Came here for a lunch on a rainy Sunday. Totally impressed by the antipasti platter and two pizzas crust was perfect with just the right amount of char and chewiness. Heard this is one of the best pizza places in DC, and possibly the best, so finally came here and did not disappoint. We shared a Brooklandissima Pizza and a Salmon Panuno which we really loved and tasted very authentically Italian. The ambiance is nice but the restaurant is quite small so I would reccomend coming early on a busy night. I've been coming to this restaurant for several years and it's always great! Service + food is always 5 stars. This location is right off of 12th & Franklin St in NE DC. This time we ordered 2 pizzas (diavolo and Prosciutto cotto). Both were very good! I liked the spiciness of the diavolio best; bae liked the other one best). Together, they were a great contrast! I LOOOVE their pizza crust!! If you want the pizza cut into slices, you have to request this. Even if I forget to ask, it's not difficult to do it myself. We also got the La Bomba (dessert). We've ordered this many times in the past because it tastes great! It's a warm dessert of pizza dough filled with nutella. Pretty decent pizza place, I would say it's my second favorite pizza place in the city. I've been to both locations and this is definitely my favorite of the two, it feel a lot more intimate and staff is super friendly. I've heard great things about Menomale and it did live up to the hype. My wife and I went in to order take out. They have a very detailed menu with plenty of options so it took a while to determine what we wanted. It would have been nice to have some images associated with the menu but nevertheless when I saw the brick oven I knew what I was in for. My wife just wanted a pepperoni pizza so the host explained that it is possible, just a small deviation from one of the items on the menu. The food took about 10 minutes to prepare. I can't lie, my wife said this was one of the best pizzas she's ever had (prior to our visit her favorite pizza was Andy's). The verde calzone was fantastic as well. You can taste and tell the authenticity of their food in each bite. We visited south of Italy a few year ago, Palermo, and might I say the quality of food at Menomale matched our pizza experience in Italy. I will be back to this spot. read more

I got the diavola : excellent My friend got another pizza, I can't remember the name, but it was bland. Maybe from the pizza pic it can be figured out. They have nice seating but the tables are close together. I liked their patio seating too. Bathroom is clean. Parking is in the street or there is an adjacent shopping center with a free lot. The main issue I have is the service. This isn't the place to chill out. They seem to want customers in and out, especially as it approaches their closing time. Some of the best pizza I've had in DC. We stopped in after visiting Harps (the new Irish pub nearby) and were blown away by the quality. If you can't make it to Italy, this is your closest bet for authentic Neapolitan pizza in the area. A note for people unfamiliar with this style: you might see reviews mentioning it's "soggy," but that's simply the characteristic of true Neapolitan pizza. A soft, pliable center with a perfectly charred, puffy crust. It's meant to be eaten with a knife and fork, and it's wonderful. We'll definitely be back! read more

So I'm an Italian lover! And this was taking me back to the feel of a piece of Italy in DC. The restaurant was full right at 5 p.m. My take - I'm not sure I'd come back. The pizza was good but the sauce was too watery. The toppings fell off and I had to use a fork to eat. The salad was good. For the price, I wouldn't come again. Just not to die for for me. It's not hard to look at the bright side of Menomale Pizza Napoletana. The pizza speak for themselves and are absolutely divine. You will experience a culinary tradition stemming from the Neapolitan days in the old country. I had the pleasure of enjoying the "Di Ettore" pizza named after the owner of the restaurant and it was everything that you could ever want in a pizza. It took me back to the days of being in the Amalfi coast Italy and enjoying prosciutto and arugula on top of my pizza. Now you see this pizza popping up everywhere in America it is pretty common place, But hardly common. I never get tired of this pizza it's just refinement to the max. My boyfriend stayed true to the classics getting a margherita pizza with pepperoni on top and it was also just as satisfying. We were very pleased with all of the dishes that we ordered including the fries with feta cheese on top! Just wow! Who would have thunk that one :) Just like many Italian restaurants that have come before, this one too has a salumeria next door for all the Italian specialty goods you need in your life! 4/5 I stopped at Menomale again. I gave the Noma location a try and so I figured I would for the Brookland location as well. I went on a Saturday and sat outside. The weather was absolutely perfect and they have a nice outdoor dining area. The service was prompt and attentive. I got the margherita pizza and while I enjoyed it, it's nothing special. (3.5/5). I wish it was a bit cheesier and they used larger, chunkier pieces of mozz. What I appreciate is that's it's properly priced. I didn't feel like I was overcharged for something I didn't absolutely love. read more

