I can't say enough about this place. Both myself and my children have been seen at this ER. We've never been there longer than an hour and a half tops, even for stitches! The doctors and nurses are really great and they truly care about their patients. The check-in experience was so easy and they had me in and out of my visit today literally within 15 minutes. I know that's not typical but I've had several experiences there and it's just been amazing. So grateful to this center and will continue to come back, should I need care. I needed to have my finger stitched up after an accident. I didn't want to sit forever at Baptist or carespot. I had to pick my kiddos up from school and didn't have time to wait. I went in and they saw me right away. The security guard was nice and also the nurses. The doctor was also nice and stitched me up good. I was out in an hour. The billing was straight forward and I just got it today. They only charged my copay. Keep in mind this is an emergency room. read more

I recently had to visit Mandarin Freestanding Memorial Emergency Room. I was quite ill. I have never ever been to an ER that operates as efficiently and caring as the folks in this ER. Dr. Wallace is a caring and exceptional doctor whose thoroughness found the source of my problem. Her staff is also professional, efficient reassuring and caring. Nurse Dennis and Nurse Miryam interact in the most caring way and are exceptional in their care and expedient in their duties. This is a superb run facility and Dr. Wallace and her staff should be commended and emulated. read more

Although the quality of care and office experience was very good, the surprise balance billing problems and all attempts to resolve bills not covered by insurance were horrendous! We thought this was an urgent care (previously there was one in this location), and Google Maps took us here. Unfortunately, it turned out it is actually a Emergency Care Facility classified as a Hospital Emergency Room. Our very efficient 20 minute office visit with a strep test (and COVID test) ended up getting billed to our insurance for over $7600!! We had no warning of this or bill estimates at the time. After insurance negotiated down to about $2500, and paid over $1100, they still are billing us for over $1400 and sent that to debt collectors. Reasonable and customary for Urgent Care should have been about $300 max. Even an ER visit should have only been about $1300 max. PLEASE BE WARNED before you visit. Care is very good, but costs and billing are unreasonable. read more

I no longer reside in Middletown, NY. I reside in Jacksonville, Fl. I took my 87 year old husband to the ER on July 11,2023. We had gone out to eat and he was feeling faint. I drove up to the door and got a wheel chair for him so I could park the car. When i came back in he was throwing up in the garbage can in the waiting room. Guard was just standing there waiting for a bucket of water. It seems there was a water main break and ER had no water. He finally came and got our info to see a doctor. All the time my husband throwing up. Finally he was put in a room. He must have thrown up seven times. We used all the bags in the room and I had to go get more. The did a CT scan and said he had some dried blood between his brain and skull and there was a gray spot. Said they thought he had had a stroke even thou there was no physical signs. Said he had to be admitted to hospital. They stated that if he was taken to Memorial for an MRI there was no ambulance fee. If taken to another hospital we would have to pay for ambulance ride. He was taken to Memorial and we just received a bill for $250.00 from Ameri Pro EMS, LLC. After 2 CT scans and no MRI he was released. They said he could get MRI after release. Doctor said the hospital only had one MRI machine and it could be a couple of days before they could do MRI. Went to Lyerly Neurologist and they said he did not have a stroke. Why are we being billed for ambulance ride? We have used this ER before with no problems. Usually very good and fast service. read more

I brought my elderly mother here and was told I could not come back with her because they 'have small rooms'. I was with my mom bc like MANY older people she has some memory issues. They said I could be with her shortly but it was over an hour before I was called to join her and who knows what instructions had been given by then. The 'security' guard had on MTV very LOUDLY and it was crass and full of cursing. It was GROSS. Meanwhile he had in earbuds and was paying NO attention. If you don't have a stress headache when you come in you will by the time you leave this weirdo bachelor pad waiting room. read more

I do not recommend coming here unless there is no other option. My partner brought me here around 2 a.m. after we realized I was having a drug interaction induced panic attack. I was concerned there could be a seizure risk due to the type of medication. Memorial Emergency Center is the first "emergency room" that I've been to that has no medical staff at the front desk, just an elderly security guard watching murder mysteries on the waiting room television. It was ~ 20 minutes before I interacted with any medical staff. As I was led to a room it seemed there were only two other patients present. The nurse was friendly and seemed genuinely concerned about my current state. After vitals were gathered, he asked for my insurance card and identification as he left the room. Shortly after a different staff member brought paperwork to be filled out with the information from my insurance and I.D. card. As I was filling out the forms, registration called the room requesting information from my insurance and I.D. card; to which I stammered out the answers. All that made this location seem disorganized and rather frustrating since I was still in the middle of a panic attack. The doctor, although not the least bit cheery, did his job effectively stating that my issue while extremely discomforting was rarely lethal and offered a sedative. If Memorial Medical wants to advertise this location as an emergency room then it should be staffed accordingly. I recommend going to a real ER attached to an actual hospital. read more

