Cool spot. everything to do there for all ages. I went down for like a 1 mile walk to the brazos to fish and caught a couple. Its pretty cool out there. You can mountain bike jog, bar b q, pic ni q, or whatever. Its pretty legit. Coming from Cali they never really had parks like this out there. people should appreciate it. Its a very park with lots of area so you can spend some hours there. check it out. read more

This is a great park to run. The three mile loop is filled with other people running, which is nice for company and gives you plenty of options for pacing off someone else. Supposedly, this is the park where Bush senior ran before his hip replacement. Overall great place to check off a run in Houston. read more

My friends and I drove for an hour to find a park with an open pool, and we were disappointed to see that the pool was closed. Even though my experience was a disappointment, it was a nice place where kids could go play, bikers could cycle, families could enjoy picnics, and over all an amazing place. read more

Pretty much the best place to run. Forces you to do the 3 miles. Can get packed at or around 5pm so if you can get there early do it!

Been coming here since 2009. And currently come here all the time. Love it's central convenient location! Good loop for a short run. Only 3 miles, but you can make it an easy 10 by going to allen park way. Also connects to the heights trail via downtown and white oak bayou trail all the way to TC Jester park! The memorial loop itself gets a little crowded at parts (especially when walkers walk more than two abreast and in the middle of the trail). The drought a few years back greatly hurt the amount of trees and foliage and memorial drive runs right along part of the trail and the street gets quite busy at times. However, altogether it's a nice little loop for a jog. read more

I love the venue that creates good mix of the college crowd and local Park locals. It so pity that it takes some time to find seating and parking is not always easy. Memorial park is the best park to run at in Houston in my opinion. There is golf, playgrounds, tennis courts, and team sports on the weekend. There is a 3 mile run all the way around with water fountains and spray showers on the way around. The only problem is that it takes a very long time to find parking around 7:00 pm beacuse of how packed it is. This is a very good place to run. read more

It's just human nature to not feel motivated to workout at all. Repetition really is insanely boring...hello!!! Once you get to the park & see so many people jogging, doing their P90X or other crossfit exercises that's when your motivation-drive goes up & you want to hurry up park your car & burn those calories...fast! This is how I feel whenever I get to the park. Whenever I see fat people jogging, I often tell myself "I hope my waistline never gets that wide." This motivates me even more to stay at the park a little longer & do some dumbbell exercises after jogging about 2 to 3 miles around the park. Yes, there is some dog-shit around the park. Awesome park, but I did have a weird experience. Great park for running, jogging or even walking with a buddy. It feels really safe no matter what time of day you go, but I have never been there past sunset. There's also plenty of water fountains, even for dogs! You'll also know that it's safe because there are plenty of activities that are always going on.The only reason you may hear the park looks like it's in bad shape is because of the 2011 drought. However, it is very apparent that work is being done and it is looking nicer. I did have an odd experience though, and I hope it's not a common thing. I stopped to use the restroom (men's restroom) and as I was using the urinal another guy came in and was staring at me and then flashed me and approached me outside and started asking me questions. I hope this does not happen to myself or anyone else. Other than that, I love this park and will now be using the stalls or the private port-o-potties. read more

I live in Fort Worth and came down for a client visit yesterday and I wanted to run after the meeting and to let traffic die down before driving back home. My client suggested that I go to Memorial Park. This is by far the best park I have ever been to. It was full of life!! It was like being at Santa Monica Beach. People were out walking, running, walking their pups and enjoying being outside!! I loved it!! Seeing others trying their best as they ran helped me keep going and ignore the heat. I have told everyone that I work with how awesome Memorial Park is. read more

The Memorial park running trail is the best place to run in Houston. Lots of new trails are being built in Houston, but with contcrete surfaces for bicycles, hard on joints for runners. One precaution in Memorial Park, I was running today and was nearly hit by a golf ball from the driving range. read more

Nothing near what this place used to be with the beautiful abundance of trees, many of which are gone now. Yet, I do enjoy the track, with it's nice, easy to run on gravel. I do have a bit of disdain towards the portion of this track facing traffic, because it can be a bit embarrassing at times to run in front of what seems like a fairly large crowd of Houstonians passing by. read more

i love this park cuz its probably the best we have in H Town. i can run, bike, have a picnic, take my family and friends. the jogging loop is 3 miles and perfect for a quick workout. hit the bike trails and get a really good cardio while having fun. they have baseball fields, volleyball, driving range, golf course, playgounds for the kiddos. best park and close to home. read more

I have been running here for years, I love the outdoors ... so much so that I never run on a treadmill, Memorial park beats any and all of those fancy gyms for a good cardio ... a good place for a picnic, play some frisbee and such games, I don't really know any one that i see here, but I see them all the time and for years and that makes it fee like a good park .... it gets a little tight if you are running on the track by memorial drive and sometimes some of the new people who are walking and usually talking don't realize that there are runners going in both directions trying to squeeze through so perhaps they should not take so much room and shoulds be single file rather then 3 across, I have this fear that one of those "plump" ladies with the stroller and the huge dog is going to bump me onto the street and onto oncoming traffic, is this just me? Yes? Anyway I am doing the Houston Marathon this coming January so its a fear I will just have to get over .... see you guys on the track read more

