Sunday me and my family visited spots apart and it was very beautiful and very peaceful although they need to trim the grass and do some landscaping other than that. It's a very nice part to visit. I would suggest barbecuing some food or bringing sandwiches make sure you have bug spray a blanket and a wagon. Those are must things that you should have. I really enjoyed myself. It's tucked down below street level, so if you're driving on Memorial you are likely to miss it. Easily connects to the Buffalo Bayou Park by way of the Rosemont Pedestrian bridge.

I didn't see a parking lot, and I must say, in the end, I was happy there wasn't a parking lot, or I didn't see one. But I was happy because it allowed me to see how charming this neighborhood was, and there were sidewalks. The trees display a life of their own, and that's in the park and neighborhood; the branches were shaped in all kinds of ways, with moss hanging low. Even the sidewalks had character; they were high, low, and some cracked, not from wear or tear; it's how it settled. Some houses were tall and stately, some looked to have that container look, and some were townhouses with alleys out back. And getting back to the park, a zigzag trail runs through the park, which is nice; there's a grassy area to sit and a children's area. I don't know what organization hosted the Mistletoe, but the location was great, and the event was wonderful! Santa was there taking pictures with families and furbabies. A wonderful band played, the decorations were pretty, and the vendors brought the holiday cheer!

They have a covered pavilion for parties or picnics and a playground. There's nothing particular fancy about the park as compared to the other park in the neighborhood, Hermann, but it's still a cute location. I haven't really seen many tiny children playing here, so its a great location to come and hit up the swings without feeling guilty about taking a child's toy.

I visited this park in order to volunteer at the annual Easter Egg Hunt Festival.I The festival was…read moregoing to start at 10;30am.I arrived around 8;30am. I saw a lot of people playing tennis. I arrived the festival venue.I started preparing for the festival. I put candy in eggs. Some people said that this is the largest Easter Egg Hunt festival in Texas. At least, I saw countless eggs. It seemed to me that the most volunteers were from churches. They were nice. They didn't say anything to me when I ate candy.LOL.I ate only 2 or 3 candy. At 10;30am, kids started running for hunting eggs. We needed more eggs. Again, I started putting candy in eggs. Around 11 am, a volunteer manager asked me to wear a Easter Bunny costume and play with kids. I put costume. I was excited.But It was heavy and hot! Some kid came to me." Bunny. I can get candy for you'. How nice he was! But it was too hot and heavy. I was almost down.I saw some word" He( Jesus Christ) is risen". The word encouraged me.I started working again. Another volunteer manager came to me.Mark, " Please pick up trash".I walked around the park.I saw a lot of people enjoying carnival, music and egg hunts. It was a great park and festival. A man at McDonald booth asked me to clean the booth. he told me "I will give you some free food". I cleaned Mac's tent.It was true I got something, but it says' Buy Egg muffin, get one free". This was my real Easter Egg Hunt!. Around 2pm, I left the festival.People praised my hardwork.I saw people who were cooking BBQ. I asked them " Are you selling BBQ?" They said yes.I bought BBQ for $7. That was the best Texas BBQ! I love BBQ! I will definitely return the festival in 2015!

There is also a large grassy area for toddlers to run around (ours loves to run on the grass). Lots of beautiful live oaks. Had no issue finding parking on the adjacent street. Also, its a piece of old Houston; it was established in 1926. This Rice University area park has a neighborhood organization that takes excellent care of the area. To the tune of $10,000 per year. As well they should, it's one of the last bastions of built-to-last playgrounds. Steel and wood and charm, no plastic. Who doesn't remember climbing on the pumpkin stagecoach at Pumpkin Park? Fleming Park is meant to be charming and unforgettable. If playground equipment isn't your thing, there are plenty of picnic tables, oak trees, and general relaxation areas. A perfect pocket picnic park. There's also a couple of tennis courts, two B-ball hoops, and a baseball diamond. There is no sign for the park, only a list of park rules and a community board. If you're uncertain that you are at the correct park, look for a 15' Totem Pole Bird House that was erected in 1991 by Fletcher Mackey. It is constructed of Cypress and Cedar Wood, ceramic, copper, and painted steel. One item of sadness, some idiot(s) stole the lamb spring ride back in January. There are signs on the community board with a photo and plea for its return. Rather, I should say "her." She was named "Mary the Lamb." Again, she's very, very cute, has a snow white fleece, and a giant metal spring attached to her underside.

This large park in Gulfton, not to be confused with Bayland Park down the street, is home to soccer…read morefields, a simple paved running trail, a playground, basketball courts, skate park, splash pad and recreation center (the Community / Rec Center has a separate Yelp page). It is a hive of activity in the late afternoon and evenings when people are out playing soccer, basketball and running on the track. Older residents of Gulfton, both men and women, walk the park's single trail for exercise. Lots of children can be found at the playground and there are several Pokemon Stops around the recreation building. During pre-pandemic times there would be Zumba at the Rec Center and homely Hispanic vendors at the parking lot selling snacks and candy out of their vans. What it is not: not much nature. This park is several large blocks of grass with trees lining the walking trails rather than nature preserve. With that said, the park is large and a breath of fresh air for the residents of Gulfton, many of whom live packed in the large apartment complexes around the park. It is not really a picnic spot as majority of the free space is taken up by the soccer teams, so unless you picnic near the kids' playground, you are in danger of a stray soccer ball. This park is not "scenic" but it serves an important need in the local community. Trash collection and cleaning of the park can always be improved. Safety: the park seems quite safe, even in the evenings due to the popularity of the park and large number of people present. The blue-collar residents of Gulfton do not tolerate homeless people asking for handouts, particularly when their own children frequent this park, and I never saw any homeless people or thugs on the weekday evenings when I would come to this park.