Came to Menomale on a Wednesday evening with friends and had a lovely time. We walked in around 7 and easily got a table. The restaurant is very small so there's only about ~6 tables inside. There is a nice sized covered patio as well so can accommodate more folks on a warm day. For drinks I had one of their spritzs anf my friends had wine. Later in the night I also opted for an espresso martini. Overall the cocktails are just okay so I would stick with wine. We started with burrata which was yummy. For pizza we got one of the vegetarian white pizzas and the chef's special. We definitely order wrong since neither pizza comes with red sauce. Read the menu carefully and ask questions! The white pizza was really yummy especially with a side of tomatoe sauce but the chef's special was a miss for us. It was basically a salad with prosciutto sitting ontop of pizza dough. Maybe we ordered wrong - definitely not what we expected. Not bad but wouldnt order again. Would definitely stick to the classic red dauce pizzas as the side of sauce they gave us was great! For dessert we had the tiramusu and cannolis. Both yummy bites. Service was quick and attentive and prices were reasonable. Overall a nice no frills neighborhood spot with yummy pizza. Compared to similar small gourmet pizza restaurants the place is missing a lot of ambience (theres no music!) so its a better dining experience if you're just looking for something really fast and really casual --otherwise takeout is the way to go! However, second beer, the glass was absolutely filthy, literal lipstick residue and 'stuff' in the bottom. They hadn't washed it! They just rinsed it and would NOT refund that beer. A perfect small restaurant. First and foremost the food was great. All of the pizzas are enough for 1 person. You could potentially split with an appetizer or side. I got the Bresaola pizza which was a cured beef, capers and mozzarella pizza. It was delicious. I'm a huge caper fan, but I know they can overpower a dish. Thankfully, they were spread out perfectly so you never got too much of it and it just added to the rest of the pizza. My wife and I then split a marshmallow pizzeta. It would have been hard to miss on Nutella and marshmallow pizza, and they didn't because it was also thoroughly enjoyed treat. It's a very cozy feel inside since there isn't too much indoor seating. While visiting a friend who lives in Maryland, she mentioned Memomale. She said that it reminded her of pizza we used to eat during our Brooklyn days because you could fold it. Neapolitan pizza has that kind of crust. The thing is that lots of restaurants that claim to serve authentic Neapolitan pizza do a better job of promotions than they do of have the real deal on their menu. We ordered a sampler of bruschetta. I am addicted to tomatoes, so it was heaven for me. She ordered a prosciutto pizza. It had ham, mushrooms, tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. I ordered a patata, which had sausage, cream of potatoes, and black olives on it. While I didn't have any of my friend's pizza, I trust her advice and noticed how she devoured what she ordered. The patata is one that I would order again if ever I return. The pizza is nothing like what you get at a lot of walk-ups. It isn't anything akin to the usual pizza fare that you get from Domino's, Pizza Hut, and the like. It takes time for preparation and it's not disappointing when it arrives at the table. Menomale always shows up in my constant search for great pizza. They are certified in the artistry of authentic Napoletana style pizza. Finally made it a point to try it out! Made it by for lunch on a Saturday, and maybe everyone else is so caught up with the brunch scene that Menomale was half full. I didn't mind it all because I didn't have to wait for a table. Seating is available inside and outside. Outside seating is covered, making it a bit warmer and more doable as the temps drop. The menu is all incredibly tempting - for a split second you're not sure if you're in DC or Italy. Note: Menomale is known for their thin crust Napoletana style pizza. It's thin enough that one person can definitely eat the whole thing. If you're not that hungry, or if you're getting an appetizer, I say you can be a bit controversial and share one pizza. We ordered the Diavola and it was amazing! The Diavola pizza has spicy salami and red peppers. I would 100% order this pizza again. It barely had any kick so don't be scared to try it. The crust will many times make or break a pizza, and Menomale doesn't disappoint. I can't wait to go back, and next time I will save room for dessert! read more

What Brookland lacks in number of restaurants it makes up for in quality with this one spot. The ingredients here really make the difference as everything tastes extra fresh. We got the Burrata for an appetizer and the Verdone pizza and Verde calzone as entrees. The ingredients in the appetizer were perfectly matched and flavorful. Our mains were very good; fresh pesto and some of the best fresh pizza crust I've had. It's light, but moist and doughey. We inadvertently tried two mains that featured pesto, so we're looking forward to trying offerings with other sauces read more
