I bought my Ariens Zero Turn mower over 12 years ago. I've maintained it so it's lasted longer than expected. I purchased the mower new from Southern Indiana Equipment (SIE). SIE hasn't carried Ariens mowers for many years, and they do not carry ANY Ariens parts what-so-ever. Additionally the only retailer selling Ariens in the Louisville area is Lowes and they do not handle parts either. BTW this lack of a replacement parts is something you should consider before buying any brand mower. Yes you can find parts on line, but many times you need the part today and on line purchases are not always reliable and can take a week or more to be delivered. All that said, recently I've needed a couple parts and could not find them anywhere locally. When I searched on line for my parts, several times my part number was cross referenced with Gravely mower parts. Ariens and Gravely are made by the same manufacturer. So I start researching Gravely dealers in the Louisville area. Eureka, The Mower Shop is a Gravely dealer! Not only is The Mower Shop a Gravely dealer, they carry a large inventory of replacement parts. The Mower Shop has had every part I've needed so far, and at reasonable prices. Additionally, the employees I've dealt with were all friendly and knowledgeable. IF I ever buy a new zero turn, The Mower Shop will be my first stop! read more

I drove accross town because we had a Toro mower with A Briggs and Stratton engine...not purchased there. We did not have the recept or card statement. but after contacting Toro/ Briggs they suggested going to an authorized service center and if it was that new ( less than year ?) they would be able to verify by serial # ...I remembered my parents had bought mowers there years back (I'm almost 68 so years ago) the guy at the desk was very courteous. But he went back to ask the " lady that handled warranties" each time he came back I wasn't able to provide..receipt no..credit card statement no ...I had intended to leave it for repair ( on my dime) but an older larger woman came out to repeat what he had already said...but then said I had not been told what I said by the engine company...as a retired medical professional I suppose I had not been called a liar in so long I was shocked. He went to see cost to check it out after he stepped away I thought why patronize people who feel free to call you a liar ..so I eggresses replaced my mower in the truck...but came back In side to tell him why I was not leaving it and to thank him for his time. They appear busy so I guess they have plenty of business...not to worry I won't waste another minute there....I looked online when I returned home and there are things posted from Briggs and Toro indicating what I was told. I'm not sure why she chose to say they never told you that as opposed to they may have told you that but our company policy won't allow it or ? Perhaps being a mower warranty clerk in a mower shop at her age has made her bitter ? Who knows... I think we'd use pinking shears on the lawn before returning there. read more

I ordered three Grasshopper blade spindles (623757) for my Grasshopper 930D2 with a 3472 deck. I was not advised that this part had been made obsolete and superseded by Grasshopper 623701. I wasn't made aware of this until the order arrived from The Mower Shop. The inventory specialist at this shop undoubtedly dropped the ball on this one. Additionally, The Mower Shop defers it shipping to a company called Shopify. Accordingly, I received two different shipping charges for the three spindles. The Mower Shop charged me $82.19, and Shopify claimed I should have been charged $39.53. When I called The Mower Shop and requested a reconciliation of the shipping charges, the customer service agent disavowed any knowledge of the Shopify email sent me. Lana then became both argumentative and contentious over the issue. This is the result of a company who subcontracts their shipping responsibility to a separate company and then refuses to accept the errors of either The Mower Shop or Shopify. I recommend you find a Grasshopper sanctioned dealer who processes the order correctly AND does their own shipping to ensure the order is error free and requires few, if any, contacts between the customer and argumentative employees. read more

This place is ten miles away from where I live. I called and asked if they sharpened push mowers. The guy who answered was very nice and ran down all the costs ($8 per blade, but an extra charge if they have to do x, y and z differently, etc). So I load up my mower and drive over there. Initially they are very nice and helpful, the shop is very tidy and well laid out, but the minute I open the car hatch he says "oh don't even take that out, we don't service that brand" WHAT At no time was I ever told there might be a brand they don't service?? Then he sends me 7 miles in another direction (to a shop where they took the mower from me no problem). An absolute waste of my day. If someone calls to ask about service you might want to ask what brand they have so as not to waste someones time. read more

The Mower Shop guys know how to take care of customers. I grew up a sawyer but I never had a Stihl until recently, finding out you can flood one fast if you do what I did. Even though I had broken it down and put it back together, it still wouldn't start. He told me what to do and assured me it would work, otherwise bring it in. I first went to the Mower Shop in 2000 to purchase a Honda mower after going thru 3 "Wal-Mart" specials in 3 years (luckily they were under warranty). You will pay a little more for a Honda (they also have Toro and the full Stihl lineup of power tools) but after 19 years it's still going strong. The "winter care" tune-up is well worth it, they service your mower from Dec-Feb at a 10% discount, and if anything goes wrong the next year, you get expedited service, so while everywhere else has a 3 week backlog in the summer, you get it back within 3 days. You pay a little more for the work here ($120+ for a 2-blade self propelled service), but when I've gone to other places to save a few bucks I've regretted it (one place didn't change the spark plug, another didn't really sharpen the blade or power wash the deck). Bonus Tip: eat at Barry's Cheesesteaks just a few doors down after your visit! read more

I had my 18 year old Stihl chain saw serviced last year. Unfortunately, it didn't want to start after 29 pulls this year. Called the mower shop and talked to the nicest technician who explained what was probably the matter. If the saw didn't start, bring it in and since I had only used it for 1 hour in 2019, the would consider it under warranty. Went out and followed his instructions and it started right up. I'm 77 and found them to be the best. Great service, friendly, and they know their product. read more

Friendly at first. When I revealed I have a very small yard and don't need a $500 mower I was invited to other options outside the shop. I went to Menard's and got $120 mower that I use to cut grass for 15 minutes per week. I think Mower Shop is more appropriate for people with big yards and big pocket books. At the big box stores, they simply sometimes don't have the expertise. Newland at the Mower Shop took the time to answer every question and even demonstrate various things. I left with the right equipment and the knowledge to make sure I can execute the various projects before me.
