They pulled some of the pepperoncinis off and added pepperonis.
    Nick H.

I ordered a pepperoni pizza, and they brought me a pepperoncini (those little pickled green peppers) pizza instead. The waitress didn't even set it down before she realized the mistake. She asked if I was fine with it, and I said no because I really don't like those kinds of peppers, especially on pizza. They decided to pull like 75% of them off, and add pepperonis. Those peppers leave that flavor on it. Worst pizza I have ever had. The service is slow too. If I'm paying for a simple pepperoni and black olive pizza, it shouldn't taste like pickled peppers. Avoid this place.

Howdy folks. How's everyone on Planet Yelp doing? Well, I'm not quite sure how to even begin this…read morereview as I wasn't even sure if the place that I'm going to write about even existed anymore. I'm talking about the good ol' American country roadside bar. So put on your helmets and strap on your safety belts cuz we're about to blast off and head into the deep south. I was actually in Tennessee visiting a friend of mine, fellow 1st Amendment Activist Silent Citizen. For whatever reason we decided to drive to Kentucky and ended up in a little town called Scottsville. Unbeknownst to us, we were actually in a dry county. So unable to find a bar there, we headed back towards Tennessee and that's when we discovered the Sugar Grove Tavern in Westermoreland. If we hadn't of been paying attention we probably would have missed it. It's located just a little more than a minute beyond the state line and I ain't joking when I say that this is about as backwoods and rednecky as it gets. So let me tell you all about it right now. From the outside the Sugar Grove Tavern reminded me of that biker bar in Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure. That's the scene where Pee Wee Herman entertains this motorcycle gang by dancing to the song "Tequila." That's exactly what this place reminded me of. Although I didn't have any plans of doing any dancing here. The first thing I noticed when walking inside was an array of Confederate flags hanging from the ceiling. See I told you this place was rednecky. That really didn't bother me. After all, I was a huge fan of the television show The Dukes Of Hazzard growing up. So if you can be a fan of the TV show where the main characters drive a car called the General Lee that sports a Confederate flag painted on the roof, then who really cares. I mean after all, we ain't in Yankeeland anymore. So Silent Citizen and I walk up to the bar where we are greeted by the bartender. She wasn't Daisy Duke. But she was a nice country gal none the less. I planned on going with my usual, which is a margarita on the rocks. But unfortunately I was informed that they don't serve hard liquor in this place. Oh darn it. I guess no margaritas for Nasty Nathanial tonight. So I ended up going with the next best thing. A Seagram's Escape Pina Colada flavor. What a manly drink. After paying for a drinks, we decide to go outside and admire the scenery. We ended up making friends with some of the locals, which included a dog named Bruce, who were hanging out on this cool Friday night. That's when I knew that I had really landed my rear on another planet. Everything from the way these local country boys talked to the things that they were talking about, was so different and foreign to me. But I don't mean that in a bad way. They were all super nice and welcoming and treated us as if we were one of the good ol' boys. One of them was this heavyset guy with a hat and a beard who reminded me of Cooter from The Dukes Of Hazzard. Yes I loved watching that show. But this guy really did remind me of Cooter. He was going on about all the women he gets which I had my doubts about. But hey, it's not like I've been on a roll in the men's department lately if you know what I mean. Wink, wink. So what do I know? At one point, I started to mention something to my friend about my latest flame, Silence Boy 1st Amendment. That's when he had to quickly remind me that if we were going to be talking about those kind of things, we would probably have to get step to steppin' soon. I decided to take my friends advice and put Silence Boy back in the closet of my mind. But eventually we would have to get to steppin' and get back on the road. I was almost kind of sad to leave. I know some of you reading this may think that I'm being facetious. But I really did dig this place. Even though it was backwards and rednecky, the people here really did seem genuinely happy and seeing that brought me back to a different point in my life. At least in my mind. That, or maybe it was the Seagrams. Well, I don't think so. Those things aren't that strong. So I think I'm going to wrap this review up by saying that if you ever find yourself in Westermoreland, Tennessee and want to have you a cold one before you hit that dry county across the state line, I suggest you check out the Sugar Grove Tavern. You won't be disappointed. If you are, then get to steppin' over to Kid Rick's overpriced crappy bar in Nashville. Until next time, may the country be country and the bar serve margaritas. I had a grilled shrimp taco, which was very fresh. My date had a beef fajita burrito, which was enormous and also delicious. The beef was very tender. They served complementary chips and salsa. The salsa was super fresh and very well seasoned. The poor server was running his butt off. It looked like they were understaffed. But I'd go back in a second!

On our visit, we had to wait far too long for basic things like drink refills, napkins, and chips and salsa. To top it off, our server literally threw the bill on the table and said, "have a nice day." This wasn't our first visit, which made the experience even more surprising. Hoping it was just a bad day, we came back the very next day for lunch. That's when things got worse. We were told that as repeat customers, we were "taking advantage" of the chips and salsa and were limited to three bowls--even when dining with a group and spending over $150 on a meal. When we spoke to the manager, he dismissed our concerns and even commented that my husband eats too much salsa. That was honestly one of the most unprofessional responses I've ever heard. Great food, but the service and attitude toward loyal customers are extremely disappointing.
