And to even make me more excited to do business with Julian's Fountain of Treasures Thrift Store, it's none profit in support of LGBTQ+ youth who now, in this time of pandemic, need all the help they can get. When I entered the store, I was given a warm greeting by Julian, himself, and a member of his staff. Right away, I felt that these were people I'd like to do business with and to support their efforts on behalf of LGBTQ+ youth. The store is small but full of really nice top end items at more than bargain prices. I purchased a really nice polo style shirt that appeared new and would easily retail for $150.00 for a mere $18.00. As Julian's Fountain of Treasures Thrift Store has such an enviable clothing selection at such bargain prices, staffed with such friendly people and supporting such a good cause, it's a solid Yelp Five Stars in my book.

It's tiny, but arranged so you can walk between the racks. If you didn't know it, you might think it was a boutique. All the clothes look freshly cleaned and pressed on hangers. Because it benefits an admirable cause for LBTQ youth, I really would have liked to buy something here. Prices are not inexpensive -- although there was a $5 sale rack outside. However, many of the shirts (including all the Hawaiian patterned ones) are manly designer brands. Unfortunately, we didn't see anything my husband liked. In the other hand, we had a nice chat with the man that was there who told us about the collective across the street -- and that that store benefits the same charity.

Quality clothes!! Another reason was that I wanted to get tested but unfortunately, they were closed on Sundays which was disappointing since the website said they opened till 6pm. Regardless I drove to Ft Laud, got my test and why did I not leave? I ended up buying shoes, brand new cups for my drinks that I can carry to work, a wooden chopping board, Christmas decorations, and vintage signs. I had a ball. I'm inspired to declutter some more because I know my small contribution is going to a good cause versus dropping it off at a regular thrift store. The staff was super nice. I mean super!! Even when I got tested, the person took the time to go over so many things I didn't know and was very much educated on, and will be visiting the following Sunday to discuss. There's such a stigma around HIV, getting tested, and talking about these in my community but these are real issues that need to be spoken about openly. I'm so appreciative of this organization and will only be donating to the closet.

Today was a thrift shop hunt with some light eats in Fort Lauderdale. The name "Out of the Closet"…read moreis a metaphor or idiom, it's one of them but really not sure which. The thrift shop has a wide open floor plan with low racks for easy navigation through the inventory. Plenty of gently used clothing with corner displays of household goods. I found an incredible skulls and roses 2X collar shirt for only $12.00, but of course it was manufactured in China and my arms could not push through the sleeves - this is a common issue for me. Good supply of Halloween ornaments and Pride costumes. All items are priced very reasonably. The shop offers a clinic for free HIV testing including a full service pharmacy. The thrift shop is a non-profit business and all proceeds go toward AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

We bought a bedroom set, electric fireplace/mantle, assorted chairs and tables. We were looking for Victorian style furniture and they had it. The bedroom set was pre-owned but they promised to get rid of all the scrapes, etc. They did an amazing job! The owner is from NY and a bit brusque at times, but he delivered our furniture when he promised and the pieces all looked great. If you are looking for that style of furniture, this is a good place to check out.

They are located in a street mall, which will be destroyed, and in the same location will be two five-story buildings (the City of Oakland Park is approving the construction). So, they will have to move. The place is loaded with old folks' stuff. It seems to me seniors bring a lot of stuff for them to sell. Very small place stuffed with too many things. You barely can walk inside. I do not recommend this place. First, they are unfriendly; second, they are rude; and third, the energy inside is very negative. This place gave me the creeps! Finally, too little space packed with too many things that should be thrown in the garbage. I wish I could give no stars!

The items were then given to the people who worked on them or were resold. Goodwill's philosophy is "a hand up, not a hand out." Goodwill Industries of Central Florida started in 1959. Today Goodwill has become a $5 billion nonprofit organization that provides job training, employment, and community programs for people who have disabilities that might prevent them from getting a job on their own. This Goodwill Superstore is located on Oakland Park Boulevard. While still selling bargain thrift, the superstores have innovative and trendy displays. They also have more contemporary designs and modern display fixtures designed to raise the bar in the thrift market. The Oakland Park Goodwill store is attractively arranged. Clothes and new items are in the front of the store. As you move towards the back of the store there is furniture and home goods. A smaller area in the back is a bibliophiles paradise with a large selection of books. Thrifting is enjoying a resurgence as a cool hobby. There are a ton of Instagram videos showing how you can have a business thrifting or how to style and transform thrifted items. A can of spray paint can give just about any item new life. I really love thrifting at this large, clean, and well organized Goodwill. I have been coming here for years and it keeps getting better and better. Goodwill has even added new items to complete their thrift inventory. Right now they have a ton of holiday decor and clothing. If you need an inexpensive ugly sweater for a holiday party, there is a great selection here. Not only can you find a unique bargain but you are repurposing items and keeping them out of the landfill while helping the community through your purchase at the same time.

The parking lot had recently been redone, but when I tried to leave, my bumper was ripped off due to an elevated yellow bumper with exposed metal bars. I spoke with the manager, Doris Lopenza, and the police filed a report (#12-2607-XXXX). Ms. Lopenza assured me that someone from headquarters would contact me to address the issue and determine how they would help repair my bumper. The light on the passenger side was also ripped off, and the bottom of the bumper is completely detached. Unfortunately, no one has reached out to me, which seems to be a pattern with Goodwill. Mind-blowing!
