I love thrifting and my favorite kind of thrift store is a church store. Thrifty Treasures is…read moreoperated by the First United Church of Hollywood. The thrift store is located on the side of the property. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 9 to 2. Thrifty Treasures has a small section of clothing. I was most interested in their bric-à-brac section which contained some vintage items. More expensive items were kept in a glass cabinet near the check out. They even had a few pieces of furniture. A side room contains children clothing, books, and toys. I ended up picking up some building magnets for the kids at school for only $4. Which leads me to why I love church thrift stores so much, they are always willing to bargain. Everything in the store was very reasonably priced and you can always make your own price suggestions. This isn't a huge thrift store but it was really fun to explore. They had some unique things and of course the inventory will always change depending on what people donate. You can support a worthy cause, find a treasure, and help the planet by keeping items out of the landfill all by thrifting. Come and check them out.

Parking is a bit of a challenge as it's limited to the outer edge of the store. People double park on the side street, so if you've parked there your car would be blocked in. The store is located in a mixed use area. That being said, you'd think that the prices of their merchandise would reflect the needs of the community. Instead, prices were higher here than at any other Salvation Army we've ever been in. In fact, in some cases, prices were close to the full retail of new items. We did not buy anything here. And we would not recommend your going out of your way to come here.

A group of volunteers from the Davie Community church run this thrift shop. They take donations…read morearound the back. Everyone is helpful and hard working. They keep the prices low and their inventory changed from week to week. I've dropped off bags a few times and I've found some nice crystal vases while looking around. They really care for the poor in the area as they have a food bank on Friday's. They give free bread at the thrift shop on Saturday. Then they have a service on Sunday where they have a meal together and invite the homeless to join them.

The Mustard Seed Thrift Store is a ministry outreach of the Davie United Methodist Church. You can find it in a small building to the left of the church. The Mustard Seed Thrift Shop is open every Saturday 9 AM to 1 PM. The thrift store is staffed with church volunteers and they take donations while the store is open. They accept and sell gently used clothing, children's toys and clothes, and small household items. Prices are very in expensive, clothing is only a dollar for an example and the church provides clothing vouchers for those in need if they contact the church office. I saw some interesting glass items, some of which may have been vintage. Patient church volunteers were giving a math lesson to some children buying toys. Although on the small side, this is a cute, welcoming store and the prices can't be beat. There are also several other thrift stores in the area so you can add the Mustard Seed to a thrifting circuit in Davie.
