Mei's Supermarket is my favorite Asian market in town by far. Great food, excellent customer service, everyone who works there is super nice and the prices are awesome! The ambiance isn't shiny and crazy like some of the other newer Asian markets in town, but if you can look past that, you'll find the cheapest, freshest, highest quality seafood and Asian imports around, plus they have a really awesome bakery with authentic fresh baked Chinese pastries and buns every day, dim sum to go, and an awesome little restaurant in the back with the authentic Chinese dishes and a little boba tea place too. The selection of imported drinks and frozen dumplings is awesome, and they do specials all the time if you buy enough groceries you get a free (I think it's like $50). They haven't been as popular lately cause of the newer Asian markets in town but I've been going here since I was a kid and it's an amazing place that deserves some love. They have a wide variety of products and I could probably stay there all day looking at everything. There is also a small food court with a great place called tt crepes house. They have a small menu, but they cook with their heart and you can definitely taste that! Both people behind the counter were very friendly and I felt at home. Mei's is the closest Asian grocery store to me, so it gets a lot of my business by default. It is not my favorite place to shop for fresh vegetables and fruits because I often find that they are out of what I need or the produce isn't bright and fresh. I have a feeling it is because it's the only Asian supermarket in our immediate area, so it gets picked over quickly. For dry goods, like noodles, jarred sauces, and seasoning, they usually carry what I'm looking for. If they don't have a specific brand, they will usually have a suitable substitute. They do have a bakery and a hot food section. Their bakery is great. I've gotten moon cakes, filled bao buns, and cream buns there many times and my family enjoyed them. We ordered from the hot bar one time and the food was inedible. The crepe spot is newer and wonderful. I do wish they could repave the parking lot. My elderly mother tripped in on one of the many uneven, cracked pieces of asphalt and took a pretty bad fall on our last visit. They probably don't have control of that if they are renting the space, but it's something to look out for when you're visiting. read more

When the craving hits to have something sweet but not too heavy, I like to stop here to get my dose of authentic Asian milk buns & treats here in East Orlando instrad of driving downtown to Mills. Taro buns and pork buns are my favorite but it's always nice to choose from the variety. Here I was too excited to get home and lined up my stash to brag in a text with family. ^_^ Thes always make me so excited!!! This market has improved since ownership changed a long while ago. I love how there's mini shops (almost like a food court) for foods like duck and ramen. The supermarket itself has good selections of seafood, snacks, and frozen goods. I even buy my home hot pot ingredients here! I will say that they are lacking in the cold drink department compared to other Asian markets. Overall, this is good choice to visit on the east side of town. read more

We're traveling through Orlando on the way to the Villages and it was nice to find a large scale Asian supermarket on Colonial Drive. It's the much more updated and large scale version of the small stores more central on Colonial. They do have a wide selection that you would expect in a store of this scale. They even have an herb section with American Ginseng, Sea Cucumber (very reasonably priced!), and dried scallops. Prices are reasonable. There was even an unexpected bonus of a free lunch box from their hot deli since we spent over $100 of groceries. Also a bonus is a Chinese bakery to grt your egg tarts and sponge cakes. They have live tanks for lobster, Dungeness crab, live fish, and blue crab troughs. There's a section for Chinese cookware and table settings. They carry an entire section of porcelain ware, which is rare to find. It may be helpful to know that they have a commercial section for restaurant supplies, cookware, and bulk items. Not quite a 99 Ranch, but pretty darn close! Tips: There's free parking in the lot, and be sure to bring your large recycled grocery bags as they only have the tiny plastice bags! Plan your grocery trip you can grab a bite either in the deli of dim sum next door at Hong Kong Alley. read more

This newly open supermarket definitely is a go to visit place. The supermarket has three independent store in the market. The old Beijing, Tokyo ramen and the bakery store. It is convenient located at East Orlando on Colonial Drive. Since the supermarket just opened, the frozen section is really really really fresh on all items. It is great to have many selections. The seafood and meat market also available to order. They carry a lot of Chinese fermented sauces I have not seen before. There is a lot of checkout lines which help to speed up the process on checkout. Currently the shelves are filling up. They are not yet have total display all the good because they just open less than a week. Very close to UCF for the Chinese students to shop. read more

