Loved that there are multiple veggie options, they even allow half half pizzas to try different combos. Pizza was fresh and flavors were great The restaurant is loud but energetic. We brought our infant and she did wonderfully in the space. Our waiter checked on us multiple times and was great overall. Will def be back!

We went to Mellow Mushroom with a large work group, and everything was fantastic. The staff handled our big party smoothly -- service was quick, friendly, and well-organized. The chicken wings were perfectly cooked and flavorful, and the basil tomato pizza was fresh, cheesy, and packed with great taste. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food, and the relaxed atmosphere made it an easy place to unwind after work. Definitely a spot I'd recommend for both group outings and casual dinners.

Totally jealous I don't have a Mellow Mushroom near my home in Miami, FL. This place is a trippy, dope vibe with a large variety of pizzas (and more). My pizza was delicious!

Had a very positive experience dining at Mellow Mushroom when our son visited. When we ordered he told the server he had a gluten allergy, to which the server replied, "thank you so much for letting me know." The restaurant offers a gluten free crust and there are several pre-selected topping combos from the menu (Kosmic Karma, for example) that can be prepared "certified gluten free." Or, you can choose from their list of gluten free toppings and build your own pizza. On their website they note that they use gloves, aprons and a special prep area for their gluten free offerings. Much appreciated! Our son ordered the Mighty Meaty and found it to be quite tasty. I ordered a holiday drink, the Merry Mule, which included cranberry syrup, house made lime syrup, and Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, and it was festive and delicious. My Great White Pizza was tasty along with the smaller size Enlightened Spinach Salad. My husband got a calzone, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Great food and service, no complaints. We were hungry so only got a pic of my drink! Cheers!

We ordered it to go through DoorDash. We were staying at the Marriot so it was a short walk. We ordered a build your own gluten free pizza and a build your own regular crust pineapple, ham, and red pepper pizza. They tasted pretty good. The restaurant was very helpful and prompt about getting us our food in a timely manner. I will say that sometimes else was in the elevator and the smell made me and my wife want it. It was a good choice!

We've talked about visiting Mellow Mushroom for a while now. Since my wife and I were both off work for the Labor Day weekend, we decided to chose a restaurant in downtown Winston. We found street parking in the area and were actually initially headed to another restaurant/bar. We approached the intersection where Mellow Mushroom is located and decided to stop in. The interior decor and feel reminds us a lot of Kaleidoscope Pizzeria & Pub in Medford, Oregon, which we absolutely love and haven't been to in several years. Kaleidoscope has a Grateful Dead theme which also includes a lot of tie dye. The interior of Mellow Mushroom is similar in many ways and is fun and welcoming. We were seated promptly, provided menus and offered drinks. As we perused the menu and did some research we were surprised to learn they were founded in 1974 in Atlanta, and have approximately 200 locations throughout the US, primarily in the Southeast. Our server brought our drinks and we asked him for his recommendations and inquired about the size of the pizza's. He was friendly and helpful and gave us a few more minutes to make our selections. Upon his return, we placed our orders. My wife was being good and decided to try one of their salads. I knew I had to try one of their pizza's and was debating between the 10 inch and the 14 inch because I was confident that I wanted to have leftovers. In the end, my wife chose the Enlightened Spinach Salad with grilled chicken and I ordered the 10 inch Mighty Meaty with extra sauce. My wife used the restroom while we waited and confirmed that it was clean and well stocked. Our meals arrived in a timely fashion and looked incredible. We were very impressed. We both enjoyed the experience and food. We kept commenting about the similarities to Kaleidoscope. We also liked the street side of their dining area which allows the doors to open to the sidewalk area and provides an outdoor sidewalk dining experience along 4th Street. It was a good experience, however, I am a pizza connoisseur and although this was good pizza, I would not consider it great. However, we saw other items such as the calzone and various sandwiches and they looked delicious. My wife also really enjoyed her salad and we want to come back and try additional items on the menu, we would also like to visit some of their other locations as well.

LOVE the theme here, and my favorite pizza is, you guessed it, MUSHROOM! Enjoy coming here on busy nights, feels like a college town hangout somehow and keeps me young!

