DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE!!! I had one of the worst dealership experiences I've ever dealt with, involving the following "managers" Paul Angel, Rob Buaynstein, Jason Buts, and Mussa Fowl. I live in Virginia and went through the full process of purchasing a vehicle from this Maryland dealership in good faith. Here's what happened: * I contacted the dealership about a specific vehicle and was told multiple times they expected me to come purchase it. * I paid out of pocket to have a mechanic drive 40 minutes to inspect the vehicle before buying. * I repeatedly asked to place a deposit or hold on the car, but was told they "don't hold vehicles due to corporate policy." Despite that, they continued to tell me things like "see you tomorrow" and prepared me as if the deal was happening. On Friday morning: * They had me submit a credit application (which I was told would be a soft pull, but it turned into a hard inquiry). * They sent me a signed buyer's order with the VIN and price, which I submitted to my credit union. * My credit union approved the loan and issued a check payable directly to the dealership for the full amount. * I sent them proof of the check, and they told me to come pick up the car that same day. While I was literally on the way (3 hours out), after sending them the check confirmation: * They informed me someone else was coming to look at the vehicle. * Then told me whether the car sold was "above my pay grade." * Shortly after, they sold the vehicle to someone else. When I called to resolve the situation, I was given the runaround by multiple managers: * I was told the check "doesn't hold the car" * They claimed someone else "was already in the system" * And ultimately said they were no longer selling it to me The call ended abruptly with no resolution. Key issues: * Misleading communication throughout the entire process * Hard credit inquiry after being told it would be soft * Sending a signed buyer's order, then backing out after financing was secured * Accepting proof of payment and telling me to come in, then selling the car anyway * Complete lack of professionalism from management Bottom line: I spent money on a mechanic inspection, took a credit hit, secured financing, and drove hours based on their word--only to have the vehicle sold out from under me at the last minute. This dealership does not honor its commitments and does not operate in good faith. Proceed with extreme caution. read more

We have used their service department for a Rav 4 never again. They were supposed to do an oil change and fix a tail light. They gave us the car back and a bill neither was done. We bought cars from them years ago never again. Sales department doesn't call back. Makes you wait forever in the showroom.... Not a good dealership go elsewere. read more

We had a great, easy time selling a car here today. A relative had died & we needed to sell her car. I asked for offers through the major car buying apps. Fitzgerald Auto Mall had the 2nd highest offer (made through the cargurus.com app). We'd spoken with the DMV & had all the paperwork they required. However, the highest offer (& a few other offers) wouldn't buy the car without the executor present. Since the executor lives out of state, we had a problem...until we called Fitzgerald's. I spoke with Martina on the phone. She was friendly & helpful. After talking to their title specialist, she assured me the sale could happen at their dealership. She made an appointment for us to meet with salesman Shannon the very next day. The dealership is large, clean & sparkly, & every single person you pass in the hall is super-friendly. They offer water, coffee, directions. It's a *nice* place to visit. Shannon was the *best*. He's everything you want in a person you're doing business with: friendly, direct, fair. He gets down to business quickly but he's fun & easy to talk with while you're waiting for the car inspection. I highly recommend him & Fitzgerald Auto Mall if you're buying or selling a car. One last thing: Martina kindly cautioned that their inspection might mean their cargurus.com offer could go up or down after the inspection. I laughed & teased her, saying "Come on, how often does the offer go *up*?" She laughed, too - a businesswoman-to-businesswoman reality check moment. But guess what? Our offer DID go up! By $96. first salesman didn't call me back after I told him to give me the best price and call me, and he verified my number, so no excuses. second salesman was a really good. I decided to buy the car even after they added 200$ for nitrogen in the tires. ( they are a fixed price dealership, ubless they want to change the price) I put a thousand dollars cash down on a car that didn't pass their inspection process! why show the car? pass the inspection first, then show the car. they would give me my cash back and I got a check in return that took two weeks to clear. If i could give them zero stars, I would. We've been dealing with Fitzgerald lots and repair for 15 years and four vehicles and been very happy with them. However, this latest one has soured us on them totally. I had a fender bender and had my insurance company send the estimate to this site. When I didn't hear anything for a couple of days I called them. The admin person there indicated they didn't have a general email address - just three personal ones (I guess she didn't know about the fitzccw email account). Anyway, write the fitzccw email account and explained the problem. A body person called me back (saying he got a call from his supervisor). I indicated due to special equipment in my car (it is still drivable) I need to minimize the time it is in the shop. I would like them to pre-order the parts my insurance company indicated and let me know - I would bring it in and if other parts are needed at least they have a head start on the repair. He indicated they "do it all the time" and it would be "no problem". After two weeks of not hearing anything, I again wrote the fitzccw email (I was not impressed with the people who answered the phone the first time). No answer. I sent another email the next day (yesterday) Again, no answer. I was quite willing to work with them on this (even paying for the parts ordered in advance if necessary) but the lack of communication has turned me off all of Fitzgerald Automall sites. From now on we will be taking our two Hyundais somewhere else for maintenance, and when it comes time to buy new cars we will be looking elsewhere. read more

