I had the most awful experience at this practice. All the doctors are exceptional. However the front desk receptionist staffs behavior towards me was despicable! As a young lady I felt, intimidated, judged and uncomfortable by these women. Very unprofessional behavior! Hardly the right caliber of staff to be representing this doctor's practice. What a Bad Bad first time experience. I had to cancel my appointment while I was in the office. It was an appointment for my son. They canceled my original appointment because doctor was going out of town so I managed to move my date and accommodate to today's Feb 15,2022. They told me to be there at 3:15pm so I arrived at 2:55pm. I arrived 20 min early to do the paperwork. When I arrived there was only a mother and daughter waiting me and my son. Soon after I noticed 3 more patients arrived. I finished my son's paperwork in 6min. After that 2 people were called inside that arrived after me. I saw that but I didn't mind. It was 3:40 when I saw another patient (that arrived after me ) calling the staff employee and complaining for the waiting ... then I stood up and I asked to cancel my appointment. The lady (staff) had a horrible aptitude even-though I just told her to cancel it. She didn't even apologized .. she interrupted my conversation with the other patient (saying it was because my paperwork) when I was telling her that I arrived at 2:55pm and that I noticed patients were been called before me. To whoever is responsible of this should pay attention of the staff they are making you lose patients (clients ) . thankfully out there are many doctors I will find the one that respects the patients. Dr. Lazarus has an amazing office and staff. I've gone here twice now and seen Dr. Aber and each time I've been there I've been treated like I was a part of Dr. Aber's family. Dr. Aber is very smart and can hone in on your problem quickly and provide multiple solutions to ensure you have multiple options to allow you to pick the right solution for you. The office does get quite busy, so give yourself ample time and also plenty of time on your parking meter. The only parking available is street parking in front, or the garage in West Bay Harbor or the lot between 95th and 96th St. City parking is $1 per hour. Went in to have a wart removed on my 5 year old's finger and it didn't go well. His wart is back less then 5 weeks later and his finger was burnt all around the area. I'm trying to take him to a different doctor to get it removed but he is too scared. It was not a good experience and we paid over $70 for a burnt pinky and a remaining wart. Bummer! read more

We all know how incredibly difficult it is to get a good doctor. Much less a great one. Dr. Lazarus is the bees knees! After countless visits to other doctors with the whole turnstyle, in and out attitude we found her through our insurance. I expected more of the same. That, I did not get. What I got was a caring physician who listened, took her time, and was warm and caring. I cannot say enough good things about her bedside manner. Just excellent. As for my myriad of problems? She was the one who realized that I have severe skin allergies. And here I was walking around itching from head to toe for.. years. Yes, my friends YEARS. Then, she helped with the spotting on my face and some painful varicose veins. This was out of pocket and no, not cheap, but it was effective. My heart broke when the insurance changed and I could no longer go to her PLUS she moved all the way up to Bay Harbor Islands from Coral Gables. I recommend highly. She is the best. read more

Wonderful doctors. Would trust Dr. Abor with my life. She's a perfectionist, very knowledgeable, and really takes care of me. I've been going to this dermatologist office for over 5 years now and I must say the receptionist staff is so messy, unhelpful, and most times rude. They mess up appointments every day and blame the clients for their mistake. I just witness a lady come in, they canceled her appt last minute and never told her, she had her kid and they were just ignoring her and not working with her to make a new appointment. The front staff does not do any justice to the back staff and the doctors. Back there they're all extremely nice and want to make sure you're comfortable at all times. The front receptionist staff needs to get replaced ASAP. read more

