I took a glance at the cocktail menu but since I was going to be driving a little bit later I decided to stick with water. We both ended up ordering the crispy chicken sandwich, but she had the side of fries and I ordered a side salad. The chicken was definitely crispy and had a blue cheese sauce on it. A friend a I came her in the middle of the day in the middle of the week while waiting for a car inspection to finish. We had SUCH a blast. We sat in the back house part off the parking lot, I chose a spot directly in the sun and was so happy. I sat in the sun in on a clean wooden bench next to potted plants and just ate it up. We got drinks that I LOVED but have completely forgotten the name, but it was a seasonal St German bubbly one with a floral garnish. We split a side of fries (crispy, salty, tasty) with sides of ketchup and aioli, and just had a great time. Met up with some local friends that love this place and it didn't disappoint. We sampled some local beers as well as the Oktoberfest sampler. Great find in Beacon! We were excited to dig into some good gastropub food after a disappointing experience at the Vinyl Room. Personally, I was ready to eat a live cow by this point, but our server suggested the burger instead which was a good compromise. Seating was a little tight and since we hadn't reserved a table beforehand, they tried to seat us as this little overflow table by the bathroom and kitchen which they were using to unload deliveries and fold napkins. Luckily there were empty seats at the bar which we were able to move to instead. Our food and drinks were pretty solid. The burger is pretty darn flavorful and decadent - my only qualm was they made it medium-well instead of medium-rare - and we also got a salad, Brussels sprouts, and a few beers to wash it down. Also the smoky old fashioned (smoked with real wood and a blow torch!) seems to be a big hit. Service was not bad considering how many people were there on a weekend evening, all the food came within 20 minutes. Prices are a little on the high side, ($21 burger, $24 chicken sandwich, about $10 per beer - inflation sucks!), but overall it's worth it! read more

If you know me on this platform, you know I don't drink beer because I despise the taste. But, where there's food and cocktails, I'm in. From Stout to Lagers, Amber ales and more, Melzingah on Main St in Beacon, NY has a craft beer menu showcasing mostly(?) Northeast beers and some from Chicago, Cincinnati, etc. This is my husband's type of place and was all over it. Melzingah was the perfect spot after wrapping up with an errand north of here in Woodstock. This met hubs' love for craft beer and my love for a great cocktail menu that not only sounds good on paper, but (hopefully) tastes great as well. Outdoor dining wasn't part of our plan- especially since we came here on a whim and didn't know they required a rsvn- so we were led outside to their patio. Regardless of the chilly weather on a Sunday in June, my husband and I enjoyed the warm and cozy al fresco vibe these folks are pulling off with the heated upright lamps (they did the job!), lots of picnic bench tables and some plants and flowers around. Our server was our go-to guy for popular dishes, beer for hubs and cocktails for me. My 'Shortcake' cocktail sounded great on paper but it tasted just like it's called and didn't make my jaw drop. Hubs enjoy all 3 of his different types of beer. Except, when you're dining outside, beer is served in plastic cups¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Hubs was ticked off by this and didn't enjoy the whole experience whatsoever because he was expecting each of his beers to be poured in a specific glass to bring out the flavors in each of his selection. Food ranked way better in my opinion. Melzingah's popular 'Pretzel Bites' (more like rods) were incredible- but so was our spread Trio of Whipped Feta, Lemony Hummus and Tzatziki. My Crispy Red Snapper was fantastic and hubs enjoyed his 1/2 chicken leg+thigh dish. Service was nice and so was the Indie music in the background. Wow!! The cheese and pretzel bites are a MUST and my chicken sandwich was so tasty. Great brewery feel to this place and we enjoyed everything we ordered. On our way back from the city, we stopped in Beacon after taking the train before our drive back to Albany. The location across from the falls is beautiful. Beacon has a great Main Street with good food and drink. This place should be the first stop on your tour. The building is rustic and industrial. Our bartender, Victoria, was very good. Constantly checking on us and thoroughly courteous. We ordered an American Pale Ale and a Sour for beers. Food was Delicious with a capital D! Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts and Mussels with Sausage from the Appetizer menu. Both were so good. We asked for more baguette to soak up that amazing mussels broth. So GOOD! Would we come back? Hell yeah! Came here with a group of friends, we made reservations to ensure a table. Because otherwise there can be long wait times. I ordered the kale Cesar salad with chicken, now the flavor of it was really good I didn't however like that the kale still had big chunks of the stem. Which isn't the biggest deal but it would've been more enjoyable for me to have had the kale prepared better. It's not a huge restaurant but a good size, our waiter was attentive and gave good service start to finish. I stopped into this establishment for the first time during the beacon food crawl. First of all, the mac & cheese that they were serving outside was fantastic! Top notch! Love the garlic croutons! I had to go in and have some cocktails. The margarita that the bartender baby was perfectly crafted, and the bartender took a lot of pride in recommending drinks and making them for us. La Vida coco was an exceptional choice with a nice muddled jalapeño after kick and a refreshing pineapple coconutty flavor. We got the cheese board which was good but I wish the waiter explained the cheese because we were unsure what we were eating. The food here was phenomenal. However, the star of the show for me was the margaritas... possibly one of the best I have ever had. I don't drink often and rarely crave a drink. We were able to get a 7:30pm reservation on a Saturday night even though we called last minute, which was great! Their outdoor seating is in their back lot, it's walled in with heaters and there's lots of light - it's basically another building. Service was so lovely - very warm, personal, and timely. Our waitress asked us to put in our apps and entrees at the same time to make it easier on the kitchen staff, which made sense given how busy it was. She took our drink order and by the time she came back we were ready to place our food orders, it was the perfect amount of time to decide :) Apps came out first and when we were finished our entrees came out. Food was absolutely delicious with large portions. After dinner we were asked if we'd like to see the desert menu, our waitress recommended the hazelnut cake and it did not disappoint. First time , but not last. Melzingah is a lovely restaurant among the many in Beacon. Everyone was super accommodating and helpful. Our lovely waitress Sam was professional and very attentive with a great smile. We had three appetizers and the truffle fries. Mussels and sausage came pipping hot, delicious leek sausage, white wine butter and three slices of toasted baguette to dunk into it. Red ( huge) Shrimp Scampi, also in a delicious sauce. A very delicious tasty mushroom flatbread. Truffle fries were yummy! So full but we had to have desert. Yummy Carrot Cake with a copious crean cheese topping. I had the pleasure of dining at Melzingah Tap House after a long day of hiking in and around Beacon. The staff were incredibly accommodating and attentive throughout the entire meal. Ambiance left nothing to be desired, even though it was decently crowded for a Wednesday night we had no issue getting a table for two without a reservation. We started with the pretzel appetizer and they were great along with the sauce they came with. Friend got the pork chop and was a big fan. I went with the chicken and dumplings and was pleasantly surprised as it was not what I expected but nonetheless really good. Draft selection was great and we got to try a couple of local brews that were excellent including a local mead. All in all, I would definitely stop back the next time I am in Beacon and would move to try more of the menu. read more

