Glass Mountain Magazine held an open-mic event here as a part of their annual Boldface conference, which is what brought me here. I'll admit that I was somewhat disappointed when I walked in that it didn't seem authentic like I thought it would be. I expected a real French atmosphere and staff, but obviously that's not fair to the place. That's not a critique, but the expectation did influence my experience. The second thing I notice was about the "house-made flavors" for the coffee. I saw the adjective of "house-made" in the Yelp menu pictures which is what got me excited. In-house syrups is the factor that brings me to a coffeeshop. That's what tells me this is the real deal, that this place is putting in real effort to craft a balance drink. Melange realizes this as well. They knew that would draw people, but let me tell you, these flavors are not "house-made." I literally saw a bottle of Monin syrup on the counter. How that is made in house I can't comprehend. Look, I saw the jars of nutella on the counter behind the glass wall, which may make my question sound stupid, but I dumbly thought those were just for the crepes. So when I walked up to the register, I asked the guy "How do you make the nutella flavor for the coffee?" I wanted to know because I myself have tried mixing nutella into my drip coffee at home and it never dissolves. In response, he stared at me in confusion. I rephrased: "Like how do you put the nutella in the latte?" He simply said, "Thin nutella." I did not confront him about the "house-made" adjective on the chalkboard. I did not have it in me. But I thought maybe this could still be good. I was handed a paper cup, which also disappointed me, for I expected a mug, but I can only hold that against myself. The real cardinal sin of coffeeshops that was committed here was that I could not taste the coffee. I am not kidding when I say it tasted like hot nutella milk and that was it. Obviously it tasted good-I like the taste of nutella. But that's not what I ordered. Now again I'm non-confrontational and there were only two employees who were working on a bunch of other orders so I didn't bother complaining. But the lack of coffee in my latte is the bulk of my frustration with Melange Creperie. I also should mention that my latte was decaf, which could have contributed to the distinct lack of coffee taste, I'm not sure, but that seems like an important detail. Now I did enjoy my sausage crepe. The white cheddar and egg were smooth and velvety and the mustard added a nice acidity to contrast with the andouille sausage. But it does feel overpriced at $16 and I wish there was a bit more sausage. If I lived in Houston, I would probably return to try more crepes, but I would never order coffee from here again. read more

Ahh... Ehhhh.. I've enjoyed this place but their price quality ratio has decreased. I know, I know, inflation has hit everyone. But that Brie & Jam crepe for $8.50 with less than 2 bites of brie and 1.5 teaspoons of uneven jam spread left me disappointed. I've been meaning to stop in for a while. I always se with when I'm driving past or getting food nearby. Today I decided to check them out. I grabbed a "hot girl latte" which is brown cinnamon sugar, mocha, and oat milk. It's 80 degrees in February so I got it iced. And a breakfast taco crepe. The crepe is served handheld but they do offer plates if you ask. I love the selection of savory and sweet crepes. There something for everyone. They also serve sandwiches and salads. The ambience is chill and inviting. It's bright due to the natural light beaming through the windows and they had r&b playing in the background. Aaliyah and coffee I'm sold. Service was great. I was immediately greeted upon entering and the cashier was friendly and knowledgeable. I'll definitely be back because they have a large menu and items that I want to try. I was planning on giving this place 4 stars, but when we were leaving, the people at the front were really nice about putting more cream inside of my Vietnamese coffee to make it more palatable for me, and more sugar and as well since it was quite strong but not sweet, so I bumped it up to a 5 star review. I will say the outside and inside of it is very cute and it seems like it's some place that should be on the beach somewhere, because of the fun colors and I really love that about it. What I didn't love was my creep pretty much had no filling inside of it because I got the one that had brie but there was only a couple of small pieces of at the end of the crepe, and it didn't only taste like anything. There really wasn't any flavor. The Vietnamese coffee like I said, was strong, but good. I also tasted my husband's latte and that was nice as well. His crepe had more flavor and tasted better since it was bananas and strawberry, and had nutella filling so of course it was more filling, which I expected, but I also expected my crap to have flavor. Crepes, crepes, crepes! Stopped by on a Sunday mid-morning and we were informed it would be a 30-40 minute wait for food! Good thing we weren't in a rush and was just enjoying a leisurely morning. Ended up walking around the area after ordering. There is also seating outside and we happened to be there on a day where it wasn't 100 degrees. I chose the breakfast taco crepe which consisted of a generous portion of potatoes, egg, sauteed veggies, and salsa. The egg is cracked directly onto the crepe as it cooks and is incorporated directly into the crepe itself. The potatoes were soft and fluffy, the cheese melty, and veggies added a nice texture. At first I thought they had forgotten the salsa but it is mixed into the filling. I ended up asking for another serving of salsa on the side which really elevated the flavors. In my opinion, this crepe could have benefitted from some sausage and a bit less potatoes. Overall, this was a fun experience. The weather was beautiful and the food was tasty. read more

