The park itself is in need of a face lift, and or better maintenance. The lake is closed right now due to a toxic algae that is in the water, so if definitely does not smell right and people are not allowed to kayak or paddle board due to the health concerns. The Balloon Festival was pretty cool, it has a fair like atmosphere but once the balloons take off there is not much else to do. I do recommend coming for the Festival, it is quite the site to see. The park itself, is rather run down.

This review is for the Hot Air Balloon festival. While it was fun and exciting, parking was a major cluster. It was a beautiful evening and Memorial park is huge with tons of green grass to bring a blanket and chairs to sit. The backdrop-all the beautiful mountains. The downer? Wind. So most of the balloons didn't even make it up in the air on this night:( The carnival atmosphere brought out some intriguing foodie stands selling SHARK ON A STICK. I'm not kidding! It was a big fried of question mark on a stick if you ask me. Yikes! A rock band played, lots of vendors selling glowing necklaces and light sabers (which we bought), Dunkin Donuts had a stand! Overall a fun night but a disappointing one too, we were looking forward to seeing the Darth Vader and Yoda balloons:( Oh, well, maybe next year.

Memorial Park is a great, free family friendly destination in the middle of Colorado Springs - playgrounds, paddle boat rentals, walking paths, a fishing pier, skateboarding park, soccer, football and baseball fields, you name it and this park has probably got it. I love walking the lake (exactly 1 mile around so it's easy to keep track of how far I've gone) on warm weekend mornings, people watching and allowing the squirrels to taunt my leashed pup. We found snow cones for sale this past Sunday morning from an enterprising teenager who set up a booth, and I've seen other food trucks in the past keep park-goers full and happy. I do wish the lake was (officially) swimming-friendly and I'd like to see some upkeep on the fitness stations that are set up in stages around the lake. Also, if I had my druthers there would be more outdoor events like concerts in the park that would draw crowds in. Why not? Overall, glad to see my tax money is going to work, in part, for parks and services like Memorial Park. We'll be there often this spring and summer.

After spending a day at Washington Park up in Denver, thought I'd investigate whether there was something similar closer to home. Jumped onto google maps and typed in Colorado Springs. Scanned the page for green (parks) integrated with blue (body of water) and found Memorial Park. Packed up the family and drove there. First approach was to just circle until I found the best place to park. The northern end of Memorial Park holds a skate park and the southern end has the lake "Prospect Lake". Walking around the lake took almost 30 minutes so I estimate it's at least 1.5 miles in perimeter. Also, there is an area where you can bring your own watercraft and spend the day on a motorboat or sailboat. During the weekends and holidays, there are vendors selling icecream, italian icees, brats, corn and fruit with chile seasoning. Pets are welcome and there's even sand around the lake if you wanted to feel like you're at the beach. Best park in Colorado Springs. Nine by six blocks large, contains a lake and has several playgrounds for children.

Pretty nice park. Its very spacious and has a lake in the center of it. All kinds of people come to this park. And I mean all kinds. It is not situated in the best of neighborhoods. You must be very vigilant when being in this park, especially during the more irregular hours. Lots of sketchy people hang around there and look like they are up to no good. Besides that, the actual memorial part of the park is very nice. Up kept and very clean. The bell in the center rings at about noon which is pretty cool. I have many members of my family that have served and currently are in the military. So it was nice to see that they have something dedicated to those that served and put their lives on the line for this country. The walk is pretty long. Nice, decent exercise just walking around it. Adults, kids and dogs all jump and play in the lake. There are also playgrounds and basketball courts. It would of been my definite go to spot had my wife and I not experienced being stalked and almost robbed during the middle of the day in the middle of the week.

They are worn out, LOL! Breathing like T-rex's!

I love Memorial Park! They have an awesome playground for the kiddos. The park is always clean. The lake is beautiful and well-stocked...I hear. It's a great place to go for a morning walk or jog and the perfect spot for sunsets. Don't forget the Fireworks show every 4th of July. No complaints!

This is a huge park just east of downtown Colorado Springs. It has its own lake, ball fields, velodrome, ice rink, and skate park. You can do a lot at this park but I would say you need to do it in the daytime. It's a little shady on that side of town and who knows what happens there at dark but it doesn't seem good. It could be just rumors of stuff I have heard over the years but better safe than sorry. Also there are a lot of geese there and so the cement walk way near the lake is cover in goose crap. The place looks like you can get a great workout in just running around it.

The first time I went here with my brother in-law, my sister, and their kids, it was the annual hot air balloon festival! And it was awesome! The open space is definitely good for what looked like tens of hot air balloons! We went at night, so the place was glowing...an experience I will never forget!!! Colorado Springs is definitely a place I see myself retiring, and the Memorial Park is a place I can always go to to fly a kite, play with my future kids, and just have a picnic!

