Taking Jan's advice, I got one of her lemon cupcakes and also a white chocolate bar too, and I am not overstating it when I say that was the best lemon cupcake I have ever had. It was super delicious, and it had a lemon paste in the middle of the frosting. Super delicious! The white chocolate bar was also very tasty as well, it just melts into your mouth. Service was top-notch. It's a small store, and with a very kind lady like her it works out perfectly. I couldn't decide what I wanted and she was very patient with me, she is really such a sweet lady. It's nice to go here and have a chat and get A-plus cupcakes instead of just going to a grocery store and getting those B-minus cupcakes. Inside was just a tiny corner shop off of the road. Don't be fooled, it's not just the delicious treats in there, there's some of these things that are actually kinda funny. As you enter, you can see these makeup bags or something alike with pictures of dogs or other things. I even got a German Shepherd bag last trip! There's also these notebooks with funny jokes on them. I thought it was pretty nice. I think I don't have to say much, but Cupcakes by Jan is exactly what a cupcake place needs to be. Ive seen the pictures on her site,so I know she could do this. If she couldn't, she shouldve done a practice run and at least given Lindsay more than a few hours notice before dropping a bomb on what should be the happiest day of someones life. This is so insanely unprofessional! Honestly, a refund is not even enough for doing that to someone on their wedding day! I spent the day before the wedding calling every single bakery in Las Vegas, willing to pay double to get her something to be able to cut with her husband on her happy day and it was too short of notice. Not only did Darlene not apologize, she tried to pass off a bulbous, over decorated cake that looked absolutely NOTHING like the picture, saying "here's your gorgeous cake". When Lindsay expressed that it wasnt even remotely close to what they discussed, she took no accountability, offered no solution and simply said, "it can't be changed, sweetheart". Upon further conversations, she said she would "try" to make something else. At $350 for flour and sugar, it should look exactly like the picture. It honestly probably took more work to make what she presented than what Lindsay actually wanted. As a small business owner myself, I know mistakes happen, but I also know the importance of customer service, making things right and taking accountability. Word to the wise, maybe do a test run first to ensure your wedding day isn't ruined if you choose to work with Darlene.

I didn't receive a response until the end of day on Tuesday. I also called her bakery multiple times and had no answer or response-- for 4 days! By that point, I already found another bakery to handle the cake, but had I waited, I would have been left in a very bad position. As a fellow business owner, I don't say this lightly ~ the level of communication here is pretty unacceptable. It takes legit, less than a minute to acknowledge an inquiry and set expectations. A simple "I'm totally booked out" or "I'll follow up" would have demonstrated basic professionalism and respect for a potential client's time and energy. When someone goes out of their way to find your business, fill out your form, and actively try to give you money ~ silence and negligence send a very clear message about how that effort is valued. You haven't earned a client here-- and maybe that doesn't matter to you, but word of mouth is the best form of advertisement, and that matters. My response to Christy's response: It takes less than a minute to fire off an email, or simply answer your phone. There's no such thing as "Easter Monday"-- it's just Monday. When someone reaches out with a clear deadline, a quick acknowledgment isn't optional-- it's expected. Even a one-line response would have been enough for me to plan accordingly.
