I had a great experience here, which was especially nice after having a sub-par experience at another nearby shop (where I was immediately up-sold). I called Meineke and told Vinny that I needed a new tire (post flat) for a car we were likely to sell in 2 months, also, that we had one car and I was trying to figure out how to get the car in between kid/family errands etc. He heard me and responded so thoughtfully. He made clear and simple options and told me it would take 15 min to get my tire on (vs the other place where there was a min 2 hour wait) once in. He called me as soon as the tire was in, got it on fast and all at a reasonable price. It's simple, but working with someone who listens and gave me simple and clear solutions, and didn't sell me 100 extra things, was refreshing. read more

This is what i sent to Meineke after a horrible experience at Meineke Maplewood. Guy is a complete, probably racist and sexist asshole..... "I was happy to see you all were offering a $19.95 special for an oil change, tire pressure check and 23 point inspection. I made an appointment to get my car serviced using this coupon. When I arrived this morning, the mechanic on duty informed me he could not use my coupon bc he does not have the type of oil that the coupon is valid for. He also informed me that no other meineke has that oil either and he can only do a $34.99 oil change. I told him the website offers it, this is why im here today, expires in May, why cant this be honored for a customer if the shop has ran out of stock on the type of oil they are advertising? The mechanic didn't care gave me back my key and just shrugged his shoulders. Very rude and poor customer service. I plan to try another location to use my coupon. Also, in the past I've called this place to simply ask question and the mechanic is always rude and sarcastic. Never will I go back, today was the final straw. Hopefully another shop will provide me with better service." Also- he advised me it doesn't matter if I make an appointment because he will never check them. The most disgusting experience of thievery ever seen. The boys there thought because I'm female they would price gouge me and tell me because of the car I'm driving an oil change would be more than $100! Absurd! I left immediately and had my oil change done at another garage for $30, same car. I have never paid $100 or more for any oil change for any car and that is totally unacceptable and flat out swindling, also extremely sexist! I'm incredibly disgusted and hope this shop shuts down! They wouldn't even honour a coupon for oil change that this location sent me by email to use for this oil change. Never going back and ladies, stay away from these jokers. So here is my sad experience, I came there yesterday after scheduling an online appointment to change an oil only to hear from the guy( and he wasnt talking nicely) that they dont do that so late and he is 65 and don't care about online appointments. He pretty much blamed me that I showed up. But after hearing all of that he agreed to do that. He gave me the form to fill out and told me to stop showing him the face. I excused myself and told him that he started it all with yelling at me and showing me his attitude. He said that he didnt yell but raised his voice, claiming that he is Italian and he can raise his voice on me. Im not going to get into details since it nasty, he refused to provide service to me and told me to leave the place. Nice, isnt it? I left with tears and called customer service immediately. Not sure if they do anything since Im not the only one whom he disrespected and humiliated. If nothing will be done, my next stop is NJ State Consumer Protection Office. read more

