I've had it on my list to try Mercato and Co. for the longest time after seeing the viral Tiramisu latte. When I went for the first time, I was absolutely amazed. I suddenly was transported back to Italy. In the front area you'll see sandwiches, paninis, bakery items, desserts. I ordered a decaf tiramisu latte iced because I wanted the photo. They do have a rewards point system which I was glad I signed up for because I knew I wanted to come back and now I've been there maybe five times already and I've ordered: Tiramisu latte iced decaf - absolutely delicious, not too sweet. There is a layer or whipped cream topped with a cookie and cocoa powder. Love!!! Highly recommend. I will say it is quite heavy but I love it. Caprese panini - I asked for focaccia bread, kind of average- nothing too special. Pistachio latte decaf - when I ordered this I think the front desk staff got confused and gave my pistachio nut milk, instead of with pistachio syrup. So when I took a sip it was good but not sweet enough for me. I went back and they actually added pistachios syrup - no questions asked, no complaints. It was delicious. This place doesn't just have coffee and bakery items- it's a store with things imported from Italy. From pasta sauce to cookies, there is also alcohol infused gelato which blew my mind. Unfortunately for me I come here during my work hours to grab coffee so didn't seem appropriate to grab alcoholic gelato but I want go again!! I love Italian food in general, so I was really excited to visit after discovering this place on Instagram. The ambiance is cool slightly upscale, but still casual and relaxed. They also have a nice variety of Italian goods available to purchase. I tried the croquettes, which were just okay, and the vanilla iced latte was decent. My hubby and mother-in-law really enjoyed their cappuccinos, though. The donut with Nutella was definitely a highlight just so good! I was even contemplating taking one of their pizzas home but maybe next time. The place was pretty busy, which is always a good sign. Overall, I'd give it a 7/10. read more

This is one of my favorite coffee spots in Houston. It's so cozy and cute inside. The coffee is always perfectly roasted, and I love that their dessert-like coffees are never too sweet. We popped into Mercato & Co after having dinner next door at the new restaurant. The market has a great set up and a well curated selection of imported groceries. My husband got a hazelnut gelato which was on the pricey side for the size ($8) but he said it was delicious. We tried a local small batch dark chocolate which was expensive ($22), required refrigeration and was not the best, but they also carry Venchi, our favorite Italian brand of chocolate. We also picked up a chocolate called pocket coffee that has a liquid espresso center which I quite enjoyed. It's a gourmet grocery store with the perks of having a cafe housed within! The cozy cafe with a handful of seating plus a high top, bar like area can fit more people that one would think. These seats are scattered throughout the grocery space, leaving some passages more narrow than others for shoppers to browse. There are some very nice, high quality global products and home goods amongst a curated wine section and more. Think aisles of gourmet snacks and drinks plus garnishes, oils, cookies, sauces, etc. However, many items in the grocery do not have pricing on it, so the only way to find out is at checkout. So far, I enjoy their Italian bean to grind coffee, imported chocolates, artisanal chips, pantry staples, and tinned fish (Spanish + Portuguese). While you're there, definitely take time to enjoy their cafe that's packed with all kinds of coffee and tea beverages along with Italian deli cuts and more. As Ella Coffee is housed within The, I got to try a few of their beverages whilst shopping. The tiramisu latte, which can be hot or cold, is heavenly. The banana matcha latte is unique tasting and actually quite refreshing. The gelato is a bonus. I'm looking forward to trying their sandwiches and charcuterie with wine. This is SUCH a good coffee shop. You wouldn't think their coffee and food would be that great because it doubles as a little shop, but holy crap. My boyfriend and I loved their tiramisu latte and Dubai chocolate latte. Both were so delicious and well made. I also ordered their ham, egg, and cheese croissant. I love the inside and vibe of the cafe, I went during a Saturday morning and the store was packed but there was still seating outdoors on the patio, which is shaded and has lots of vines. The tiramisu coffee was okay, I couldn't taste much of the tiramisu but presentation was still pretty. I liked the hermann matcha more, its blueberry and chantilly cream, not too sweet and a good tart. The service was great and our drinks came out quick! I tried the relatively new mercato and company in west university in Houston. They are an Italian mini store that also has a cafe. The parking is very limited in the front and back so I had to resort to parking in the neighborhood. They have a few tables inside as well as many tables outside in their shaded outdoor patio. I got their Lizzie tiramisu and hermann matcha signature drinks. The tiramisu latte was made with hazelnut, oat milk, vegan chantilly cream, cocoa powder, and a lady finger. The hermann matcha had blueberry syrup and chantilly cream. I really liked the tiramisu latte. It was rich and creamy with cocoa powder dusted over it. The matcha was not bad but I felt like it was a little over the top. I would've preferred a more simple matcha. This is a really nice place to study in such a nice part of town with beautiful houses so I will definitely come back to try more drinks read more

Came for coffee & a snack with a friend on a Monday afternoon. It was fairly busy for a weekday. But we were served in a reasonable time and found a table easily. They have a great outdoor patio that seems to be dog friendly. (So will be bringing my dog with me next time). We both got ham egg & cheese croissants which were honestly unimpressive. The croissant itself was fine. But will be skipping next time. The inside of the sandwich was cold and honestly a bit overpriced at 13.00. The coffee however was super yummy!! I originally went into get some schoolwork done, but unfortunately the outside patio area didn't have any plugs to charge my laptop (that i noticed) and the inside was a tad but too busy to be productive Inside. There is more seating on the patio than inside. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was my first time here so the barista I interacted with gave me great recommendations and was very patient. I ordered the Bear drink from the summer menu. She informed me that it's usually switched with Matcha and I agree, it was a great alternative for the drink! The drink had great presentation, balanced sweetness and tasted refreshing. The quality of the matcha was also pretty good. There were cookies on the top of the drink and those had a nice almond flavor to them which were delicious. For my food item, I went with the butter croissant and it was pretty good... definitely your average croissant though. Although it was a great visit, i think this place is better for socializing, but not so much for reading/school work, just because it was busy and noisy. My friend ordered a coffee and drank almost the entire thing before noticing there was a piece of chewed gum inside the cup that clearly wasn't hers. It was honestly disgusting and really upsetting to realize after she had already finished most of the drink. We brought it to the staff's attention right away. The manager did refund the drink, but the interaction was uncomfortable. She implied that my friend might be mistaken or lying because she said their staff doesn't chew gum. Regardless of how it got there, finding something like that in a drink is upsetting and should be taken seriously. What made it worse was seeing the owner later respond to my friend's review by calling her "spiteful" and suggesting it might have been xanthan gum from plant-based milk. The drink was made with whole milk, so that explanation doesn't apply. Mistakes can happen anywhere, but dismissing customers and insulting them for sharing their experience isn't the right way to handle it. read more

Came for lunch with girlfriends and I myself had the burrata salad while they noshed on the paninis and each had a tiramisu drink, which looks like a 1000-calorie dessert! It's more like a grocer with counter service, and the staff is super nice. They even refilled my turmeric latte with extra steamed milk after I had a large amount of leftover turmeric slush at the bottom of my cup--most likely due to me drinking it so slowly since I was chatting so much lol! Not much in the way of seating options, but I hear they will open up more and make it like a restaurant soon? We shall see! Only giving 4 stars because I feel the menu needs more options, especially since they're "competing" against Tiny's, Little Matt's and Maximo literally within walking distance. read more
