I have been here several times and it's very clean and welcoming. I do the 30 minute foot/30 minute back and it's awesome. The price is little, compared to how you feel when you leave! Only complaint I have was when I was in there a couple of days ago. The person working on me wore very noisy shoes and it was very distracting. It actually affected my calm. Also, after a below average massage the lady proceeded to tell me my tip was not enough.... she had the audacity to tell me to tip more. Clean, professional, amazing...perhaps even life changing at the time? Dramatic, I know...I'm a full time (and then some) working mom, I have a toddler and walked into Memorial Reflexology on an SOS. I left feeling like a whole new person. It is not a spa so keep that in mind, but I have spent a pretty penny on high end spas before, and I'm pretty sure this was the best deep tissue massage I've ever had. So I've been here only a few times over a few years time so everyone was different but also always professional and though the style is not my favorite as I prefer Thai massage this comes very close the reflexology really smoothed out my sore muscles some areas was a bit rough but well needed. First of all, I have had reflexology therapy/massages and I have been here several times & they are just massages (mediocre at most). There is no reflexology!!! I had a $30 charge and I tipped 10 percent based on my satisfaction. The lady said I needed to give 20% and I did because I was with a friend. Since when am I obligated to pay a tip! I walked into this place expecting it to be like any other massage reflexology spas that I have visited through my years of travels. My daughters expectations were much higher then mine as she had already experienced their services and was very eager to introduce them to me. As the 3 of us walked through the doors we were greeted with a warm welcome and what I saw to be a sincere form of gratitude of our patronage, I mention this only because our daily schedule that morning had been shifted several times creating the need to call and readjust our schedule as the day unfolded however you would NOT have known any of that by the warm and expected welcome we received ince we finally did arrive. The 3 of us, Myself (mommy) and my 2 beautiful daughters walked through the doors leading into the back and our journey began... There were plenty enough customers from what I could see but after receiving my massage I could only question why there wasn't a line forming out their door for their services. Technique, strength and energy! Terrible- Asked for us to double our tip after giving them 20%. They also ask for cash tips. This place was recommended by my friend, so my husband and I went this week. I was told to get "Jason." Jason had stepped out so the lady in the front told me she would give me my massage. It was not relaxing and was sub par, but she was friendly in the beginning, so I tipped her 20%. So, I am a LMT. I'm licensed in reflexology. I do not think these people are. I can't verify that because I don't speak mandarin. It was very difficult to communicate with anyone except for the lady at the front desk. I asked if they used the reflexology tool and it took some back and forth but she finally recognized what I was talking about as "the stick". Ok, so DON'T as for "the stick". I got Jason. Obviously not his real name because he spoke zero English. I had to use the google translator and have it talk to him and then ended up having to use hand cues and head shakes just to get him to stop abusing my feet. His "technique" begins with stabbing what I assume he can only think is a pressure point between the bottom of the big toe and the second toe. Go ahead and push there with your thumb as hard as you can. I will give you a second... Done? Now multiply that by about 1000% to account for "the stick" and the leverage of a direct angle. No palpitation, no exploration. Just a direct and intense overly pressured stab right out of the gate. Maybe we didn't cover that wonderful method in class. Who knows? Then just digging through the lines of the foot. I know reflexology can be painful but I also know how to do it and this was not it. The trouble spots I tried to show him time and again were raked over but not focused properly. I finally got him to use his hands after multiple attempts to communicate. It was at least tolerable after that but it wasn't reflexology. Just a foot rub. Also, the lady at the front locks the door. I know it's Houston and can be scary but with no licenses displayed and no English being spoken it makes me wonder what the older business men types were doing filing into the back rooms. Overall it was a very painful experience and I will not be going back. That's sad because Jason really tried. He really did. But if I were an auto mechanic without any training I don't think I would just keep hitting the engine with a sledgehammer over and over and expect it to work. You have been warned. read more
