my 12 yo granddaughter had a tooth pulled. she was very nervous but the staff went above and beyond to it her at ease. my granddaughter has severe social anxiety so the anesthesiologist had other staff leave the room and i was invited to stay while she went to sleep. my granddaughter was given the choice about using an IV or mask to go to sleep. the care and respect the entire staff showed us was amazing! thank you all for being so kind!! read more

I was referred to Dr. Lackey by Future of Dentistry and I really like working with her and her staff! Everyone is fantastic - the Hygienists, the x-ray technicians, and the desk staff! I got my wisdom teeth out here and had an A+ experience. I'm going back for a follow-up next week to make sure everything heals as well as possible - tiny mouth, huge, impacted wisdom teeth. The procedure was a piece of cake and the recovery is not bad at all. If I ever had a question, they would tell me quickly over the phone. I would definitely refer friends and family here and come back if I need anything else done in the future. read more

Agree with Patty and Jimmy, find another place. The surgeons are amazing (Loved Dr. Lackey), but their desk and billing staff are horrible. The snarky and rude rolling of eyes and interrupting remarks when I requested a treatment visit estimates summary; At the consultation visit (for wisdom teeth extraction), the front desk worker wanted me to just sign a paper for scheduling a surgery for over $7,000 without any further information. I was explicit and adamant on not scheduling or signing to that total estimate without a breakdown, to which I got many snarky responses and rude remarks pushing me to (actual sighs, interruptions, something like "so you are not going to schedule now? It's not going to change, this is the total cost regardless"). I caught them in several lies too, since I was adamant about going over each detail and having any sneakily attempted add-ons for billings or agreements in writing. When I spoke with my insurance (medical and dental) with the treatment plan codes, the out-of0-pocket cost for me would be lower if I billed my medical first. So I call the office, and they just interrupt me constantly, saying they can't do anything because they sent a claim to my insurance and No, they can't and won't speak to my insurance, they will only fill out the online claim they have as a provider, yada yada. So I call and request that I 3-way call with my insurance, and she sighed dramatically with an "Ugh" and then promptly hung up on me. So I 3-way called, and the representative got it fixed. But when I went in the day of surgery, they of course try to bill me for the full amount upfront, to which I refuse to pay until they confirm with my insurance (I even had the claim note number from my insurance for them). Even after this all, a month after, I get a surprise bill for $226 from an *out-of-network* provider for a tissue exam they sent out without my consent and without any notice. read more

Dr. Lackey was fantastic! I was so nervous to have a wisdom tooth removed and she has such a great bedside manner. She is so gentle I barely felt the novacain and she had that tooth out in 5 minutes! Never had any pain or swelling after and didnt even need to take Tylenol. Her assistant was also fantastic, wish I got her name. She made me feel so comfortable. Let me just start this off by saying this is a great place to go for wisdom removal... easy procedure... you're in and out with no complications. However, staff is terrible. Horrible customer service, Terribly disorganized, and hardly ever answer the phone. I went here almost 3 years ago... to this day they have yet to resolve an issue THEY had with my dental insurance. I get letters in the mail every other week asking for a payment they should have billed my insurance for. How do I know this? I've called them about 10 times over the course of this 3 year period. Finally got them to make sense of the situation by taking imitative and forcing them into a three way phone call between them and my old insurance. (Staff was heard huffing and puffing and talking to a colleague saying "I don't wanna deal with this") My insurance clearly told them it's an issue they should have had resolved and told them what steps to take. Since then, the letters have not stopped which clearly means the staff have still refused to take the appropriate steps.. I call and no answer. Very frustrating and so Unprofessional! read more

Dr. Melissa Lackey is awesome! I had two teeth extracted in two separate surgeries last year by Dr. Lackey. Both times I opted for local anesthesia only, and I'm glad I did. Dr. Lackey was quick, efficient, practically pain-free, and, best of all, very empathetic and understanding of a patient's nervousness. Her surgical staff were equally efficient and empathetic, despite my nervous tears. I had a great experience here just last week. I needed to have my last 2 wisdom teeth removed, and I'm definitely glad I went here. They initially schedule you a consult to meet with the doctor, take full x-rays to evaluate the teeth you need removed, and discuss anesthesia options. The day of the procedure went smooth and without any issues. They were also very accomodating with the fact that I cannot handle any sort of venipuncture, and gave me an inhalent anesthetic before placing an IV. This is HUGE for me because I'm sweating right now thinking about a needle in my arm. They sent me home with plenty of antibiotics & antiinflammatories (something my old dentist did NOT when I had my other 2 wisdom teeth extracted), and even called to see how I was doing later that day. Thus far, I have had minimal swelling and virtually no issues. I would definitely recommend them. read more

I was super satisfied with my experience at this oral surgery office. The staff was nice and helpful. Dr. Lackey and her dental hygienists/assistants were efficient and helpful in answering any questions I had during the consultation and before my extraction procedure. I agree with Patty, they charged me $75 to get my own records, after they were previously paid for by my insurance company. Dr. Lackey in my initial visit, seemed very friendly and professional. She actually talked me out of getting a few teeth extracted. But I caught her office people in a few lies. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau about that $75 charge, I was misled and deceived by Dr. Lackey's office help. read more

I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at once and it was a piece of cake. I decided to be under general anesthesia since I was anxious about the procedure, and it was a breeze. The anesthesiologist was very kind. Being someone who is scared of needles, the IV placement was a piece of cake because the anesthesiologist works quickly as long as you let her. Woke up about 20 minutes later and the procedure was over. I had minimal to no pain and swelling (which I expected to have!) the day of and after the removal. I only took ibuprofen as prescribed and I was pain-free and without any complications after the procedure. I couldn't have asked for a better experience getting my wisdom teeth removed thanks to the staff at melrose Wakefield oral surgery! read more

The staff and Dr Lackey were extremely supportive, kind, reassuring, informative and all the while maintained a highly professional manner. I had to have an implant and was naturally nervous but they were so reassuring that I remained calm during the whole procedure and was treated with understanding from start to finish. I highly recommend Dr Lackey and her assistants. In addition, her office staff was also warm, friendly and concerned for me as the patient. They maintained an extremely high level of assistance to keep informed of my scheduled appointments and would double check to makes sure I received messages. Had a great experience! I had to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed and was extremely nervous. They set an appointment before the surgery so that the doctor could explain to me the procedure and options that I could take, as well as any questions that I may have. Then I went in for my surgery and the procedure went very well and was quicker then expected. The team was extremely friendly and professional, it made my experience even better. I can honestly say that my experience with the wonderful folks at Melrose Wakefield Oral Surgery was quite pleasant. I had two impacted wisdom teeth and a broken molar removed under sedation. There was no pain at all, even the IV needle didn't hurt. I am normally terrified of dental work, the mere thought conjures up images of the medieval iron chair of torture, (I am also terrified of needles), but the two doctors; Nicola the Anesthesiologist, and Melissa the Oral Surgeon were very professional, and made sure that I was relaxed and comfortable. All of the other staff were very professional as well. I even received a follow up call a few hours after the procedure to make sure that I was alright.
