We chose the build your own pizza, large size with one half of the pizza being pepperoni, ground beef and black olives, with the other half being mushrooms, banana peppers, and black olives. We chose the thin crust option. The toppings were plentiful but I don't believe they were evenly distributed. Also, for a thin crust pizza, I found this pizza was a little thicker than what I am used to for a thin crust pizza. I would describe it as more of a hand tossed style pizza than a thin crust pizza. It was pretty good though and larger than I had anticipated for two people. The delivery was prompt and the delivery person left it in front of our hotel restaurant as requested. I give this establishment a solid 3 1/2 stars. If I ordered again, I would opt for a medium sized considering this was probably too much for two people. Recommended! read more

It was Friday night and I was all put together after leaving a visitation. I was sad and didn't feel like going home yet. I thought where can I go and sit at the bar by myself and feel comfortable. I remembered how friendly the bartenders are at MELLOW MUSHROOM. The host wasn't real encouraging that I could find a seat but he was wrong. I was craving spinach artichoke dip and a Moscow mule. Both were absolutely delicious. The female bartender greeted me immediately and introduced herself. The couple next to me were new in town and we immediately struck up a conversation. I absolutely did not feel alone. I will never doubt myself again about going there and enjoying myself. But geez, I really loved this place, especially coming from the Mellow Mushroom homeland--Atlanta, GA. All the servers were super friendly and seemed happy to be there (very un-Atlanta-like) and the patrons were equally pleasant and sweet to be around (also incredibly un-Atlanta-like). The pizza was great as Mellow pizza generally is, and the whole time they had a live band playing blue grass in the corner. Took awhile to come out, but that's par for the course with Mellow. Mellow Mushroom Bowling Green is Mellow #11 on my quest to review all the world's Mellow Mushrooms. My first outside of Georgia or Texas! My brother and I stopped at this Kentucky Mellow on the way home from Indiana. We'd just spent two nights in the Hoosier State, and wished to reclaim some of the joy that Indiana took from us. We stumbled into the Mellow at 8:00pm and nearly tripped over an amplifier. "Huh???" Upon looking up we saw the source: A live six-piece bluegrass band was jamming right there in the dining room. The only thing that'd complete the stereotype were if the diners were all drinking Mountain Dew. A quick scan of the tables confirmed at least a few neon green beverages. My brother and I were snapped out of our amazement by the hostess, who had the sweet disposition of those National Park squirrels that eat out of humans' hands. Our server had the same attitude. I got the impression that wait staff are treated better in Bowling Green than in Atlanta. We sat down for our food and got our medium Funky Q pizza in 29 minutes and 50 seconds. A little longer than average but completely understandable since the dining room was PACKED. Most folks order pizza take-out these days, so it was refreshing to have that bustling in-person family dining feel. Brought me right back to the early-2000s. I've rated 11 Mellows in three states, and this is my favorite so far! read more

Like the Paducah restaurant, this one was large and lofty, as if an auto-service center had been a former incarnation of the space. Sunday lunchtime was BUSY! Our group was seated within ten minutes. Then, after ordering, it took something like 30 minutes for food to arrive. But the food was worth the wait. The gluten-free diners enjoyed their pizzas, and wheat-eater me liked the Pacific Rim very much. I especially appreciated the 5-oz. pours, which allowed me to sample beers inexpensively. My family and I got Mellow mushroom and it was very good, I had never had it before and it definitely meet my expectations. We like trying unique places rather than chain restaurants. We were in Bowling Green for one night and decided to try the Mellow Mushroom. It's billed as the best pizza in town. It is a converted old garage. Even before going in it is unique with some creative statues near the door. The decor inside was also interesting with a giant mushroom spanning the ceiling and a guitar mural over the kitchen. We went on Sunday evening and it was busy but there was no wait. Many of the servers looked to be college students from the nearby school. We asked our server if Sunday night was sangria night (we saw that on their website). She said no but she would check to be sure. She came back and said it was sangria night, $6.00 a glass instead of the usual $7.50. We ordered two. It was good but not great. The menu is mainly pizza with some sandwiches and appetizers. We had the pretzel bites that came with a beer cheese dipping sauce. They were great. We also ordered two house salads and their house pizza with the classic crust. The drinks took a while to come out and the pizza took even longer. We thought the salads would come out before the pizza. When the pizza showed up, we asked about the salads. They forgot to bring them out, so they hustled to get them and gave us 25% off the salads. They were good and the pizza was especially good. The crust was tender and the toppings were spot on. Overall the decor was interesting but it was noisy. There was a very loud child nearby that the parents just laughed at rather than trying to quiet down. The food was very good but the service not so much. It was worth a visit but probably wouldn't be my regular hangout if I lived locally. read more

I used to visit the locations in Tennessee, and then when I moved to Louisville there was a location there, and soon a second location, and I frequented both of those. Sadly, they both closed in the past year, so I don't get to have it often. So, recently when I visited Bowling Green I decided to go to Mellow Mushroom for lunch. It was just as good as I remember. I opted for salted pretzels and beer cheese and it was delicious! The location was cute, like all Mellow Mushroom locations are, and it apperaed clean and orderly. The staff was helpful and friendly. I placed my order online and walked over to pick it up. It was quick, and my food was hot and fresh.
