A very nice bagel shop, a bit busy on a Saturday morning. This is perfect to stop and get sandwiches before going on a hike or trip. There's tables inside to eat but no table service. I spent $3 bucks on cookies and they were terribly stale. My daughter is 3 and she couldn't even bite into them they were so hard.

Went to mend the bagel ordered hammock and cheese. On a roll not toasted. Paid almost $9 for ham egg and cheese with 2 eggs received it toasted and grilled. I love the food here! Everything is awesome! But I try to call to I put my order in and then pick it up. I would call three or four times and no answer. So I decide to just walk in and order. They had about 5 or 6 girls working the counter and the phone would ring and ring and no one was fazed by it or answered it. They weren't too busy either. read more

I raised an eyebrow when I walked in the first time and realized this wasn't a bagel shop, it was a deli, with a deli directly across the lot. I shrugged when I realized their idea of being a "coffee shop" is having bunn warmers of junk coffee to the side of the register. Today I walked up and saw a sign for their new breakfast sandwich, the minuteman, that is a direct ripoff of the Wicker Baskets 6+, one of the things they're very well known and loved for. That's it for me. That's a grenade thrown at an established, well loved, family owned, family run business. I understand wanting to succeed but there are much less slimy ways to do it. Adendum: I posted this on google too and got a defensive rebuttal from the owner calling it "not a deli" when their menu clearly lists wraps, salads, burgers, an entire section of sloppy joes, fried sides, breakfast sandwiches, "belly busters" etc. Own what you are, don't be glib about it upon being called out. They also noted having "the latest Curtis Coffee System"....ok? In 2019 coffee shops have baristas making your drink for you, not self service. I'm just disappointed at the staff, the young kids are trying but the older staff are so rude and uninviting. They've messed up my order most times I've been here. It's not worth going to anymore. What I NEED to talk about is the coffee- we got iced coffees that was clearly brewed coffee from 3+ days ago. We took one sip and mentioned the staleness to a woman who couldn't care less and didn't even offer a new one. Had to pour out immediately when we left the store. I mean, we drink McDonald's coffee happily if that tells you anything. Such a waste of money. I was hopeful but unfortunately, so far, they've missed the mark. The "bagels" are glorified rolls: huge, volumous puffs of dough and undercooked. They are using a POS (Point of Sale) system to enter and track orders which is chaotic and inefficient for a bagel place. On top of that, the info on the tickets is too small and faint that the staff can't read it without glasses (observe). There are way too many people behind the counter and as the saying goes, too many cooks... The good news is that they are brand new and will hopefully work out the kinks of the service. As for the bagels, the bakers might want to visit Brooklyn or a few local places like Bagel Bin in Bernardsville or Chester Bagel. They seemed to have got it down. read more

That said, give them an "A" for the bakery/cafe, effort and listening. On Friday 3/15 late afternoon to avoid the Saturday/Sunday rush to the long-awaited bagel place, my husband bought a selection of seven bagels to sample (pumpernickel, french toast, whole wheat) and whipped Philadelphia cream cheese from Kings (OMG - $6!!). Order taking was slow, but no surprise with a NEW operation. Bagels were fluffy and chewy. I IM'd them on facebook and had quick replies to my inquiries about daily soups. Today (Tuesday 3/19), after my afternoon meeting, I stopped in around 4:30 to welcome them to the neighborhood. I placed my order for a whole wheat (scooped) with lox spread and sesame with regular. Then I got four bagels to go (marble rye and whole wheat) - to avoid crowds. Mike behind the counter was the perfect host and mentioned some plans for the future. I don't like their bagels. They are big white and fluffy....not dense and chewy. They get big and white using additives which I am against. I believe they are owned by Chester Bagel...which I find to be a completely different bagel. These bagels seem to be like the bagels of the previous owner....which gave up. Bagel business is tough in NJ...so you have to provide an excellent bagel...or people just go else where. I know many people travel out of town to get better bagels. read more

I was very disappointed in this bagel shop and recommend that you don't go anytime close to closing or don't want to be exhorted on price. Bagels: The bagel I ate was fine, but not nearly as good and other shops near here. My biggest issue with the bagel was that they were completely disorganized. There were labels all over the place, and from a customer's perspective, you couldn't tell which label was supposed to be for which bagels, because they had multiple labels on some of the bins. The person working at the counter told me what the one I asked about was, but in a way that made me think that his guess was no better than mine, and that he was just going off the sign that was easiest for him to see. Service: In addition to not having the bagels organized in a clear way, they also ignored my request for it to be toasted. Obviously there are two sides to communication, and I guess that I should have done more to ensure that he understood that I wanted the bagel toasted, but I had no way to know that he didn't here. Either way my bagel wasn't very good, because it wasn't toasted and it was 20 minutes before closing time, so it was a long time since it was cooked. Coffee: I came at 2:10 on a Saturday, and all the coffee varieties had been emptied, so I had no way to judge how good they would have been. Again, the service was terrible. It was completely slow, so someone should have noticed me trying to find a urn with some coffee in it, and told me that they'd been emptied and suggested iced coffee as an alternative. After the fact, I learned that was where all the coffee went. Anyway, my only option was to use the espresso machine, to make an Americano, thinking that would be a good substitute for coffee. A good Americano (two shots of espresso and some hot water), is actually my drink of choice, but the espresso machine that they had sitting there was out of the 1980's or something. I'm quite sure that it made the espresso from concentrate or powder. It definitely didn't make it like a barista or even like the modern automatic machines that replicate a barrista. It was terrible and I recommend that you never try to replicate a cup of coffee from one of those machines. Price: Out of control. $7.70 for a bagel and terrible coffee is crazy. I regretted this purchase so much when I was eating the bagel that I considered calling the owner for a refund. I threw the coffee away after two sips and the bagel should have been $1.50. Summary: Service and price are the main reasons why I'm giving this place 2 stars. I understand wanted to get closed up at 2:10 on a Saturday, but if you are going to be open, be open enough that someone coming in for a toasted bagel and a cup of coffee can get something close to that. If you don't want to do that, then close at 2:00 instead of 2:30 or 3:00. Also, $7.70 for a bagel and coffee is far more than the best places around charge. It is insulting. read more

Let me start by saying the only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because there is always room to improve, especially since they have only been open a week! If yelp allowed it I would have given them 4.5. I just went there before work to grab a bagel and a coffee, everyone there was so friendly! The bagels were light and fluffy and the olive cream cheese is so good, and it didn't take them long to make my order. The atmosphere of the whole place is really open and I am so excited that we finally have a place in town that we can go sit down at, that isn't so formal or overpriced. I know that all my friends and family, including myself, have been waiting for this place to open and I can honestly say that I am very happy with what they are giving us, especially since they have only been open for about a week. I have very high hope for this place and I will definitely be going back. Personally, I think instead of giving it bad reviews people should help them out and give them some suggestions as to what they could do to make it better since this place is needed. I so want to like this place. Seems like it's a run by non-food service people. I have been going to this place a lot at lunch time and it just has so much to be desired. I just went for my last time because it's Monday and my bagel was definitely made on Sunday. There are little things that just bug me, like a number system when there are two people in the store. One time I sat down for 15 minutes when I was the only guy there waiting for my order. When I went up to see what was going on, the woman said, "We kept calling your number." I was the only person in the store. Just yell at my that my bagel is ready!!! I ordered a Specialty sandwich (Jason something) consisting of pastrami turkey bacon and Russian dressing. I got pastrami on a dry bagel. DO NOT order anything but bagels from there yet. The twenty people working there are frantic and trying to figure everything out.
