Yes indeed, another excellent minor league baseball experience at The Jack. This time it was Christmas in July night which is something that could only exist in minor league baseball. So cheesy that it was a melt but all good fun with the giving out of prizes every half inning and some fun nonsense with Shelldon. No seat is a bad seat, well maybe with the exception of baking out in the sun on the 3B side bleachers or if you're lucky enough to get stuck behind one of the posts that supports the roof, and since attendance is always seemingly miserable you can score great seats at the last minute. The food selections are basic (some minor league parks really have expanded and bougified their offerings) but here it's still your basic dogs, burgers, pretzels, chicken fingers, funnel cake fries that make up the back bone of the menu. The good thing is that prices across the board are very reasonable and the surroundings are small/informal enough that the friendliness of the staff really shines through. The Tortugas won and we saw some good pitching from Daytona along with two home runs. Sure there were also a few mental lapses from St. Lucie that equaled two errors but it was still a solid game. Good pricing, super easy to do everything from park, get tickets, find your seat, etc. All in all a great time. Definitely a must do! read more

The park is nice and a great place to see a game. However no matter what the size of the crowd the concessions are impossibly slow. Make sure you eat and drink before you go in, buying anything from the concession stands can take several innings. I don't know why it's like this, it is for certain the slowest service I have ever gotten at a ball park. It doesn't seem to matter if the place is packed (Savannah Bananas game earlier this year), or 1/3 to 1/2 full (Sunday last game of season). There is a stand that sells just beer and another that sells beer and water only, those are usable, but the other concessions that sell soft drinks and food are unusable because of the time it takes. read more

My wife, 11 year old son, and I went to a Tortuga game for the first time this past Saturday. What a great family-friendly experience it was. Easy to get in and out of the parking lot, tickets easy to purchase on-line or walk up window, friendly staff, great food and drink prices, and a competitive product on the field. The pitcher we saw threw a one-hitter! As we walked from our car to the stadium, one of the parking attendants waved my son over and gave him a baseball! My son was hooked. Get there early because there is a great little area behind home plate to eat and drink, plus there's many historical exhibits regarding the great Jackie Robinson. I knew his story before going, but learned so much more that night. If you're a local, or vacationing in the area, I strongly suggest catching a game. You won't regret it. We made the drive from Orlando and we can't wait to do it again! read more

The Daytona Cubs are a High-A farm team. The amount of fun and entertainment provided by a relatively inexpensive admission is incredible. The majority of the seats are general admission, so you can choose to sit in the uncovered bleachers on the third base side, or the covered grandstands behind home plate, and down the first base side. There are lots of promotions, and stuff to keep kids entertained at the park. Since there's no TV commercial timeouts, games seen to move along much faster than what you may be used to. There's plenty of free parking within easy walking distance, and the ballpark and it's concessions are nice. There's a patio area all the way down the first base line with it's own bar, and that's where a lot of younger folks will gather. I like the pizza, and the sausages that are cooked on the grill at the game the best. read more

Before you go to this wonderful park, do a little research on the historical significance of Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Sight lines are limited in the 1st base stands, but you will enjoy the shade until early evening...bring your sun glasses. If you sit in the 3rd base stands, bring your sunblock or an umbrella. I grew up in Ormond Beach and went to every single Cubs game I could. I recently went back for the first time in 10 plus years and it's exactly how I remembered, except now I can drink at them and enjoy that aspect of it! The games are very cheap. We did general admission sitting near third base for $7.00. You sit on regular bleachers which can get uncomfortable after a long period of time, but worth the money. They have happy hour from 5:00 to 7:00 and we had just missed it by 15 minutes, but the bartender said she runs the specials until the game starts, so we were in luck! We got two 32 ounce Yuenglings for $7.00 total which was such a steal. They have an awesome selection of draft beer including a lot of craft beers to choose from, which is awesome! I hear the deals are even better on Thirsty Thursdays! During the 7th inning they announced 2-4-1 hot dogs, so of course we took them up on that offer as well, which we paid $2.00 for. There's always some sort of special going on during the games, we were lucky enough to catch a firework show at the one we attended. Their mascot, Cubby is always walking around, so you can get pictures with him which is always a must. I highly recommend going here for a fun, cheap night out! read more

