I found the car online and it was reasonably priced, a little lower than similar vehicles at other dealers. Justin, who was relatively new at the time, was the salesman. We went for a test drive, then headed into the office to review the car history and sign the paperwork. The atmosphere was casual, no pressure. Justin attempted to answer my questions, what he didn't know, another salesman, Tony, helped with. The manager/owner also came out and discussed how they get and vet cars. We purchased a car for our College aged son back in May 2024. We have purchased several cars in from other dealers but decided to give Member Car a try. We took the car back to member car for A/C service three weeks after we brought it. It appears that the A/C issues that we had with the vehicle (That were not corrected) led to other issues such as coolant leak into the #3 cylinder (head gasket issues) which caused the turbo issue. Our son returned to school Richmond, VA four weeks later and alerted us that the car would not go above 20 miles per hour. We had him take the car to the shop in Richmond, and they alerted us that both the fuel injectors and the turbo have gone bad on the car. We found an outstanding shop in Richmond that diagnosed the issues that the car dealer should have noticed. Cylinder 2 and cylinder 3 misfire codes. The shop performed cylinder air fuel ratio test and vehicle failed due to cylinder 4 running too rich. Based on this the engine is more than likely leaning out the vehicle which is causing cylinders 1,2 and 3 to misfire. Cylinder 4 injector has gone bad. Due to condition of vehicle misfiring they did not test drive vehicle but performed cylinder air fuel test at idle. After replacing injectors and running vehicle we found noise coming from engine area. Narrowed noise down to a bad or failing waste gate on turbo. With waste gate unplugged the noise is not present. The shop took off the inlet pipe going into the turbo to confirm that the turbo compressor wheel does have lots of shaft play and does not spin well at all which confirms the turbo itself is bad causing the lack in power while trying to accelerate The shop looked the vehicle over and only found that the A/C condenser has a spot where it looks like it may be leaking some but the A/C was cold The shop found that find head gasket is blown, by doing a coolant pressure test and pretty quickly the test lost pressure, they found water in cylinder #3. The vehicle needed a head gasket replacement, turbocharger replacement including the fuel injectors. WE HAD TO PAY $5000 AND WE JUST BROUGHT THE CAR FOR $15000. WE TRIED TO CALL THE OWNER AND HE IGNORED OUR CALLS, THEN ALL OF A SUDDENHE GOT COVID. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM MEMBER CAR. read more

I purchased a 2017 Audi Q7 from MemberCar on July 2, 2025, with 79,091 miles. Around 3,100-3,200 miles after the purchase, the vehicle began developing more noticeable mechanical issues. Before that point, I had basic routine maintenance done to rule out simple causes, and the symptoms were very minor, so I didn't suspect anything serious. Over time, the symptoms worsened, so I brought the vehicle to three locations Jiffy Lube, Meineke, and finally Audi Rockville. Audi's diagnostic showed internal transmission failure and coolant contamination. Earlier diagnostics also noted a loose transmission fill plug and contaminated transmission fluid. I returned to MemberCar with the diagnostic results, but I was told they could not assist me. This review reflects only my personal experience with this purchase. Purchased a 2014 Cadillac SRX. When test driving had a rubbing sound in the steering wheel column. Rob, the sales manager said he would schedule a time to bring it back and fix the issue. Brought is back to the shop about 2 weeks later, after also finding a leak to the rear windshield fluid line that was leaking on my feet under the steering wheel. Membercar had my car for 5 days, fixed the leak but broke the line going to the front windshield fluid, still leaking on my feet. Never fixed the steering issue and now no one will return my calls. The salesman knew nothing of the car. He knew nothing of the paperwork process. He tried to charge me a different rate than what we had agreed to and he tried to get me to sign the paper at the higher rate, but I read everything he put in front of me And then he wasn't going to give me copies of the entire contract and then a week later after telling me that this electric vehicle qualified for a $4000 rebate that it does not qualify for he forgets some paperwork and then I get a single text message. No phone call no follow up saying that they screwed up the paperwork and then I owe more money for registering an electric vehicle. If you're going to sell cars, you really should have people that understand and can demonstrate and offer to go on a test drive, and then actually know the paperwork required for the state of Maryland. I will be following up with the Better Business Bureau and the department of motor vehicles over the glaring mistakes and lies that we were told. read more

