These people are boss! They all work so hard and create great food. We're from out of town and came here only cause of the Yelp review. It did not disappoint!! Pizza was delicious and beer selection was great. The staff is excellent. Make sure to stop by if you're in town. Update: we came back for a second visit and I'm even more impressed. The food is great but I really want to talk about the service. The sincerity, honesty, and just downright goodness of these people is really admirable. Everyone I talked to (4-5 people) was helpful, friendly, and really went above and beyond to make sure my order was perfect. I don't know who does the hiring here but they're doing a great job. Every person in this kitchen is awesome. Food wise, my Greek salad was perfect and very tasty, and the Hey Meat! Pizza was seriously good. My daughter had a plain cheese pizza and loved it. Amazing place. Ordered a large pepperoni and a large supreme while on vacation in Memphis for carry out. Only cost $38 and was absolutely amazing in taste and quality. Also, the only thing that had us wait was there was a line when we picked up the pizza and brought it back to the hotel. read more

Overall a pretty good place to get a slice. The food is good, and this from a guy who grew up in NYC area. I love pizza and while theirs pales in comparison to the real deal, for Memphis it's damn good. I've had many a slice from there and they all are very tasty. The sandwiches and Calzone are also tops on my list there. It's kind of Spartan, but that does add to it's charm. A couple of things you'll want to remember are always give yourself extra time as service is slow. They are usually pretty full so just be prepared for it. This is not because the waitresses, but the kitchen. Oh and the waitresses are usually super-cute. Another thing to remember is to always make sure you leave with your debit card. Twice they forgot to give it back when I left. I would say it's one of my favorite pizza places in Memphis. If you're looking for real NY pizza go to Brooklyn. There are places in Memphis that promise NY style and yet have never met my expectations. Memphis Pizza Cafe promises good pizza in a chilled out environment with decent music. Two stars because the food is good! However, I've been to this location now twice and both times, we waited forever (40+ minutes) to get our food. We had the same waiter both times and she forgot to bring out my husband's drink during both visits (never brought it out the first visit even after reminding her and she needed one reminder and a glare from me during the second visit). She also never checked up on us or refilled our drinks like she did with other tables. People who sat down after us received their food before us, again, BOTH TIMES!!! I knew coming to Memphis I wasn't going to find pizza like home(CT, NJ, NY) and I'll admit I am a biased when it comes to pizza but I was really disappointed in this place. Waitress took a long time to come take our drink orders, then took even longer to come back, even though it was just water. The pizza took a good 30 minutes to come out, and was a huge let down. The cheese was burnt and crunchy and the sauce tasted sweet, like it had sugar in it. The crust tasted like frozen pizza, my first impression was that it was actually microwave pizza. The chicken on the Buffalo chicken was also burnt to the point I thought I was just eating Buffalo sauce on a saltine cracker. After she took our pizza order, we never saw the waitress again, so I had ration my water to make sure I had enough to finish the meal, however, she promptly came with the check even though we hadn't even asked for it. This is my personal favorite pizza in Memphis. The atmosphere is casual and feels very MemphIs-y to me. The pizza has a thin crispy crust- which is not everyone's jam, but it's definitely mine. I usually do a 10-inch half pepperoni/half veggie and it's perfect! Service is usually good. The pizza was so hard it hurt my gums. The waitress asked if I wanted to get a discount and my answer was no. I dont walk into a business looking for discounts and how to save money. If you think this place is good, head to the doctor and get him to run a test for extra chromosomes. My biggest problem with this place is that they even call it pizza - it's nothing but too-sweet sauce and low grade cheese served on a giant cracker. The "Italian Sausages" are tiny balls of meat similar to what you'll find on one of the cheap, generic pizzas in your grocer's freezer, placed on sale because it's expired and nobody wants it - except not that good. The restaurant is dirty to boot, and is decorated with "awards" from the early 