Sadly, it was my American accent that must have been confusing for the people answering the phone. It's one thing to have a problem and it's another to see how a business handles it. I don't understand how I am in the wrong in this situation and there was no attempt to make it better. While I was face down, he mentioned something about 10 minutes. I couldn't fully understand because I was relaxed and dozing off, and because of the language barrier. I initially thought he was just letting me know how much time I had remaining, which is unusual because massage therapists typically don't provide time updates during the session. Then he told me it would cost an extra $10 for another 10 minutes. That's when I realized he wasn't informing me about the time; he was trying to sell me more service while I was half asleep. This made me uncomfortable since I had clearly communicated what service I wanted beforehand. Why wake me up to pitch an upsell? This was my second visit; the first time, I had a pleasant experience with a female therapist who gave me a great massage, which is why I returned. After my strange encounter with Kevin, I shared my experience with my friend who recommended the place. She told me that during her last visit, she had him as well, and he tried to upsell her during her massage too, making her feel uncomfortable. My friend has been going there for over a year and has never had an issue with the other therapists, so this was a new and unusual experience for both of us. I'm glad she clarified that this wasn't the norm for the business and the other therapists did not have this practice. However, the whole ordeal left me with an unpleasant feeling, and I'm now hesitant to return, especially when there are other massage businesses in the area that offer a peaceful setting without the pressure to purchase additional services WHILE half asleep during a massage.

Prosperous paradise spa is one of the only legit late night massage places in Chinatown. It's so…read morelegit that other masseuses from nearby places tend to choose this one as their favorite option after work. It would be hard to disagree, considering this is a place that reminds me of spas back in Asia. Undoubtably the prices skew somewhat higher, and while they offer credit cards as an option, the fee is almost never worth it. Cash is king and they will round up, because most items and with .99 (e.g. $49.99). What I would argue is the facility is nice enough to warn the slightly higher price and overall solid massage experience. First timers will be directed to a binder, with a breakdown of multiple massages at different prices, and for different lengths of time. I would recommend looking at their website, or doing a little bit of research prior to coming. Sometimes calling ahead of time will work, as the lady boss speaks good English and is able to set appointments based on preferences. Eventually, most folks will be directed to change in their locker rooms, which have showers, vanity mirrors, and personalized lockers. Surprisingly all of the lockers are out of order, which I suspect is a safety measure than a functionality issue. The men's locker room is spotless and offers multiple types of showers. However, none of the lockers are in use or are able to be used. While they do provide shorts and uniforms for people, they don't provide baskets or ways to hold the clothes. People basically have to carry it around. One of their best services is the foot massage. It's excellent and one of the better places in Chinatown to get it. Their massage chair is out in the open and is fancy enough to have a built-in sink for foot soaking and comfy enough cushion to lay flat for front and back. Additionally, they will eventually do a neck, shoulder, and back rub (over clothes + towel) and it remains one of their best valued options. The rooms are extremely clean. It's extremely professional the whole time. They offer back walking which is their version of a deep tissue massage. Unlike a lot of other Chinese massage places where it's questionable from a hygiene standpoint, there is no worry of this here. They offer full bottles of room temperature water for everyone and parking is a cinch. Ultimately one's experience varies with every masseuse, but the men that work here pull off a very good foot massage and that would be my biggest recommendation. If a body massage is needed, I recommend deep tissue, which usually involves backwalking. (#1) ___________ (#1) Also, quite good.

They were able to accommodate me. I was put in a private room, which is different than most locations which have a open room of reclining chairs. I also waited about 15 minutes for a masseur to show up. I got the sense that the front desk called somebody to come from home or that was out running errands to come back and do my massage. The massage felt hurried and rough - though I did get my full-time. I can't quite put my finger on it. But it just wasn't exactly the experience that I prefer at other locations in Katy. I probably would not come back here. Just because I think there's better options. Including an excellent 60 minute foot massage at the next fwy exit in the I-10 & Blalock Ranch 99 Market Shopping Center.

However, if you're someone who is specifically looking for a strong, effective deep tissue massage, I would absolutely recommend this place.