The folks at MemberCar are the complete opposite of conventional used car salesman - these guys were honest, straightforward, no hassle, personable, low stress, no pressure, and their cars actually are what they say they are. Imagine my surprise at finding a used car dealership where they didn't try to pull the wool over my eyes with a cosmetically dressed-up junker car! The staff at MemberCar treated me with respect even before my husband arrived, which unfortunately is rare in the car world. They didn't act squirrelly about our wanting to get it checked out. They were completely confident that the car was in as good shape as they claimed, which it was. They also stayed late two nights in a row to accommodate my husband's work schedule, the first night when we came in to check out and test drive the vehicle, and the second night when we'd made the decision to purchase it. Here's a cautionary tale. About 20 minutes after they encouraged a 5-star review while I was still in their office, in which I wrote, "Great experience. Super car. John was great. Highly recommend it!", I drove my long-coveted 2004 Audi Avante to the Shell station about 100 yds away to fill up for my trip back to Virginia. When I restarted the car, the check engine appeared, so I returned to their office. When asked, the head mechanic said he knew exactly what it was, a communication module linked to the camshaft sensor. He said he hadn't had success getting the part in. So, MemberCar had allowed their mechanic to clear the codes and let the car go to the customer with a known problem. When I told John, who can shovel "it" with the best of them, he acted surprised and said he'd send someone concierge-style to get my car and bring it to their shop for repair once they were able to source the part. It's now approaching a month and after one failed attempt by them to schedule a pickup (their driver never showed up) I haven't heard from them. I sent them a message to give them a chance to respond and correct the wrong, but after a week I received no response. Only at that point did I choose to update this review. The car remains unlicensed and on light-use duty until the "check-engine" light is resolved. As I have not heard from them and have the growing feeling they never intended to right the wrong, I will be scheduling the repair through my long-time mechanic shop in Sterling. And, as a final note to MemberCar, I will update this review if they reach out and address the problem. MemberCar has some beautiful cars in their inventory, but all I've seen is a lack of willingness to stand by their promises. Buyer beware. read more

I purchased a vehicle from MemberCar on 2/25/20 with GAP insurance coverage for which I paid $800 for. I sold the vehicle on 1/25/2021 and contacted MemberCar on 5/25/2021 and requested a GAP cancellation form which I filled out and returned with all requested documentation on 5/26/2021. Since that time I have not received my GAP refund and I have called several times and each time I call I am told that they will look into it and get back to me. As of 9/28/2021 I have received no refund and no contact from MemberCar regarding my refund for the cancelled GAP insurance. As far as I am concerned this business has no integrity and can not be trusted as they have blatantly refused to refund my money. I was contacted by the owner David about a inquiry I sent by email for one of his vehicles. During our conversation on the phone I asked him if he had any trucks or SUVS around 10 thousand or under 10 thousand. And he said yes I actually just got a nice trade in! It's a 2004 Suburban very nice it's just about to finish up it's Maryland state inspection. So I asked how much? He replied back 6 thousand. I said I'm very interested and would like to come by to check it out! He bragged about how his dealer is the only dealer in the county with these type of older cars and trucks for these prices. I said well that sounds good. Once I got there I checked out the suburban and took it for a test drive. When I got back I had cash in hand ready to make the purchase! So I'm ready to set this deal then David tells me well the price is going to be around 10 thousand and I was just in shock like wow why would you lie to me on the phone make me waste my time just to turn around and up the price by 4 thousand for a 17 year old vehicle?! Truly a great car-buying experience. After going to several dealerships in the area, I finally found the car I wanted at Membercar (online). I had never heard of the company before, but decided to go and check it out. I was really impressed with the selection of cars they had - I think there were 150 in lot if I can recall correctly! They had everything from 4-door sedans, to SUVs/Crossovers and even some luxury vehicles. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, despite it being a very busy day. I dealt with Carlos who was a joy. He was polite, funny, calm, and honest throughout the whole process. The entire experience from start to finish lasted about an hour and a half, which included test-driving the vehicle. One of the cool perks about Membercar is that my purchase included a free year of car washes, which are held on Saturdays, AND they serve breakfast! I would be somewhat cautious doing business here. I found a car I liked which was purchased from Auction. It fit the mileage and price and with inventory being low I was pleased with the car. The carfax report was clean. As far as the staff and ownership go though buyer beware. They promise things with virtually no follow up at all. Might be low stress and friendly initially but if you need anything after your purchase they will actually just not respond to you. If you want a professional buying experience I would suggest a dealer or Carmax (at least you have some recourse if something goes wrong). We bought a used Subaru Forester for my daughter at MemberCar two weeks ago. I was hoping to trade in her Jeep Wrangler, but they didn't offer me a very good trade in value so I would say that part was very disappointing. The Subaru needed a few things done and they offered to have their repair shop on site take care of the issues. It took a bit of begging on my part to get an appointment, but eventually I received a call from Naldo, at the repair shop, and he turned out to be amazing. They did all I asked and more, and Naldo was wonderful at keeping me in the loop on the status of the repair. I'm even tempted to start taking our other cars there for maintenance based on my experience with them and Naldo in particular. So to summarize, I'd say the buying experience was great, very quick and very smooth. The trade in was a no go, but that's the case with most dealers. I would buy another car from them in the future based on our experience. Jordan was very nice even though he didn't handle the sale directly. And he did follow up with me a couple of days after the sale which I thought was a nice touch. read more

Update 4/1/2021: After less than 3 months of ownership I have had to replace the brakes, tires, a hub and now a major oil leak. This leak requires the removal of the engine. David gave a pitiful "sorry" and offered to have his ramshackle shop do it for half of what I was quoted and that he "would stand by the work." I countered and just asked him to buy the parts and I'll cover labor at my shop of choice. He refused. He also told me that he has vehicles on his lot that develop oil leaks while waiting to be purchased and that just "happens." I recommend staying far away from this dealer. Save your money and time. * Please read this entire review.* Originally, I was going to leave a higher rating but after my experience yesterday at the DMV I'm dropping the score. I spent an extra two hours at the DMV because they sent me the wrong paperwork. When I called and asked them to fax over the correct bill of sale, they couldn't figure out how to make it work. I spoke with Anthony, Dave and another sales manager. They sent me an email with the correct receipt and they just told me to have them print it (not an option at the DMV). They never called back to see if their fax worked, they simply gave up. I had to download an app and fax it myself. This experience, coupled with the amount of money and work I've had to put into the car (read on to see what I'm talking about) has hampered the experience. Their negligence and uncaring attitude has cost me time and money. Unless they have the specific vehicle you want I would go elsewhere. I'm leaving three stars which is pretty g I had an average experience with Membercar. Found a car that I had been looking for and went to go for a test drive. I immediately noticed a couple of things that were wrong with the car (whiny power steering pump, rear brakes that needed replacement, rust on the exhaust) and made them aware while I put in my offer. We were very far apart, and frankly they weren't concerned with the issues I had brought up. That's just the nature of haggling and I can't knock them for wanting to get their absolute best price. Anthony contacted me a couple of days later with a counter offer. I went back and forth with Dave (who kept insisting that this is a "MD inspected vehicle" and therefore mechanically sound) about price and we finally came to an agreement. They only asked that I put a non-refundable deposit down to hold the vehicle for a week since I was out of town. I was able to come in, make the rest of my payment and be on my way. What I recommend to potential buyers is to do every bit of research they can into the vehicle they're interested in and to definitely take it to a mechanic. Bring a second set of eyes with you at the test drive as well! I didn't notice at the time but they had two different sets of tires on the car (two new, two that were significantly worn compared to the new ones) which, for an AWD vehicle is awful and potentially detrimental to the AWD system. I went and got new tires to remedy the issue and was notified that my rear brakes had approximately "a couple hundred miles" left on them. Yeesh, but I knew that I'd need new brakes sooner rather than later but not that soon! I also had to get a wheel bearing replaced. I've driven this car less than 2k miles since purchase which is disappointing. The TPMS sensor came on while I was driving home with it! I also have to get that replaced. To their credit, the car had an immaculate interior and appeared to be mechanically sound at the test drive. I was very pleased with the post-purchase process but the issues I've run into not even a month into ownership have taken away from that experience. The "passing inspection in MD" line is honestly, a crock of crap and just a selling point that doesn't truly hold weight. read more