The jogging trail here is great. They could use a few more lights and fountains, but it is a great trail. Haven't seen as much eye candy as I would like, but mayb ethat's motivation to keep going back! It's a full 3 mile run from what I remember, everyone brings their dogs, and the parking is not too bad from my past experiences. read more

This is a long overdue review. First, let me thank an old flame for introducing this park to me. However our romance was short lived. Anyway, the park has so much to offer for various runners, from beginners to expert. Honestly I like to run at a pace, "jog" my way to a minimum of 3 miles, at times I shoot for a 5k run. If I'm feeling the ambiance then I shoot for 6 miles. I do enjoy this than going to my gym; something about this park just makes you connect with nature. There was an influx of individuals during summer time, but has dwindled now since the beginning of September 2016. I highly recommend this park. I prefer to run by myself. I have bumped into old associates. It's cool that we're all trying to shed a few pounds. 15 pounds later, I am feeling great! I almost got ran over by my Boss tho, haha there is a golf course so be mindful of cars as well trying to leave the parking lot. read more

Memorial is my favorite park to come run at, even though I live right next to rice university, I still make the drive to come here. Rice gets to crowded for my liking, memorial is big enough to where it doesn't feel like you're running into everyone. Also, my dog has more space to run here as well! read more

Just went back here, great for runners, great bike track for laps. But way too many people in a hurry, and not enough open green spots. Park seems disconnected by roads. But fantastic nature trail through the woods, feels like you are in California or Colorado back there if you squint, entrance is closer to the 610 freeway. read more

Houston is not known for its greenery, but Memorial Park is a nice oasis amidst one of the largest cities in the nation. It stretches wider and farther than you'd think with a loop for walking/jogging and a loop for cycling. There are plenty of grassy fields for sports or picnics. If you prefer civilazation and would like to sit at a table and bench while dining, there's some of those, too, next to rustic charcoal grills (use at your own risk!). There are even challenging mountain bike trails that you wouldn't think would be crazy since they're in the middle of flat-ass Houston, but I've seen the bruises and scrapes on my husband and friends, so I think you may be mildly surprised. My friends who run tell me there are many lookers at Memorial, so if you're mid-dating drought, you can be a poser: don a pair of running shoes and stretch gallantly in direct view of Mr./Miss Right. I love how the park is centrally located. Only complaint is those mosquitoes will eat you alive during the summer. The park also gets packed so parking and space could be limited. read more

I'd like to preface that this review is strictly for their golf driving range facilities. Although, it is artificial "grass," Memorial Park is one of my favorite driving ranges. It is a well-maintained facility first and foremost. Parking can be pain because it shares a lot with Becks Prime and some park goers illegally park there when they shouldn't be but it is definitely manageable when it isn't peak time. Secondly, I can almost always find an open tee. Prices for small, medium, and large buckets are on par (pun intended) with other driving ranges in the city. This driving range wins hands down because of the shading! It's hard to practice your swing with the Texas sun beating down. Memorial park installed these sunshades for the hitting area -- genius move! Maybe one day when the City of Houston is out of their budget crunch, they could install those cold misters too. my favorite little getaway spot in houston. i try to come when i'm not busy but my work schedule is always changing. during the summer months, i would say it's definitely too hot, my personal preference is to go at sunset around 8. the parallel bars are my favorite activity here, then next is the pull up bar. who ever keeps wrapping tape on the bars, please don't do it anymore. not everyone wants it. read more

Very therapeutic and spiritual place.. Memorial Park time has gotten me through some very challenging moments over the last 10 years. I travel a lot for work (Army). One of the biggest draws when I travel is running venues and motivated people out using them. Memorial park is about as good as it gets. Even in hot Houston summers, there are plenty of die hard motivators out fighting back time, and the visuals are always outstanding. Short of Santa Monica beach, this place is hard to beat. I love walking/running at Memorial Park. I love walking on Sundays..less crowded. Parking could be a pain, but overall it's a great park.

I have been running at Memorial Park since I first learned about it in middle school. Over the last 17yrs it has only gotten better. I went off to the military and school for 7 yrs. 25 lbs heavier later, the park is there waiting for another go. Lets not forget about the bike trails. I am not a competitive mountain bike guy by any means. So the trails are nice and challenging enough. As for parking, earlier is better, but if you get there and there is no parking. Give it 5 min. and 20 spots will open up. One thing about running in Houston is you want to get out of the heat ASAP. So no one sticks around for the heat or misquotes. read more

a nice 2.9 mile run (if you run the small loop around the park). i typically run it counter-clockwise and do it in 24-29 minutes. it's lost some trees over the years, but its still quite pleasant. they are almost complete with track/gravel updates. the park is free, but there is a donation drop in a faux tree-stump by the bathrooms/smoothie king. read more
