming clean, their manager at the desk is always friendly, and their mechanics do their job efficiently and in a timely manner. Last week I went for another oil change and they rotated two tires for me because of wear and I only had to pay for the filters and oil change. They also reset my dashboard for me so my car recognizes the oil got changed and it's back to 100% from around 40%. Additionally, Meineke owners and mechanics give their hearts and time to the community by supporting nonprofits and doing community expos. This winter season they have a tree up with tags for Home Instead clients so they can receive holiday gifts. I grabbed one. read more

Staff is nice at the front desk until it's time to diagnose the car and create a bill. The services beyond minor repairs are highly overpriced and a lot of people are taken advantage of. I brought my car in for a fix after having it diagnosed a couple months ago to change the blend Door actuator. After clearly explaining that I wanted the services finally Performed, I get sent a message to reperform a test on the HVAC system for over 120 dollars. which I declined, and they therefore decided not to touch the car at all. Worse, they never told me to come pick it up until I decided to call the next day just to find out they casually left the car exactly where I parked it at my arrival. read more

I had a very bad experience here. My car had been struggling to start and the check engine light had come on. I took it in and they changed the spark plugs, but the problem persisted and within an hour of picking up my car, the check engine light was back on. $500 down. I took it back in and explained the issues and later received a message that the "light was now off" and they changed out the serpentine belt. Another $150 down. But they had not done anything to actually address the reason I brought it in--they had just turned off the light. They were adamant that there was nothing wrong. When I came in, I specifically asked to speak to the technician and asked them what the code they got from the check engine light was and they said it read as an engine misfire. I specifically asked them what they had done to address the engine misfiring, and they said there was nothing wrong. So, they have a customer telling them that the engine was misfiring, they have a check engine code that said the engine had misfired, and yet their only response was to assert that there was nothing wrong. When I went to start it in their parking lot, it misfired, so I came back in to tell them and again, they just asserted there was nothing wrong. I ended up just leaving with the car, and within 15 minutes the check engine light was back on. The next week I took it to a dealership who immediately identified the problem as a warped gasket in the engine, meaning the car was kaput. So after $800, I'm left with a car that is essentially dead--something that they could have discovered from the start if they had simply listened to what their customer was saying and performed a proper diagnostic. But it has new spark plugs and a new drive belt.... The staff were otherwise friendly. I'm sure they make a great place to take your car for oil changes and minor repairs, but I would avoid them for anything more serious. read more

"0" stars given an estimate of around $600, which was $200 less than my dealership, I was called the day of service and was told it was 900 and the reasonings why dada dada dada! I decided they've got the truck I have no way to get down there I will pay the 80 some dollars extra and let them do it, I get my truck this morning the pedal goes nearly halfway to the floor and it stopped better when my brakes were grinding. I brought the truck back the man took it for a 15 minute drive, came back and said "you're gonna have to go with me because I don't see anything wrong" What's wrong is he thinks that's acceptable. He gets in the car and says hit the brakes hit the break, I hit the brakes and said this is not right, he said "do you have your foot on the gas to?" And which I kicked him out of my truck, I highly recommend that you fix your brakes yourself because Meineke will F up brakes that were already grinding. I am so mad and beyond pissed off at the lack of customer service or empathy in this company that I am today going to go after them on a social media shit storm. Know that your money in this town comes from the majority college kids who use this app and many others to decide whether you are a reputable company. Last service just shows how they are dishonest with overcharging (almost double for the parts. While rotors to be exact Carquest Platinum Painted Disc Rotor YH637418P (exactly stated on invoice for two was charge 379$ the actual part price in the same city in auto parts a physical store (not on line ) would cost 196$. When I question price they told me to leave immediately. Very rude (even if I asked on phone when given estimate if that rotor price is not high because in other place they estimated same service 200$ less just didn't have openings). I have been a loyal customer of the South Walnut Meineke since I purchased my used 1995 Ford Taurus station wagon from a neighboring car dealership, utilizing them for everything from oil changes to new transmissions. Beginning in December of 2013 and continuing through 2014 until the date of this complaint Sept. 18, I began taking my vehicle to Meineke on a regular basis to have a sputtering problem diagnosed. Each time, around a half a dozen times, I was told that they were unable to find an issue and that my vehicle was "something to be proud of." On Sept. 11, 2014, my vehicle shut off in the middle of the road near my apartment on my way to work. I had AAA tow my vehicle to the South Walnut Meineke because they assured me that they could look at the problem same day. Suddenly, my ignition coil was broken and my vehicle's computer was melted. A cursory Internet search for ignition coils show symptoms including failure to gain power upon acceleration and the sputtering that had become a core characteristic of my vehicle, yet no problem was found upon repeated "inspections" by Meineke including manager EJ Trumpold and employee Rich. On Sept. 16, 2014, I spoke with general manager Brian Dorsey about the issue and was assured despite my insistence that I did not wish to continue receiving service from the business, they would run additional tests and the issues would be taken care of at a discount. Upon picking up my 1995 Ford Taurus station wagon from Mr. Trumpold late on Sept. 18, 2014, I drove roughly one quarter of one mile before my car began to sputter as it always has. I called Mr. Trumpold on the phone and informed him that my car was still sputtering, to which he replied, "Well, yeah, we didn't fix the sputtering problem." I had paid the business $276 two minutes prior for work that I was lead to believe by Mr. Dorsey would solve my sputtering issue, and I was told openly by Mr. Trumpold that the problem was not fixed. From this point forward, I will never be returning to the South Walnut Meineke for any future car troubles, nor will I patronize any other Meineke franchise. I feel that I have been robbed by the South Walnut Meineke one too many times to let it slide anymore. read more