I had been seeing another dermatologist for regular skin cancer checks, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to book an appointment with him for non-cosmetic procedures. I was pleasantly surprised that Dr. Lazarus's office was able to schedule me within a week of calling! The office is beautiful, the staff is very friendly and welcoming and Dr. Lazarus has a wonderful manner. She took her time, explained everything in good detail and really made me feel at ease. I see Dr. Lazarus' partner, Dr. Aber. Dr. Aber is a fabulous physician! I have been seeing her for the past few years and I can say she is very thorough when it comes to patient care. Her office staff are very sweet and professional, great customer service! The facility itself is very clean. My only constructive criticism (she still deserves 5 stars) is that because she has a very busy practice, things can run behind and sometimes you will feel like the appointment flashes by quickly BUT that does not mean she compromises on the quality of care. There have been times where I came in for one thing and during that check up she finds something else and takes the time to address this new issue instead of overlooking it or scheduling it for another visit. Being a perfectionist sometimes gets a bad rap, but a perfectionistic dermatologist is worth her weight in gold. Dr. Lazarus and her staff helped me feel at ease and at home, which is a tall order when you're standing nearly naked in front of a stranger being ogled. How do the girls at Wonderland do it every night? "Dr. Laz" performed two procedures on me: one cosmetic (the reason for my visit) and one medical. My favorite moment was when she said, "I don't like the looks of that" as she squinted at a newly-formed mole on my shoulder. I, myself, had just noticed that mole only weeks before. Although that suspicious mole wasn't the main reason for my visit she did what as she described is her "real job" as a doctor, and all is well. I would definitely go back, and most likely will. I've been seeing Dr. Melissa Lazarus diligently for the past decade. Living in Miami where the beating sun is a constant and the threat of skin cancer is ever present, it's critical to do a bi-annual skincare check. Dr. Lazarus is a superb dermatologist. At my appointment last week (scheduled at the incredibly convenient time of 7:00 am, Friday morning - a godsend if you have to go to work afterwards), I was whisked in right away. The front desk staff are always helpful and very efficient. One is also reminded about an upcoming appointment several times in the days ahead - very handy! Dr. Lazarus has a lovely friendly, bright and warm personality. She's chatty, has flawless skin herself and is very knowledgeable. She knows her patients' needs. She asks questions, addresses any concerns and makes the right recommendations. I will be forever grateful when she recommended that I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash years ago because it really was all I needed to keep my skin blemish-free. She could have suggested a multitude of many more expensive products but knew that this inexpensive drugstore item worked just fine. I highly recommend Dr. Lazarus. She takes immense pride in her profession, devotes time to ensuring that her patients are completely satisfied, she is caring and most important, she keeps our skin healthy and cancer-free! Sometimes runs really late so be prepared. Dr Aber does try to make it up to you, but Sometimes it can be a very long wait. I've been coming for a while, and they do do a very good job, it's just the wait can be long, and office staff doesn't advice of what is happening when there is a significant delay. Unprofessional staff. I booked a full body check up for pre-cancerous moles scan and asked the office if I could also use the appointment time to ask questions about cosmetic procedures. They said I could but there would be a fee that could be used towards the procedure itself. I agreed. On the day of, I arrived, signed a paper agreeing with that fee and the assistant calls me in. First thing she said is that I am going to only have a cosmetic consultation because the doctor is too busy that day and falling behind on schedule (although my appointment was right on time). I said "Wait, the skin scan is the MOST important thing I came here to do. I am very busy and had a hard time arranging time around Dr Lazarus schedule." Her answer? A cynical stare at me. Not the slightest apology for their mistake. Then she repeats "I only have you for the cosmetic consultation" looking annoyed. I got up and said "Good bye then" and picked up my purse. As I walked away I said a couple of times "I cannot believe this" and the whole staff stopped to stare at me as if I am crazy. Not one person asked me what was wrong. I didn't get a phone call from their office explaining what happened or asking me how they could address it. Doctors are busy but so do we. They completely disregard your inconvenience. I believe that if I stayed I wouldn't even have seen the doctor but probably just one of her aestheticians, or else she would have scanned me, right? But I never received a follow up call. Took 30 mins to see me. Spent less than 5 mins with me. Didn't tell me anything I didn't know already and paid 125 for that. Disappointed

