Our visit to Memory of Memories Charcoal House. Ok, so here we go on a memory induced or is it memory memory-produced review of Memories? 1. The fish and chips (my go-to) was good and ok. The fish was incredible (Cod flakey and great batter) the fries were meh. 2. The burgers were pronounced good, same meh for the fries. 3. The chicken gyro was pronounced good The menu is wide, the selections were all good other than the fries. A great place to visit for an end-of-week night out! The desserts were good. Been here well over 100 times and frequently get the hamburger special on Wednesdays and often get the taco meal. The service provided by the wait staff is above average to excellent. The servers work hard and are always attentive. Sometimes there is a bit of confusion when the person who delivers the food was not the same one that took the order -- the food sometimes being taken to the wrong table. The grill master is the one major variable when I order burgers. For one thing, I usually do not get the advertised full discount for the Wednesday night special. Things like cheese and add-ons can run up the burger a bit, but there always seems to be an automatic charge for cheese (either $1 or $2 up-charge) which I do not order. That is why I say I usually don't get the full advertised discount. Aside from that, there is wide variation in how the meat is cooked. "Medium" one night can be "Medium rare" or "Well-done" depending on the person on the grill. You best not order it "Well-done" unless you want to risk it being dry and crispy. The tacos are always excellent. Grilled or fried, either way is a diner's delight. The sauce has a nice burn without being too spicy. The two-taco meal may be enough for most diners with the three-taco portion being quite enough to satisfy. As far as putting Memories Charcoal House on my dining list, I will continue to patronize the establishment for its friendly atmosphere, cordial staff and wide variety of menu items. read more

So we come to this place about once every two months. We like sitting on the patio from spring to fall. The service is usually good ...but the serve drinks in small plastic cups. I drink unsweetened tea most of the time so I'm constantly waiting for a refill. The good ... the food is generally tasty. The Bad ... they are charging $32.00 for a 16oz ribeye. I know they use Mt Airy Meat locker for their beef. The steak was seasoned well but had a tiny sliver of a bone for what they called a bone in. Also .... The nickel and dining is ridiculous. You get one side. And they upcharge for mushrooms or onions. In comparison... Longhorn service a 20oz Ribeye with 2 sides and bread for $32.79 So I got the Ribeye and about 6 stalks of very tiny asparagus. I actually like the small asparagus but not 6 stalks??? As far as the steaks go ... don't give me the local meat BS or the cost for a small business. Side cost little ... salad and potatoes are cheap. We don't go to this place regularly because of this ... so we end up with a $72.00 bill (wife got a Cesar salad with shrimp) and seltzer water with a lime. Result ... have to make something to eat after we get home. After dropping nearly $90 after tip. My wife and I prefer to patronize local places but these owners are making it hard. I was going to order the chicken wings and a side salad .... But ...$24 for 12 half wings is beyond ridiculous. The wing shortage is over but many places are hanging on to the price increase ... I'd imagine because they think the customers are stupid. Out of curiosity... I shopped a pack of fresh wings at BJs wholesale club to see what wings are going for. The price for an 18 pack is around $8.00. And that would make 36 buffalo wings since you only get half. Disappointed... food that we did get was good ... but value is somewhere close to a zero! read more

