It's not too large and I can see on nice weekends how crowded it would be. Luckily for us it was just cold enough that it was just the friends for the party. There was a covered basketball court with adults playing, a tennis court with a couple of courts, a decent sized playground with a good amount of physical challenges. Parking was easy and even the far parking wasn't too bad. Overall a great playground and we would consider coming back except we try out a new playground each time we do go to a playground. Nonetheless, it's a great spot for a stroll and we're lucky to have such easy access to this place. Super simple parking as it's surrounded by residential streets on all sides. There were some muddy areas along the trails despite the fact that it had not recently rained in a while. The park is located in the middle of the neighborhood and there is plenty of street parking nearby. Estimated length of time to explore the park: 30 min - 1 hour The park itself is a 20-acre forested area with a ground blanketed by fallen leaves and old oak and pine trees. The park features windy trails that cross paths with each other multiple times. If the park was larger, it might be easy to get lost. However, since you can see the streets surrounding the park through the trees it's no problem keeping your orientation. Even with the streets nearby and the soft sounds of cars driving by in the background, the forest felt relaxing and quiet. We absolutely loved the self-guided Wireless Wilderness audio tour provided by the park. There are multiple signs posted throughout the park with a phone number to call and a stop number to dial to learn about the ecology of the park. There are 16 stops that we found while wandering around. Overall, this park is definitely worth a visit!

I FINALLY made good on making a stop my first day of Spring Break. I dragged out of bed really late Saturday morning when I decided to make a walk here...like 9 am...didnt get myself together until 11 to drive to the park which was less than 10 minutes away. From the freeway, less than 2 minutes and youre there! I do believe the local YMCA is housed here and the parking lot was available for visitors to park there, but I will probably park at the makeshift roadway at the west side of the park...just because its closer to the walking trail. I was quite impressed that the walking trails were walkable!!! Concrete smooth and not covered with water, so they've invested in a good drainage system to keep this park usable. If I had kids, I would definetly bring them here! Lots of playgrounds of various sizes and varieties. They have your typical treehouses and even a boat! They even feature gym like equipment to get your work out on (just no weight can be added--its all your body weight). Nice addition to combine some strength training with some cardio in one stop. The field area is a little small, but depending on what youre playing, it could work. On this particular Saturday, parents were gathered around to have their little ones play little league baseball (It was the cutest thing to see the kiddies in their uniforms and helmets running the bases). They had set up tents to stay cool as the weather got hot and were having tons of fun. Made me smile. There were some guys playing basketball on the court as well. No problems or arguments there either. For the 45 minutes I was taking my walk I saw and heard no issues and felt safe the entire time I was there. Of course, I wouldnt come at night by myself, but Ive been to parks in the daytime and felt unsafe, so always trust your intuition. Mine didnt go off at all and wished I had gotten up earlier to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Nice neighborhood park to take your family, get a nice leisurely walk in, or make some serious exercise strides if you live nearby.

I honestly have nothing negative to say about this park. Its always clean, no matter what time I come its clean!! I noticed they have a small vented in the middle of the park where folks can have gatherings and such occasions ... This is a pretty big park might I say... I believe they play soccer there daily. There are lots of nice big trees to provide shade and the grass is sticker free. It's quite picturesque on it's own, well taken care of, clean, and most things are in good condition. Sure you'll get your occassional bum or two hanging out in close quarters, and yes the guy hanging around the pavillion did get arrested when I was there on Wednesday, but hey, that just means it's well patrolled and as long as you are minding your own business and with a couple other people, this place is great! I haven't been through much of the other parts of the park but I can spot a large water "park" area with the water that shoots out of the ground and there is a running trail that would be vicious to attempt any earlier than about 7:00 during this time of year. This park really gets going around 6:00 pm, people even bring out lawn chairs to watch the volleyball action. That does mean parking can be a bit hecktic but there is a Fudruckers Northwest of the park that is safer to park at. I guess I give it four stars for the safety factor, but that can be attributed to the overall area that you are in. I had flashbacks to DARE when I had to shag the ball a couple times and run barefoot through the grass - I was pretty sure I had and elevated chance of getting a used drug needle in my foot. But no worries, all is well :) This park is a diamond in the rough for sure!

Within the green spaces is a walkway up a dome kinda reminded me of McGovern Centennial Gardens. Sneakers and I stopped here when we were returning from Downtown and headed North. Sneakers had just returned from the sitter and he needed to poop bad. I found this park on a whim of searching for another off of Hirsch Rd. This park is located in a very sketchy neighborhood and what I mean by sketchy is if you take one wrong turn like I did, the locals give you sketchy "you're not from around here" looks. Despite from the park being decent, the general area may not be the safest. As Sneakers and I were walking, we often heard gunshots from the neighboring residential area. It spooked Sneakers so he walked quicker than usual. So if you decide to walk here, bring headphones. Also, if you are concerned about your safety. The walking trail has cameras in each area. If Sneakers wasn't so scared about the gunshots, we would have walked longer. The community center in the evening hosts exercise classes for the elderly. There's a basketball court and skatepark onsite. The park rules says service animals only. I didn't know that prior to coming so we accidentally broke one rule. I didn't see anyone else with their dogs out and assumed that they all had cats at home. There was poop bags in different areas throughout the trail. The trail is pretty vast and covers a lot of land. There's another shorter trail leading from the second parking lot. The park is in-between two freeways: Hardy Toll and 69. I have no idea if there's restrooms on site; there may be some inside the community center. If I return, it'll be in the daytime to avoid hearing the random shooting of a gun if I'm ever in this area during the day.

Don't get butt hurt if you lose a disc on this whole. You may just find another as you continue to play. The course has benches throughout and shade along the way. After the front 10 the shaded spots are fewer. It's a great meeting spot for the group I play with.

White Oak Bayou Trail You might see trash flying or lying around this park and the pool looks like someone might've drowned in it. Never seen anyone use the pool before (weird). Also no portable or working restrooms nearby as one reviewer pointed out. Such a shame. Since the White Oak trail is next to my home, I find myself jogging/running through here a few times. As much as I like the view at times, this park leaves more to be desired. A lower rating would be in store but the disc golfing and dog friendly environment make up for it.