Very cool spot downtown, with seriously fun vibes, good food, great drinks & service, and awesome artwork on the walls. Had a Guinness, a small great white, 4/20 pizza bites (w/beer cheese) & a medium chicken Q (BBQ pizza). Crust was awesome. Highly recommended. (Guinness is over chilled, but 'tiz a minor flaw.)

Food was more than decent - I had a half salad that was fresh and tasty with decent dressing and lots of veggies. I also got a small cheese pizza which I took home half home. Tasted best when hot. Not any identifiable type of pizza but good. Not much is open downtown on Mondays so a good option on a Monday night

I hadn't been here since the pandemic. We stopped in on a whim for a pizza party. We tried 4 small specialty pizzas cause we couldn't decide. We loved the shiitake mushroom pizza - like the best thing ever. Vibe was same as before, pizza was good, service was good. Park on side street around corner. Walk down street after for a cookie from Camino bakery. Try a specialty pizza - be brave.

Most amazingly people just smiled. Smiled when they greeted us at the door and all the way throughout the meal. Beer was good and the Sausagefest Calzone was good.

They had more on the menu than I expected, from smash burgers, to buttermilk fried chicken to, obviously, poke bowls. I built my own bowl, and was very happy with the result. Everything tasted fresh and very flavorful. My only small gripe was that I could tell the pineapple was not fresh and obviously canned. The jalapenos were fresh sliced and added a bit of heat, which is perfect. I feel like this is one of those places I could come back multiple times and get different combinations of things in the menu.

It began as a poke bowl place but has since added everything from rice and noodle bowls to burgers and hot dogs to sandwiches and wings. It hasn't gone full Cowfish (yet), but trying to offer so much is a risky proposition. And yet, if my visit was anything to go by, the eclecticism didn't come at the cost of execution. I popped in shortly before noon on a Saturday to find the restaurant mostly empty (though patrons were pouring in when I was ready to leave). It's definitely a casual space - counter service with disposable bowls - albeit more colorful - and a decent bit costlier -- than a fast food joint. I was nearly set on building my own poke bowl when I spotted a cold noodle section of the menu. Peanut salad noodles with shrimp sounded too good to pass up. My food came quickly, and it hit the spot. The peanut sauce had a spicy kick, the cabbage and peanuts offered a satisfying crunch, and the shrimp were cooked well. I had lowered my expectations based on the atmosphere, but I shouldn't have: this dish would have held up at a more upscale place. With so expansive a menu, I don't know if That Place in the West End can keep up the quality across the board, but I would gladly return to this place for more noodles. Or a poke bowl. Or a burger. Or fried chicken. Or...

It's a small space - a few tables inside and a few tables out - but don't let that or the line you are likely to encounter deter you. They crank out sandwiches quickly here. Said sandwiches include about two dozen hot and cold offerings as well as the ability to build your own. The meats are Boar's Head, but the desserts and soups are made fresh in-house. Check out the display case for salads and sides that might catch your eye. O'Brien's prides itself on its Reuben, and so I went with the "mini" version (a quarter rather than a half pound of meat) with a pickle for my first visit here. Ordering at the register was a breeze, and I was fortunate enough to snag one of the tables for dine-in. Though I was a bit skeptical that the Reuben would match the hype, it delivered. I don't know that it is without a doubt the best version I've had, but it is definitely up there. The grilled rye was nice and crisp, and I appreciated that they used both mustard and Russian dressing. That, plus the meat, kraut, and melty cheese, made for a very satisfying bite. At $10, the sandwich proved a good value, too. Unpretentious and nostalgically comforting (for Northern transplants, at least), O'Brien's is a well-oiled sandwich-slinging machine. Though that Reuben will be hard to top, I look forward to giving one of their other offerings (maybe a Cuban, maybe a Spicy Italian) a try.

On this visit, I was again picking up several items for a small family group. We chose fully loaded containers from the salad bar, a bow of chili, and a full sized Reuben sandwich. Once home, we split the items up for all to enjoy - nothing disappointed! This was a first try with the chili, and it was quite nice - plenty of well seasoned ground beef, no beans or onions, but was well topped with cheddar cheese! The Reuben contained 8 ounces of hot, tasty corned beef, great cheese, plenty of kraut, marble rye, and lots of 1000 Island Dressing. It was cut into the required pieces, and the additional dressing was shared - a bit messy but delicious in total.
