Really expensive for what you get. It was $40 for 3 empanadas and one choripan sandwich which came with no sides. No drinks. The empanadas had a good chew factor and the fillings were tasty. The chimchurri on the sandwich was good but I didn't care for the bread. It reminded me of bread we used to make in the bread maker. We stopped for a light lunch and were the only customers. By the time we left. The dining room was filling up. The owner answered my questions and stepped us through the menu. We took a seat in the small dining room and within minutes complex aromas from our meal prep surrounded us. My belly started to rumble but within a short time our empanadas arrived. We decided on carne asada and pollo empanadas sharing both. Pollo was stuffed with peppers and onions. Very flavorful. The Carne be asada was only cubed beef. The flavor was fantastic but there were no vegetables. I purchased the Pico ( not the menu name) diced tomato onion oralegano red wine vinegar and oil. I ate the salsa with each empanada and thought it was fantastic and totally elevated the flavor of the empanada. I had read other reviews recommending the zuchinni. It did not disappoint! We love churos and had to order them here. These were unexpected. Maybe I'm used to mecican churos; fried dough, to covered in cinamon and sugar. As you can see in the photo- no cinamon or sugar sprinles (maybe the tiniest amount) House made dulche de leche is served on the side. Perfect for dipping the churo! I really enjoyed this churro. I loved how knowledgeable the staff was on the menu, they know it like the back of their hand and make your meal by hand. It's a small eat-in restaurant which gave me some European vibes for sure (if you've ever been). I'll definitely be back to try the lamb, chimichurri, pizza, and sandwiches. It's a gluten free paradise! We got 6 empanadas for around $25 and the ranch. We loved all of them but would say the chicken and pork are top tier tasty! We tried those two, plus the chorizo which was well seasoned, carne which was juicy, papa y queso which was like a fried pierogi, and the Espinoza which was spinach and cheese. They were all tasty and the ranch is made with fresh herbs hence the colors. It has a cooling effect like the a cucumber sauce. I would definitely recommend a sauce, they have a few with a kick to them which I think would enhance the empanadas! We came in on a Saturday evening and we were the only customers there. The inside is a little small but there are several tables and there's art on their wall (some even for sale). It was only Chef Joel and one other worker there but you can tell they care about their customers and food quality. It was our first time here so she explained the menu and let us take a seat wherever. Once you're ready to order, you head up to the counter. They advertise they are gluten free, soy free, grain free, nut and sugar free. I tried some of their empanadas and the "carne" was my favorite - packed with so much flavor. They are a bit greasy though. The steak was perfectly cooked to a medium rare temperature and the plantain chips were crispy and well seasoned. You need to try this place. More than just once. Choripan is only a mile from my house. I've been meaning to go here for over a year. I've tried it tonight and was glad I did. I had the carne empanadas, chicken wings, grilled chicken sandwich, potato salad and sweet potato fries. All were very good, the empanadas was great and my wife enjoyed the grill chicken and sweet potato fries. Apart from this I really believe in the mission that Joel has committed. Choripan is easily my favorite Argentine restaurant in Columbus, and it's not even close. The restaurant prides itself being free of gluten, nuts, grains, soy, sugar, and seed-oil, but the food there is so delicious that you would never know that all these things are missing from your order. The restaurant has a casual ambiance, the service is friendly and efficient, and the food is made fresh to order. We ordered the carne empanadas, the Lomito (grilled beef sandwich), the Pechuga (grilled chicken sandwich), and a side of plantain chips. All the dishes arrived at our table quickly, and they were all good-sized portions. The most amazing part of our dining experience at Choripan was that you couldn't tell that their food is free of so many ingredients that are common of everyday food items and still be this tasty! I highly recommend Choripan, and wish I lived closer so I could visit them more often. read more

Truth be told, we got here about 50 minutes before the scheduled closing time. It may have been a slow day, so there was not a lot of "excitement" when we walked in the door. The shop has plenty of ambience, and could be picked up and moved to any small town in Argentina from Mendoza to Salta, and the photos on the wall and the tables add to that. There's a few soccer photos that primarily spend time paying homage to Messi,, but there is no reverence to Boca juniors, River, or Quillmes. In a way, it's refreshing. The tostones are ranked either the best or next to the best in town. The look of the empanadas gave us hope. The drawback was that these were greasy because they were fried. When we opened the container, there was grease that coated the entire bottom. The lamb was delicious option, but it was tough to try the others because the amount of grease. That said, it's probably the second best empanadas in the city that one can order from a restaurant (my friends and their mothers are still the best). We tried 4 different sauces all of which were fantastic. Best sweet potato fries I have ever had. Be sure to save room for the Apple Friters. This is a small place, you order at the kitchen window. A very happy friendly man took our order and