I came for the first time today and it will probably be the last time I come. It was 1pm on a Wednesday, not busy. I waited 30+ min for a medium burger that arrived well done. When I mentioned how long the wait was, she just shrugged and said a disinterested "sorry". The burger was fine, maybe good if cooked as ordered. But not good enough to overcome the experience and wait. Edit: The owner reached out to me via email to address my experience. It's a rare level of costumer service these days and I appreciate it. I ordered the flat iron steak medium rate. What I got was so rate that I couldn't cut it, even with a steak knife- very disappointing. I was with my family and did not make a scene but I did explain this to the waitress who was very polite and understanding. She told me that she would speak to the owner about it. I just finished cooking my steak in the air fryer and it's delicious. Now I ask you, the owner: Why couldn't your chef cook my steak properly? This place is know for steaks, after all! Today my son and I came in to Memories at around 3:50. The sign at the door said "please seat yourself" we sat by the window. It took 10 min for anyone to look our way/acknowledge us....then when someone did she simply said our server would be by soon. Our server Kaitlin came over, no apologies for the wait and sat down menus and looked and me and said "does he really need a kids menu?" This is where I'm immediately taken aback... he is 7...a 1st grader... yes he wants the kids menu to order from and yes he wants to color.... She goes back and gets one and then asks what we want to drink. I tell her coke/Pepsi and he'd like choc milk. She disappears to get the drinks. She comes back and asks what we'd like to order. I tell her we'd like to start with crab dip, with the pretzel rods and I'd like the Louisiana chicken salad for lunch and he'd like the pita pizza and fries. After awhile a different girl comes and drops off my salad and my son's pizza, I think it's odd cause where is the crab dip? But think it must be coming out any second as well. This isn't our waitress. I can see our waitress in the hallway area talking to people pretty much the entire time we're dining. She doesn't check on us so I don't have the ability to ever tell her about the missing crab dip or ask for refills for our drinks, but again..I can see her in the hall... we are by the way the ONLY table until an older woman comes in right at the end. Our waitress comes back when I am beyond done and staring out the window. She asks if we need boxes and I said no so she hands me the check. Immediately I see first thing I am charged for the crab dip. I flag her down and tell her we never received the crab dip and I need it off the bill. She says oh okay and rolls her eyes! and walks away! She comes back with the corrected bill and lays it down. There are ZERO apologies for her mistake. The second she walked up to us we felt incredibly unwanted. You should lock your doors if you don't want customers. This was insane behavior. I have been coming here for years while my son was in prek up the road and I LOVED that salad. Today it was terrible. I used to tell people it was better than an amazing Texas Roadhouse salad and talk it up. There was nothing to it today but onion and cucumbers. My sons pizza wasn't cut, it was an uncut circle so I cut it with my butter knife. The service today was awful...Kaitlin especially was very awful and if that's a normal attitude you won't have any customers left. I'm a long time returning customer and it would be very hard to ever convince me to come back after today. We left hungry and grabbed food elsewhere after. I tipped her 15% but she didn't deserve 15 cents. I just can't bring myself to tip nothing. You should know that not a penny of it was deserved by her. I waitressed for 10+ years on the side when I was in my 20s so I am VERY understanding if it's something I know can't be helped (in the weeds etc) but her attitude was just...not it. I've been here a few times. This place is a little out of my way, but I enjoy coming here. The staff are always friendly. The food is always excellent. Last night I had the Boom Boom Steak and Shrimp. The steak was cooked perfectly. Melted in my mouth. Very tender and tasty. The shrimp were lightly battered and crisp. Very well done. The Boom Boom sauce provided just the right amount of kick and was on point. I highly recommend this place as everything I've had here has been outstanding. read more

Food, Service, Quality and Consistency are always on point here. Whether you sit on the beautiful patio and listen to live music on a Sunday Afternoon or you eat inside and enjoy picking songs from the jukebox it is always a great time. Today I had the pleasure of having Shawna, Courtney, and Britney as my bartenders. They are such a great team. I had the breaded Fried Green tomatoes with goat cheese and basil with a balsamic glaze. I came here with my family and had an okay experience. I got the Santa fe Salad with the cajun ranch. Beware the cajun ranch is pretty spicy but I like that. The problem is when I received my salad, it had look like it had been sitting out. The chicken was luke warm, almost cold. The lettuce had become wilted where the chicken and pico was laying. You also maybe get 10 beans and a few pieces of corn. Once, they brought my salad back it was the same wilted salad bowl just now with the chicken thrown in the microwave. I could've made a better salad at home unfortunately. The crab dip was pretty good though, just a lot of bread more than dip. Also, I understand a char on bread but this just looks sad. read more

