My spouse and I visited Mellow Mushroom at 53 Pine Island Rd. in Cape Coral on Friday 6/26 arriving at approximately 6:30 p.m. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from start to finish. When we arrived, there was no one at the hostess stand. The hostess came over quickly, and we requested a booth for two. However, there were no clean booths available, so she had to get a server from the back to clean one before we could be seated. After we were seated, she took our drink order: one glass of wine and a double vodka served neat. When my drink arrived, it looked much smaller than a double. I questioned it, and she took it back to the bar. Although she returned saying the bartender insisted it was a double, it definitely appeared that more vodka had been added before it was brought back. The condition of the tableware was also concerning. The white plates were heavily scratched, and there was visible dirt embedded in the scratches. We ordered a large pepperoni and mushroom pizza along with a side salad. After one slice each, we had no desire to continue. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate the pizza a 1. The dough was clearly over-proofed, extremely flat, hard to cut, and had the texture and taste of cardboard. It was one of the most disappointing pizzas we've had. Although the dining room wasn't busy, the bar area was very loud and noisy, making it difficult to enjoy the meal. There were only five or six occupied tables and booths, so the noise level was unexpected. I also used the men's restroom. While the restroom itself appeared generally clean, the urinal was filthy, which left another poor impression. I also have two pictures that show some of the issues we encountered. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. Based on the food quality, cleanliness concerns, and overall service, I would not recommend this location unless there are significant improvements in management and attention to detail. Stopped by Mellow mushroom on a weekday afternoon. You walk in and wow the vibe is colorful and vibrant. It wasn't very busy at the time but we had Alicia who was an attentive , very nice , and fun server/bartender. We viewed the menu and decided to go with the super pepperoni pizza which was just delicious we had to come back a second time and have it again. It hit the spot followed with some ice cold beer! Having visited other Mellow locations, including those near Daniels Pkwy and FGCU, we decided to try this one during our visit to the area. My usual order is the Mighty Meaty, while my wife prefers the Pineapple and Ham. My only suggestion is to distribute the meat evenly across the pizza. But overall we enjoyed our pizzas! Our waitress, Crystal, was pleasant and provided excellent service. This comment is for the management. Not sure how you can prevent the fruit flys, but from the time we sat down until we left , those little buggers were definitely putting a damper on our meal and visit. I had to cover up our pizzas and drinks so they wouldn't fly on our food and drinks. read more