Stay away! My batter died in November on a rainy day and someone at Meineke "care" center put me on hold to take the call in his "office". Was on hold for quite a while. When he finally answered, I let him know what happened to my car and asked what price range I could expect. Before I could even finish, he cut me off completely yelling at me letting me know that this is NOT the way to do business, because there are all types of batteries and he could not tell me an exact price. He began to yell even louder naming types of batteries as he interrupted me whenever I spoke. I'm not entirely knowledgeable with automobiles, but i DO know there are different types of batteries, sizes, installation charges, additional costs, etc... I never asked for a specific price only a price RANGE, but remained polite. I was beginning to ask him if they could take a look at my car before they closed, and before I even finished, he shouted over the phone, "I'm not trying to be rude but do you have a guy that I can speak with? Someone that knows about cars?" As soon as I heard that, I hung up immediately. The nerve! If asking for a price range wasn't how business was done, why was it so easily talked about at another car care center? RUDE!!!! If you want business, why treat your customers like crap?! You think you can gain the trust of customers this way? Especially women who often get taken advantage of at places like this for their lack of knowledge in this area. We want an honest and friendly experience. Not some sexist, arrogant staff dismissing every question we ask! If I could choose 0 stars, I would.... I will never go here. I just had a great experience with Maplewood Meineke, who needed to check a damaged tire quickly--on the afternoon before Thanksgiving, when getting service is not easy. Vinny, the owner, and his mechanic Rudy were fast, attentive, efficient, and had great advice. I'll definitely be back for my next oil change and other service, and I can recommend you do the same. STAY FAR FAR AWAY. I nrought my car here last year for a ventilation issue. The car was fixed but the issue resurfaced again recently. I brought the car back to see what could be done. Upon entering the center, i was greeted by the owner Vinnie. I explained to him that i had brought the car to him last year and the issue resurfaced. He immediately became defensive and stated that i hurt his feelings and that he was offended. He proceeded to tell me that he is burned out and has diabetes. I explained to him that neither of his issues were my problem. After taking down my car information, he abruptly refused to fix my car, telling me to go somewhere else. He then went on a rant about how he is not appreciated, how he is burned out and tired, how he is in his 60s and trying to put his daughter through private school etc. Vinnie is totally unprofessional and should not be allowed to run this place. He is rude, condescending and cannot seperate his personal life and feelings from his business. I told Vinnie after much shouting back and forth that he needs to either retire or have someone else run the business and that he should not be taking his personal issues out on customers. This is absolutely the worst place to take your car. Vinnie is a horrible owner and person. read more

This secondary feedback is being given since I received a call from a representative from this location yesterday. If he was the manager or owner, I don't know, nor do I care. He insisted on continually speaking and not listening. He also claimed that I gave him a bad review and proceeded to yell over the phone. I'm sure he read the previous review and it wasn't nasty, so hopefully (crossing my fingers) he reads this one. I simply said he, or his team, left my car dirty. The cost for the work was fair (after negotiation) and I had the brakes done so hopefully this location can handle such a job, but now that I have spoken to "The Manager" maybe I should get a second opinion. I now address this to "The Manager" or the person who called me, since I know you'll read this. The next time you call a customer or a client(or the people that maintain your salary and keep your location alive) take the time to listen. You should first apologize. Then offered me a solution. Saying simply, Mr. Hernandez, I apologize for your car having what you think may be grease on your inside door handle and driver seat. How may I resolve this? Are you available to come in sometime next week so I can address the issue and we can speak some more? Instead you yelled at me for not contacting you first with my issue. You then yelled at me nonstop saying I was bad mouthing your services. You never gave me a chance to speak AT ALL. Secondly, should not have defended yourself or your team saying they wore gloves. Obviously they didn't because my car wouldn't have been a CSI crime scene. Better yet maybe they did to protect THEIR hands but they definitely weren't thinking about transferring their work grease onto the inside of my vehicle. I will never return back to this location and I will make sure that my family, friends or my clients never return as well. The only person I will recommend to go here is a sales representative from Uline. They'll be able to provide you with years worth of gloves that ACTUALLY protect the clients vehicles and the vendor you get them from now, should definitely reimburse you. Lastly, please remember. For years I've maintained all of my family cars at Maplewood Meineke and that includes driving 40 minutes to get there. The mechanics are competent and the owner, Vinnie, is honest and helpful. His recommendations have saved me even bigger expenses and for years none of my or my family auto's have broken down on the road. Vinnie and his team are worth every nickel. My battery died overnight and Vinny at Meineke was able to fit me in that day, had the part in stock, ran a diagnostic to make sure I needed to even replace my battery and had the job done within an hour. He even tested the air pressure in my tires and made me aware of an expired inspection. I had a great experience and definitely plan to return! read more

Comments from others about Vinnie's loud mouth, rude behavior, over pricing are absolutely TRUE!