I was referred to Dr Lazarus by a friend for cosmetic procedures. My first visit for a chemical peeling I waited for an hour to be seen. The Dr performed the peeling and asked to come back for a follow up. The peeling went ok, as it would with ANY other dermatologist professional. What I didn't like is that she charged me again for the follow up visit, when I have already paid for the peeling itself. If should cover the cost of the follow up visit, that;s what most health professional do. I went back for other services, but this time non-cosmetic. A month ago I went for a peeling - paid for that - and asked her about a spots and of course she took out her price menu and started checking for the question I had. It's like going to Mc Donalds, for every question you have - even the most irrelevant - she will charge you. She gave a prescription which didn't work and when I called the office, the staff said I have to schedule another appointment and of course pay again. She is "A-OK" in terms of her knowledge. But certainly nothing out of this world. It's plenty of good dermatologists here in Miami. And the main reason I am dropping out of her practice, is pretty much the same that goes on with health practitioners - that all she cares about is cashing in the $$$$. I want a doctor that is more concerned about my health and well being - or at least pretend that. read more

(Based on a personal family knowledge of dermatologists.....unrelated to Dr. Lazarus, and in a different state.) Dr. Lazarus has gone way above and beyond, to the point of returning an international call for help on a Saturday night! (Twice, when we didn't pick up on her first attempt!) Dr. Lazarus and her team are as professional as it gets. I never wait longer than 10 minutes for my appointment and I am seen quickly and attentively. The whole entire staff is very friendly and Dr Lazarus is extremely knowledgeable about her field. Not thrilled at all. Yes, she is cautious...a bit too much sometimes. I had something removed and was never given instructions on how to care for it. Obviously I knew the basics but not that I couldn't work out before 10 days. We are talking a small incision with about 8 little stitches. Stitches pulled etc and I was told they should have told me. Additionally, I left a pair of very good prescription sunglasses in the room and went back before even leaving the office and they were gone. No one seemed to figure it out and no one was in the room after me. No one cared. Not a fan...didn't go back. read more

I went to Dr. Lazarus' office for a hydrofacial, which I have done before at other places and have never had a reaction to. The aesthetician, Nilo, performed the facial for me. Before beginning, I emphasized to Nilo how sensitive my skin is and I expected - as a professional - she would take my warning seriously. Everything was fine during but once Nilo was done, I was surprised to see that I had huge patches of red, exposed skin on my cheeks. I didn't want to complain because I figured maybe I just needed to give my skin some time to heal even though I have never experienced that kind of a reaction before. I paid $150 and left. A few hours later, the redness got worse and more pronounced on both sides of my face. It was sore and I was beginning to worry that the patches could become permanent scars. I called the office to express my concern and they brushed me off, told me to wait and that it would heal within a few days. In the evening, my face got worse. The patches were more painful and the redness had not subsided at all. This morning, they were the same if not worse. I called the office again to express my concern. When I told the staff that my face was so bad that I was embarrassed to leave my home they laughed and told me to "put cover-up on it." With that kind of a disrespectful response, I rightfully asked for my payment back. They told me they don't offer refunds. I am extremely disappointed with the entire experience I've had with Dr. Lazarus and her staff. I've been to dozens of dermatologist offices and had numerous facials done over the years and I have never had such a horrible experience. As professionals, I expect them to express some sort of empathy for my concern over my skin - ESEPCIALLY when I emphasized my skin's sensitivity and my own sensitivities about its appearance. As someone who is currently in PA school, I am well aware of the amount of training doctors and medical staff go through in order to learn to make their patients feel confident and comfortable with the care they are about to receive. Additionally, I find it important to note that my mother is an aesthetician and I'm well aware that this kind of a reaction is not normal (before anyone wonders why I didn't go to her, she lives in Virginia.) Needless to say, I will never be returning to Dr. Lazarus' office and I will ensure that none of my friends or family go there so t hat they don't experience this sort of lack of professionalism. read more