We ordered 2 pizzas to go, from Mellow Mushroom. We used to go to their location in Rocky River, Ohio. And we curious to see how the Cape Coral Location was. We were happy to find out that Cape Coral is every bit as good. We ordered our favorite Holy Shiitake and the Pacific Rim. We have yet to find any other pizza place that offers anything as good as the Holy Shiitake!!! The mushrooms on this are delicious!!! Both pizzas were so great! I walked through the restaurant to get to their Take Out counter. The restaurant was clean and bright. All staff I encountered were very friendly!We love this place. We normally go to the MM on Daniels. We were disappointed in this location. Menu was different and so is the bacon! Ordered the club sandwich: very little chicken, dry and what bacon there was raw and Smokey. My husband's never came and when asked they had put it in as a pizza and not salad. Finally arrived after we had all eaten. Service was pleasant but slow. Disappointing. Please note, we were not comped anything! The credit was for the wrong order that had been put in. Something else server took drunks for refills and came back and gave to wrong people. It used to be law that glasses couldn't be refilled? The Mrs and I decided to try this new location. We waited till they had a week under their belt after their grand opening. The place itself is really nice but an open concept. The brand new Mellow Mushroom on Pine Island opened recently so it was a natural "let's try it." My wife, two friends and I found the restaurant style appealing, we're seated quickly and we were happy to have a great server, Daisy. And from there things turn south. The Bar and kitchen service timing, not due to the server, was completely unorganized. Our table ordered drinks...two cokes, a water and a gin and tonic. By the time the gin and tonic arrived, the others had consumed their drinks. Daisy gave the bar my order for a "tall G&T" meaning in a tall glass. The bar delivered a "short" drink. There was a huge staff present. At one point, as I waited for my drink, I saw FIVE workers behind the bar. Not sure why that many. The dinner order included a small pizza, two burgers, one with additional RAW onions, each with tater tots, and a steak and cheese hoagie with BURNED onions (I can't consume raw onions). The pizza arrived first and fifteen minutes later the burgers arrived. About 20 minutes after the pizza was delivered I got my hoagie. PROBLEM. The burger had COOKED onions. PROBLEM. The hoagie had RAW onions and bunch of them. Another 10 minutes or more went by until I got the hoagie back and I had Daisy box it up...everyone else was done eating and I honestly just wanted to leave. Note to the MANAGER and the kitchen...there is NO reason for ONE table to have four meals delivered at three different times and with 50% of the orders wrong. Tip for the cook...One table, one ticket, one serve. I got the impression that only one "type" of meal was being made at a time. Bake pizza. Then make the burgers, then build the hoagie. The server asked us rather quickly if we wanted a Togo box. Then the lights over our table went off. When we asked, the server stated that they do that to let you know we're about to close. The manager came by asking if we were enjoying our meal. We replied we didn't feel welcome as our lights had been shutoff within minutes of being served. She told us that the lights were on a timer and out of their control. But they were the only lights in the building that went off. She then tried telling us that because "it's the slow season" they have been closing early. Tried the Mellow Mushroom for the first time, sorry to say I was greatly disappointed. I placed my order at 5:43pm on line. I live .3 miles from the restaurant , pickup time 6:51pm. Was at the restaurant at 6:44 pm. Then drove directly home, took under 5 minutes. Opened the boxes with the calzones only to find them not hot, not warm but cold, I thought they forgot to put them in the oven., and the inside being barely room temperature. Ordered one cheesesteak calzone with green peppers and onions. The calzone was like a big roll sliced opened and all the ingredients pushed to the center and back fold of the bread. At one point it may have been hot because the cheese was melted but the veggies were not cooked. The ends of the calzone (2 inches or more) were empty of ingredients. Very disappointed in this calzone. The second calzone was a pepperoni, sad to say this was also cold with the center being the only place there was filling and the sides or ends were empty. Apparently, they do not know how to make or assemble a calzone, cheese and meat is supposed to be evenly distributed throughout the calzone not just the center. My husband and I were very disappointed and displeased with meal that cost us $39.94 with a mandatory tip of $3.44 for putting cold food in a box. I wish I could give half a star because a full star is too much ! Not sure I will venture into another on line order or restaurant visit after this experience. My suggestion is to visit a local small pizzeria if you want good food that arrives hot! read more

I have been going to Mellow Mushroom since 1977 so I am pretty familiar with their product. It has been a consistent food product for years regardless of what location you eat at and that is also the case for the new location in Cape Coral. The pizza was amazing as always. I would say the large enlightened spinach salad was smaller than other locations. What they did lose a star over was little things but annoying things. The other locations give you two containers of dressing for a large salad. The cape coral location charged me for another dressing. We also get the same pizza and replace one ingredient on the pizza (pepperoni instead of chicken) This location charged me 4.00 for an extra ingredient. I pointed out to the waitress that this was not an extra ingredient but a replacement. She told me there was no button for that. I am sure some of this was growing pains. The wait was over an hour and there were many empty tables so staffing might be part of the problem. read more

Well I waited an hour to sit and then another hour for food. Well, wish I ever got my food anyway. This place has poor management and multiple employees are slacking off and were told multiple times that our food would be right out. Cut to 30 minutes later still no food. We had a party of 5 and they struggled to even get us waters. A lot of yapping with the servers and their work friends. We left and dropped some money on the table for our drinks. And then we went to somewhere competent... rib city and were served instantly and actually taken care of. Take your business elsewhere if you're thinking about trying this poorly managed location. We absolutely love our Mellow Mushroom! The attention to detail and consistency was noticed. We came three days in one week for drinks and had three different bartenders who were great and all the drinks tasted the same. I can appreciate finding a good drink and having it taste the same no matter who makes it. The training that took place did not go unnoticed.