You can't miss Memorial park. It's located smack dab in the middle of the city and it's huge. As an adult, I generally don't find a skate park a necessity but if I did I would head to Memorial Park for sure. Tons of space for picnics and extracurriculars associated with outdoor events. Since we lack actually lakes and rivers in the springs it's nice that they have a body of water located in the center of the park. I've seen people jet ski, paddle boat, and even fishing. There is a nice walking path around the perimeter of the park with plenty of dog waste receptacles. (Please clean up after your dogs) I would say this is probably the best family friendly park in the Springs. It doesn't have the scenic views like other touristy places in the city, but it definitely accommodates those seeking a great family park.

After we dropped my boyfriend's brother off at the hospital to complete some paperwork for his new nursing position, my bf and I needed to kill some time before he was done so we checked out this pretty cool park across the street. Lots of great walking paths along the lake and playgrounds for kids. A great place to take your dog to burn off some energy. We don't live in Colorado Springs so it's highly unlikely that we will be back, but if we did live here I know this would be a frequent hang out for the both of us.

Great place to just go chill. Either enjoying the view boating or backing the jetski in. I go often.

Field where you can play fetch with the pups!

Nice enough; lake, playground, etc. Just a few too many indigints and creepers around for me to be happy about bringing my 8-year old here.

Parking was easy, they had plenty of spots while I was visiting. They've got something for everyone! Hiking trails, bike park/paths, rock climbing (permit needed), an off leash dog park. I specifically went for the hiking trails. They were great for my 4 year old. When I go with him I try to look for trails under 3 miles. My only complaint is I wish they had real bathrooms by the parking lot. The porta potty was pretty gross. P.s. you can see garden of the gods from this park! They are pretty close to each other!

Colorado is the healthiest state in the US (this is fact, you can look this up on the CDC website)…read moreand I can see why. With such amazing hiking available, that is free to residents and visitors, all over the state, it encourages you to get outside and enjoy what mother nature has to offer. Red Rock Canyon Open Space has a series of canyons and ridges sculpted by erosion of the area's uplifted rock strata. The ridges and canyons offer beautiful views that are photo worthy for those wanting to post to their social media (or hey, just keeping these photo keepsakes in your own camera roll is also fine too). Red Rock Canyon Open Space is dog friendly, with some off leash areas (where noted), and 11 trails that you can hike. The trails are anywhere from 1.7 miles to 5.4 miles, with a lot of pretty easy trails for those that are not as active but still want to partake in the journey. You can also see views of Garden of the Gods, which is nearby. Red Rock Canyon Open Space is not nearly as busy as Garden of the Gods (but highly recommend a visit there too, which is also dog friendly). From May 1 and Oct. 31, you can enter Red Rock Canyon Open Space between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m.; during the rest of the year, the park closes at 9 p.m. There is free parking available and also one porta potty at the beginning of the trail (but I did not use it) and also trash cans (I did not see trash cans anywhere else in this open space). My husband and I visited Red Rock Canyon Open Space with our little girl dog. We came on a Sunday afternoon, a little after 1 pm. It was an overcast day, which was nice. But it was rather busy but not crowded. We were able to find a parking spot without any trouble. We only did 2 light trails but enjoyed the views. The trails we had were pretty easy for the most part. We also did see a handful of dogs during our visit. Please note that there is hardly any shade so make sure you plan accordingly (hat to shade your face, plenty of water, etc).

Seven Falls was absolutely, positively beautiful in every way. Words can't even describe it, but…read morehopefully these photos can convince you. Seven Falls started out with a semi-short shuttle ride to the actual scenery. From there, it just got more amazing. I understand how the steps could be strenuous for many, and it definitely wasn't easy, but a little stop to catch your breath is provided about midway through. I saw a couple people who didn't feel up to finishing the steps stopping at the rest point, taking some photos, and coming back down. The views were still stunning from that height. Heck, they're stunning from any height or viewpoint. There was also a little shop with delicious popsicles located before the steps. Clean bathrooms along the way as well. It all just seemed very well-thought-out. This was also partially due to the employees, who were all very helpful and pleasant. To put it simply, Seven Falls has it all-it's beautiful, clean, and unique. Amazing in every aspect, stunning from every angle. I felt immersed in the mountainscape from the first step out of that shuttle.

They open at 9:00 so I decided that would be a good time to start to beat the summer heat and I was correct. After about 3 hours here it started to get hot (July 2026) as well as more crowded and touristy. Walk up the 224 steps to see the top of the falls and keep going to get to Inspiration Point. It isn't the most beautiful hike or view I've ever seen in Colorado by a long shot, but I like most any kind of hike so I am glad I did it. After, I rode up the elevator to the Eagles next, reading the history of the place on signs along the way in the tunnel to the elevator. I walked down the steps after and it was a nice way to end my time at the falls. I think it's pricey for what you get but I wanted to see it. Be prepared that it gets packed with kids and is not a quiet peaceful view of the falls, but the hike past the falls is not crowded and was mostly adults during my time there. I don't feel a need to go back, and if I were bringing out of town guests I would likely take them to one of many other activities and outdoor adventures in the springs.