I LOVE this place! The customer service is so good it warmed my heart. I felt so taken care of. My son and I saw the perfect truck for him but we couldnt make it out there until later that night (late) They didnt even know if we were going to buy the truck but the salesperson, the manager and the financaing person stayed for us. They didn't rush us one bit. Not for one second. They were talking to my 16 year old son and I like it was the middle of their work day. To me thats what I'm looking for in a company. I've been a customer for a year and a halve and I am mostly happy. One thing puzzles me, however: why one needs to book a precise hour for service when that hour is never respected? Other mechanics tend to be more honest saying "Just drop the car and we'll call when ready" or offering a curtesy ride, etc. No such things here, which is frustrating. read more

I had to have my car towed in because it wouldn't start, I was told they wouldn't do anything to my vehicle until speaking with me first. I finally get a text saying my car's ready and it would be $165.00, because they did a hard global reset. I called over to where I have my extended warranty to find out why it wasn't covered and they said because basically all they did was unplug my battery and plug it back in and that did the reset. They charged me $165.00 for that, now that's what I call a complete ripoff, they did not need to charge me for that. I spoke to another mechanic at a different dealership after this happening to me and they apologized to me and said they most definitely shouldn't have charged me. We did most of the work on the phone, since I live in another state and I was looking for a Tucson plug in hybrid that I was having trouble finding this late in the season. Alex answered my questions, gave me the price, went step by step in a clear and straightforward way. There were no surprises. Everything was as we agreed. It was all fine. All in all, my experience at this Fitgerald location was actually very pleasant! I arrived a little before my 9 AM oil change appointment and was immediately helped by Sean. He was very accomodating in making sure that my Lifetime Fitgerald Benefits were all in order before completing the oil change and even fixed a mistake that the Frederick Fitzgerald location had made previously. The waiting room is nothing spectacular; there is no free coffee, but there is a vending machine and water dispenser. I ended up waiting about an hour for oil change because the staff did not have a particular dye that is needed for my Volkswagon Passat. Sean did come to notify me of the delay, which I appreciated. It wasn't the fastest service, but the staff was friendly, accomadating and helpful, which means a lot to me! read more

My 2015 RAM Promaster left me stranded on Clara Burton Pkwy on 6/2020. The transmission died after only 59,000 miles!!. The warranty of 60 months or 100,000 miles had expired on 4/2020 and this dealer would not honor the 100,000 miles. I will never be buying anything from there again. i bought a truck and they gave me a temporary license plate and they will send the final one in the mail. it's been over a month and a half and the temperary has expired and we have been contacting them over weeks and they keep saying they will send it. i can't use the truck until they send it in the mail. another thing when we first bought the truck we bought in cash for a faster buying process. Wehave been a customer for over a decade, and have generally been satisfied. Over the past two years, however, we have run into a lackadaisical, even, careless attitude on the part of one of its service techs. First he quoted us $3000 to fix an ignition problem. The part in question I replaced myself for $472 and 15 minutes work, my wife took the car in for a scheduled check-up and a "check engine" light that lit up once, the went out. The tech suggested a $5000 engine replacement/complete overhaul because "the timing chain is stretched." There's nothing wrong with the timing, based on how the engine is running. This borders on fraud. We won't be going back. I hope the owners replace this guy, since he cost them a customer. read more

