Exline's Pizza is like one of those must visit places. They have several locations throughout the city and all of them that I have experienced pretty much has the same vibe. As for the pizza, I always order the Around the World. It is packed with beef, pepperoni, sausages, and a variety of sautéed vegetable toppings. The price is a bit much for the Pizza, but they do offer lunch and dinner time specials. Last night, I dined in with my family (for the first time) and we had a great time. The server was really friendly and made us feel welcome. I will definitely be going back to visit! read more

I ordered the special pizza with everything and I could not find any sauce on the pizza. It was only meat, cheese and bread with no sauce. The service is always friendly and attentive. They make you feel at home whether eating in or take out. The atmosphere is pub style with old style tables and chairs and a large big screen tv in the center. There is bar seating, arcade games and a wall of fame. There is extra seating and smaller television in the back. Trophies are everywhere and the all AMERICAN FLAG at the bar. I usually purchase the fried chicken finger salad which is plenty to spare at $9.25. The salad has plenty of everything, the chicken is always cooked fresh and the salad is crisp. I couldn't remember all the reasons I didn't like it and not sure why I wanted to try it again, but I figured if they still claim to have the best pizza in town for over 40 years, they must have something. They only offer one dough. Frozen. It sucks. In over 40 years, they still haven't learned to make dough. There was no sauce. I ordered the meat pizza. If you like having too many toppings, you might like it. It was too much for me and way off balance. Too much salt from the meat. I left half my $14 pizza on the table. Didn't even want to save it. Best pizza on Austin Peay is ridiculously SLOW; ordered three pizzas in a week; each time they tell you 30 minutes; I've waited almost an hour each trip. This part of town isn't exactly safe to be standing round for a pizza. Pizza order 6/12/18 with two tamales was good; tamales were still wrapped in paper and moist; must be a different cook there on 6/14/18, both 6 inch pizzas were burnt on top and dried out, the two tamales were unwrap and dry. Awful! This AustinPeay Exlines gave me the Worst, burnt-UNCUT-brick- hard crusted pizza I have ever tasted. What kind of management would give a customer such garbage? Only 3 customers in the place so I cannot believe it took an hour and 9 minutes to give me a burnt, disgusting pizza. What happened to the toppings? Cold sausage and scarce smushed strange meat found on there. No BBQ topping. Little to no sauce. Shouldn't be called a meat muncher; was more like a jerky plastic crunch muncher. The Crust was so nasty and hard that I had to throw it away. The stray animals did not even eat it!!! The little bit of cheese on there was cooked so long that it was like a firm plastic. Cashier was nice. The rest of the atmosphere seemed to be in slow motion. They allow solicitors to visit and beg for money; how unwelcoming. I was showed the pizza product before leaving but truly thought it would be ok because of the Exlines name. Turned out to be a total disappointment! So disgusted that I do not care to return and complain. I noticed that each customer was leaving with plates and not pizza. I see why. You got $40 this time but never again. Retried this location after a bad experience 2 years ago and I'm glad I did! I missed Exlines salads so much. First I want to say that the young lady who answered the phone and took my order was so incredibly sweet. Customer service was definitely worth 5 stars. We ordered the turkey chef salad and added fried chicken to it, 3 piece wings and a small pepperoni pizza. Our son loved his pizza, my husband loved his wings and we split the salad and we all loved it. There was a lot of celery in my salad which I don't remember being in Exline's salads before but I do see that it's listed in the ingredients on the menu. It was just too much for me, I will remember to ask for no celery the next time. Overall though it was a completely different experience from my last visit. Don't know if I will ever try the chicken philly again lol but at least I can go back to getting the awesome salads I love. And a little FYI...if you are looking for more "salad" and less toppings then this is not the place for you! Lol! They piled the toppings on!!! read more

I want to like this place. I really do. I've lived in Memphis for a few years now and many people recommend it. Unfortunately, I do not. After repeated disappointments, I was just frustrated enough to write this review after I went in with a friend for a weekday, mid-afternoon lunch and wasn't even acknowledged after almost 10 minutes of standing by the counter waiting. It wasn't even busy. The person being waited on had a large order but it didn't require all 3 employees undivided attention, or shouldn't have if they were competent. We ended up leaving. Prior to this I was already displeased with the LONG waits when picking up food and the prices rivaling pizzerias in Manhattan, despite this chain occupying dingy buildings in questionable areas of Memphis. The pizza is decent. The crust can be tough and the cheese is always skimpy. But if you like sausage, you'll love this place because it's baked on in one huge slab that's thicker than the crust itself. Personally I find it overpowering. The cheese sticks are severely lacking cheese and the dipping sauce that they come with has a strange vinegar taste. I planned to try their salad but my last visit was the proverbial straw. A place with their reputation needs to step their game up in service and food, especially for those prices. I won't be back. read more

I have always liked Exline's pizza. I'm from Chicago and it's hard for me to like local pizza, but this one is a solid, solid pie. But please note: the Raleigh location is the ONLY location I will go to. I've been to the one in bartlett and I guess they toned down the sauce for the old people or something. As a long time customer of Exlines', I can tell you I am very disappointed the Ultimate Nachos were taken off the menu. Things like that is what set you guys apart from other pizzerias. I wish you would consider putting them back on the menu. A group of us would always order beer, pizza, and Ultimate Nachos. The Raleigh location seemed to be a shell of it's former self...like a ghost town when we last went. Local pizza spot pretty good service and accurate orders. We Usually get one of the speciality pizzas. Meat munchers without the bbq. The bbq on the meat munchers is probably frozen and takes away from the other meats. The 6 inch lunch special is pretty nice includes salad and pizza option. For a minute we stopped going because pizzas weren't as good anymore and the crust was hard on the bottom and now things are good again. We loved the grilled chicken salads but they changed the chicken so the meat is not as good anymore. I would still recommend ordering food here. read more

I ordered a chicken salad and it was the worst salad I ever had. I'm used to ordering a chicken salad with it chopped up. Instead I was given shredded chicken and the chicken was cold and salty. As always - my cheeseburger today was the absolute best burger in the entire Memphis. Not sure why anyone would eat those junk burgers from the fast food dives when they can have the best burger that ever was from Exline's at 2935 Austin Peay Highway. I will say the fries that I got today with my burger was a waste of money ($2.75). They were overcooked and hard and ---- well ---- really not worth trying to chew. This was my first time to try the fries, and I'm not sure if I'll try again on that --- will just stick with the chips the next time which routinely come with the burger. Still, though, I am giving a 5 star for this particular Exline's because it continuously delivers the same quality of burger every time I get it (which is pretty often). Also, the staff is always nice and friendly and efficient in their job (except maybe the cook who cooked my fries). PEOPLE - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY at those fast food joints, if a good burger is what you want. Don't even waste your money at those more upscale restaurants if a burger is what you want. You can get the best burger in the entire city at Exline's at 2935 Austin Peay --- for $5.00 (with cheese and all the dressings).