Decent but not for me. First off I was really surprised at the appetizer selection, for a place that screams bar food (loud, crowded & roudy) there was not a great selection. Like where's my potatoes skins? For my main dish I got the Crab Cake meal with onion rings, the crab cake was great as it was cooked well and not too much mayo but my onion rings were cooked to a burn crisp so I didn't touch them. Just because I ask well done doesn't mean I want them burnt, jusg crispy and not soggy. My mother got the Shrimp Scampi and it was cooked so much the shrimp turned to rubber and it wasn't even eatten. Menu isn't for me and I won't be back and thats sad because there aren't too many places to choose from in this town and it smells really good when I walk by but first impressions wasnt so great. This PUB grill has an enclosed patio with umbrella tables outside; kind-of a sports bar inside with a dining room having tables when things get Normal once again. Food is good, but need to use your phone to get the prices! Today was my second day trying this place. Three other customers came to this restaurant after I arrived, which passed 35 min. All three customers were given a menu and served drinks, and their order was taken. Well, I understand I am not privileged white, but I believe my dollar is the same as the others. I don't know if this is the restaurant's culture, but this will be my last. memories has always been a popular go-to, but they took prices off the entire menu. the reasoning was because of the fluctuating beef prices. for seafood, a market price is normal, but I feel like this is just an attempt to rack up a high bill considering the entire menu no longer shows prices. such a shame. read more

i've gotten my family take out from here for years but today i stopped and ate in for the first time and i will say i was heavily disappointed. the dining room was extremely unsanitary with flies everywhere and had to send back a salad with the power to make your tongue numb just from the avocado. our waiter was not punctual in the least. waited at least 10 minutes to even be noticed after seating ourselves. and another 20 just waiting for the check. read more

We were neither wowed nor disappointed, though the empty restaurant and bar. combined with the ample competition throughout the shopping center, suggest this venue may not last forever. Typical sports bar fare, though my Salmon BLT was better than most and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the Fontina Chop. Waitstaff was competent and the bar was filled with plenty of hi-definition televisions. Pricing was very fair for the quality and caliber of the food; compares favorably with Green Turtle and Glory Days, which one may consider competitors. The menu is a little more limited than those sports bar chains. One wonders whether the low ratings were on nights when the kitchen was overwhelmed; our Wednesday visit was quite the opposite. We'd be back if again in the area in search of similar convenience, though MCH is not the type of venue worthy of a special destination or unusual effort. read more

I cannot express how dissatisfied I am with this place. This is the first bad review I have ever written. I had dinner and a few drinks. Everything was fine and I had conversations with the staff. I asked if I could buy drinks for them when they got off work and they said I could. I have done this several times in the past with other establishments. They charged me for 7 additional drinks on my tab which I questioned and asked if everyone was ok with me buying them a drink and they said they were. 10 minutes before closing they kicked me out. I stated that I had bought drinks for the staff and was ok not drinking myself but wanted to see the staff get the drinks I had purchased. They refused and the jerk who was managing kicked me out. I said I was fine to leave but reimburse me for the drinks i had purchased. He refused and kicked me out. I stated that it was fraud to charge me for something that was clearly fraudulent. He basically threatened violence if I didn't leave. I have been in foreign countries where this kind of bait and switch and threats of violence wouldn't stand. Took my car club here (25 cars!) on 7/11/2020 as part of our scenic drive across Howard and Frederick Counties. Plenty of parking, and we were all seated in groups of four to six people. The food and the service were terrific, and this is definitely on our "go again" list for future events. I'm definitely trying a burger next time, since they looked SO good. read more

The food is AWESOME if you're dining in the restaurant. Highly recommend NOT getting their food to go! Quoted 30 minutes from order time actually waited 52 minutes. The lady wearing popsicle leggings and a tank top said it was because they were soooo busy but looked around to see a mostly empty dining area. We have ordered from there multiple times and no matter what we order the food is soggy. I ordered Boom Boom tacos with sweet potato fries for my side. The fries were inside the taco and most were so soggy I couldn't pick them up. Would encourage mgmt to consider different ways of protecting / separating food. read more

Ok so definitely happy that we were able to go out and eat after cooped up in the house for months. The outdoor seating was decent the sun was blaring down on us for about an hour. But once that went down and we actually enjoyed it. My daughter did not like the mac & cheese for the kids too much. But my husband got the chicken Gyro and he loved it.
