I was assigned to a room and a group of doctors and nurses who took excellent care of me throughout a two-night stay. The staff did an excellent job in diagnosing and stabilizing my condition, and while the process of being awakened throughout the night for medication and testing/vital signs is frustrating, it's understandable. Some areas of focus could be to reduce the amount of directing patients towards the app for test results and surveys - I question whether all of those surveys truly serve a valuable purpose. I highly commend the nursing staff, though I never really was certain who was in charge of making medical decisions on my behalf. Overall, an excellent service with highly professional people who I will always sincerely appreciate.

It is going on 7 days ( if there is still know report on Monday the 27th. I had a very hard time trying to get any answers on why it takes so long here To have my reading done. I was told by a couple staff people that it might be that some radiologist take longer than others to read them and that my results might have been just fine so radiologist would put my results to the back of the line. Doesn't seem right because I am a paying patient also, and I have my own fears of the results. Staff in side the hospital are very friendly, and are good at directing people on where to go. May be I am wrong but just seem strange that no one would contact you? Thank you

The only complaint I have is no fault of the hospital. I was too short for the machine I had to use. Despite efforts to make things work, it was still a bit uncomfortable for me. I will say up front, that during my two visits (one in 2019, this one in Nov.2026) for procedures and tests (including overnight stays) at Ascension St. Vincent's Southside Hospital (apparently this is the real name) have been among the best, if not the best medical care I've received in a hospital. Having what I perceived as a medical emergency, St. Vincent's was chosen for me in 2019 by the NAS Hospital because of an emergency procedure I needed on my left side. I remembered that and this time I got to pick where I would go for hospital care. Room set up was ready for me when I arrived. The ambulance ride went very well and both paramedics were solid professionals and very courteous. I wound up staying at St. Vincent's for about two days. There were three tests and photos taken of my heart. One thing that I was sad about was how many times needles were being pressed into my arms! - I still have great veins to work with! But they were totally uncooperative on this visit. I should have suggested the butterfly! But setting up for further blood pulls probably would eliminate the use of a butterfly syringe. I will say each tech who worked with me did it in a careful manner, which I appreciated! I can say that I've worked in hospitals as a chaplain a been a patient on multiple occasions too! Knowing it from both angles really helps in giving an assessment of a hospital staff and the care they provide. I liked that St. Vincent's provides morning and evening prayers that are heard across the the hospital both morning and evening. A Catholic hospital I once worked in years ago provided this service too (even I gave some!). I had two fantastic nurses, both first class!! Sara and Doug took awesome care of me by visiting my room rather frequently and fulfilling any requests I had promptly. I did make one mistake while I was there and I'm thankful that they helped correct me. I enjoyed talking with numerous staff personnel and can say for the most part, they really seemed to enjoy working here and were committed to the care of the patient. The only strike (not a star) I have took place at breakfast when I found food seasoning rather than Splenda I had ordered for my coffee! Well, I did call back and asked for a correction, but it never came :( I don't hold it against them - I was discharged not long after eating. As for my tests, I have some life changes to make. I'm thankful St. Vincent's made some arrangements for me to begin that process in the near future. Hopefully the VA will work with me on this one too! This hospital has been around for a good number of years. It does show its age on the floors. I was on 3 North and it was very active up there. I don't believe this calls for a renovation yet, but it might need to be in the works sometime in the not too distant future. Oh! Another thing that showed the floor staff was solid was that my room was right next to the nurses station. I could hear conversations throughout day and night. Never once did I hear anything negative, inappropriate, or a single gripe. In all, I was very well-treated here and truly am grateful for the care I received at Ascension St. Vincent's Southside Hospital. PS- I want to add another to my list of mentions. My assigned doctor, Dr. Ijaz was truly fantastic in her patient care! She understood my situation well and gave some explanations on things I hadn't thought about. She also set up my first appointment with a cardiologist as I begin life's next journey. As I was soon to leave the hospital, she called me to give advice on making sure I work with the VA as I am in that system for future care. She went the extra mile, for which I'm very grateful. I feel like she actually cared about my situation and even made sure to give me something should I develop an issue with a medication she gave. I've never had a doctor care what happens after I leave there office. The prescriptions she prescribed were affordable and I didn't have to hunt all over town to find them, I've had to before. I wish she was my PCP. This is a great urgent care.

Multiple times I have called for refills on medications, and she would brush me off and it would take at least 5 days to get service. I don't know what she was doing, but clearly her Dr's patients were not her number one priority. I work with the city at large's community every day, and manage to have empathy and compassion. This woman needs to be a prison guard. She was absolutely awful, she is doing the doctors in this practice a great disservice.

Watching my husband…read moresuffer and be in constant agony this entire summer under your care has been heartbreaking and unbearable to watch. ALL because CYA is more important to you than a person's well being. Because people are overdosing on fentanyl on the streets, you doctors are too afraid to give prescriptions of medicine that will actually help to the people who need it most. My husband was in a car accident, hit from behind and his MRI proves he has suffered multiple herniated disks in his neck and back. Surgery has to happen. BUT in the meantime, you give NO pain medication for this man!? Pardon me, Gabbapentin was your suggestion. I am here to tell you I have not seen any relief from this medication. In fact, the nerve pain is so bad he tells me that his arm hurts worse than his neck at times. He cannot sleep, I have not seen him sleep for more than 2 hours at a time since this accident because of the pain. He's constantly taking baths and falling asleep in the bath because it's the only way to get any relief. Sleeping in bathwater!! Having to work during the day (which, involves a lot of driving) Half awake everyday. Naturally he's on edge, has little patience and is basically in survival mode. Looking into his eyes are so sad these days. He is so miserable! It is absolutely heart wrenching to watch and not be able to help. I think to myself if you, Dr. Powell, had a spouse going through this you would in no way allow this to happen to them. To suffer so unnecessarily like this. Why does my spouse have to suffer? He has never abused pain medication. Ive been married to him for over twenty years and cannot remember a time he's ever even needed or taken it! He obviously has pain, you can see it on the MRI and surgery is being scheduled. Why would you not prescribe this man some pain medication in the interim??? He cannot have surgery any faster than it can be scheduled because if he could, he'd have it done today, he's in so much pain! We are not a third world country, we have access to medicine and this seems absolutely inhumane to me. Pain medicine is not good long term, but in the short term can make all the difference. Even as far as a person taking their own life over being in constant pain. Shame on you, the program you have Tony Crafts on is NOT "managing his pain" one iota!!! I hope this message will cause you to reflect on your choices and perhaps compel you to put yourself in your patient's shoes and consider that their days matter too. As someone with a diagnosed, painful condition, your care team has a moral and ethical obligation to help.
