There is a lot of potential for this theater. It's in a great location and they have wonderful raw talent, but lack in their theatrics, stage design, and props. However, it's a smaller stage compared to the other theaters in the area and very limited seating (currently 30-40 or so). So, with COVID and all it's tough to manage and I give them props for pushing through. They recently had a play of Christmas Carol featuring only four actors that did a phenomenal job with very little. It was all about the dialogue and using your imagination and they did an outstanding job at bringing the story to life! Looking forward to seeing this theater grow and develop further! read more

My husband and I joined up with fifteen family members to enjoy a night out at the Melbourne Civic Theatre. It's a small venue where tickets sell out quickly. This year we chose the Christmas Variety Show with Alfie Silva and featuring David Hill, Kim Cole and Corrine Marie. It started at 8pm and was listed as a charity event. Before the show they sold tickets for a 50/50 raffle where the winning number would be picked during intermission. Alcohol and candy was sold before the show and during the intermission. Each seat had a cute little back pillow that did very little to ensure comfort. During the second hour of the show I was dying to get up and move around. The stage is very quaint and the sound is perfect. We all thought that the show was entertaining and plan to attend again. There were many funny moments and the music was good. Although Alfie is considered the star I thought that Corrine was exceptional. I would like to see her take more of a leading role along side of Alfie. read more

Melbourne Civic Theatre is a cute quaint place located in Downtown Melbourne. The area is full of lovely boutiques and all types of eateries to fit everyone's tastes. The theatre puts on several plays during the season .It's a small theater that seats under 100 patrons. They have a 50/50 raffle that is drawn after the performance. The seating is very comfy with a great view, no matter where you sit with a nice pillow in every seat. When you first walk in there are tables and chairs set up like you are getting ready for a nice afternoon for tea. They have beer, wine, soda, water and anice assortment of candy bars to enjoy during the performance. For this play there was no intermission. I enjoyed the evening and look forward to seeing what else they have for the the rest of the season. I will be back. They also offer a 10 percent discount at local restaurants. You will find that useful information on the back of your ticket. Reading is fundamental. read more

We are advocates for wearing masks in large groups of people where it is impossible to know who has been vaccinated and if anyone is infected with COVID. The website states "patrons are requested to wear masks and maintain social distancing". However, when we sat in our seats 50% of the patrons were not wearing masks. We left before the show began due to this and advised the person taking tickets that we felt misled that the mask rule wasn't enforced. She indicated that they highly recommend not require masks. Also, every seat is sold and "social distancing" is impossible. The website is very misleading. Surfside in Cocoa Beach requires masks and staggers seating. For those who want to stop the spread of COVID, I would highly recommend Surfside as an alternative venue. read more

We have attended many plays at this civic theater. All are very professionally performed. It is a very small venue, less than 100 seats, so you are very close to the performers. I refuse to sit in the front row (row A) because it's like being part of the play, the audience is that close. After attending a few plays a few years ago, we have bought season tickets ever since. They usually have 2 musical performances each year. The Holiday performances of "Holidays with Dino" is a must see! After each performance, you have the opportunity to meet and greet the actors. read more

We decided to try this place on a whim, and absolutely loved it. We saw A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and everyone in it was excellent. They all made me laugh and gasp, and everyone was so talented. The place is small and quaint and the seats are very comfortable, they even gave us back pillows. Unlike myself though, make sure that you don't have to get up and go to the restroom during an act, because it's impossible for you to sneak by, because you have to walk in front of everyone and practically get up on stage to walk by. My husband, daughter and I attended a performance titled, "The Cocktail Hour". There were many very funny moments (and some poignant ones) and we laughed our heads off! The performers were wonderful, each one had many, many lines to remember and all did a fantastic job! We were all truly entertained. This was the best community theater performance I've seen.
