This place sucks ass, and is over priced. $2.50 for a Coke. Yeah. I had a hot date here... a girl I've been sweet on for 15 years asked me to meet her here and she'd buy lunch.... it was her idea... out of the blue. So I rushed down there, looked around, didn't see her anywhere, and the waiter/waitress directed me to sit at the bar, and I bought a Coke. I told them I was there waiting to meet someone. I waited an hour and they didn't show. Only they did show. They were sitting in some other booth waiting on me, the same time I was waiting on them. The place was pretty much empty, but the the daft fucking waitresses who had nothing to do were totally oblivious to it. One of them had her iphone 5g parked next to the cash register, and I asked her if I could borrow it to send a Yahoo Message. She declined. She asked me if I needed a phone, and I said no, I need internet access. What iphone 5g doesn't have a data plan? I left heart broken. Later back home, the girl sent me a picture of the Pizza box she had taken with her phone to prove she was there, and I sent back a picture of the Mellow Mushroom to-go cup. We had both been there all alone, waiting both for the same hour, probably not 30 feet away from each other. If the place had been busy or packed, yeah, I wouldn't expect them to have time to notice. But it wasn't. It was pretty much empty. The waitresses just stood around being bored. I sat right next to the big mushroom right out in the open, so its not like I was hiding; it was pretty obvious I was waiting on someone, and they kept giving me weird looks for sitting at the counter, which is where they told me to sit. This is your typical mellow mushroom. Food was great and server was nice. I did find out she was on probation for dope, but I digress. Atmosphere is on point with what you would expect. Watched most of the all-star game until we were pushed out at closing. Overall I'd go back. read more

When I was a child, in the midst of my parents' Great Disagreement, my father took me out for my older brother's birthday party at a Mellow Mushroom in Sandy Springs. It was next door to a tattoo shop, and it seemed as if many of said employees were moonlighting in the pizza shop. They were thoroughly tat-tat-tatted up, but served up a memorable pie that got me through late-night munchies and awkward family gatherings alike. Whenever I think of Mellow Mushroom, I am reminded of a counterculture pizza shop that apocryphally would serve you truly "mellow" mushrooms on your pizza by special request. I've never had the male-parts to make such a request. But it grants them extra cool-factor. Mellow Mushroom is all over the state, and their pizza is NOT the same from store to store. But in a town where the SUV's roam and where Dominoes wins "Best of Augusta" for their extra-cheezey-triple-stuffed $5 sugarpie, I don't expect much culinary sophistication. So Mellow Mushroom is a gem. Their service is great, but its the pizza dammit, its the pizza that will steal your heart. I love oil (pronounced earl), especially EVOO, so I go with all things Pesto. So my go-to pie is the Kosmic Karma, which has lots o' pesto and veggies. The dough at mellow mushroom is something I've attempted, unsuccessfully, to mimic in my home kitchen. It is soft and thick, just the way I like 'em, and that is what you will remember when you walk out holding your engorged stomach and your guilty conscious over the disgusting amount of pizza you just ate: that was some dang good crust, sucka! So go for the beer (great selection), go for the gigantic plastic mushroom, go for the greek salad for-craps-sake, but stay for the pizza crust, because it will blow your mind, in a mellow sorta way, bra. read more

Mellow mushroom is one of those places that does a decent job with its stores. They give you the college pizza vibe with the concrete floors and open kitchen. The pizza is good as well. The booths are large and the layout is alright. Service is adequate in that its nothing special. The pizza's are a bit pricey for what you get. Medium pizza will run you 20 bucks and its not like you will have it jam packed with toppings. We had the magical mystery tour with sausage added. There were 5 pieces of portabella mushroom and there was sausage there but just a few crumbles. There was almost no pesto sauce so the pizza felt a bit dry. Don't get me wrong. The pizza tasted good but not 20 dollar good. We go there during happy hour so draft was $3 which is reasonable but be aware that non happy hour prices seem a bit steep. So pizza decent and beer is cold with an ok beer selection. Overall they lose 2 stars because they are pricey, the place is loud, the bench seats in the booth are uncomfortable, and I don't like the statues they have in the place, it just gives me flashbacks to chuckee cheese. read more

I never enjoyed the food here but the service was always decent and my friends love Mellow so I come here occasionally. The last time I came here I had the worst restaurant experience one could get. I came here on a Saturday night with some friends. I ordered a margarita and one of their pizzas. After about twenty minutes everyone had gotten their drinks but me. So I asked the waiter about it and he said he forgot to put it in. He came back a little later with it. Then pretty soon everyone got their food but me so I waited. I know that they make everything really fresh so I was patient. Then the waiter started bringing everyone's checks since it was close to closing time. I asked him if my pizza was still coming and he said he was sorry and he completely forgot to put the order in. So I ended up eating some pizza crust for dinner that night from my friend's leftovers. He didn't even comp the two drinks that I had to ask for from my order. He also gave us attitude when my friend pointed out that he never brought out their appetizer that they asked for a couple times. This is the worst customer service I have ever received and I will not be coming back here. The least they could've done was comped the drinks or had a manager apologize or something. read more

On the particular occasion, I ordered the Magic Mushroom Soup to-go. When I arrived home, the soup bowl had MAYBE 4 spoonfuls of soup. Had dinner last night, love the new decor, brilliant idea to remove the raised booths beside the windows. Food was usual pretty good quality even though it does seem like the recipes have been tweaked, had my usual Jerk Chicken sub. Service was not up to usual standards, servers name was John. If we needed something we had to ask another waitress for it or him. He just wasn't there, it seemed like he had more important things to do in the back of the restaurant. Food seemed to take an extremely long time, meal took ~2.5 hours and we left right after we finished eating, we saw John once and had to ask about our food and it really wasn't busy, half the tables were empty. He left to find it and it seemed he was gone 15 minutes before he came back. It would really be nice if there were pizza slices on the childrens menu also.