I bought my car in late November, and still have not received my tags. I was charged for new tags, and then found out they are only transferring my tags- so I was over-charged. I realized the next day that the button to open the back lift gate is broken. But there is no warranty, so that's on me too. Then, last Sunday, approximately two months after buying my car, my battery died. I had to buy a new one from AAA for $116. I drove from PA to this dealership to save about $800-$900, and now between the battery, repairs, and being over-charged for my tags, I will be out almost that amount. Don't read just the reviews on Cars.com. I posted this review there too, and the website never published it. I will say that I was treated fairly and with respect, and that their financing was even better than I got with my bank. The staff there is extremely professional (David, Larry, Carl) - all gave me A class service, and did not try to push me things I did not need (on the contrary - when I asked about extending the insurance, I was told that it is not recommended, and I should save the money). In addition, they agreed to split the payment to 2 checks, without any interest. You also get a membership, where you can come to wash your car every Saturday for free!! Excellent car buying experience. I purchased a 09 Infiniti G37x about a month or so ago. The car is clean and rides very well. I am so happy with my purchase. The car buying experience was perfect; no pressure to buy, knowledgeable about the car, and very reasonable pricing. What had me sold was this. When I test dove the car I could hear a screeching sound when applying the brakes. After the test drive I asked if they would be able to change the brakes before I purchased the car. Not only did they change the brakes at no additional cost but they also buffed out scratches I found on the door and bumper at no additional cost. Went to get a Jeep from this dealer with my daughter. Filled out a lot of paperwork not never received a carfax report.. It was nice to drive off the same day during the drive you can hear more wind than anything. I noticed the top was not secure. A person could climb through the roof. Two days later it rained and the passenger side top started to leak and when the truck is started it squeaked. I notified the dealer. They told me to pick the worse problem and they would call me back to schedule an appointment. The following week came. No call from them. I called them on Friday and they said to come in on Saturday. On Saturday I showed where the opening was and where the leak came from. The Mechanic talking to me as if I didn't know what I was talking about. Physically showing him the problem. Then they said they will call me back again to bring it back in.. okay soo I came out here for you to just look and not fix?? I didn't understand so I said ok... Another week passed no call. So I had to call them AGAIN.. They scheduled. I wrote a detailed report on the problem. They replaced the top. The same day after picking up the truck it rained the leak was still there. The security was fixed but not the leak.. The vehicle was returned to them the following Monday. They had the Jeep for 3 weeks. They informed me that someone from Jeep was coming out to fix it. After getting the truck back the problem was worse on the other side... They made it much worse and didn't care. And the passenger side still leaked. It feel like they took advantage of me and my daughter. Now I'm thinking what did they do?!! Is this how Jeep works?? Did they even call Jeep? They said they would call them back out to look at it again but never did. The owner said he spent too much money?? What about to person you sold the vehicle to? Rude.. Then said the warranty expired... your dealership took almost a month to address my problems.. Not calling back, telling your customers lies, selling lemons.. Yes I am upset. Who wouldn't be. Then the owner says he paid almost 2000 for the top.... It's a knock off top.... Owner screaming how much he paid for this or for that.. Lies.. I took it to Jeep and they informed me that the vehicle was in an accident and wasn't worth what they sold it for. I only had the vehicle for 3 months. I should not be going through any of this. This has been a nightmare. The dealer said they was calling Jeep then changed their minds once I posted the truth of what they did. Now the owner will not fix it. This place use and take people money and leave them with pain. The only thing they care about is the sale... then the owner continues to say we'll bring it in.. I'll just sell it to someone else.. Wow first you going to sell it without fixing it. Then, tell me the only thing you can do is trade it for something else. First of all something else is not what I want. A wonderful Jeep is what I want. Not a Lemon.. You are a prime example why people don't like dealerships. The Jeep has a airbag recall on it for months and the dealer did nothing about it.. read more