After receiving all the paperwork telling me how I needed to pay over a thousand dollars, I decided to go get a FREE diagnosis and estimate from another local business who then told me Meineke failed to mention my brakes were a few days away from grinding metal on metal. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP!! I have used Meineke a few times and have been overcharged by a large amount several times and had to take car back for the same repairs. Dec 2022, right before Christmas my car would not start. Meineke was the only place that could look at it and I had no option. I had plenty of power, was not the battery or alternator but needed a starter. They worked on it for three days and told me I needed a new motor for $10,000, had a major oil leak along with failed compression testing. I had just driven my vehicle two days prior with no oil leak and it was running fine. I do not have another vehicle And it is a 2010. I ended up having to buy another vehicle and I had the 2010 towed. To my surprise, the person that towed it had it running in 20 minutes with a relay switch and it was confirmed that it would need a starter. I then took it to a non partial ASE certified shop to have it evaluated and they agreed, along with two other mechanics that it most definitely did not need a new motor and there was NOT a major oil leak, only a small one that was already known. In addition, in order to do the compression test, they would have had to remove the cover to reach the back cylinders and it still had dust on it and had not been removed and the clips had not been opened. When I called to talk with them they were rude and accusatory and refused to let me speak with the owner. I made several calls to Chris who had told me I needed the motor as well as was hostile when I called back. I was then connected to EJ and they never would allow me to talk to the owner who I had spoken with the year prior. i am a single parent with a child with disabilities and I take care of my mom who is paralyzed as well as work. I had to rent a car for three weeks and they refuse to help cover the cost of that when all they had to do was tell me they could not fix my car and I could have found someone to fix it. i ended up paying $50 to have my car fixed and it's been driven to Tennessee and driven daily since I was told the motor was blown and needed replaced. I am an honest person who works hard and I was not treated with hoBeaty or respect and never allowed to speak with the owner who knew I needed to speak with him. I am extremely disappointed and I will not post what I was told by the independent mechanics that looked at my vehicle without knowing anything about who said it needed a motor. I should not have been treated disrespectfully, lied to and treated as though i had a lack of Intelligence. read more

This was the 2nd time I had a coupon from Meineke the manager EJ said he wouldn't accept because it was from "corporate" and not their store. 1st coupon had their address and was mailed TO ME second was online when I made the appointment for an oil change. Both times was called to say all was good but a filter/etc needed changed. Understandable about filter charge, but then "installation charge" of $13.99 is pretty shady. Also asked who I could call "at corporate" about the coupon. He said he didn't have his glasses on to point out, but number was on the back of the receipt "somewhere." read more