I'm all about supporting the local businesses and what a better way to do so by going to a Daytona Cubs game. They have covered stadium seating which is great for more then a few reasons. They also have a family friendly alcohol free section- which is wonderful. Overall, going to a Cubs game is a great family event. They have lots of activities for the kids and they are constantly giving out prizes. Although the season is coming to a close- I will definitely go back next year. read more

I was on vacation from CA and was able to catch some minor league ball at this great park. It had a real Americana type atmosphere and just a vibe that allows you to slow down and enjoy a ball game. Friendly people and good times. Being able to see a minor league ball game less than a mile from the Atlantic Ocean is pretty cool. You stay classy Daytona. read more

Nice little advanced A league base ball field. The Tortugas play here at the Jackie Robinson stadium. This is a very small quaint ball field, it's almost as nice as the Batavia Muck dogs . This is a very old ball field to bad it's a rainy night but we are under cover. They still have over head large propeller type fans at the covered seat area! Excellent family atmosphere! Fun for everyone. Took my family to the "Fan Appreciation" game on 6/26. The park was full of employees and volunteers to help make the experience great. They were all friendly and helpful. Also, the Turtle mascots were a lot of fun for the kids and the beer/concession discounts were excellent. Highly recommend!! read more

Minor league baseball games rule and watching the Daytona Cubs is no exception. Tickets are cheap ($12 for the most expensive "VIP" seats which get you padded, moveable chairs in the first 2 rows from the field and a waitress to bring you booze and concessions), food and booze are cheap ($5.75 for 32oz. of Kona beer -- do you know how big 32oz. is? I had to hold it with 2 hands) and there's lots of on field and off the field entertainment if you have kids that are easily bored. If you choose to sit on the first base side you have more foul ball netting coverage and the general admission seating is stadium style, with backs and seats that flip down. You're also in the direct glare of the setting sun, however. If you choose to sit on the third base side there's less netting and VIP seating (it's a small ballpark, errant foul balls are a legitimate concern. You're closer than you would be than an MLB game) and the general admission seating is just bleacher benches. It's on my definite must-hit list if you're in the area. Easy to find from the highway and parking is close and free. read more

We went on "Thirsty Thursday" where 12 oz. domestic beers are $1.00 and craft beers are $1.50. There are about 10 -12 to choose from. There was a vendor right when we walked in. You can also get the 32 oz for $3.25/$4.00. The park is right on the river and has free parking. Tickets were $7 and allows you to sit anywhere but the first two rows. It came with a program. We sat in the 3rd row right behind home plate. In front of us was the starting pitcher for the next night's game. He autographed my wife's free t-shirt she got from the GM tent. People were very friendly. The woman next to us was in the booster club and gave us all the insight on the players. Food was okay, nothing exceptional. But we did receive a coupon for a free taco at Lime which we used the next day. We had a blast, the only disappointment was the Cubs lost...just like at home here in Chicago. Such a great ballpark with amazing history. Home to the Daytona Cubs, the ballpark is great for families. My kids love to sit in the stands and try to catch foul balls. There's always great games and entertainment. The staff is friendly. The food and drinks are cheap and there's lots to see and do. Parking is free - tickets to the game are cheap and there's always a deal or sponsor night. read more

We're supposed to go there on Sunday May 3rd for some Bright House promotion. I had to contact the ball park regarding handicap parking and seating. On a Saturday at 12 noon you would think they had staff there to answer the telephones, right? WRONG!!!!!!! It is now 4:30pm and after 12 calls (we have a counter on our telephone) I have yet to speak to a single person at this place. I left 8 messages on some answering machine and never heard from anyone. They have only ONE telephone number and its the same listed everywhere. GOD FORBID someone had a family emergency and had to contact someone at the park. IS THAT GOOD BUSINESS practice??? I hope it's worth the hour drive we'll have to make tomorrow and it damn well better be a rip-roaring good time or I'm really going to be pissed. read more

The Jackie Robinson ballpark is filled with a lot of rich history. I really enjoyed it. It brings the movie 42 to life.