severed our food. The atmosphere is simple and clean with many framed original colorfull drawings hanging on the walls. My friend and I, both of whom can't have gluten, came for lunch this week, after wanting to check it out for awhile. It's a small little place, but there are several tables. You order at the window, and the employee was very helpful. We both ordered empanadas, as well as a dessert. Being vegetarian, there aren't tons of options for me here, but I got a root empanada and churros. My friend ordered a duck empanada and fritters. I thought my empanada was good, but the ratio of crispy dough to filling was a bit off, I couldn't taste the filling much. My friend enjoyed hers though. The star was the fritter- it was so dang delicious, and especially more so since getting gluten free fritters is a rarity. To put it simply... this is my favorite restaurant ON EARTH! My fiancé and I were working in Columbus for a few months and made this our go to place for lunch. When you walk in, you will feel like you are actually in a small cafe in Argentina. The food is amazing. All of it. Seriously. Walk in, pick out anything even if it seems like something you wouldn't like, order it. I PROMISE you will love it. Everything is amazing. Oh and did I mention it's also ALL 100% GLUTEN FREE AND SEED OIL FREE?! Seriously, the chef is a wizard. Joel, the owner and chef is always so friendly and welcoming. He remembers names and orders. He cares about his customers and their experience. One of my favorite parts of the experience is when he comes to our table and talks about how he made our meal. He is so proud of his work, as he should be. We love hearing about the care and craft he puts into everything he makes. As a born and raised Argentinian, I have never been more insulted by a so-called "Argentinian" restaurant in my life. This place is a complete and utter disgrace to the culture, an absolute mockery of what true Argentinian cuisine should be. First, let's talk about the absurd, borderline criminal pricing. A single choripán for $20? Are you joking? If you charged that in Argentina, people would riot in the streets and burn the place to the ground. There is absolutely no justification for this robbery. Yes, there are costs of operation, but let's be real--a sausage between two buns should never cost $20. You could buy an entire asado for what they're charging for one sandwich! The audacity is beyond comprehension. But the biggest slap in the face? The gluten-free menu. Look, I understand dietary restrictions--my mom is celiac--but to advertise Argentinian food as gluten-free first and foremost is a disgrace. There should at least be REAL, authentic options with gluten to preserve the true taste of the culture. A milanesa being gluten-free is blasphemy. Milanesa should be crispy, flavorful, and made the right way--not this overpriced, tasteless imitation. And $20 for a single milanesa? I can walk into any Mexican grocery store, spend $10, and get five to eight proper milanesas that actually taste good. This is beyond unacceptable. I am in complete shock that this place has the nerve to butcher an entire culture and that nobody has called them out for it. Very good staff! Amazing, fresh food!! My husband and I made a pretty expensive online order as our first time trying Choripan. We got 12 empanadas, 8.5 oz bottle of chimichurri, a side of habenero sauce, a side of palta, a side of salsa criolla, 3 large fries, and 1 large plantain chips. All of this came up around $90. Fries were good and fresh, not frozen. They were very soft and could have been cooked longer to account for the steaming in the container. Plantain chips were amazingly good. They were crispy and fresh. We mostly got the papa y queso empanadas, 2 carne, and 3 queso. The carne was amazing and my husbands favorite! It is very juicy and flavorful and has a very good crust. The papa y queso was my favorite. Mashed potatoes and cheese. How could you go wrong. It was so good. The flavors, the simplicity all paired with the freshness of the habanero sauce, palta, and salsa criolla. The habanero sauce was hot but had so much good flavor. You could even taste the fruitiness of the habanero in it. The queso was very good and flavorful as well. Everything gets 5 stars except for the chimichurri, the owner warned my husband that it's think and it tastes better the next day. We ordered the 8.5 oz bottle, so everytime we poured it out, all we got was oil. So, it's not so great, and there weren't any empanadas left over to try next day. We gobbled everything up. Delicious, gluten free empanadas of many unique varieties in a small, casual restaurant tucked between other bars, restaurants and shops. The pulled pork "Puerco" and spinach and cheese "Espinaca" were both delicious. I loved the ranch sauce with fresh dill. The tostones were very thinly sliced, crispy, and flavored with lime. Outstanding, excellent and impressive - I was shocked this Argentine grill's incredibly delicious food is all gluten, grain, soy, nut, and sugar-free. My wife recently began eating gluten-free, so she was REALLY HAPPY to find Choripan. I've been to Argentina, and really love Argentine food, so I was also REALLY HAPPY to find Choripan. Chef Joel Linik is a Certified Executive Chef, and more interestingly (for me), he was sous chef for Chef Hartmut Hankde at Handke's Cuisine in the Brewery District. If you weren't fortunate enough to dine at Handke's, it was (at the time) probably the finest restaurant in Columbus. Chef Handke is a Certified Master Chef, has competed in over 50 national and international culinary competitions, and won 38 gold medals - more than any other chef in America. Anyone that can cook for Chef Handke can cook for me - any time... The empanadas