Not so spicy it was hard to eat but a nice little kick! - Warm Brussel Spout Salad: On my way to the Taphouse I stopped by a soda/soap store where the owner recommedned we get the brussel sprout salad and it was the best thing we had! It is deep fried brussel sprouts with bacon, blue cheese, in a vinegrette. The sprouts were so crispy, crunchy & thoroughly caramelized - and was a great sweet base for the high salt & fat of the bacon & blue cheese & the vinegrette perfectly balanced out the mix. I feel like I can taste it now and am actively salivating - would defnitely consider it a must try! - Crispy Chicken Sandwich: Was good but honestly not special/memorable in any way. The pork belly as delicious, perfectly crisp but juicy and the combination with the blue cheese and sweet raisins was fantastic. We also had the steak...it was delicious, came with crisp potatoes that were just perfect. The mussels, sausage and fries is a must. The first time I went to Melzingah I sat outside and ordered a chicken burger. The experience was literally forgettable. Do not do this! The second time I went to Melzingah I sat inside -- which is much more relaxing -- and ordered some real food. First out was the cantaloupe gazpacho, a culinary revelation that I will absolutely order again. Don't overlook it! Second was the kale salad, which is admittedly a little basic but Melzingah just nails it. If you're thinking "well, I could make a kale salad at home" -- don't fool yourself. It wouldn't come close. Finally we had the branzino, which was a little bland for my taste but my dining partner loved it. Our server was warm, attentive, and patient, all of which was really appreciated. Melzingah is one of the best restaurants in Beacon. My final bit of advice is to go on the off hours when it's less crowded, which makes for a much more pleasant atmosphere. read more

Since our first few times, we've tried additional menu offerings, and gone for dinner in addition to brunch, and have never been disappointed. Strongly encourage you to have an opportunity to eat the patatas bravas, either as a side or an appetizer (they are quite filling).
