Why is this place not in my 'backyard'? It doesn't get any better than a neighborhood pub where "everyone knows your name"! Backlick Road is not exactly the mecca of trendy bars or restaurants but while 'yelping for bars', Shooters came up and yelpers provided us with guidance! We came when the fabulous 'Skins' were playing on Sunday and we have also come for their happy hour! The place surrounds itself with large flat screen tv's, so every seat in the place is good. The bar area is cozy and the staff is extremely friendly! BUT, the real draw is their variety of snacks, entrees, and drinks! Pricing is very reasonable. Beers $4 and they have 'shooters' and mixed cocktails. For happy hour(4-7), then have $3 imports/$2 domestics and $5 appetizers. Since we were starving, we pretty much tried most of the menu selection. They serve an international selection of pork/shrimp egg rolls, pork/shrimp won tons, Tator Tots that rock this side of Fairfax County, and believe it not Won Ton Soup! For the land lubber, burger loving, sandwich eating guys like my hubby and his friend, there are Hamburger Subs, Shrimp Po'Boys, and other man hand type grabby foods! It's not just the variety of food, it's the quality! The won tons and the egg rolls were freshly made. The food comes out hot unlike other 'sports bars'. Shooters was not what I was expecting, at all. Based on the name I was expecting a hole-in-the-wall pool spot. This was not that. Yes, the space is small but there are no pool tables in sight. On the night we visited it was poker tables and a couple of dart boards. Not what I anticipated at all. But the food was AMAZING!! We ordered the combo fried rice and the old bay wings. Both "American hot" and they were perfect!! I think this just became my go to fried rice spot! Next time I definitely want to try the Ramen soup. I can't wrap up without mentioning T. Our super sweet and very helpful server who seems to be on top of the whole shebang while keeping guests engaged and taken care of. My friends and I were looking for a place to play billiards and get some drinks but were having a hard time finding somewhere people didn't smoke inside. We came into Shooters and despite them not having a billiards table, they were some of the friendliest and welcoming staff and group of patrons I've ever seen in an establishment. They welcomed us warmly, set us up at a table, and got our menus to us quickly. We ordered the Nachos with added chicken with some drinks. They do not have any draft beer but the prompt service for all your favorite bottled beer is more than enough to keep you happy. The nachos were excellent and our waitress/bartender checked in on us throughout our night. There is a lot touchscreen jukebox that I believe works with an app on your phone--some patrons were having a great time playing songs and dancing together. We played darts and were laughing with the staff. Their bar and dining room are clean; the restrooms are super clean as well. Went in on a Friday night around 7pm. The bartender instantly greeted us and explained the drink menu to us. I got a nice pineapple grenadine with tequila for $5! That's a steal. Found this wonderful gem by chance. Looking for something to do with my special lady we looked at local yelp reviews and this place stood out. This is a little nook located in the center of a shopping center. On the night we went it was poker night and the place was full. The owner "Tiny T" lol was in high spirits and she welcomed us as we walked in. The food was amazing, I ordered the chicken wings and a additional appetizer. I was so pleased with service & food I would recommend to all I know. The drink special are plentiful and tasty, televisions are on wall so you don't miss ongoing sports. The staff is friendly and truly make this place a great location. The Wonton soup is outstanding, the Rockin Ramen is a delight "even on a hot day" LOL. I missed ny auto train to florida and had to spend the night in va. Went to this cool bar. Pretty chill and the patrons seemed like regulars. While waiting, Ty, our server asked us what games we were watching and how we wanted the tvs tuned. She accommodated hockey, basketball and Monday night NFL on the sets on the wall. It's a small place that seats about 40. There are six flat screen tvs and a bar. A small stage were live entertainment performs occasionally. The interior is modern and clean. The wings are truly top notch. Crunchy and saucy. Ours were spicy Asian and accompanied by grilled peppers and such. Better than any chain Resturant or most local independents. The staff are fun and helpful. There is a great neighborhood bar vibe with good prices. Is come back or recommend as a meeting place for friends. This establishment is in the top 5 of my favorite places. It is a family owned bar and that is reflected in the welcoming vibes within. The list of shooters to select from is extensive and having tried them all, it is hard to select one favorite. But if I had to pick a favorite, I'll favor the hurricane hulk, simply because it sounds like a manly drink. Toni is routinely surprising my wife and me with new drinks. She is one hell of a mixologist. What compliments a great drink? The bloody amazing food. The best wings in the area, my favorite being oldbay/american spicy. Amazing mussels and clams. The best combo fried rice I've ever had. And I've had fried rice everywhere in Japan while living there for 7 years. Or if folks want to debate China, I've been there done that. Shooters is right on target. If you are looking for a locally owned friendly neighborhood bar, this is it. While the décor is simple and unassuming, it is comfortable with a number of flat screen TVs so you can see the action from anywhere in the bar. The drinks are a good value and the food is far above the normal bar food with the perfect mix of old standards and Asian favorites. To cap it off, the people and the service are wonderful.