Patient beware! This place over-charges. They billed over $6,000 for a visit less than 2 hours. No forewarning of the charges. Saw the doc for 5 mins and had a throat swab done. They charged 2600 for the test. Free-standing centers are supposed to be less expensive than hospitals. This one is not. It appeared that I was their only patient that morning, and they charged as if I was! If you are sick, do not go here. Try Crucial Care on Baymeadows instead. Much more reasonable. I went to Memorial on San Jose in early October for a strep throat. Because I seldom go to the doctor, I assumed this single building was an urgent care place. The service was excellent- no bones about it. The problem was later finding out that what I thought was urgent care was really as if I had walked into Memorial on University for care. Had I known that, I would have gone to Carespot or even my primary care less than a mile away. I now have a bill for $1700 for a shot and free penicillin prescription later filled at Publix. BCBS attempted to help remedy this as my insurer but Memorial basically said I should have known. BEWARE of your BILL.... read more

Up front disclosure. I knew this facility was classified as an ER and went in knowing the bill would be high. My insurance covered 95% of my bill, but I am still in shock at how HIGH the bill was and want others to be aware of what can happen at a place like this, even though I didn't get stuck with the bill I find myself angry thinking about people unknowingly visiting here thinking it's an urgent care. Our bill was $17,000! Follow up visits with my family doctor also raised questions to the overall care received here. For $17,000 there should be no gaps in care! My wife had a kidney stone late at night. Facility was empty so we were seen quickly, staff was friendly enough, no complaints. At discharge we were given a prescription for pain meds and sent on our way. Several hours later wife is throwing up the pain meds due to the severe pain of the stone and calls Dr on Demand for help. The physician is dumbfounded we weren't given anti nausea meds OR medication to help pass the stone, just narcotics for pain. Wife was nauseous at Memorial so they were aware of this. This was our first kidney stone so we didn't know we should be given these types of prescriptions. Speaking with nurses at work subsequent days later led to more disbelief we hadn't been given the correct medication to assist in passing the stone. Just a pat on the back and some narcotics. So as the Memorial moderator will respond to this message I'm sure, yes its an ER and bills will be higher, but given the lack of attention to the medication we needed at discharge it appears to be a "bill as high as we can hope insurance pays" type of shop. Double, Triple, Quadruple check this place is IN NETWORK for your insurance or you could owe them a brand new car after the fact! And even then your care may not be completely what you need! read more

I brought my son here for what ended up being an upper respiratory infection. It was misdiagnosed at an urgent care facility so when my son started suffering again less than two hours later I opted to take him to an ER. The staff was very friendly and the doctor was as well. Called 911 to take me to emergency room because of back spasms. I was not able to move because of pain that was so severe, I couldn't drive there myself. Being a retired RN, I had a different experience. After taking all my information, after a half hour, I asked if they could give me something for the pain. Another half hour before they brought me a codeine tablet. I responded that it would make me nauseated. Reply was "what were you expecting to get"I just said give it to me because the pain was about 15 on the pain scale. Asked " how can I lower the head of my bed and was told "you can't do it". This is a bed where we do cpr on. It is not like a hospital bed. I gave them a urine specimen which the tech forgot to give them until I had to void again and noticed, he still hadn't picked up the specimen. Specimen had a few red blood cells which I usually have and was told perhaps I had a kidney stone. I told them I didn't have a kidney stone as I had this problem before. Finally had to call a cab as I had no way of going home. read more

If you value your life savings, do not go to this ER. I burned my hand on my lawnmower and needed something quick, so I went to the Mandarin Memorial ER. They put some salve on the burn, looked it over, bandaged it and I went home after about 30 minutes. I told them I had taken a pain pill already but they still brought me one anyway, but I rejected it. I knew I was taking a risk going to the ER but I thought it would still be reasonable since I have BC/BS insurance. Instead, no one in their right mind who values their financial security should ever go to this ER. The total bill for that salve and bandage is now over $4200!! Utterly unconscionable charge for such a visit I can only imagine what the cost is if you stay over one hour! BC/BS has paid about $2000, which I am surprised they have done since that is an exorbitant price by itself for such a visit, but it is only half the cost. Obviously I am paying for many who go there and do not pay because they have no insurance. I think now I might have been better off to have joined that crowd but then some other unsuspecting person will be stuck with a ridiculous bill like I am, and that person could be my neighbor. So the best thing I can do is make sure my neighbor never darkens the door of that ER! They will thank me in the end. read more