Came here for brunch today and really enjoyed the food and the service! Parking was super easy since it was only about 9:30, and sitting inside was nice and quiet. The staff were super friendly, and we ordered the Michelle, the Sausage, and the Cereal crepes. They were all delicious, but I will say the savory ones were definitely a little bigger and more filling than the cereal one. Wow wow wow! This restaurant is incredible. First of all it's super cute, inside and out. A pink outside and a cool parisian cafe looking inside. The flavors of crepes are plentiful, sweet or savory, you have a large pick. I got the jian bing, it was so delicious, Each bite was crispy because of the wonton, the sauce complimented each bite well. The crepe itself was so soft. My sister got the Sweet Tooth crepe and liked the flavor, but they over cooked her crepe, so it was weirdly crunchy and brittle throughout the whole crepe. My mom loved the cappuccino, but the hot chocolate tasted a little funky. We waited a good 20 minutes for our crepes since there was a decent crowd and I only saw two people working. They have their crêpe batter and filling combos down to a science, and I've always enjoyed my picks - my favorite is the nostalgia-inducing and texturally satisfying cereal crêpe with cinnamon toast crunch (sometimes fruity pebbles), sweet cream, and your choice of fruit (I like bananas!) Others I've tried include the banana Nutella (a classic combination and the cheapest on the menu), the s'mores crêpe (a sticky, fantastic mess), and most recently the holiday-inspired Wolverine (bananas, chocolate chips, pumpkin butter, and pie crumbs). One day I'll have the foresight to save room for one of the mouthwatering savory options - the green chile chicken and Cuban are the most compelling to me. For vegan or dairy-free peeps - they offer a dosa (Indian chickpea) batter for $1 extra, and you can add/subtract fillings to suit your dietary preferences. Most crêpes cost between $7-9 but are guaranteed to fill you up, so I would recommend splitting with a friend. Came here on a Saturday around 11:30am and the place wasn't packed. When we arrived, it was just a family eating. When we entered the restaurant, not one staff greeted a "good morning" or "welcome" whatsoever. The menu is listed on a blackboard. There were a bunch of yummy options to choose from. We ordered The Michelle - it consisted of ham, brie, and mixed berries jam. While waiting, I asked for some glasses for the water station. The staff said those were there on the side. I saw two silver trays there - one empty, the other one had three tin containers upside down, similar to where you would put cotton balls in any bathroom. I went back to the counter and i told them that there were no glasses, they said the glasses were the tin cups - well I wish they informed me in detail! They didn't care. When our order was ready, it was served like a sandwich. Folded and wrapped in a foil and parchment paper. There weren't any plates on the table nor utensils. Nonetheless, I was so hungry, I ate it just like that. The crepe was good and tasty. Come departure time, we said thank you..... and nothing in return. The staff I believe were in their teens or college-ish years...nonchalant and rude. They weren't friendly AT ALL! Too bad I really liked their crepes but staff attitude is a turn off. Might as well order dessert for breakfast when you can and for me it's a crepe dessert breakfast. Iced coffee here is pretty strong and you need to ask for your cream as they don't keep it out for self service. This place was hopping and people were coming and going as a street fair was also going on. I am sure if this place was twice the size it would still be as busy. Even as busy as it was, the crepes were coming out fast and no one seemed to be complaining. A lot of conversation and happiness in crepe eating was going on. The furniture is a cross storm of minimalist and modern, yet well spaced out and not crammed. We saw the photos of the menu and noticed there were different items the day we went, they possibly change it up a few times a year. The Cuban Crepe is a pure definition of a savory crepe. You always have The Cuban Crepe to fall back on, should you ever fear the adventure of trying another savory crepe. We loved this and our tastebuds encouraged us to have a sweet crepe. Enter the Strawberry Cheesecake, a crepe as direct as its' name, nothing but strawberry slices in the midst of a thick layer of cheesecake whip that will leave you eating it down to the last drip. It was great that we were able to walk in, order, and sit down when other restaurants required reservations in advance. We all tried the crepes, and thought they were excellent (the sausage was particularly good, said my friend Lizzie). The only knock for me was that they were out of bread and muffins, and I was primarily interested in trying a sandwich. But overall, I'm happy to have tried the crepes, for a good price! The cushion for the bench was also flat. So yeah, this place fell flat on the drinks. The crepes are still pretty good. Ham and cheese tasted how you'd expect it to, and I still enjoyed the cookie butter, banana, and cinnamon crepe. Melange creperie was just meh to okay. We tried the sweet and sour pork crepe and the sausage crepe. The sweet and sour pork didn't have much filling, and the taste was just okay. The sausage crepe tasted better, but the size of the crepes is not consistent. The service was not very nice; the staff taking orders was very curt and not friendly when we asked which crepe she'd recommend. She also touched the cash from the register then went around touching the food (the station is open so you can see them making the crepes right in front of you). The employees making the crepes and drinks were not in a great mood either; one of them kept making snide comments while she made the drinks which we could hear standing on the other side of the counter. Additionally, one of the employees was not wearing a hair covering, and there was a hair melted into the cheese in the sausage crepe. They did remake it which was nice of them, but the second crepe came out smaller than the first. Waiting for these two crepes plus the remake took quite some time (more than 30 minutes for the first two). There are a few tables inside. All in all, I doubt I'll come here again. read more