were fantastic - we ordered 6 different kinds, and they were all incredibly flavorful. You'd never know the crunchy, flaky dough is gluten-free. Fantastic. And they reheated wonderfully and were still delicious the next day. The Milanese sandwich (breaded steak) was wonderful. The chicken wings with house-made chimichurri sauce were very flavorful. All in all, the food is very high quality, as you'd expect from a highly trained chef, and delicious. For me, the fact it's all high-quality gluten, grain, soy, nut, and sugar-free is a bonus, but I'm going back because the food is really, really, really tasty. It's nice to eat a meal where you know what's going into your food. They are so clear about what they put into their food and what they don't. I can enjoy a lot of really flavorful, interesting food from here, knowing that I'm safe eating it. The flavor is there, the variety is there, and I have really enjoyed anything that I've gotten. It's very tough to find gluten-free fried pickles and empanadas anywhere. I will continue being a customer here, and if you haven't tried it already, you should give it a shot! Been wanting to try this place for a while since I can't say I've ever had Argentinian food. What held me back for the longest time was the fact that they are completely gluten-free. And I like gluten lol. We got a gift certificate from my sweet coworker so we decided to give this place a try. We ordered 18 wings: 6 habanero, 6 lemon pepper, and 6 chimichurri. I liked the lemon pepper best since it had a subtle hint of lemon. The habanero was waaaay too spicy for me to eat. One bite had me sweating and tearing. And I like spicy food so it was really really hot. Tbh I thought the wings were just ok and a little on the bland side. If anyone is wondering, the wings are normal sized, of anything on the smaller side. We also ordered a carne empanada and a chorizo empanada. Both were so delicious!! I couldn't even tell they were gluten free. We would definitely come back for the empanadas alone. The empanada were about the size of my hand so 2-3 per person would be sufficient if that was your main course. The last thing we ordered were the sweet potato fries. They had such a nice flavor, I'm not sure what oil they cook with but it was fresh and a nice change of pace. I wish they were all crispy since they're sliced so thinly. It's possible that they got a little more soggy during the transport home since we got everything as takeout. Overall, great first experience and will be back to try more menu items. I wanted to like this place more than I did. The staff was super friendly and attentive. My sister and I picked this place on a whim as we were headed on a trip East of Columbus. I'm not sure how long they were open, but it looked like a bed sheet banner hanging over the entry. I'm not in need of a gluten-free diet, and I think that is the niche they are driving for. I think the gluten-free crowd gets very excited about the make-do recipes and ingredient substitutions that enable them to "enjoy" breads and empanada crusts. The sauces and meats and fillings were all good. But the whole meal wasn't as good as I would have liked from the strange textures and consistencies of the gluten-free components. It was fun too try the new-to-me foods. When I read the category of this restaurant as Argentinian I didn't even know what to expect. It is gluten and grain free, yet the fry everything in tallow oil (beef fat), so I wouldn't say it is vegan or vegetarian friendly. They aren't quite family friendly as there are no high chairs, yet they said they are working on this. They're just getting started, so give them a bit of grace while they work out any kinks. The menu is small, but mighty: empanadas, sandwiches, wings, salads, and sides. The chimichurri wings are outstanding (that homemade sauce tho!), the tapioca flour empanadas are crispy and perfect, and the fried chicken sandwich... oh man... a homemade bun (that's like a biscuit) and perfectly-crispy chicken. But be warned: it comes with a spicy sauce, so skip that if you love your intestines. One thing to note: Chorpian is not vegetarian-forward. I love to support these types of places. It's minimal, intimate and quaint. They have 3-4 tables; I believe in the whole area. So for all my people that are living that none glutenous life, this place is for you. Everything is made fresh scratch, from the appetizers, sides, entrees and even the sauces. If you are not accustomed to a gluten-free restaurant, let me just inform you that your taste buds will be in for a shock. I got the beef empanadas, wings (lemon-pepper, chipotle barbeque and Buffalo butter) and the fries. The freshness of everything is just incredible. I loved the taste of their fresh-cut fries. This place is located in a small plaza, and it has plenty of free parking. There are only a few tables inside, but it's very clean and the staff are super friendly. I went with my sister, and we arrived right as they opened for lunch, so we had no problems getting a table. We ordered the chorizo empanada (2) and the mushroom empanada (2), as well as chimichurri wings. Also got fries to share because fries are always essential. This was plenty for two people. We were both super full (but finished everything). Because it was his birthday, the chef very graciously gifted us a free tuna empanada with our meal. I agree with a previous reviewer that Argentina food is not meant to be gluten free. I just wanted a greasy oily empanada with crispy breading. The beef tasted good that it was filled with though. The main reason for a low rating was the chimichurri wings. While the exterior was crispy, the interior was flavorless and watery. Also maybe the red wine vinegar gave a fishy off taste to them.