90s, which bolsters my argument that none of the tables have been cleaned since Desert Storm. There used to be a saying - "avoid it like the plague." It's since been changed to "avoid it like Memphis Pizza Cafe." Its served with marinara sauce which complements it perfectly. It only comes with cheese so that you can order which ever toppings you want. I had mine with sausage and beef. That tells me they are prepared by the order unlike some places that precook and reheat. It would be great for two people to split if you aren't hungry or if you are and still want a slice of pizza. This time I ate Memphis Pizza Cafe, it was take-out, so I cannot comment on service. However, from my past experiences, the service seems to always be pretty solid (taking into consideration how long it takes to cook a pizza). I also love the laid back atmosphere of the restaurants. I usually order the exact same thing every time I go, a side salad with Ranch dressing (they have great Ranch), and one or two slices (depending on how hungry I am) on Ultimate Cheese pizza, add spinach, tomato, and cajun chicken. This is the ultimate slice of pizza. With years of experience and trial-and-error under my belt, I finally found the perfect slice of pizza at Pizza Cafe. This is it. However, this time I was sharing with the masses, so I did not get to order what I want. We ordered a meat lovers and a BBQ Chicken pizza. I prefer either no meat or only chicken on my pizza, so I opted to eat the latter. The BBQ Chicken pizza was great. It wasn't my typical order, but I have never had anything bad at Memphis Pizza Cafe. If I had to compromise again, I would opt for this. I love their thin crusts. They are always perfectly crispy, with the right amount of sauce, cheese, and toppings. Memphis Pizza Cafe, in my opinion, is the best pizza joint in Memphis. I know many that agree with me. I hate that I waited so long to try this place since moving to Memphis. I have heard good things about it from multiple people. I will say that I do love Chicago style pizza, however I did love this thin crust. I had the bbq pizza and it was awesome. My wife does not eat meat so she scraped some of the meat off and took a bite and she said she wanted to order it next time without the meat. Menphis Pizza Cafe has some of the best pizza! My first time here was years ago, and when I first discovered this place I was eating here like once a week. It was my day at work among the group I eat with for lunch to pick where we will go for our Friday outing. Since Ihaven't been here in about a year I thought it would be good to go. Did I pick correctly or what?!?! Yessssssssssss!! It was lunch time therefore busy but as soon as we sat down we were serviced. It took about 15-20 minutes for food to come out. One of the greatest things about this place is that you buy by the slice! I ordered two slices of pizza (ultimate cheese and bbq chicken..btw my favorites)! I finally figured out that I have been to Memphis Pizza Cafe months later, after being told by the Honey Bunny (fiancee). MPC is the first pizza place I've been to in Memphis, and sorry to say, I'm not impressed. After hearing rave reviews about MPC and wanting to try it, then learning that MPC was the "terrible pizza place" that the Honey Bunny and I frequented along with her future med school classmates, I was severely puzzled and disappointed. My #1 type of pizza is a New York style pizza, but I like all styles of pizza, from Chicago style pizza to thin crust pizza. MPC has a thinner type of pizza; it's not totally thin crust but not New York style pizza either. I remember that the crust was okay. The cheese wasn't horrible, but it may only have been a small step above the cheese on a frozen pizza. I really don't remember the sauce too much. Holistically I remember the pizza as just being barely okay, but it definitely left a lot to be desired. Honestly, I'd probably rather have Papa John's or Domino's pizza. I'm extremely puzzled as to why people rave about this place. They do have a sweet picture of Patrick Swayze on the wall though, so those are a few points right there. The beers were relatively cheap as well, so I guess that's a plus too. All in all it's really a mediocre pizza place with cheap beer. Look elsewhere if you're looking for good pizza. read more

I spent quite a bit of time in Memphis -- 17 years. The first time I had MPC I did not care for it. Now, I don't miss it when I come into town. Friendly staff. Quick service. Never rushed. Pizza? It's thin (cracker) crust. But it's much better than the mass produced thin crust pizzas. Do t get me wrong -- I like Papa Johns thin crust, but this is a step above.
