The Mendez was friendly, knowledgeable and informative. Offered a great price to inspect both my HVAC and Air Conditioning systems.

Extremely rude staff…read more Family has patronized Hendrix Heating before, but when I was asked to call this company to investigate the process of installing a ductless HVAC with heatpump, this company showed its true nature: petty and vindictive. I called first thing in the morning, right as they opened, excited to start the process of updating the property (currently has no AC and only a wood stove for heat). I explained who I was, why I was calling, and what my family wanted. I explained that I was not the owner, but I'd been asked to gather information from a local installer on their behalf, and that they would be available to approve any visit for estimation. I left a callback and waited more than an hour before checking with them, again. The scheduler not only refused to answer even general questions about their services, but told me the reason she had not called me back was that she was going through messages from the weekend. I said "oh, that's fine, can you call me when you get to my name on the list?" She said "no, I won't be calling you" and ended the call. I called back and spoke with another woman and expressed "frustration" over this. I told her we absolutely understood that the property owner needs to authorize an estimation visit, but stressed that I was simply tasked, at this stage, with gathering info and recommending a vendor for the service. I asked this second rep if the company has too much business and does not see value in answering prospective customers' general inquiries, and she said "no, we definitely do have time to answer questions". I thanked her and asked that the scheduler call me back. She said she would. The call ended. No call came, and our family contacted Hendrix again only to be refused any level of service (despite, again, having spent multiple thousands of dollars with this company in the recent past), due to me being "rude" on the phone. Our family simply called a competitor -- and I urge anyone reading this to call another company. This company does not know what to do with direct prospective customer feedback that is offered without rudeness, colorful language, or raised voice. I would much rather provide this kind of feedback directly to a company and keep it out of the public sphere, but at this stage, since this company is not professional enough to handle one on one communication, I am putting this out to warn others.

However, Peak Heating & Air was by far the more professional and responsive company. From start to finish, our experience with all staff and equipment was exemplary. The initial contact, when Alicia answered the phone, was refreshingly friendly and informative. Scheduling the home visit for the evaluation for the quote was done during that call. At the evaluation, Brandon arrived exactly on time, put on shoe covers, and did a great job asking pertinent questions to ensure he understood our needs. He spent a reasonable time evaluating our current (failed) system, our home and ducting. He answered our questions quite satisfactorily. We received a very thorough estimate on two possible systems within hours of the visit. We did contact them with some questions and made our choice. Peak worked through Goodleap to get us a partial loan at a good interest rate. Alicia gave us three install dates and we chose the soonest which was within 2 weeks. Jason and Troy, our installers, arrived on time and worked diligently installing the new equipment. They were very nice guys and pleasant to have doing the work. They tested the system to be sure it was operating correctly and cleaned up well after they were done. The system worked perfectly, but after a couple weeks, we noticed the AC wasn't cooling as well as it had. We called Peak and they came out the next day and replaced 2 batteries that had come with the equipment. They noted they had seen this issue with the batteries on other units and had new batteries with them. Of course, there was no charge and our system has been working wonderfully since then. We know Peak will faithfully stand by the equipment and their work. We very highly recommend Peak!

After about a week of using the AC, the bedroom unit smelled rotten and filled with water. Short after, the living room unit did the same. A tech was sent out. He laughed and said it was impossible for the units to smell because that only happens after years of misuse. He ran both the units on each setting and at different speeds. Agreed that the units had a bad smell and said this was normal. He sprayed cleaner on the coils and would not check the lines to see why they were not working. Explained a slug probably crawled inside and he didn't need to check. The same evening, the smell came back. The next day both units smelled like rotten fish and filled with water again. That was a week ago. Still waiting for them come back and fix the issue.