Don't bother coming here if you don't have an appointment. It took me 8 hours to get my oil changed. 8 HOURS! The man I spoke to (who I believe is the manager) is also incredibly rude and condescending if you don't have an appointment. Just imagine that you showed up to a busy, snooty French restaurant on a Friday night in shorts and without an appointment... that's about how your conversation with him will go, except instead of a nice restaurant, you'll just be in a Meineke across the parking lot from a strip club. You can choose between a 8 hour oil change that is ready an hour after you're told it will be or you can make an appointment in the middle of a work day four days from now. Also be prepared to return immediately upon getting their call or you won't be able to get your car back until the next day (an 8 hour oil change pretty much guarantees them rushing to do it at closing). They're also pretty pushy about recommending unnecessary repairs too, so be prepared to pay an extra few hundred dollars you don't need to spend or to hold your ground telling them you don't want all their extra repairs. read more

I had a flat tire that they patched up. However, when I got the car back it had all of these black stains in the driver seat. They told me that I had done it and that it was a stain from long ago but I checked the car before leaving it with them over the weekend and there weren't any stains like that. He also said those stains are old because how they looked. I placed my hand over the stains and my hand was black. Definitely the stains were recent or my clothes that day would have been black (which they weren't). They cleaned the stains as well as a coffee stain in the back seat. Mind you I never drink coffee in the back seat nor does anyone ride my car. Overall, it was okay. Definitely there were things I appreciated and things I didn't. Your experience may be good or may be like mine. Overall, they did try to fix things which is why I didn't give this a 1 star but a 3 star. Strengths + Questions over phone calls were well-answered. + Got tire patched and finished near the time they had mentioned. + Tried to go above and beyond in cleaning the stains (he was in sweat when he was done) Weaknesses - Black stains that definitely came from one of them - He told me he had an expert carpet cleaner to handle the stain (turns out it was him) - He told me I made the stain when there was definite evidence it wasn't me. - Had a coupon from Yelp but he said they don't accept it. He didn't even try to use it. He just said no. - He signed me up for their rewards program without my permission or even letting me know. read more

I needed a headlight replaced and selected Meineke from Yelp reviews. I stopped by this morning and was told they would fit me in and it would probably be $30-40. About 45 minutes later they handed me the keys and said they replaced the headlight for free, including the cost of the bulb. I know that is a relatively inexpensive part and the job was super easy but I was very impressed! They did not have to do that and I'm not a regular customer and I would have happily paid the cost. I will use them the next time I need service and don't feel I need to use the dealership. read more

This was an awful experience. When I first arrived not only was the staff unfriendly but they would not accept my coupon. The staff then proceeded to take 2 full hours to change my oil and did not/ were not giving me any reason as to why it was taking so long. Upon receiving my car I realized that my car was not in the same condition that I received it as my engine splash shield was not properly reinstalled on the car and I had to notify the staff of this issue. I will actually make an active choice to tell people not to use Meineke after this visit if they value having their car receive timely and high quality service for their car. read more

I have taken my car to the Bloomington Meineke located on South Walnut St. several times, and have worked with both EJ and Brian. On a couple of occasions, they fit me in for oil changes with no notice and I in less than 30-40 minutes. On other occasions, they fixed things on our family work van and my imported 2009 Infinity. Each of these times, the vehicles came back with final bills lower than what they had originally quoted. The service area is clean and well managed, the staff are polite and knowledgeable. On two occasions, I've attended a community workshop where the owner spoke to women attending the "What Women Auto Know" event, where he educated attendees about how to have a better conversation with an auto-mechanic. This is a really impressive local business and I would refer them to anyone for services. read more

They are always friendly and talk things through with me (I didn't feel like they were talking down to me because I'm a woman, which is always good), and they get the job done. The manager here is really helpful in explaining what's wrong with your car. I've had a great experience taking my honda here to be serviced. No other place will give you free lifetime rotations and wheel balancing when you have them put tires on your car even if you order your tires online like I did. It's kind of ghetto sitting next to a titty bar, but the service makes it worth it to come here. My exhaust pipe cracked and they welded a new piece on it without having to replace the entire pipe for $20. That alone saved me $100 considering most places want to replace the entire part and don't have welding equipment! read more
