The price for the ticket is a bargain compared to other live music venues and parking is still free & easy. The performances last about 2 hrs with a brief educational discussion of the music by the conductor for that evening. I had been attending their events for several yrs. Their seasons start in Aug and runs for about 8 concerts. They sell tickets at the door - $20 and $15 students/SCs. Great deal! We have always thought that it felt like having a private concert since it is a small venue with a terrific sound. Great live music. casual setting indoors. It starts early on Sundays. what more could I ask. Just noticed that their next concert is 8/28 and we will be out of town. darn. Oh - they have a website.

I am a professional musician from San Diego, but happened to see an article that an orchestra in…read moreAnaheim (where I grew up and parents still live) of all places was going to be playing a Mahler Symphony.Went to see Mahler Symphony no. 1 - I was pretty surprised that Anaheim even had an orchestra. I was raised in Anaheim/Garden Grove before going to Manhattan for my music degree, and never knew there was an orchestra in town. 1. For what I would assume is a smaller regional orchestra the OCS plays pretty well, especially under Maestro Parnther. The winds, percussion and low strings are the orchestras strength. The second violins had some interesting moments in places. Mahler is difficult, and one of the musicians said they did this concert in 3 rehearsals. In the SDSO, we prepared the Mahler 1 in 5 rehearsals. 2.The performance was a little unconventional, but it actually worked pretty well. They performed the first movement of Mahler 1 before intermission and the rest afterward, which I don't think I have ever seen done before.The conductor took time to explain the history of the work and played little excerpts of the whole work. This is unusual, and usually done in a pre-concert talk format. But the audience really seemed to respond to the conductor, who again is very informal and at times hilarious. 3. The audience, may I again add, REALLY seems supportive of this orchestra. After the Mahler, many people were screaming like they were at a Rock concert. I will admit the conductor has a dramatic flair and gets a lot out of the ensemble. Here is what I did not like. 1. I did not care for the piano soloist playing the Saint Saens Concerto. Honestly I thought she was terrible. I dont remember what the name was, but it was an extremely unmemorable performance. The orchestra played well regardless. 2. Apparently the OCS allows you to eat in the concert hall which I thought was highly unusual. They sell popcorn in the lobby and seemingly let people take it into the concert hall. Who does that?? it was a little distracting to hear someone eating popcorn next to me while the bass solo in the 3rd movement of the Mahler was being played. 3. The line to get into the concert was rather lengthy and not terribly efficient. There was a huge huge line to get inside the building, and it felt like my husband and I waited in line at least 20 minutes to get tickets. They need more efficient ticket staff. 4. I think the elderly woman who is the president or director (looks like an elderly Lucille Ball) of the OCS needs to learn a thing or two about public speaking. This woman yammered on senselessly for 15 minutes about a raffle and some other nonsense, and it really detracted from the professionalism of the concert.

Music was blasting throughout the festival, creating a fun atmosphere, but be prepared for long lines for both ordering and food pickup. Most vendors were cashless and accepted credit cards, Zelle, or Venmo, although some did take cash. A few vendors even made the long trek down from the Bay Area. The biggest challenge was definitely the heat. It was a hot day, and the event could have used more shaded areas. Lots of people gathered around the tables to cool off, while others were there to actually eat. The food was okay overall, but I'm hoping to try the BBQ next time around. My favorite was the Mango Crumble halo-halo from D Baker's Lab--definitely worth trying! Prices can add up quickly, so I'd recommend going with friends and sharing dishes. That way, you can sample more without spending a small fortune. Heads up: the sticky rice line was REALLY long. If you're driving, bring a cooler with plenty of water. You'll save money on drinks and, more importantly, stay hydrated while you're out in the heat. Overall, a fun free event with plenty of food, shopping, music, and mango-filled treats. Just come prepared for the heat and the lines!

Plenty of food options nearby for a meal before/after a show. Porto's is literally a block or two away!

If you look hard the location does show it's age. But don't let that fool you. This venue has good bones and provides a pleasing experience. From the balcony, the view is good. The sound could use some updating. The volume although adequate was not accompanied by a sound quality deserved by the wonderful production. As a person who can miss all the notes all the time, I truly appreciate your talents and abilities. I hold the Producers and Directors responsible for the Show. As for the Carpenter Center, Musical Theatre West, and other places and production companies. I'm done. When you advertise you are doing "Joesph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" or any other production this is what I expect to see. If you are making a new adaption of the play, let everyone know before they spend their hard-earned money. This visual experience is part of the performance. Your new adaption was for the most part very poor. As my mother of 85 said, "I kept closing me eyes hoping it would change." I laughed, yet never having been to a "Chip and Dale" review it's the only thought that came to my mind to describe what was being presented. On this occasion, I was invited to the performance of the RANDOM 1s (follow them on Instagram), who played a medley of Classic Rock songs from the 60s and 70s. Not just any popular song, but the music from bands who made a blockbuster hit, but did not continue with more hits or an album. These are referred to as the "One Hit Wonders." Special Guest this evening is radio personality, Shotgun Tom Kelly. He published a book and was the Emcee for the evening. A book signing event was held in the lobby before and after the show. His book is entitled "All I Wanna do is Play the Hits." Loved, loved, loved it!! Had a blast singing along to Beatles music and highly recommend both the location and the Tribute!! Hope they continue the show! Even thought the location had technical difficulties (felt like I was in a school auditorium at times) they fixed it quickly and just added to the lighthearted atmosphere. We parked inside the school campus for free but there appeared to be street parking available in the neighborhood. The only negative thing about the location is that there are no clear signs naming the auditorium as the Blue Moon Theater as you are driving by it. We just followed the people lol.

The lobby was very clean and shiny, and the restrooms were large and clean. The theatre's interior was very beautiful and comfortable. Every comfortable seat in the theatre offers a perfect view of the stage, and the sound system was perfect. The employees were all very friendly and professional, and they assisted anyone and everyone who needed help. Though the music was a tad different from what we are used to on the radio, the performers worked hard and did a GREAT job of keeping the audience engaged and entertained.