Atmosphere was bright, sleek, and clean, with a calm vibe. They also had the contemporary rock music in the background for flow. There was plenty of good seating indoors and on the patio. Hubby: Cuban Crepe: Pickles, Pork, Ham, Swiss, and little Dijon. My crepe was gluten and soy free due to allergies. I don't do a lot of pork but it was recommended by the staff and it didn't disappoint!!!The crepe was perfect in consistency and the ingredients came together well. Nice touches, nothing complicated. If I was to change anything I would ask for the ham to be cooked. The Americano was a chill $3.50. It was bold and hot. I don't add anything to my coffee. Home Girl: Had the Jian Bing which she couldn't stop describing as so delicious: egg, cilantro, green onion, wonton, sriracha & sweet chili sauce. All of her favorite ingredients. I tried Melange this past week with Dad on a whim after an appointment in the Heights. We were craving a brunch snack, and this creperie seemed right up our alley. I really liked the area Melange is located in - there are cute storefronts, yoga places, and restaurants surrounding the building with ample parking as well. We had no difficulty finding a parking spot right outside Melange and quickly ventured inside. They have a large rotating selection of crepes to choose from - both savory and sweet. We decided to try the Ratatouille crepe, and it did not disappoint! I usually don't like squash, but I couldn't even notice its usual taste behind the sauce and seasoning of the crepe. The storefront was also quite beautiful, with intricate chandeliers, charming decor, and elegantly arranged tables and chairs. I also fell in love with their plates - they seemed adorably rustic but also perfect for the restaurant. If I'm in the Heights area again, I'll be back! read more

This place has been on my list for years and so glad I finally stopped by! It wasn't too busy so we took our time looking through the options. I decided on the The Michelle, which is a Brie/Ham/Jam crepe and my friend got the Super Veggie which was filled with veggies, cheese and an egg. They were SO good! I do wish I had more jam but other than that it was delicious! We were both pretty hungry and the sweet crepes were calling to us so we each got sweet crepes. If you have not been to Austin, then I think you should go to the Heights in Houston. I think that is the closest place I've ever been to Austin. With that being said, this crêperie is so cool, as you can tell I think Austin is very cool as a City. When you walk in everyone is smiling and interested and ready to help you, they asked if it was your first time there so that they can explain the menu. Drinks are already cool as I got there very close to their opening. People are in kind of co-working, some people on dates as well as families. I got a Nutella and strawberry crêpe and my husband got the breakfast crepe. I also got a hot chocolate in my husband got a hot chai tea latte. I have been reading chai tea latte at 10 out of 10 as I read my hot chocolate 10 out of 10 I really loved my crepe. Let me say this I'm not really a crêpes person so this is my first time eating crops and I truly enjoyed it. It was a lot so I could not finish it. I truly think it was a shareable size. My husband ate breakfast, so he could not finish his either. He rated it an eight out of 10 claiming that the actual crêpe was phenomenal. This will be a really cute place for a baby shower, or any woman empowerment event. I will be doing a woman empowerment event here even just for Content. I did come here originally to take some Content and they came out fire by the way. Loved the thinness of the crepe along with crispy outer edge. And filled with a good amount of ham and nice slices of brie. Mmm soo good! It does come out in a hand held wrap almost, not a plate so you gotta eat it fast while it's fresh! The jam did squeeze out a little bit at the end in to the foil but overall, not too messy at all! Also seating is super cute with purple booths and small tables. They have one large table too but it can get sunny and a bit warm over there. Because these crepes were just okay. --- --- --- After a nearby dinner, my wife and I wanted to pop into Marine Layer after seeing our Facebook/Instagram feeds both full of interesting looking ads from them over the past year. Spoiler alert: they took our money. But what better thing to do after spending a bunch of money on nice, but overpriced clothes? Spend more money! We're always craving sweets after a meal so we walked across the way to Melange Creperie. To be honest, these crepes weren't great. They were actually quite hard on the outside, which made them quite difficult to cut up and eat with the plastic knives that were made available to us. The crepe was light, fluffy, and full of flavor. There was an equal amount of meat and veggies which was something I do appreciate. I've been to other crepe places and been cheated with the lack of ingredients. I also got a latte and that was really tasty as well. If you guys are in the area, this place is worth checking out.