This is a decent Asian Market located in a strip mall on East Colonial Drive that has definitely seen better days. I guess the anchor store for this strip wall would be the bowling alley. Well I have been in better markets, this is a good one located on the east side of town, which makes it convenient for those of us who live a little bit of distance from the other Asian markets. The prices are competitive I may have a decent selection of items. They offer a lot of grocery type items, as well as vegetables, Meat and seafood. They also have a hot food area. Oh, and the frozen food area. Honestly, I usually avoid Seafood departments in Asian markets simply because the seafood has a strong smell, which I was always taught to avoid. Asian America Pacific Islander Heritage Month is May. Orlando Chinatown is more conceptual than actual. The center of most ethnic communities has always been the supermarket. Local and changing demographics demand certain products and services, especially for millennials and college students all who do not cook. Ready to eat meals and food courts are almost mandatory. HH&M Bakery has most of my Chinese items needed. Found sticky rice dumplings just like mom used to make. Old Beijing and Tokyo Ramen and Tea Plus are in food court also. The Chinese BBQ is awesome. Located in Union Park Alamo Plaza, next to Hong Kong Alleys Kitchen. I try to eat judiciously there so I can shop for BBQ to go and bakery at Mei's Supermarket afterward. Wow, this place! It's def a new Asian gem in East Orlando. Not to comment on anything else, it's prob average compared to any other Asian supermarkets. But the food court, especially the bakery, O-M-G! It's prob one of the best Asian bakeries in Orlando. All of their buns and flaky dessert treats are SO good!! All of them are not overwhelmingly sweet, but also super buttery, full of fillings, and crazy yummy. Best of all is that all of them are HUGE, but very fairly priced individually, also buy 5 get 1 free on top of that! Literally, this continues to blow my mind by day, like, what???? Sometimes I doubt how they even profit from this. Or maybe they just don't, and continue letting the supermarket itself do the job. At the same time, the owners are literally so nice and offer amazing service! There's this once I bought a grocery bag full of buns and dessert treats, paid for them, but left them on the counter and totally forgot til the next day. When I came back, I found out that the owner told her staff the night before to put everything back, but also hand written my order on a piece of sticky note so I get fresh ones whenever I come back. This is such amazing business ethnics, very heartwarming, and definitely made my day. I will for sure come back to support them any moment and hope they continue to get great business! read more

Wow, this place has changed a lot... for the better. We went there before covid and we thought this place was not going to make it. For My surprise it looks so much better and so much cleaner. Their bakery pastries and buns were excellent. They are between $1.50-$2.00 and buy 5 get 1 free. I got a variety of things and it was not disappointing. Their rost pork bun is full of meat and not just red filling with a few pieces of pork. Their egg custard was creamy with a nice crispy shell. They also have tjung (zongzi..sticky rice wrap). It was $3.50 but it's worth it. Great flavor and average filling. It is a pretty good size too.. Can't find it anywhere unless you go to a dim sum place. They also have ramen noodle bowls, rice bowls, crispy pork, duck, and other goodies. I didn't have much time to explore but I'm definetly going back to get more pastries and tjung. I love checking out different grocery stories, and trying their bakeries. The produce section is decent in the grocery. They have a section for reduced priced produce. The day I was there the lady came over with her cart full of the newly reduced items to let me get first grabs, which was really sweet. They marked down a big bag of tomatoes to $1 which is good to make sauce with. Lots of shelf stable, frozen meats, and various household items. The bakery has a deal if you buy 5 items you get one free. It was about $13 for all the bakery items, which I think is reasonable. read more

It has a good selections of items that I want, including bakery and duck. I do like ordering from their takeout area. This used to be a really sad Asian supermarkets for many years. Constantly struggling to survive, big space, bare shelves, etc. It's starting to take a more vibrant turn now with a bakery (where you can also special order cakes), bubble tea, and ramen bar. There's even an aisle for restaurant equipment. They do struggle to keep the produce section stocked and fresh, but they just don't have a high enough turnover. That does translate to a lot of bargain bags, though. Same with the meat section. It's limited and the butcher is not that great. Their snack aisle is pretty good. I've been able to find some big bags of imported Lay's flavors that no other Asian supermarkets have carried. Biggest plus is probably since it's away from the main Viet/Chinese section of town, parking at this plaza is a lot roomier and easier to get in and out. Also, a lot of the staff is pretty nice, whether it's the food stalls or the checkout staff. Only exception might be the elderly lady that sometimes does checkout. read more

Mei's is a pretty fantastic find! I hadn't found a market this size and diverse east of the Lotte Plaza Market, which is much closer to downtown Orlando. It even has a fresh ramen bar, bakery, and boba tea shop for customers. While it wasn't the cleanest and had a few expired items, I was surprised that every product had a label above the price with the English translation! I tried the super fruit tea while I was there for $5.50, which was great, and I definitely suggest checking out their snack aisles. read more

Since this is so out-of-the-way for us, it's only the second time we've been to this Asian market (mainly Chinese and Vietnamese). There's a bakery right where you enter, on the left, along with a bobba tea stand; around the corner, a BBQ counter, with good competitive prices. The cleanliness of the store itself is about a B-, not the worst I've seen and not the best. The shelves were maybe a notch higher, fairly neatly arranged, not too much of the boxes piled high in the aisles phenomenon. We really only shopped the produce area. Prices are comparable to 'average', but not as many deals, for instance, compared to Enson in recent weeks, and better than Lotte (which has declined some recently). We were able to get some decent oranges for 59 cents each, along with some veggies. I'm bummed, though, that I lost my brand new sunglasses in there. Put them down somewhere to snap a few photos for Yelp, and I could not find them again. Maybe someone swiped them? I blame myself really, but perhaps Yelp will reimburse me? No? read more

Mei is improving slowly everyday. They add more joints that suit the customers' preference including the Boba place, dimsum etc. However a couple of times now what I have observed is that - some of the produce have molds or canned goods are expired. I hope they work on it and improve it in that part. But I admire them trying to improve and add their selections everyday and try to assess their customers wants and needs. read more

Recently bought a canister of black garlic, once i got home, i noticed it was full of mold. Not really any apologies from the person who took care of my refund, at first he asked me to exchange it or buy something else before i can even get a refund. I said i just want a refund. I got the refund and i didnt even get any taxes back. Its alright, i wont be petty over a few cents.