My loyalty, trust, and faith lie in one, and only one dermatologist, Dr. Lazarus. Through the years I had been referred (by friends) to (and used) many different "top rated" dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons in the Miami/Broward area for treatment of a wide variety of dermatological issues. I had been content with most of those doctors until (years ago) I happened upon Dr. Lazarus' newly opened practice in Bay Harbour. Since my first appointment some 10+ years ago, I have relied solely on Dr. Lazarus as my one and only dermatologist. I have relied on her expertise, knowledge, and initiative to remove, correct, treat; as well as, and most importantly her artistic eye to enhance. Her friendly, compassionate "bedside" manner is obvious from the moment she enters the exam room; greeting you with a warm, compassionate, genuine smile. She listens intently to my complaints (dermatological issues) and suggests the best, most appropriate procedure, even to the point of being conservative (with regards to treatments) if she felt a treatment I might have inquired about wasn't necessary, or wouldn't provide me the results I had been hoping for. As a result, I have been continually and consistently pleased with the results she has been able to achieve (for me over the years) through recommended treatments and procedures, that I have complete trust in her ability, professionalism, attention to detail and her genuine knowledge of me as a person; so much so that the first words out of my mouth when she walks in to the exam room are always, "ok, so what do you think"? The office and exam rooms are extremely clean, neat and well organized. Her staff have always been courteous, professional, competent, and also seem to take a personal interest (even recognizing me personally by my first name when calling in to make an appointment over the phone) in making sure my visit is a pleasant one; as well as going the extra mile to try and arrange appointments to fit my schedule. I highly recommend, have referred and will continue to recommend and refer friends and family to Dr. Lazarus as I consider her "one of the best in the business"! read more

I showed up early for my first appointment so I could fill out the paperwork and be seen on time. I waited for 45 minutes before deciding to go ask how much longer I would need to wait. Was told there were still 3 patients ahead of me and the doctor was running behind. This news was delivered in a way that made me feel pretty certain it was not an unusual situation. Time management is just as important as competency in your practice. Don't go here unless you like having your time wasted. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Lazarus for about 5 years, for both general derm and aesthetics. The patient experience I've received has always been top notch. Appointment follow up has been appropriate, the staff has been friendly, and most importantly, the doctor has been very professional. I've since moved outside the area, but plan at least 1-2 trips per year to South FL for an annual skin check and injectables. Not a pleasant experience. Made an appointment online through I guess a third party they use. The appointment was supposed to be for both of my children. When I arrived they told me only one appointment was booked. I explained to the girl it must have been an issue with the booking site they use and her response was too bad...we will only see one child today. Spoke then to the office manager who was just plain rude and did not accept any responsibility for the appointment error. She even said o well its not our fault it theirs. Your not responsible for a service you pay for to do your online booking? Dont use a subpar service and this wouldnt be an issue. Still she refused to see my son. After that my appointment was at 2:30 which I arrived for on time but didnt get called back until 3:30. Only reason they are receiving 2 stars is because the doctor herself was at least kind and apologetic to the situation. The rest of the staff I would rate them negative. read more

I made an appointment with Dr Lazarus based on good online reviews. My first skin check with her went well, but the second year was something else entirely. I signed in when I arrived, but nobody behind the window bothered to open the window and check the roster. I sat there for a half an hour past my appointment time, then went and knocked on the window to see how much longer I'd have to wait. The girl behind the window reacted with complete surprise that I was there, even though I had an appointment and signed in. Dr. Lazarus did a skin exam, and gave me botox on my forehead for the first time. I could tell very soon that something was wrong, as I couldn't move my forehead at all. Friends and family started asking if I was tired, or worried, as my eyebrows had slumped a little due to the botox. I had had botox before with my dermatologist in another city, and had never had this problem. I made another appointment to see her about it, and she told me there was nothing to be done but wait for the botox to wear off. At this appointment, I had to ask her staff for the results of a skin biopsy she had done, which turned out to be abnormal. It turned out they had the report for four days without contacting me, and I had the feeling they wouldn't have contacted me if I hadn't asked about the report. When I asked why it took four days for them to give me the results, Dr. Lazarus snapped, "well, it's not like you have cancer or anything." Dr. Lazarus had also prescribed some strong hydrocortisone cream, which her staff, in calling it in to the pharmacy, put the decimal point in the wrong place, and I ended up with 10 tubes of prescription-strength hydrocortisone. The final straw in terms of her skills as a dermatologist is her own face. Although she is a fairly young woman, she clearly has had stuff done. Not my kind of dermatologist. Happily, I've found another one who is very good. read more