They were so gracious and helpful. The entire process from arrival to exit was about 1.5 hours. You know what??!? Yelp works! Initially, I wrote a bad review for Fitzgerald's Wheaton location. Soon after I posted the review, I was contacted by the managers. I was asked to bring back my car for full inspection of what was overlooked or not completed. My car ended up in the shop for 2 weeks. Well, I ain't complaining because I had a loaner car. Plus, it was cheaper using the loaner car, gas-wise. Since then, I have not had any problems with the car. Finally! One of the managers was in constant communication with me about the status of my car which I appreciated. He took the time to meet me personally whenever I made an appearance at the shop. Buyer beware... Very nice staff but had an issue trying to purchase a used car. They had incorrect information about the vehicle available on-line via AutoCheck. They know the information is wrong yet it is still on-line and there is no attempt to document the error. Ended up not buying because of the vehicle's history. In advance of arriving at the dealership, I called and spoke with them and asked if they had a CarFax on this vehicle and they indicated they did. When we were test driving the vehicle, the salesman said they don't have a CarFax, they use AutoCheck. I knew that because I had already seen the AutoCheck on-line. What I was looking for was a CarFax which I've heard is more reliable. I was particularly interested in whether this vehicle was a personal vehicle or a rental. I know people that have had bad experiences with rentals. AutoCheck for this vehicle stated: "No fleet, rental and/or lease use record" All was good. Agreed on the price. Left the salesman and went to the check-out / paperwork guy. Again, he was very nice. I signed about 10 pieces of paper. We were down to 2 more pieces of paper. "Here, sign this. This indicates we disclosed to you this was a rental vehicle." So, AutoCheck was clearly wrong. But, the dealership knew it was a rental and did not disclosed that until I'm ready to walk out the door. Darn it. I didn't want a rental vehicle. If I wanted a rental, there was an exact same vehicle 2 years newer at another dealer that was a rental and I specifically steered away from that. They offered to knock $200 off of the price. Based on my research for this type of car (Hyundai Elantra GT), the decrease in value for a rental is in excess of $1,000. We ended up not buying the car. Again, 2 stars for the friendly and helpful staff. But, they did waste about 3 hours of my time by not disclosing the correct information. This all occurred yesterday. I checked their web site today and there is no attempt to disclose the correct information. I'll up my Yelp review rating if I see an honest attempt to fix their error. read more

On January 11, 2014, I took in my 2007 Suzuki SX4 with 42k miles for warranty work. The car was making rattling sounds from the muffler area and the car was sluggish, not driving past 45MPH. I had another mechanic take a look at it, and I went under the car myself and took photos and it was the Catalytic Converter that wasn't working. Researched it on the web, and it's a common problem in these cars that the honeycomb breaks inside the converter. The catalytic converter is covered under Federal Warranty and Suzuki's warranty for 8yrs/80,000 miles. I took it to Fitzgerald, and upfront they want to charge me $110 to work on the car regardless of the warranty. Although, I explained and argued that it was covered by warranty. Ultimately, they wrote a service agreement and didn't list the $110 to check the vehicle. On Tuesday, I spoke to Service an they advised me they received authorization from Suzuki North America to change the Catalytic converter and changed it but now it's the Resonator & another converter that isn't working properly and they will contact Suzuki N.A. for another authorization to change the Resonator/Converter.. However, now the Oxygen Sensor attached to the Catalytic Converter isn't working and not covered by warranty so I would have to pay $400+ to change the Oxygen sensor attached to the Catalytic converter. I contacted Suzuki N.A. on Tuesday, Jan 12 to place a complaint and report the incident, they called the dealer and gave me a case number.. Debbie the Customer Service at Suzuki N.A. stated she will call her Regional and report the complaint, so he can call Fitzgerald and hear their side. Jan 13, I called Suzuki N.A. on the status of my complaint against the dealer and they state they will not pay for the Oxygen Sensor. While searching the Warranty guidelines, I uncovered the Federal Emmissions Regulations EPA-420-F-09-048. Based on Federal Regulations, all car manufacturers after 1995 have to provide an Emmissions Warranty.. On page 3 of the EPA-420-F-09-048, it states the parts covered are. "Exhaust Gas Conversion Systems: oxygen sensor, thermal reactor, catalytic converter, dual-walled exhaust pipe" I advised the Suzuki Customer Service representatives about the regulation and asked them to annotate this information on my complaint. Jan 15, UPDATE.. Suzuki N.A. finally authorized Fitzgerald to replace the Oxygen Sensor under Warranty.. read more
